the hotel was nice especially the gardens. The food was good, the service was good, the staff were helpful. The room was a little on the small side, and the tv did not work. There was music playing near the hotel until 3am.I think a little overated for the cost.

The staff was excellent and helpful. Food was also great. However, the design of the bathroom shower was terrible and make having a shower very difficult. We had water going everywhere and we had limited towels. We kept asking for towels and barely got what we needed.

A sanctuary within a busy large town. Very clean and super helpful Staff. The food, whether breakfast, lunch or supper was delicious and tasty. On the flip side, in areas it was tired and out of 3 different rooms, the shower/ bath combo always wanted to leak. All in all, a very good hotel to rest and recuperate after scaling Mt Kilimanjaro

Comfortable room but several issues

Several issues. Firstly the fridge and the TV in the room did not work properly and full credit to the staff that they fixed these issues. Two other important issues 1) unusable internet and 2) the air conditioning kept cutting out. I raised these issues with the hotel but nothing changed.

I changed the room because the one we were allocated at first had a funky smell. The front desk sent a welcome message addressing my friend and I as Mr. and Mrs. even after they knew we were both men; I think it was totally unprofessional and disrespectful. The second room had single bed even though I booked for double bed.

Great Hotel for All Types of Travelers

I came to Arusha for a conference which was held here at the Mount Meru Hotel. A friend encouraged me to stay elsewhere, but for the sake of convenience, I decided to ignore that advice. Am I glad I did! in addition to the aforementioned convenience of being in the conference hotel, I truly enjoyed my stay. Everyone was extremely nice and courteous, friendly and helpful. The rooms were very well attended to at least twice per day, with turn down service as a standard. The bed was comfortable, the room was spacious and nice, and the grounds have a lot of greenery. The restaurant food was good as well, with a full breakfast included as part of the stay. The fitness room, which seems to be an issue in other reviews, was perfectly fine though a bit small. I had probably the best pedicure in the local spa with a huge amount of attention to detail. I love the hotel!

The best hotel in Arusha Tanzania. Excellent location with a Golf course on the left side and Mount Meru in-front so near that you feel like you can tourch it. It is beautiful. Awesome views all round.

Horrible service and fraudulent transaction

We had a horrible time at the hotel. Horrible wi-fi, the swimming pool timing was very odd - 11 am to 5 pm, couldn't use the pool any day. The service was pathetic, employees misrepresented the meal costs etc. So much chaotic. The picture on website doesn't match with the actual facilities at the hotel. On top of that, the hotel fraudulently charged extra amount from our debit card without our authorisation after one day from our check out. In a nutshell, we will never go to this hotel and will strongly recommend no one to go there.

GREAT stay!! VERY clean and comfortable!!

We had a GREAT stay at Mt. Meru Hotel for two nights prior to a 7 day safari. The rooms were large and very clean. The beds were also very comfortable. EXCELLENT guest service all the way from the front desk to the welcoming hospitality of the restaurant staff!! The lunch and dinner buffets were fantastic with a great selection for everyone. Would definitely stay at Mt. Meru Hotel again and highly recommend.

It is good hotel and a great location for getting around Arusha and environs if you are here for work. WIFI is very weak and needs be improved a lot. Otherwise the hotel is trying to keep up standards. The food in the a la carte restaurant could be much better. The need to get a real chef in and update and revamp the menu.

Booked and paid for two twin beds got king with cot. Air conditioning in room did not work. Called three times and after several hours they brought a fan, but the ac was never fixed and a new room was not provided. Food was terrible and service was incredibly slow in restaurants.

Quiet, in town, with all amenities

We had a wonderful 4 night stay here in June 2018. Our room was quiet and clean with a nice view of Mt Meru. It's well located, easy to walk to town and get on the highway for a trip to Mt. Kilamanjaro. There are numerous restaurants and bars, with ample indoor and outdoor seating for whatever suits your fancy. There are many travel groups coming and going, but individual travelers are treated as special. The barbecued chicken and Avocado Delight salad were the best!

Exceptional customer service from the welcome received right through to departure. All departments run extremely efficiently.

Two very small observations: there were no tissues in the room and an iron and ironing board would have been very convenient, although pressing was offered by the housekeeper (free of charge).

