Very friendly people and helpful staff

The hotel staff was so helpful and the property was spotless. Location is great with a restaurant next door. We would recommend the River Valley Inn and Suites.
Valeria
Tippy Canoe was amazing
Kathy
Call ahead if you cannot walk up the stairs etc as they don't have an elevator. It's 2 levels. The rooms we ok, a bit small, bathrooms pretty small. And hot tub jets were not working. Pool was pretty warm and it didn't smell overly like chlorine which was good.
Jessica
It's an older property and outdated in its decor, but it fit my need for the night just fine. Nothing hot for breakfast on a Saturday morning. While carpet in the room was freshly vacuumed, it had definitely been well used for many years. I didn't use the pool or hot tub, but walked through the pool room and it looked decent enough.
Erik
The room was clean. The front desk was not regularly staffed - had to call to get someone to come to the front desk per the sign taped to the desk - just didn't feel like a hospitality industry norm and very transactional (here is your room, gives us the money, go our seperate ways). We didn't see the staff the duration of our stay. The hotel has a LOT of security cameras throughout the public spaces. The hot tub had no air-jets and was WARM but not hot. The pool bathroom was out of service so patrons were instructed to walk back to their hotel room to use the restroom. Continental breakfast was...continental breakfast - waffles, apples, breads, burnt church coffee.

Bedding seemed to be older. .. multiple things were unplugged but the bathroom light being on tripped the breaker anyway . Breakfast was supposed to be from 6-9 . Today nothing was out when we left at 7. . No maid service even though there was supposed to be . Other towels were left outside rooms so it wasn’t just me ..
Rachelle
Dirty room. Carpet very stained up and left my feet sticky and gross. Ran out of toilet paper a couple of times in the middle of the night. Toilet plugged in the middle of the night and waited for a plunger until noon the next day. No elevator, so going up two flights of stairs to get to your room with a bunch of luggage, stroller, car seat, or baby made it very challenging. No automatic doors either, so the heavy doors slam on you as you’re trying to get in the door with your luggage and baby. Pool had green algae on the flooring and stairs. No pool towels available on the weekend. Pricey for what you get, but it is convenient for the location.
Christina
The pool was nice and the breakfast was good

Simple and clean hotel to stay in while visiting the Saint Croix River Valley
Patty
The sheets were clean; the room a bit outdated, the top blanket we took off and used our own. They have a very nice playground out back complete with football and scooter. Breakfast was okay. There is a nice restaurant, the Tippy Canoe, right across the parking lot. Would stay there again
Marjorie
This was a good hotel for the price.
Louann
Easy to find and clean, however, the ac units need WORK! So loud. The ones in other rooms were super loud too. So when ours wasn't going theirs were. Sleep was close to none.
Judith
The room was clean. I had to plug everything in when I arrived. I was so excited to go sit in the hot tub after my long trip only to discover it hadn’t worked in over 2 years! Very disappointing so if that is a must for you, don’t book this hotel. The free breakfast was a bunch of cereal that looked a couple months old the usual waffle maker and packaged pastries. Very unappetizing. Overall, it was quiet and I never saw any staff after check in.
William
arrived an hour early and they wanted to charge us for early check in. the room was already done and ready for occupancy. the hot tub's jets weren't working and haven't been working since our last trip. the kid argued that their website didn't claim that the hot tub had jets. oh well, we canceled our reservation that was scheduled for two weeks from then.

Room was clean and comfortable. The hotel is very quiet. Staff are very nice and accommodating. Never went to the pool so I can't say anything about it.

Check in was very pleasant, the young man who checked us in, was very nice and informative. The room was very clean. The thermostat was easy to understand and control. The pool was nice, it was at a good temperature. Unfortunately, the hot tub did not work. ( hasn’t for 2 years)
JULIE
Convenient and clean midwestern ‘90’s aesthetic!
Jennifer
Pillows are flat, heat in room takes forever to warm up and we were second floor. Front desk staff didn’t stay at front desk has to ring a ring door bell. No elevator. No jets in the hot tub. Concrete in the pool/hot tub area cracking and falling apart.
Thira
The remote did not work, shampoo but no conditioner and when we first walked in it was an icebox and took a good 39 minutes to warm up.
Andrew
Great value, clean and quiet. Easy parking and standard complimentary breakfast.

