Room was clean and serviced daily at request. Didn’t clean sink daily and only fresh towels if we left old ones on floor. No fridge in room.
Nice size room and comfortable bed.
TV challenging - not many stations to watch reception staff very friendly.
Bar staff not very helpful friendly.
Restaurant- the one night we went - was dreadful:
- had to ask for menus after 15mins. Wine we requested not available even though it was on the menu and the one we order was plonked on table with no offer to taste, pour etc then when we requested an ice bucket - none available.
Meals were very bland and presentation poor. No soup spoon for the seafood chowder. We had local guests join us from the area and they were shocked. Staff were not friendly in anyway.
They need professional training in hospitality.

From check-in it was so friendly and helpful and nothing was a problem even though we were early .
We ate in the restaurant and the staff again were so fun and welcoming and we even met the chef who knew lots of patrons and the food was so professional and tasty .
The view from the restaurant and outdoor area is amazing and makes it worth while just to see and the weather was great and all of Dublin was clear .
The charm of the place and the friendly staff make up for a building that’s been loved and used for many years 🙏

The hotel is very tired, we booked a superior room at a charge of over £200 a night which advertises as having a walk in shower and every photo on the booking site shows a table and chairs however the shower was a tiny cubicle and very dirty. The room was too small and only had 1 chair and another at the desk not suitable for lounging though. We hardly slept as the other guests (large same sex bookings) were very noisy through the night and in the daytime there was building/maintanance noise. We thought there was an Italian restaurant on site however that is no longer there so the breakfast room doubles as a restaurant but is more cafe style. We also paid for breakfast which was very limited, the continental consisted of fruit, 2 meats and 2 cheeses but no rolls only sliced bread which was still frozen on our last day. We did not use the swimming pool as you have to buy a swim cap to use at a cost of €5 each, there was no mention on the booking site of this. The only saving grace was the staff were helpful and freindly. All in all, this has put us of staying in hotels and will be going back to Airbnb or premier inn style hotels moving forward.

We got there early and understandably couldn’t check in early, but the man behind the desk didn’t help us with our bags and just watched as we struggled to get them into an unlocked room. Overall the staff was pretty unhelpful. No rooms have AC and our room was facing the ocean, which was beautiful, but when we got into our room it was HOT and no one bothered to open the window to let in fresh air. There was also no refrigerator in the room, or even an ice machine in the whole hotel. We had to beg the bar to give us some ice to put our room beers in, and they weren’t happy to share. The entire property is large but pretty outdated. The rooms are spacious and you can’t beat the view of the ocean. But be warned this is NOT in Howth but actually Sutton which is 1 train stop from Howth and will take 30+ minutes walking. We didn’t check out the pool. If we came to the area again, we likely wouldn’t stay here again, and would look for a place to rent in Howth.

Breakfast was decent, nothing spectacular, a bit expensive for what you got and they were understaffed. Overall a great place to stay for location and price.

Lovely hotel. Arrived by bus (102) from airport. All the staff we met in dining room, bar, reception, & housekeeping were great. Nothing was too much trouble. Everything is to a good standard. Rooms are very comfortable. Food good too.
Swimming pool a real bonus. It was quiet and the changing rooms spacious and had underfloor heating. Get towels at reception. .
Walk through the hotel garden straight onto Sutton beach, and head for Howth for a good walk.
Dart and different buses handy for getting about if you don’t have a car.

I actually found the Marine by accident. I'm glad I did because the whole experience was awesome. The hotel was built in 1897 and has the classic lines and architecture of the time. The views from the rear of the hotel were amazing Irish sea views that are available in the lobby and dining room. We didn't get a sea view room because they were all booked.
Even though our room was on the front of the hotel closest to the street, our room was super quiet. Since there is no air conditioning in the rooms, we opened the windows and still wasn't bothered by noise. We were there in early May, so the weather was perfect for sleeping with the windows open.
We ate the breakfast buffet every morning. It's simple fair of egg, sausage, bacon, hashbrowns and a bread selection with local jams and butter. Of course, hot tea, coffee and multiple juices. Everything was fresh and always full. We also ate supper two nights and the food was excellent. Theres not a huge menu selection but it was more than adequate.
The bar was as cool as the rest of the hotel with a decent liquor, wine and beer selection. The bartender is a real worker who buzzed from one end of the bar to the other, always attentive and knowledgeable.
Our room was clean, large and comfortable. One small complaint was the bed. It was a little on the hard side.
When we make it back to Ireland, I would not hesitate to stay at the Marine or recommend it to friends or family.

The room itself was lovely but the staff was either overwhelmed or didn't care.
The room was booked for 3 but had only been prepared for 2. We had to go to the reception desk to ask for an extra set of towels because no one answered the phone. We ran out of toilet paper our second night and there was no one at reception to get it for us. After waiting 15 minutes, I went into the lobby bathroom and pulled off enough to get us through the night.
Also, our shower head was super difficult to use - someone had to come and show us how to use it.
Too bad. The hotel is well-situated and quite nice.

The hotel is a bit tired in places, but still offers a comfortable stay. The staff are friendly and welcoming, which really adds to the experience.

The restaurant serves good food, and the pool is clean and relaxing. Its location near the sea is a big plus, and it’s also close to the train station, making it easy to get around. There’s plenty of parking as well.

Overall, a pleasant stay with good amenities, despite needing a few updates.

