Hotel despotiko is an old dated establishment near Mykonos town . The lobby area and receptions looks very old al dated, rooms the same, need renovations ADAP.

Overall, it was nice, clean and convenient. My room was a nice blend of traditional and modern. So convenient to the bus station and town. The pool was very basic, not very enticing or welcoming. The breakfast area was warm and stuffy, and the breakfast was overpriced at 15 euros. The staff was very nice and friendly.

Absolutely loved this hotel. Great location walking distant from Mykonos town yet nice a quiet for great rest. The staff went above and beyond to help us with anything we requested. The rooms were new and the pool was stunning. Highly recommend this hotel will definitely return

Amazing hotel right next to the town and with a great pool which makes it amazing.
Great breakfast (bit expensive for what it is though) the rooms are very nice and comfortable!
However, stay away from THE NICEST room! Room 41 is bigger, very nice but terrible smell (like stagnant water or dirty pipes) and a plague of little bugs in the bathroom!:S

The guy at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. The location is central and close to the bus stop. However, the brief walk on the street can be a bit dangerous. The rooms had a slight moldy smell due to humidity. In the lack of using air conditioning.

Dated. Staff not helpful. I had to cancel the last night and he said he would refund. Didn’t. Disappointed in the place overall. Sorry but not sorry. I travel and use hotels.com always 30 or more nights a year. This is the first big miss on the representation of what you expect. The cancel had nothing to do with that but our flight got changed. So it was disappointing they didn’t refund but it wasn’t the main problem.

Despotiko is located just a short couple of minutes away from the main town area - making it an easy access to nip back anytime for recharge. George A. was also an amazing manager - he helped us with some printing matters for our ferry. The room was clean and spacious. Highly recommend this!

I enjoyed my room- nice view and the AC worked well. Also the pool- very nice.
The hotel is a little bare-bones- no food available aside from toasts etc. No transport to the airport or port.
Service was good but not super friendly in general.
I asked for a late checkout when rooms were available and they had zero flexibility with some excuse that they needed to air out the rooms for at least 3 hours… it doesn’t take 3 hours to ventilate the room. Basically the message was we want you out.

Lovely place!! Close to everything and was a wonderful place. Pool is a bit weird as it doesn’t have any shallow areas haha.
Staff were great and the beds were comfortable.
There’s a hotel cat that’s soooo cute and friendly and loves to be around people.

This is a beautiful hotel with very nice rooms and pool area. They allowed us early check in, which was very helpful as we were super tired after a very early flight.

hotel is nice, located just few minutes from Fabrika station. Has many rooms and nice pool. And the lovely part are the cats in the hotel :). The personal is pleasant and helpful. Our room was 31 and we enjoyed, just in the future I would like to have room with more view to the sea. Othewise hotel is really very nice, the room and bathroom is great, clean. We enjoy the pool and relax by the garden. Breakfast is for 10 EU.
The room we received was different than on the picture, hoping to get the one we saw, but we enjoy the room.

Clean, great spot if you don’t mind the hill.

Complete party town! Nice hotel, wish we had a better view, the place seemed quite/not fully occupied yet we had a small balcony overlooking a sad courtyard. If we stuck our necks out and around we could see the water. One other drawback was this hotel is on a hill and the 5-7 minute, steep hike up was less than pleasant after a night on the town ( which is perfectly located at the bottom of the hill) Another bonus is that the buses to the various beaches are also right at the bottom of that hill. Ditch the stilettos for a chunky heel ladies and get your party on!

Amazing!!

Amazing location, so close to the old town, where you can find amazing restaurants, bars, shops and photo spots. Also within 5 min walk to the main bus stop that takes you to some of the beaches and beach clubs. The hotel staff were so nice, and really welcoming! There is air con in every room, so you can adjust the temperature during summer. Highly recommend overall! Will come back next year!

We liked that the property was really clean, very friendly and accommodating staff as well - especially if you need help carrying your heavy luggages because you have to climb stairs to the entrance. The only con I can think of was the narrow road. Though the main area is walking distance from the hotel, we had a bit of a hard time walking down the road because there’s no sidewalks. Other than that everything was great and we enjoyed our stay!

The hotel is really quite nice but the rooms are quite small and many require a lot of stairs to get to. The hotel itself is just out of the main town and up a hill on a rather busy road with no real sidewalk. Not a big deal but not great if you don't like stairs and walking up hill!
Otherwise the staff is really great and there is a nice pool area.

Despotiko Hotel Mykonos

Stayed at this hotel in August 2018, and would basically never stay again, after having paid an absolute premium for what is essentially a run down hotel.