First floor room smelled like mildew… room, 106
Our room had a stained floor in the bathroom, like there was water damage… The register went on heat is super loud… Room 209
Would like if pool hours or extended to 11 PM for adults.

Was it cost efficient place to stay at. The lady who checked me in was really wonderful. She answered every question I had. We went next door to the restaurant bar . I was really surprised. The food was excellent. I would definitely stay here again.
Colleen
The room and entire facility was very clean and comfortable. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful.
Elliott
The property was quiet.
Cynthia
We tried to check in at 4:00 but rooms were not ready. Came back in an hour. Still not ready and staff yelled at us from 2nd floor no rooms were ready. She did finally come down and checked us in. We went to dinner and then rooms were ready. She said they were understaffed which we can sympathize with but did not appreciate the way it was handled.

The staff was very pleasant. I felt welcome at this property. I would stay at this property again. The staff was working very hard at providing a good stay.
Janet
Property was convenient for the road we were traveling. No one at desk
Desk clerk was cleaning rooms. Room was not available at time designated. Had to wait an hour and a half to get into room.

Good, basic motel. Clean, with helpful friendly staff.
Continental breakfast is bare bones, restaurant next door is terrible.

We chose this location outside of STILLWATER MN to be a bit more out in the country and so I would have a lot of area to exercise our service dog during down time when my wife may be resting; lots of easy access to many of the area's attractions...train, boats, Stillwater, Osceola. There is really now attraction within walking distance as the property is just really out in the country, but I really enjoyed our stay.
I did not give them notice that we had a service animal, but they never said anything

Clean, quiet, comfortable bed.

It was convenient to being in town. Nice little restaurant/bar next door in Tippy Canoes. Hotel is very outdated. Had to unplug light to use Keurig machine in room. No usb plugs in room. Stains on carpet and holes in wall from hairdryer needing to be moved. Needs some updates. Continental breakfast was terrible. Orange and apple juice were both fermented. Milk was sour. Yogurt, cream, butter were all frozen. Cereal was stale. Not enough room for parking when people bring in trailers that take up 1-4 spots.
John
Needs an update and serious freshening. Exterior door unlocked even though there is a scanner outside. Rusting metal doorway and chipped tiles in bathroom. No morning person at front desk. And expensive to boot.
Verified traveler
Always a pleasure to stay there; the breakfast has been scaled back but overall a wonderful experience!

Nice hotel for staying..
Sarah
Clean room and facility, quiet, older decor, typical breakfast options, windows need updating and only one lock on the door, front desk lady was nice

Liked very much.
Judy
Friendly and accommodating staff. Beds are very comfortable. Rooms, hallways, etc cleaned very well. Price was great.
Kimberlee
For the price we hefty price paid I expected a little bit more. Pool area could use some maintenance and where is the button for the jets on the hot tub? Rooms are good...
comfortable bed, put the walls could use some paint.

Costly for the condition of property. Refrigerator was off and there was an odd smell in the room. Staff was friendly and it was a nice location. Decent for the area.
DAVID
Clean room. Breakfast was okay, but made up of mostly starches. Quiet location.
David
Property is clean, quiet and well maintained. I have stayed here before.

Very nice motel with friendly staff. Room felt a little stuffy but got better once the Air Conditioning was turned on. The pool was nice and also used the spa the jets did not work but water was nice. We appreciate the breakfast. Very nice time

Richard
Room door didnt automatically lock…

Arrived 15 min early. Was told couldn’t check in. Left and came back and then it took 12 minutes to get checked in?! Got to both rooms given and furniture was pulled away from walls and multiple mouse traps along the walls. With the 15 min of delay the rooms could’ve been put back together for us. No hot food was provided for breakfast though the equipment was there, sitting empty. VERY DISAPPOINTING STAY. WILL NOT STAY THERE AGAIN.
Kari-Ann
Drain in bathroom needs to be fixed. Other than that clean

Disgusting pool and hot tub.
Room and hotel was clean. Hot tub and pool were filthy and hot tub was not working. I had called before the reservation were made and they said the hot tub was working. Went down the next morning, label on timer hot tub was not working. Plus the dirtiness of the pool and hot tub was disgusting. When i asked the staff they said the hot tub had not been working in awhile but we could still sit in the warm water.

