First of all, the journey to this hotel is spectacular. Upon entering our room, we felt comfortable whilst surrounded by a lovely room, perfectly accented for a mountain chalet feel. This is a high quality hotel with great food, (breakfast and dinner). There is a shuttle available in the mornings to the train station. The walk isn't long, but it is up hill and we used the laundromat there; the lift helped a bit! We hope to return soon! Ursula was warm and gave us wonderful ideas on how to enjoy her village and the alps.

Beautiful property, and stunning views. Owner and staff were warm and friendly. Dinner was delicious, and a good value. Breakfast was beautiful. Would have loved to stay longer. It is a bit of a hike from the train station with luggage, but they have a shuttle that will take you to the station in the morning. My only complaints, and this is nit-picking...seats are too close at dinner (was uncomfortable for an introvert) and there could be a bit more protein options at breakfast. That being said the fried eggs were cooked perfectly and were delicious. Will always have fond memories of our stay at Hotel Alpenrose. Do not hesitate booking. You will not be disappointed.

The hotel has been under continuous family ownership and management since 1880. Quite amazing. Rooms are up to date and immaculate. This may be the best hotel experience in 60 years of travel. We had a very convenient stay at Hotel Alpenrose Wengen. We took the dinner offer which was really nice specially given the price (20 EUR per person). I particularly enjoyed the cheese buffet at the dinner. The breakfast was also very reasonable. The room was comfortable and clean.

This was a great stay!! Conveniently located 5 min walk from the train station, the rooms were cozy and the lounge area with the coffee machine was the perfect place to spe d a rainy day. Staff was super welcoming and easy to arrange transfers from hotel to train station. Dinners at the hotel are a must! Great 4 course meals for a great price. We will be back!

My husband and I have food restrictions and they were very accommodating and made every effort to make our stay pleasant and comfortable. Our Hotel Alpenrose Wengen stay was the highlight of our trip to Switzerland! We were fortunate to be upgraded to a lovely apartment in a separate building making our stay even more comfortable. The hotel is spacious and beautifully furnished. All our meals there were 5 star as well and we couldn't have been happier with our choice to stay here.

My wife and I were originally staying for three nights but extended an extra night because of the wonderful experience at the hotel and the beauty of Wengen. Food is delicious and convenient, and we appreciated the option to dine in the hotel for dinner, especially since the meal was very reasonably priced. Highly recommend staying here, and we will definitely be making a return trip!

and easy access/ connectivity to main attractions like jungfraujoch, and many other picturesque villages. It is 5 mins walk from train station. However, they provide the shuttle service. They will send someone to pickup/drop.
Breakfast, a great selection of options.
There are very good trails nearby....Staff is very nice.

The three-course dinner for 20 SF is the biggest bargain in Switzerland.
Above all, the views of the valley and Lauterbrunnen are incredible.

Wengen is an underrated but spectacular town. Everywhere you look you got a view of the Lauterbrunnen valley and waterfalls. Quiet and cosy town. This hotel is in a perfect setting overlooking an amazing view. Hotel staff have also been superb and offered great service with a smile whenever I had any requests. 10/10 hotel experience.

Beautiful family run hotel in quiet location.

Lovely quiet hotel away from the hustle and bustle of the centre but only a short walk away, every morning the hotel will take you straight to the gondola if you don’t want to walk. You can leave your skis or boards at the shop next to gondola for free, which makes walking back a breeze. We’ve stayed in the centre before but the church bells kept us awake whereas we didn’t hear them at all here. Dinner was fantastic, 5 courses served to a high standard every night and staff were very attentive. Breakfast was lovely too and kept us full all day. We will definitely return to this little gem.

We visited in late September and were so happy to have stayed at Hotel Alpenrose Wengen and thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality of the hotel staff and the surrounding beauty of the Swiss Alps. Our room had a breathtaking view of the Lauterbrunnen valley and the sight of the snowy mountains and the lush green hills and cliffs is just mesmerizing! We hiked down to Lauterbrunnen one day and really enjoyed the Capuccino at the Flavors coffee and bar. The hotel is not far from the train station, but with some slope along the way. The hotel offers a quick shuttle service to and from the station when you have luggage to handle. The restaurant offers a great tasting dinner with different menus every night for €20/person. The bed is very comfortable and the bathroom may be a bit tight for a big person, but we were not bothered at all. Definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.

The hotel will send a porter for pickup to/from the train station when you arrive with luggage. Otherwise the walk is about 5-10 minutes to most places in Wengen.

The early morning views from the balcony are breathtaking. It’s such a treat to watch the sunrise or golden hour from a room with a valley view. The complimentary breakfast starts early and has a good selection. You can also order dinner for 20CHF. The staff are lovely, typically very friendly and attentive. The location is about a 6-12min walk from the train station, but the hotel offers shuttles.