Room is outdated, tight for space, no breakfast was provided with room rate which was excessive.

Hotel would not pickup from airport, so my friends neighbouring hotel picked me up!

Stairs creak from foyer to room

Room servicing occurred too late in day

Aircon was turned off so when you returned the room was hot

No water was provided which is not right

Entrance area is always blocked with cars, motos

Hotel staff and building feel tired

There are much better options around Mykonos

Nice hotel on busiest road in Mykonos

A good option for a few nights stay, unfortunately it is on one of the busiest roads leading into Fabrika station in Mykonos so it can be a little loud with beeping and high pitch scooters. The rooms are fairly small but the pool area is nice to sit at. The service is ok, I do feel for staff in Aug in Mykonos, the town is overrun and locals and staff are exhausted so I don't blame the lack of enthusiasm at yet another tourist coming to visit. They have a dinning area and meals area at reception but you are not allowed to sit in these areas if you need to use your computer, you have to sit outside which can be hard going on a computer screen and extreme sunlight. It is close walking distance to Mykonos main town, I would not recommend families with prams or small children as I felt I risked my life each day walking on the road the hotel is on to get to the town. No footpaths so it is you v's coach buses and motorbike/ATV riders driving 100km/hr on scooters with little on no experience. A nice hotel but be warned about the busy road with no footpaths.

The pros: amazing location, super friendly staff, great pool, great value breakfast 10 euro/day extra.

That said, I'd look elsewhere during my next visit.

The cons: I visited during peak season and standard room was about $300/night. I would say it was worth $185/night for these reasons: a great location comes with a lot of street noise, the walls were thin and it's a party city (enough said), the drain in the bathroom had permanent standing water which caused the room to smell like mildew and keeping the bathroom door closed was super noisy especially in the middle of the night.

The hotel location could not be better. It is a walking distance from the little Venice, stores and restaurantes. Is is about 3km to the airport, and easy access to the beaches from there. The Hotel is very clean and quiet. The staffs are supper friendly.

Despotiko Hotel has a lovely pool and is close to the old town of Mykonos. Breakfast was ample and had good hours. Two less than perfect items are the road to walk down (less than a five minute walk) is hot and dusty and filled with traffic) and while the staff is lovely, they do not offer (or are not aware) of information on the various tourist activities. stay here if you know exactly what you want to do.

Firstly, got in the hotel, I didn't even get a "good morning" or a "hello" just a rude blank stare. The lady was not very welcoming to say the least.
Secondly, the room was very tiny even for two people, barely enough space between the wall and bed.

-- > How can you charge 65euros more for a third person on a unsteady uncomfortable rollover bed ?!

The bathroom was also very tiny. For 300 USD a night that's a little pushing it.

No coffee in the room, no tea... you have to pay 3 euros for it.

Thirdly, do not get the (also grossly overpriced) breakfast, at least if you don't want to get a cleaning lady pulling your plates and asking you to leave at 10.45 am.

Hotel was clean and convenient from noisy center, but the wi-fi was absolutely poor...weak and if being connected to wi-fi is important or necessary reconsider. It's a good 5 minute uphill walk on the road next busy cars and mopeds from town center (bus depot) so after a long night of drinking & partying be careful! Staff was helpful.

Very Racist Staff- Done Take a Chance

Wow, so much to tell. Walked in after a 22 hour flight and they told me I needed to wait until 2pm for checkin. Now I can understand that. So I asked if I could sit down in the lobby chair and close my eyes a bit. He said sure. 5 minutes later the manager told him to tell me that I can sit there, but can't close my eyes lol. Haha, I mean who does that. The owner was very racist to foreigners from day 1. My fiancé and my brother showed up the next day and I asked for 2 more rooms. They said absolutely. Not even 10 minutes after they told me no problem, they saw that my fiancé and brother were younger and Americans that the women said we were out of rooms. She looked at us like we were going to rob the place. The staff themselves were ok but you could tell that the older women treated them bad, which came back on us. The. The

Last thing is mosquito issues. I woke up the first night with bites everywhere. Around 3 am, I went to the lobby and showed them my bites and they were quite sympathetic. I was red everywhere. I told them if this happens another night, I need to cancel my 3rd night. They wouldn't and to top it off, they came to my room with some mosquito spray and wanted to spray the entire room and my bed with chemicals lol. How are you suppose to sleep with your room smelling like that and lay on a chemically sprayed bed. I can't get the guy doing it and explained why you can't do that.

