Just what you would expect from a seaside hotel.
The staff were friendly and helpful we had a great evening meal, that we were not disappointed with. This was great as we really did fancy fish and chips sat beside the sea wall !! The room was well stocked with tea, water, biscuits and good to see plenty of the individual milk containers.
The breakfast was up there with the best all freshly cooked and hot.

We had a great stay. Our checkin was very welcoming by Quami . All the staff were friendly and couldn’t do enough to make our stay memorable. Ely and Claire and Anna were also wonderful and all the bar staff. The breakfasts were great with lots of Choices and they made us a lovely packed lunch instead of breakfast on the last day as we left early. The restaurant/bar was excellent and outside patio too.
Beds were very comfortable- we had a twin bed room with a view of the sea. Wifi was awful so we had to talk to each other hahaha
They do need to put a mirror near a plug as we could not use the hairdryer/curling iron and see what we were doing. We stayed 3 nights. We would stay there again.

We stayed for 2 nights at the pub and had a lovely time in Sherringham. Just meandering around & walking along the seafront. The only problem we had was the mattress on our bed was far too soft, so uncomfortable and we both ended up with chronic back ache by the morning.
The food was good and the breakfast choice was amazing.

Positive
Very clean and well run. Excellent very substantial breakfast and great staff. The single room has a (restricted) sea view and the location is right on the front. Food is served daily with some vegetarian choices. My meal was very nice.
Negative
The room is small and expensive for a small single. There is no ‘real’ coffee in the room but bottled water & biscuits were provided. It would have been nice to have some fruit as an option for breakfast (grapefruit segments even).
My main gripe was the shower. It has an eco-head (I have one) but the angle can’t be adjusted so a full blast into the face is on offer as the shower cubicle is too small to manoeuvre in. There was also nowhere to put my own toiletries and I ended up having to buy a little bag to hang on to the shower fittings so I could put my sponge and soaps in. (soap & stuff are provided in wall mounted containers). I hope you will put in a shower cady after reading this!
Clothes storage is limited to a few hangers on the wall and 2 drawers (which already contained a hair dryer and a fan). I did though manage to find enough space to do my yoga practice.
ALL IN ALL, IT IS A GREAT PLACE TO STAY.

The Two life boats could do better

It was our first time at The two life boats first the positive review the food was amazing and the staff could not do enough for you in the restaurant. The only downside was at breakfast time you felt you were on top of each other eating your breakfast as we were very close to the next table also we awoke at 08:15 with the sound of a delivery of frozen food at the Two life boats and the truck’s fridge running which startled us. And the pillows were hard good job we bought our own we don’t think we will be returning. It’s a shame because the view was amazing looking out the window.

We found the double room with a sea view very clean and perfectly comfortable for one night. It was freshly decorated, had quality bed linen, and offered good tea and coffee making facilities.
The bathroom was very petite, and the shower cubicle and tiling could probably be upgraded as looked worn out. It’s an old building so hot water took a very long time to work its way to our sink. Though there was a little sign that stated this on the sink!
It was very windy when we visited and there was a constant whistling noise through the windows so you should bring earplugs if you’re a light sleeper. The views were straight out to sea.
Breakfast was tasty, we enjoyed the vegetarian option.
We also ate dinner the night we arrived - good pub grub, several veggie options and very good service. Although, I was surprised they had the heating on in late May, it was boiling hot in the pub and we were sat next to a radiator. Thankfully our bedroom was nice and cool.
Overall the room rate seemed very high for a very average pub/non boutique B&B, especially compared to other places we’ve stayed. But perhaps this is normal for Norfolk!

I came to The Two Life Boats for work, as I was teaching a class that evening and then early at an event the following day. Honestly — I couldn’t have had a better stay. My room was gorgeous, the food and wine was outstanding and the staff were so attentive. I couldn’t stay for breakfast as I had to get to an event early, so they packed me a lovely lunch! The assistant manager so was so kind and was attentive to help me with my luggage down the stairs! The view was super lovely and I loved the facilities.
I was so relieved I had a sea view. Extra care is always given to your stay, which is why I’ve booked again to come with my fiancé for our anniversary in June, and my parents to have a trip away in the summer for their anniversary - they deserve the very best with being full time carers. The only trouble I had was my shower was a little temper-mental (going hot and then cold) but I presumed it was to do with someone else having a shower at the same time maybe, it didn’t effect my stay and I’m sure it was just something very minor, but wanted to mention so it was sorted for future.
Thank you all so much, it was such a lovely stay and I can’t wait for future visits!

Sea views. Great breakfast.

The view of the sea from two windows was amazing. It is awkward to get to the rooms if you cannot manage stairs - one set of stairs very steep.
The breakfast was wonderful - full English and other options too. Our server Claire was also wonderful with titbits of local knowledge and didn't mind that I mistakenly thought she was Pam. Sorry Claire.
We didn't eat in the restaurant or have drinks in the bar but there was a convivial atmosphere as we walked through to go to our room. It is a popular place to visit if in Sheringham. I often walk past The Two Lifeboats so I was delighted I had the opportunity to stay. Many thanks to all the staff.