We had an amazing stay at Alpenrose. It’s a charming hotel overlooking some spectacular mountains. The staff were amazing and food delicious. At 20CHF, the 3 course dinners are a steal and breakfast was always fresh with made to order eggs. The walk to the train station is roughly 8 mins and half of that is uphill so if you have a stroller or knee problems , it’s something to be wary of but that’s true for most hotels on the mountain. Like others have pointed out, the rooms can do with a kettle for hot water and brighter lights. Overall, very satisfied.

What can I say, this was the most perfect stay. What a fantastic warm and welcoming family run hotel.
I was actually glad it rained for 2 of my 4 days in Wengen. I was able to fully relax and enjoy this wonderful hotel to it's fullest.
The food was wonderful, especially the fine 4/5 course evening meals which were extremely good value.
All the staff are a credit to the hotel, always smiling, friendly and professional.

I was there with my wife in the middle of summer for four nights. Supper friendly staff. Beautiful Swiss Alpine hotel. Breathtaking View from our room. Awesome breakfasts and dinners. Very clean. Comfortable beds. We did not have fridge and phone in our room, but we really did not need them. Safe boxes are in the hotel’s reception with a small charge which was ok for us, but I wish that was in our room. I highly recommend this hotel and definitely I will go back there if I want to stay in wengen.

No ac like most hotels. Would come back here & stay in Wengen. More quiet than Grindelwald. Which is nice if u don’t want the bustle of all the day tourist.

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Alpenrose. They were very quick to pick us up from the train station in the middle of the pouring rain. The room was nice with the balcony overlooking the waterfalls. Breakfast was beautifully laid out and had more than enough choices. Dinner was optional for 20 Francs. That was a deal for the lovely 4-course meal. My only complaint was the lack of a kettle or coffee pot in the room. It would have been nice to settle in at night and have a cup of tea.

This is our favorite place in Switzerland. I could have stayed here for weeks. We had the most delightful room with stunning balcony views that online photos do not do justice to! The hotel also has lovely common rooms and outdoor seating areas. We took advantage of dinner in their restaurant both nights of our stay which was excellent. They were kind enough to give us a perfect place to sit for our anniversary. The breakfasts are also outstanding. The staff is a very kind group and we were immensely impressed by Ursula. Absolutely loved this place. There is so much beauty in Wengen and this hotel is in exactly the right spot. Hope to return some day!

The interior deco is all wood which is what I like, very cozy and warm feel. Room size is adequate with amazing mountain views. Staff very friendly and very helpful in introducing activities and local outings. Breakfast and dinner are both delicious and of good value. We had originally selected the property to get a Mountain View room. What they counted as a Mountain View was whether you could see a mountain if you leaned into one small corner of the room and see a sliver of one of the lesser mountains. We then spent a sleepless night as every time someone used the central stairs, it sounded like a basketball court was directly next to the room. That combined with the fact that you had to wait for 20 min at the front desk until someone could check you in and that you could not get to the hotel via car makes it the worst hotel experience I’ve ever paid $300 for. There are much better options in the area.

Out of this world views in Wengen

The views from the deck on the valley-facing rooms is amazing!!!! After 2 stays, I still cannot figure out whether the \"mountain view\" means you're facing down the valley (which you want!) or facing the mountain at the back.

The rooms are clean and modern. It's an older building so sound proofing is not great. The service is very friendly and helpful, and they are happy to arrange lifts to/from the train station since it is a bit of a walk up/down the hill to the hotel with your bags.

They have a great deal for the fixed price dinner in their restaurant, and you can view the menu at reception so you can decide before you reserve your table. The food is great. Note to solo travelers: Make a special request for a table round the edges of the restaurant so you're not placed in the middle of the room under the spotlight, so to speak. Because... they will NOT switch you with anyone else, even if none of the 'anyone elses' have actually arrived yet. Welcome to Switzerland.... no exceptions to the defined procedure :-)

Overall, it is good value for the money, and I hope to return!

Very nicely located with a beautiful view of the alps from the front. The path to the station is a steep uphill walk but in mornings they provide a drop to the station which was very efficient. Also, they provide a pick-up and drop from the station when you arrive and depart.
The front office staff, the owners and the restaurant staff and extremely pleasant and helpful. The four course dinner is really nice and so is the breakfast
WiFi was very poor.
Our room was small but comfortable. Downside was that there was no facility to make tea/ coffee.
Overall, a very welcoming hotel.

Just as nice the second time!