They cater nicely to Greeks, but not foreigners. I sat in the lobby and watched

The hotel is on top of a hill on the outskirts of town and very close to the bus station. The geographic location of the hotel is good BUT to reach the hotel, you have to walk a long and very steep hill with NO sidewalks and cars, buses and ATV's passing at high speed centimeters from you. Its a VERY dangerous and strenuous walk and if you have luggage, be ready for a real workout going up the hill. The rooms are large and old and the bathrooms need urgent retrofit. The lobby and its facilities are old and have not seen much retrofitting in years. I would stay here if there is absolutelly no other option.

Despotiko Hotel is a short walk to the beginning of Mykonos town, meaning it's close enough to walk to a few times a day but far enough not to be amongst the constant noise of the town.
The hotel lobby is a little dated, but the rooms are spacious and fairly modern. They have a good airconditioning, shower and a nice court yard if you prefer fresh hair. The pool is also a decent size and really nicely done.
Our only issue is that we were room 1, which is very close to reception (never experienced this before). We were constantly hearing the reception phone ring, as well as the ins and outs of all the guests. If you know Mykonos well, you know that 6am is when most of the younger crowd arrive home from a night out.
I'd stay here again but definitely request to be further from reception.

I originally only had two days booked but loved this place so much I stayed for four. Great value!!! The pool area is great and a nice place to relax away from the busy town. The lady on reception was really helpful and recommended a great travel agency. The room was very comfortable, clean and secure (you have lockable shutters). The breakfast was one of the better choices I've had. Fridge in your room, aircon and TV. Some reviews have mentioned the walk up the hill. Yes you need to be careful as it's a busy road, but it's only 5 minutes so as long as you don't have any physical restrictions you'll be fine. So close to town and the bus station, but out far enough that it's not noisy. I'd absolutley stay again.

Really enjoy the staff and location (it was close to my friends staying at Elysium & Rochari). The room was cleaned very well each day, and the pool was relaxing for a few days. The only downside was the fact the road was dangerous to walk down to get to the center of town (as there are no sidewalks). Great, friendly staff rents cars across the street also.

The staff was very friendly and the place was nice (although we spent little time there). Contrary to a Trip Advisor report the staff are lovely. The pool area is very pleasant with a windmill poking over the wall. The rooms are clean and kept that way. The breakfast room is well decorated with a scary ming vase to catch out any wobbly guests from their night binges. There is a yard adjacent to the bar where you can quietly sup Mythos before heading out into the mayhem ! It is just far enough away from the noisy bustle of the town but still close enough to walk into the shops & bars.

Great place close to town.

spent 8 days here and loved it. had a few concerns with the room but these were taken care of very quickly. Front desk staff very helpful, though always on the phone so tough to get help if you ware in a rush. Great proximity to town - yes, it is on a busy road but only 100 yards and not that big a deal. Double glazed doors were very appreciated, especially we had a room ear the pool and the "flamboyant" Italians were very loud, as were the Americans late one night. rooms were nice, but we had 2 single beds made up separately then just pushed together, Ask fro room 33 - great little seating area outside the room to enjoy the weather late at night.

My Despotiko Experience

I really enjoyed my stay. The hotel is beautiful...especially the pool & patio. Breakfast was wonderful, although I was under the impression it was included...still very with it. And the staff did attempt to fulfill my requests, they just got busy at times...which lended to a longer wait time. And I did request a room with a view for the rest of my stay, as I was there for 4 days, but never got one...which wasn't that big of a deal. The one thing that really bothered me, was the internet connection...it kept going in & out & was very frustrating. I did tip the staff at the end of my staff, which seemed to be frowned upon by the hotel manager...that was a bit disheartening.

Great location, short walk to town

We had a great 3 night stay on our honeymoon. The only problem was that we hoped for a double bed and they were not able to provide one but instead pushed two beds together. That was not idea but the hotel is very cute and well cared for, the pool area was great and its a perfect location if you want to be near town rather than by a beach. We took the beach bus to two beaches which was very easy.

Nice hotel full of character.

Flet very welcomed although late and bag taken to my room. Very friendly and very helpful staff who all responded quickly and appropriately to my needs.
Someone was always on hand to help. The hardworking owner appeared to be there from daybreak 'til night every day.
Small safe in the room but had to pay E1 daily for the detachable lock and key. Small additional cost but seemed unnecessary given the daily room rate was in excess of E200.

The hotel room was adequate and clean. The only negative aspect of this hotel is that when you want to walk to shops, you have to dodge cars.
