This was a wonderful place to stay outside Hofn. The staff was friendly, the cottages are comfortable and charming, and the breakfasts were delicious. It was probably my favorite place to stay in Iceland. We watched northern lights from our deck.

The guest house was modern, clean and comfortable. Semi private decks are nice for viewing a sunrise. I spent some time taking in the morning view and listening to the ocean in the distance along with nearby sheep. I only wish I had a nice hot coffee and pastry to go with it. There is no in room coffee maker and you have to schedule a time if you want to take part in the included breakfast. We passed on setting a time because we weren't sure what time we would be ready after arriving late.

This is the best place we have stayed on our trip! Wish we could have spent more time here. The owner was so kind and welcoming. The rooms are beautiful and very clean. The beds are comfortable. Breakfast is a traditional Icelandic breakfast. It was great. They also have an awesome coffee machine. If you like dogs they also have the cutest puppy. Meeting her was a highlight of our trip.

Very friendly, helpful and accommodating hosts. We appreciated the warm welcome when we arrived late after a long day of hiking. The rooms were very comfortable and had everything we needed. We enjoyed relaxing on the back deck and enjoying the peaceful view at the end of our day. The breakfast buffet was bountiful and we appreciated the hosts sharing the information about the local delicacies. The baked goods were delicious, and the skyr was the best in Iceland! And Magic’s puppy kisses were an added bonus!!

This was our favorite stay of our trip so far. My family rented 3 of the guest houses which were clean, beautiful and very comfortable. The views from the property were amazing. Best of all the family that runs the guest house is welcoming and informative. The breakfast they serve was so good. I could take an entire container home of the skyr yogurt! I would stay again.

Hrafnavellir Guest House was one of the highlights of my trip! Great location - isolated enough for a quiet retreat yet accessible to what Iceland’s South Coast has to offer. The breakfast was specially prepared with traditional Icelandic items. I stayed for the traditional dinner too and encourage you to do the same! The owners are charming and very helpful. 10 stars!

This was a special find! A family run guesthouse with only family members as employees, and a separate “house” (back in attached photo) for each guest. Super friendly and informative. The wife is an artist with a small gallery in the common house (where breakfast and dinner is served; front and right in attached photo). Located about 20 min outside/east of Hofn. We truly enjoyed our stay here and appreciated the privacy, the view, and the company at the common house. We will return on our next trip. Highly recommend!

This place was absolutely perfect! The hose was very friendly and helpful in providing us with some local places to visit. The breakfast was great each morning. If you have any dietary restrictions just leave a comment in your reservations notes and they will provide what they can to accommodate. The rooms were awesome! Rural Iceland comfort

This was the furthest east we drove on our trip. This inn was outside the town of Höfn by about 10km. We picked it due to the remote location hoping to see stars and northern lights in this dark sky area. Unfortunately it was cloudy so that didn’t happen but this guest house was still a favorite of our trip. They were stand alone bungalows and very comfortable. The wind was really roaring but once inside you hardly knew! In the morning our hostess explained all the local items on the breakfast bar including the skyr she personally made from her grandmother’s recipe that could be topped with the berries picked on the property! She made us feel so welcome. We enjoyed visiting with her.

We choose this place due to its proximity to Vestrahorn and estahorn, 20 mins drive to each.

It consists of several cabins which are essentially mini studio apartments with outdoor seating and car parking. There are mountain views in all directions, and two sides of the cabins have patio doors so that it is theory possible to view the northern lights from inside. The cabins were cozy, beautifully decorated and clean, as was the bathroom. Wifi was available and speed adequate. There was no kettle nor fridge inside, but free tea and coffee was available in the dining area in a separate building.

Breakfast was included and was delightful buffet consisting of homemade delicacies such as bread, cake and skyr, and other locally sourced produce. We throughly enjoyed it.

Hrafnavellir guest house is a small family run business who ran the guest house with passion and offered all their guests very warm welcomes, and did their best to make our stays the best possible. They gave us information about the local area, and also ran to our cabins to inform us when they saw northern lights! We were very grateful for that!

I would definitely stay here again.