Don't count on free breakfast
We got the room right above the lobby/front desk. Lots of noise until about 10:30PM. Breakfast on Sunday was shown as 6-9, but when I went down at 7, it had been changed to 8. That was too late for me, so we paid for 2 breakfasts that we couldn't eat.
brian
The bar next door
Susan
Breakfast options very limited

Steve
The hot tub was out of service, would not have stayed here had we known.

With 3 kids, appreciated that the pool was open and available. Had the biggest tv in our room!
Room was clean and comfy. There was a hole in the bathroom door where it lined up with the iron that was hanging on the wall, didnt impact us but not a good look. Was told breakfast was 6 or 630 to 9 but when I went down early, there was a note saying it would be 8. It was Thanksgiving morning so understandable. But then it was the same thing the next morning, breakfast not starting till 8. It still closed up at 9 so doesnt give you a lot of time if you are making waffles, etc. There were not a lot of guests so that also may be part of the reason for the shortened time frame. Overall, it was a good experience. Hotel is neat, clean, comfortable and a good deal for a family!

The hot tub is hot but the blowers do not work. Thhey told us breakfast was until 9:30. Breakfast was gone by 9:15.
Joshua
A perfect place for us to stay for our getaway!
Marcia
Bathroom needed painting. Breakfast was posted to be at 6, but when we got there at 6 a sign said it would be at 7. Check in was slow.
Acceneth
They need mirrors!
Not a bad place, but there is only one mirror which is in the bathroom, so only one person can do hair or makeup at a time.
Mike
Clean, in good condition, nice room with king bed and couch with coffee table. Staff helpful. Would stay here again.
Carol
Odd little man at the front desk disappears as soon as he sees someone heading his way. Not outgoing or friendly by any means. Rooms lacked adequate electrical and USB hook ups. Bare minimum provided for breakfast.
Arnold
Clean, nice room and adjacent to good restaurant. Breakfast adequate for us.
Sheila
This Inn Is not handicap accessible and does not state so anywhere. There is no air conditioning in the breakfast area or hallways as well as main entrance. There are 2 stories to the building and the hand rails to climb the steps and haul your luggage up (as a handicapped person) are very loose. I believe a state inspection should take
Scott
Reasonable price
Kevin
clean and quiet for a quick overnight stay
Jeanne
I didn't like no checkout service to get a copy of my bill.
Ben
Great prices comfortable room's and bed. Continental breakfast wasn't much. No meats or egg. Just carb loading available.
Chad
Nice non-chain hotel
Tara
Horrible service, fraudulent charges
We booked this hotel because of the proximity to the train depot and restaurant next door, but will not stay here again. My child got sick from the breakfast juice that then tasted fermented and old. There is a playground set on the property that my son went to go play on but then had signs that hotel guests are not allowed to use it, which was a major disappointment. The pet charge listed on the booking site is listed for $20 a night but the hotel would not honor the price and informed me I had to pay $30 a night. After not authorizing this amount, I was charged anyway and now am having to dispute with my credit card company to have the charge reversed. Do not recommend this hotel after our awful experience especially for family stay. We had a horrible experience and unfriendly service
Dan
no security lock on door. dirty spreads on beds, old mattresses with body shape in middle.very poor breakfast. very limited coffee. entire property needs updating
Karen
Was looking forward to using hot tub but there was no staff on site to open facility.
Everything else was good.

The rooms have been updated the the TV and selections to watch from is the best I have seen in a hotel that is free. Was a comfortable stay with no complaints.

The River Valley Inn in Osceola is super clean, nice size room, nice size bathroom, comfy bed, friendly staff. There's a cool bar/restaurant right next door. And the rates are quite reasonable. The next time I'm in the area that's where I'm going to stay. Highly recommend staying here
Jillian
Great hospitality

Somehow the lock on my room door malfunctioned in the middle of my stay. Staff was very helpful and friendly to let me in my room at the end of each day.

You can only use the pool & hot tub once per day for an hour only. The hot tub was about 80 degrees. Not hot at all. The outside doors stay unlocked all night. Not safe.
Richard
The property was fine. At check in I didn't feel welcome and the lack of openness about potential charges was not explained.
Robert
Good night in Osceola
Motel was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast offered was lacking and the breakfast area consisted of four small tables.
Tracy
Good stay
It all was great except the breakfast. They needed more to choose from.
Tracy
Stay was great. Breakfast not so much.