The pool, sauna, and steam room are nice. The property is in a nice location in relation to downtown Dublin and Howth, both of which are reachable by a nearby train station. It can be tricky driving into the parking lot of the hotel as the intersection is a bit odd but overall an excellent stay.

Room was too warm, had window opened but was so noisy with seagulls at 6am we had to close it.
Breakfast was luke warm, with only 3 items of hot food.

Our room was perfect - overlooking the water with a balcony. Had dinner there one night - my husband was very happy with his food, mine was just ok. I'm guessing at least one staff member was inexperienced as she got someone's food order wrong and one person in the party had finished their meal completely before the second person started eating, and we have arrived home to an email telling us we owe for our meal as it wasn't dealt with at the hotel. We would definitley stay there again, but probably wouldn't eat there.

General Impression: This is a really fantastic hotel, and we really enjoyed our third stay here relaxing, exploring the local beaches and enjoying the leisure pool and hotel areas when we weren't out exploring Dublin City. The hotel décor is pleasant and interesting, though we didn't have time to eat in the restaurant this time.

Staff: The staff were really lovely and we felt very welcomed and all of our requirements were taken care of including a last minute change we requested to our room which was above and beyond.

Area: There is conveniently a large supervalu store just across the road (5 mins walk) and also a few cafes in the same area including insomnia and camille thai.

The train station (Sutton Cross) is a short walk away or you can take the bus to Dublin or to the airport.

We hope to return again soon.

Breakfast is not there, string point, buffet style, with very limited options for hot food and a toaster section that takes an episode of Coronation Street to produce my toast. The bar is nice but very small, and the evening meal is not much to write home about.

Fire alarm went off at 6am both mornings of my stay, and not even an apology from reception when I checked out, just people smoking in the rooms, what can I do?

The rooms you can tell are undergoing some transformation, but mine was very tired, and my bath panel even danced for me when I opened the door.

The grounds are beautiful, and possibly within time, this hotel will be a gem again, but I was disappointed with my stay overall

The hotel was excellent throughout, the bed was extremely comfortable, the room spacious with a wonderful view. The bathroom was spacious and very clean.
The dining areas are well served by warm friendly and professional staff. FOOD was excellent!
We will definitely return as our stay was relaxed, easily accessed from the airport and has good local travel links to use instead of driving everywhere. We had beautiful walks and the hotels fitness suite very good - swimming hat needed.

One of the best midweek stays I have ever had. The room was extraordinary, clean and spacious and so comofrtable and the staff went out of their way to make me feel welcome as a solo traveller, checmking in with me each day to see how I was so that I felt welcome and comfortable. I ate at the hotel each night and the food was first rate and there was a good selection. The setting was right on a beautiful beach with views across Dublin Bay that could be enjoyed from the large windows while eating breakfast, pure magic.

We had a slight issue with the furnishings.the Management sorted it and looked after us to the point when we checked out they helped carry our luggage to our car. Breakfast was very good , location for us was spot on. Special thanks also goes to the bar staff, the guiness was fantastic. Breakfast staff were also very professional and helpful too. Brilliant stay and returning in April.

Staff were lovely on reception. We stayed in a standard room but it’s dated and the furniture is worn.
The bathroom shower was leaking the whole time and definitely needs replacing asap.
The toilet didn’t work we had to flush 3 and 4 times and it still didn’t flush properly.

We still love this hotel but the standard rooms definitely need upgrading asap. I would love a free upgrade to a superior next time we bisit which we intend to very soon.

Lovely Hotel for visiting Howth & Dublin.

Generally, a good stay and a good hotel. Amazing sea-view from the room. Good-sized room with a comfortable bed and a large shower room. Great service from the staff, especially Aoife. It would have been a nice touch to have a bottle of water in the room and tissues in the bathroom. Also a fridge in the room be nice. Sadly the lift wasn't working during our stay, hopefully will be repaired soon.

The Marine hotel is in a lovely location and would have been grand in its day but it is “off the boil” now and needs some investment in refurbishment. Lift didn’t work on any of the three days I was there, the carpets are old, worn and torn and the decor is dated. Fortunately the access and car parking is easy, the staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are a good size.

Great Hotel in a beautiful bayside location with easy access to Dublin city centre, 20 min bus or train ride at your doorstep.
Staff are more than helpful. Cafe and grocery market across the road.
Rooms are clean, spacious and nicely decked out. The bay view room is fantastic. Will stay there next time I'm in Dublin.

The Hotel is in a great location for those exploring the many surrounding golf courses, Croke Park or just visiting the city centre. It's only 20 mins from the centre of Dublin with public transport (bus or train) right at your doorstep, as well as a supermarket, cafe precinct across the road for all your needs. It is a beach front property with magnificent views of the bay and a beautiful front garden to take advantage of the views.
Facilities in the hotel were clean, very comfortable and spacious. A historic hotel restored to its former glory.
The Hotel Manager, reception and cleaning staff were always responsive and went above and beyond to look after their guests. If you don't want to be in the hustle of Dublin city centre yet would like easy accessibility when required, this is the place is to stay. I highly recommend and look forward to visiting again in the future.

Everything was excellent but the room (104) smelled of damp, particularly the bathroom and this spoiled our stay.
We did ask to be moved but the only other room was not suitable.
If there had been no smell I would've given each category 5 stars
