The staff were nice. But the property was old and not in the greatest condition. The room I had had window drapes and sheer curtains that did not move well, separately making it hard to open and close them. There was no AC and only a small window and balcony door to open to get a breeze and, for safety reasons since I was on the first floor and the room was accessible from the outside, I could only keep the small window open. There was a fan but it had a very bright control display that made a dark room not dark.
Besides that, the other window in the room was near a lighted sign and the blinds did not fully cover the window so light came in making the room even brighter.
The room had few power points and made it difficult for plugging in accessories like charging cables and my cpap machine.
Finally, the bathroom had a shower over a tub and the tub was narrow and difficult to get in and out of. Was not happy.
Besides that, the other window in the room was near a lighted sign and the blinds did not fully cover the window so light came in making the room even brighter.

This is supposed to be a disability room, it is extremely lacking. Cannot use the shoer, difficult to use the toilet, cannot turn around within the bathroom but only near the front window.

When we check in at around 3pm on Saturday our room wasnt vacuum. We rushed to have a shower and get ready for a funeral. While showering, a woman bang the door and called out that she needed to come do the vacuum. My husband called out to leave it we getting ready. Less than a minute a male voice knock loud and called out that he needed to come in to do the vacuum. We checked out on Tuesday morning, the vacuum havent done.
I had to go and asked reception for a toilet paper roll as the cleaner didnt gave us a roll.
When we show up for breakfast on Tuesday, the room was full. We still went in to grab some food then go into the bar area and eat there. The Maori mature lady told us that we cant have breakfast because its full. When i told her that we will take it out she then said ok. After getting our food, a couple finished and we sat down pushing their dirty plates aside. The Maori lady came and said, “oh, that table was supposed to be for other people but its ok you sit there and i will tell those people to wait in the foyer. We just ate and try to ignore her then she came back and ask, “is it ok for you guys to share the table with this couple? They were Maori couple. I said yes thats ok.

The room was average, really needs an upgrade and could do with a thorough clean, the thick coat of dust behind the beds was disgusting. Also this is the third time we have stayed at the Kingsgate and I was very disappointed that they now charge $25 per day for car parking! The front reception staff on the evening weren’t very helpful.

The Hotel and rooms are run down and uninviting. Peeling wallpaper, chipped paint, dated interior. The walls are paper thin so we were kept awake by our neighbor coughing, urinating and snoring throughout the entire night. Then at 8am sharp, construction began above our ceiling. Hammering, sanding and sawing. This was the last straw in a hellish stay. We won't be back or recommending anyone to stay here.

We didnt like the very tight car parking. And the slippery slope drive way going down to the city. Theres water running down it. And its constantly wet. Very dangerous when frosty. But loved the stay in the complex. And will come back.

When checking in I was told all the on site parking was full, the listing on here doesn’t say anything about parking being limited so my options were to park on the side of the road and hope the car didn’t get broken in to while lugging my luggage up a steep hill. The room I booked and paid for was meant to have 2 teen beds the room I was given was directly behind the lifts with one bed in-it felt like being put in the room no one else would want-also you need to consider soundproofing the wall-you could clearly hear phone conversations as well as snoring from other rooms. All in all pretty horrible and I will never come back

There was plenty of hotel parking that was available all night, however, receptionist said it was full and would have to park offsite. I later asked for an umbrella for my wife and I as it was going to rain. Receptionist said there was only one umbrella but did not offer it. She said it was not going to rain. It rained a lot 30 minutes after going outside for dinner. We got wet.

The room had some sort of bug infestation in the carpet, we received bug bites on our feet and ankles. The girl at the front desk did offer to spray it with fly spray but as the smell would have been through the room we declined. We were offered another room but as my elderly mother in-law was already settled for the night we declined. we came home with many bug bites on our feet and ankles.

We enjoyed our stay at the Kingsgate Hotel for several reasons. The comfort of the living room space was an added bonus to the bed & shower. We ate one take home meal and it felt like home. Our suites sliding glass doors were wide open with crisp fresh air & no noise! The staff were super helpful & we were grateful for their assistance. The breakfast was more than we could have asked for or wanted to start our day.