A well-positioned hotel

We stayed at Mt Meru Hotel immediately before and after our safari, and again after our Mt Kilimanjaro climb. The hotel is close enough to downtown Arusha (walking distance), and is definitely one of the nicest places to stay in the city. The rooms are well appointed, the dining experience is very good, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel grounds are substantial and include a large pool area, seating areas and gardens.

Hotel was well staffed, porters available on short notice. I was confused when trying to reach the front desk, rather than using the button on the phone, it should have been to dial 1002.
They put me in a smoking room by mistake and were quick to make the change.

The front desk with 2 staff full time, was always busy, I would recommend a third person.

Hotel Mount Meru is much below expectations. Housekeeping and service both are poor.
I stayed in Executive room. No telephone near bed, Just a normal chair for seating arrangement. No facility to hang clothes in bathroom,fridge not stocked at all.
Dinner served had two items not edible and hotel was kind to not charge for the same.

A Little bit off, but hotel is okay.

Away from downtown Arusha, but hotel is fine. The Bufett diner cannot be recommended. Food is not hot and fresh, but from the menu food is good. We had some small animals/insects in the bathroom and the lights were partially defect. But overall it was okay, a little bit too pricy, especially as rooms are small.

Located northeast of the city and not far from the Clock Tower. An incredible 5* property, perhaps the best in the city. We needed a place with the most facilities possible since we were going to be enjoying the time relaxing before the next couple of busy days in the safaris; so this hotel came as the best choice without equal. Fantastic and immaculate staff, a beautiful well cared and spotless building, decoration and feeling. Large bedroom with a very high level of comfort, countless amenities and very quiet, perfect for a good rest. The breakfast was huge, with high quality of products and very professional waiters, always there smiling and making you feel welcome. The pool, medium size and great too, and so the overall landscaping of the gardens and communal areas. Absolutely recommended

Recent stay at Mount Meru Hotel

Mount Meru Hotel is a nice hotel on par with other chain hotels. We sadly had a couple of issues with the service though. On arrival there were outlets in the room which were not working. I'd phoned the front desk twice over 90 minutes to have maintenance look at it. When they still never arrived I remember to look for the circuit box - in the closet - and saw that one was flipped off. I was able to resolve this issue. Our last evening we had ordered a drink at the front desk to be sent up to the room but which after 45 minutes still never arrived. It was nice that they have gym although some of the equipment needed renewing. A bit unfortunate, but I know that it is difficult to source some of these items consistently, at least in southern Tanzania. When we'd ordered room service though the food arrived promptly and was good, and the housekeeping also had responded quickly to our request for an iron and ironing board. The front desk had been helpful in arranging a round of golf for my husband. Overall we had a comfortable stay, and would recommend it for anyone overnighting in Arusha before continuing onto safari or a Kili/Meru climb.

Don't bother!!!
Rude and arrogant staff all over the place, only found that one trainee and the cleaning lady was friendly.. The rest acted as we were not welcome at all.

Slow and late checkin (more than 1 hour) and when we finally got the room, was it not the ordered one.

Shower was broken and left the entire bathroom soaked when showering.

The food was somewhat disappointing, their T bone steak was awful.

And way overpriced, there are hotels at half their price with better rooms, friendly staff and better food

I will never return to this hotel, it clearly made it to the button of my list.

Really nice hotel with one huge disappointment

This is a really nice hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful, rooms were clean, breakfast was amazing, and the grounds are beautiful. There was one really, really big problem though - almost no water pressure in the shower (somehow water pressure in the sink was fine). The water trickled out of half of the shower. After a five-day camping safari without what I consider a real shower, I wanted a real shower, and instead had to wash my hair with water bottles filled up in the sink. Everything else about this hotel is great - I can't give it less than a four due to everything else, but I can't recommend this hotel to anyone after a safari.

Stayed only one night due to the safari schedule but wished we could have stayed more! The Mt. Meru Hotel is a lovely property and the view is fantastic. The hotel is well kept and serviced. We enjoyed the bar and lounge and appreciated the heat lamps (it can be surprising how cool Tanzanian nights can be!). Wish we had more time to enjoy the pool and golf course. If you like to chill before or after a safari, this is the place!

A nice western getaway in the middle of Arusha, almost surreal among the local developing area. The room is pretty clean and comfortable. The shower area is not blocked by any curtain/door, it's easy for water to overspill to the rest of the bathroom. The internet is poor in the room but decent in the lobby. The restaurants offer a variety of food choices, the pizzeria by the pool is pretty good.