Clean, comfortable room, great breakfast, excellent dinner, lovely staff who couldn't be more helpful and a gorgeous sea view. Right on sea front. No parking but can unload outside. Pay and display 2 minute walk which had spaces late September. Old building so narrow steep staircase inside or fire access stairs outside so probably not suitable if very poor mobility. I was the only guest due to the Covid scare at Christmas.
It's a great location and a very nice pub.
The landlady (Anna) was super nice and, overall, I enjoyed my overnight stay.
Given it's location, it's not cheap, and there were a couple of minor bathroom issues which stopped me giving it a higher rating; the electric shower was poor and the bath didn't drain properly.
I opted for the cooked breakfast, which was ok, but wasn't the premium experience I was told to expect; e.g. sausages were just the standard, pre-cooked type.
Nice spot though, and very clean.

Nice beachfront hotel

Lovely place to stay & being right on the front, easy access to the beach. It was also in the centre of town so easy access to other places to visit.

We did eat in the restaurant which was nice food - only oddity was being asked to pay for our meal before it had been served. My other gripe is that despite having booked a table, we were given the worst table in the place. I was seated so close to the staff cleaning table that I couldn't move my chair or cut my food without touching the table. It was a real shame as it marred an otherwise enjoyable stay.

Restful stay by the sea

We visited the lovely seaside town of Sheringham about a year and a half ago. The end of November, cold rainy weather and virtually no people around. It was delightful. Had a cozy room with a direct view of the sea. Such a nice time we headed there again for two days on our way north...the start of the tourist season and end of the school kid's holiday break, there were lots more people everywhere but the hotel was located at the end of the High Street and away from the crowds.
Our room was a different one but still had a good view of the sea and nice sitting area. We had our meals in the restaurant on site, hearty breakfasts and drinks when we wanted. A stroll on the promenade when the weather cleared was delightful.
It was the perfect place for real rest and relaxation. Friendly, helpful staff .
Just one negative, the inside staircase leading up to the rooms is really a difficult climb. There is an outside flight of stairs that is much easier except when it rains.

Firstly, the staff are very nice people. The main bar/dining room has been renovated & is very nice. If you were just coming in for dinner or some drinks, you’d be happy.
The problem starts with the stairs to the accommodation: you can take the metal fire escape staircase out back OR you can take the wickedly steep stairs from the bar area.
As you open the door I was overcome by the smell of the bathroom that was situated at the base of the stairs. All I can say is URINE. Then I was confronted by the steepest set of narrow stairs that had the most disgustingly dirty carpet on the treads, with poorly fitted aluminum edging on each step. At the top of the stairs I went through another door and then meandered up a narrow sloped corridor to the rooms. The rooms were actually not bad, but the shower door did not fit properly in one room, & the shower & light had pull cords, neither of which was identified or discernible. Has the ownership no idea of what is expected these days? I simply cannot believe that this is rated 3-stars. Oh, & btw the fire doors are LOCKED downstairs: the staff has to unlock with A KEY! Front door to street & rear door to patio facing sea. And they don’t let you in to the place until AFTER noon to leave bags. Easy to solve these issues, but no American would put up with this!

The property is pretty much what you would expect staying above a pub in a really old building. If I'm honest, the complaint I have is that the beds might possibly be older than the building. Some new mattresses and foundations are long overdue.

Time For A Refurbishment

The location is the reason I stay at The Two Lifeboats when I go to Sheringham, but the rooms are starting to look a bit tired (especially the bathrooms). This was the case a few years ago & quite a few people I know stopped staying there for that reason, especially as prices were still going up. Everything else was fine.

Had a nice stay, pleasant surroundings. It would have been nice to have 2 chairs in our room rather than the one stool. I found the food in this area to be quite expensive for what it was. Food at the hotel was adequate.

What a local treasure.

A dear little hotel, situated above a pub/restaurant, right on the seafront, with spectacular views from my bedroom window.

The food was delicious, the staff were friendly, helpful and easily accessible. There were evening meals available at a very reasonable cost, which I would well recommend.

Long term parking was available at £7 for 24 hours, just around the corner and the same ticket could be used, if you left and returned, later on.

Couldn't ask for more and, certainly, will be back in the future.

Close to main high street

stayed one nite for 1940s weekend, extreamly busy. Staff were over stretched doing 16 hour shifts with no breaks.
Exceptional service from Arron,
Room was pleasant, a bit of a mishmash in design. Shower hose was black and dirty! No shower gel or shampoo provided.
teas and tassimo machine provided.
.very steep small stair case leading to rooms.
Very good breakfast menu.
allthough staff did as much as could to make stay pleasant, the place was done up to cover the kinks and a feel of a typical buisness, make the money not the hotel!

Lovely place in a great location

What a perfect location, staff we're very good, particuarly the lady serving breakfast. Room was lovely, bed really comfortable, we thought we were getting a side sea view, but had a fantastic direct sea view in our room! The only negative was the lack of shower pressure. Exactly what we were after for a stress-free one night break!

Great location, perfectly reasonable

The Two Lifeboats is a perfectly reasonable unpretentious old fashioned hotel right on the seafront in Sheringham. The pub restaurant is fine- good beers, quick and polite service, well cooked pub grub and an excellent breakfast. The accommodation was comfortable and all facilities worked. The hotel is an old building with quirks like steep and narrow stairs, (but an external alternative) and thin walls. Water pressure could have been better but in general this was a good value and comfortable choice for us.

We stayed for Our anniversary. The hotel was great. The only complaint I would have is that there was no heating in the bathroom and we stayed in February. We will definitely be back in the summer though and then this won't be an issue. Apologies to the chef as my partner was feeling under the weather so didn't eat his breakfast. I had the eggs benedict which was lovely but I think I have decided I don't like hollandase sauce but the poached eggs where perfect.