This is one of our six stays in Iceland and is one of my favorite stays due to the extremely friendly and helpful owners who are a lovely family. The breakfast buffet was extremely good and they are starting to provide some dinners so long to let them know ahead. They are not too far away from the town of Hofn If you want to go into town and have dinner. our unit was very comfortable and had enough room for my husband and I to spread out a little bit and had good views. It would be helpful if they had a small fridge for those of us for traveling around the country to keep our food cold that we are traveling with, but otherwise there is no issues with this place.

I loved the little touches Erin had in the room. Wall mounted, good soap etc in shower. Wall mounted USB outlets, fast free WiFi, very comfy bed, room heated quickly. A pleasant surprise was waking up to the sound of a baa-ing sheep outside.
Breakfast was a homemade feast! (Esp smoked lamb!). Rock collections were fascinating. Also, we didn’t arrive until 10:00 pm and she was still pleasant.
We look forward to returning!!

In a nice remote area outside Hofn. Accommodations were excellent and the view was relaxing and amazing. Was here in summer but this place must even be more beautiful during winter- great place to see the northern lights. You do need to drive several km to get to town for dinner ( or best to get dinner before checking in) but if you want to relax and be within the the beautiful landscape of the East fjords, this is the place for you. The breakfast included consists of both homemade and store bought goodies. It was a wonderful overnight stay during our 2 week trek around Iceland Felt the warmth and the hospitality of our host.

We absolutely loved this property! The isolated cabins with the privacy wall around the entrance was appreciated. While we stayed, we were lucky enough to see the northern lights. Staff took the time to come around and knock on our doors to let us know! Although we already we outside when she came around, we’d set up our camera and we looking in the wrong direction. Really appreciate her coming around to make sure we saw it if we wanted to. Breakfast was included and was a great way to start the day. Clubhouse stays open late if you’d like a hot drink before bed. Staff were nothing but friendly and helpful.

The guesthouses are beautiful and quite spacious. Good black out blinds and comfy beds. It was a nice treat to have shampoo, conditioner and shower gel from an Icelandic company.

Breakfast was SO GOOD. My favourite was the skyr, and my partner loved the tuna salad.

The wifi in the guesthouses was down at the time of our visit, but was working in the lounge/common area. It wasn’t a major issue for us because I had data on my phone, and we were just exhausted, but for the price I would have expected a price reduction or a “gift” to make up for the lack of wifi.

Beautiful, clean, comfortably sized, quiet guest houses. Hosts were very accommodating and gave good information regarding things to do. Location was great for our travel plans.
Would recommend a shower curtain or enclosed shower stall (hard to find anywhere in Iceland!!), and a fan for the sleeping area. Light-blocking curtains (necessary!) made the room warm for sleeping. Opening the window was problematic because of the never-ending daylight.

The weather was unfortunately not great but our host recommend we travel eastward for the day as the weather would be nicer there, which it was. The breakfast was fantastic with homemade baked goods and smoked and spiced cured lamb made on their farm. The room and bed were very comfortable. Really enjoyed our stay.

What an amazingly situated place to stay. In the middle of nowhere in the best way. Not far from Höfn but still a world away. The scenery and landscape that surround you are amazing. And the best part may be the homemade breakfast. In late August we were served skyr, hummus, tuna salad, and smoked lamb that were all homemade and extremely delicious (alongside the usual breads, jams, fruit, hard boiled eggs, fixings, etc). The room was also very clean and comfortable, a great place to rest and refresh. I wish we could have stayed multiple nights instead of just one.

This place was the biggest surprise on our Ring Road Tour and really is a hidden gem. We loved everything about the place. The accommodations were new, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was amazing. The absolute best part of the property is the setting. Just off the main road, on a farm and quiet. You could hear every bird chirp and Sheep baa from miles away. We had a very busy start to our trip but this was the quiet place to recharge. We wished we could have stayed another night. Now temper your expectations there is not a lot to do on site and it is 20 min out of town but to relax and take in the beauty of the region and recharge, nothing better.

Quiet and modern guesthouse with friendly host and hostess. The room is spacious, well-equipped, clean and offers you much privacy. Lovely homemade breakfast included. The cafeteria is open until 11pm and you can have a nice cup of coffee or hot chocolate for free.

The only problem you may find is that the hot water tank contains a limited amount of water and it can run out if you use too much. It's supposed to provide shower for three people but somehow our hot water ran out after I took a shower (not longer than usual...maybe I do use more water than I realize...) and my husband had to wait miserably until morning to take a shower...
