The rooms smelled every time we walked in. Recommend an air freshner in the room. The temperature was too hot even with the central heat turned off and window open. Consider a fan. Finally, the room was a bit dry as well, consider a humidifier

The hotel is located in center.
The breakfast is tasty. But we cannot order more than 1 coffee and more than 1 cup of orange juice. I prefer buffet.

Spacious rooms, sumptuous breakfast. Excellent staff throughout the hotel. Great location, peaceful, with superb restaurants and bars are on the doorstep. Third stay at The Gem Society in the last 5 years. Incredible value.

Bathroom and shower literally in the room next to your bed and separated only by a glass doors. No privacy what so ever. When you take a shower water is going straight to the room next to your bed. Big window looking into..... closed space with a fire stairs. But they have a coffee Nespresso machine in the room and breakfast has choices that cooked for you.

Room was nice and spacious! The hallways were a little unclean and by unclean I mean like scuff marks on the walls and a little dark in terms of lighting but once you enter into your room it was perfectly fine.
Staff was nice, they provided us with taxi transfer to get to the ferries as well which was easy for us.
We only stayed one night which was good enough for us! Definitely walking distance to the flea markets and tourist areas, and lots of restaurants and food options around. About a 15-20 minute walk to the acropolis!

Small boutique hotel in the heart of Athens with clean, modern rooms and an excellent restaurant. Our room didn't have a window, but since we spent most of the time out exploring the city, it wasn't a problem. There was plenty of light in the room and the tall ceilings made the room seem even larger. The hotel staff were most accommodating in getting us taxis/ transportation when needed around town or to/from airport and cruise port.

I would certainly not consider this a 4-star hotel as it could benefit from some updating and modernization. The hallway walls and carpeting appeared worn and I didn't like the lack of separation between the toilet/shower and the room. On a positive note, the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The hotel is also in a great location —just a short walk to the Acropolis with plenty of shopping and restaurants nearby.

Our stay at The Gem Society was fantastic. Concierge was very helpful in arranging our transportation needs for a large group traveling with a small child. They had a play pen for the baby inside one of the rooms ( we rented 5 rooms total). The standard rooms were larger than we had anticipated, the beds comfortable and the experience overall was fantastic. Great location, great restuarant suggestions by the hotel and would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to be within walking distance to the Ancient Agora / Acropolis and good restaurants. 10/10, thank you!

The only disadvantage was the next door club with loud music almost each night.

Lovely service staff and fab location. Breakfast is very good and made to order so it is fresh and delicious. Spa services were phenomenal and can highly recommend the Thai massage for a firm sport style massage.

I do want to point out that for anyone who is noise sensitive, the sound insulation is very poor (at least on the 1st floor). You could hear any movement of guests in the hallway through the door as well as street noise. This was difficult in terms of a comfortable sleep.


That being said, I would stay again.

The hotel is in a fantastic central location, making it easy to access all the major tourist sites. However, we had issues with the air conditioning in our room. When we reported it to reception, we were told that the central heating was on because other guests had complained about the cold (despite the outside temperature being around 18–20°C). Their solution was to advise us to open the window, turn off the aircon unit, and use small fans provided by the hotel.

Frustratingly, we discovered on our last night that the aircon had been fixed, but no one informed us. Additionally, the spa service was disappointing and did not meet expectations. On a positive note, breakfast was excellent.

First of all, the stuff very kind, super nice and helps with everything!. They also help when we need.

However, while our stay there were few hot days. Because the season is winter the air conditioner was set to heat and there was no option to change that to cold. we suffer from that and the hotel gave us tiny fans that don't help to much. there wasn't other solution. It was very hot and difficult at the nights.

In addition, we don’t like the style of the breakfast. It is like a restaurant with waiters and few dishes and we asked them for everything like water, butter, bread etc. buffet style would be better.

This should have been a great experience but unfortunately was completely ruined by the hotel being next door to a nightclub. I understand it is a new business that only opened a month ago and the hotel is trying to get some changes made but it was awful. Our room was on the adjoining wall to the nightclub and the music went on until as late as 3am, making it impossible to get a decent night's sleep.
On the final night, the hotel was able to move us to a room at the other side of the hotel and it was very peaceful, although I believe the nightclub was also closed that evening.
I understand that it is out of the hotel's control and it is a new situation. However, I feel that I could have been warned before arriving so we had a choice about still keeping the room. We were tired for the majority of our trip as a result and the hotel was not willing to offer any compensation (I asked for some money off my prepaid room).
Otherwise, the hotel was nice and well located for exploring Athens. It was clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent and a real plus point.
The only other point to note it that the bathroom design is quite unusual and does not allow for any privacy (the toilet and shower are being frosted glass doors and there is no enclosed area for dressing) so guests may like to reconsider if this is an issue for them.