Once again, Alpenrose provided a lovely stay. Rooms are spacious, fabulous views, sitting area, large bathroom with tub and two sinks. Beds were OK, could probably use mattress upgrades soon (sunk in a little; really not bad). Love the windows and doors that open for fresh air. We got Half Board and it is a great value, with delicious meals. Really the best way to go in the small town of Wengen. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The common areas are so warm and inviting. The outdoor space is beautiful and relaxing. This was our second visit here (first three years ago), and we're so happy it's just as nice as the first time! Absolutely get a view of the valley with the mountains and waterfalls. Day trips on the train are so easy to Lauterbrunnen, Jungfraujoch, and more.

The Hotel and dining staff are excellent. We enjoyed the breakfast that was included in room price and a Great dinner deal with the salad bar and dessert for $20. Awsome location. Great views from any room. We enjoyed 3 wonderful nights and 6 great meals at Alpenrose.

This hotel is much better than what I expected! Location is great! We are so glad to chose to live in Wengen instead of Interlaken because is car free city and you can almost guarantee to have a good night sleep cause you won’t hear any car or people pass by after 7pm. Check in was easy and staffs are so nice and helpful, they gave us a room with the Mountain View which is a plus! We are so regret that we didn’t stay for another night. Would definitely stay there again !

Swiss Alps wonderfulness

My Mountain View room had a gorgeous view over towards the valley. The room was simple but modern and clean. The bathroom was super modern. The front desk service was friendly and very helpful. They sorted me out with a ski pass for the same price as going out to buy one. They also picked me up at the train station, and took me back at the end of my stay.

The only downside was that the rooms have hardwood floors so you hear people stomping around.

My pet peeve as a solo traveler: I had a lovely dinner in the restaurant, but they seated me in the well-lit center of the dining room, where I felt very conspicuous as the only solo diner. I was early, and most of the same-sized tables along the edges were still unoccupied. But since they had already “assigned” those to guests who also made reservations, there was no flexibility to switch me. After much requesting and debating heading into the village fir dinner instead, I finally got moved to a center table next to a pillar that was slightly less spotlit. The food was great though, especially the dessert buffet.

We totally enjoyed our stay the the Hotel Alpenrose. The staff is excellent, the room was spacious, and the view was awesome. We did the full board option and found the food to be very good and for the price - a bargain. They have a Thursday buffet dinner and it was over the top.

This hotel is gorgeous, clean, quiet and perfect. Staff was wonderful, my room was bigger than I was anticipating with the most glorious view. Breakfast was delicious with a good variety of food. They had a \"shuttle\" that picked you up at the station and dropped you off but it was an easy walk to get to town.

We never stayed there as they overbooked and sent us to Villa Ludwig. Alpenrose was unapologetic, even rude. Villa Ludwig however was a blessing in disguise. Friendly, comfortable, and great views from our balcony of Neuschwanstein.

It is a very nice hotel with small but comfortable and very clean room. Fortunately, I got a room with the stunning view of the mountains! And I can also see many stars in the sky in the little balcony! The hotel also offers great food. They have different themes each day with good price! Amazing experience!

I stayed at the hotel at the end of May and it was an experience I will have for the rest of my life. Dan and his family have owned the hotel for 5 generations and they could not have been more warm and welcoming. The hotel is very clean with modern facilities but with a clear mountain Swiss chalet decor with light wood paneling throughout the hotel. The mountain views are second to none. I highly recommend this hotel if you are going to stay in the region and want to have an experience you will always remember.

Hidden gem in Jungfrau region

We stayed there from May 19 to May 22, 2018

1. Room and facilities
Nice, clean and cozy. There's nothing to complain about.

2. Best service ever.
The hotel staff picked us up from the train station in the middle of night and they drove us to the train station when we leave.
4th-generation family-run hotel. Daniel speak fluent English and very knowledgeable about the area.
He spent good amount time of helping us planning our activities. He called places we are going to make sure they are open.
Breakfast is included. And what a treat! The best breakfast we have ever had. Everything is very fresh and of top quality.
It also offers a 5 course dinner for 20 chf. Make sure you make reservation.

3.Best location.
Located right on the edge of the town, but within walking distance to center of town. Also at trail head to explore the wild and waterfalls of Wengen.
The hotel faces down the Lauterbrunnen valley and Staubbach Waterfalls. Every time you step into the yard, you see this stunning waterfalls with the bells ringing in the wind, flowers bloom in the meadow. You can hardly nudge your feet away from the spot.

We have been talking about coming back to Wengen and Alpenrose Hotel ever since. A month now since then, back in the US, we are planning on next trip in Wengen, Switzerland, staying at the same room at Alpenrose.

cozy hotel for a comfortable swiss experience

we absolutely loved our stay here! it was beyond our expectations and really made our trip in switzerland with stunning views of the alps from our balcony (on clear days). it's close to the wengen train station, which makes it easy to hop on a train to visiting other towns (but be sure to spend some time strolling around in wengen, too!). alpenrose offers a buffet breakfast and set menu dinner (typically, 4-course), which we totally took advantage of. the staff was great, too! super polite and helpful.
