This hotel was charming! if you love history and antiques, this is the place for you. The 100+ year old elevator alone is worth booking this hotel. We had a beautiful bay facing view that was great! The room was period antique but not stuffy and the hotel owner Katie showed pride of ownership in all the details.

Property was well maintained, but offers no television and ice machine is always empty. Staff is nice, but town offers little. No real breakfast establishment, only 1 pizza place and an ice cream store. No other eating options. Stay in a different town that offers normal necessities.

The Opd Wheeler hotel in Wheeler Bay Oregon.

The Old Wheeler hotel is a jewel in Wheeler, OR. The owner is always attentive but not hovering. Each room is nicely decorated reminiscent of the 30-50s. The bathrooms for each room is in the hall but is it not a problem. The views of the bay and marina are great from the rooms. I recommended this place without reservations.

Katie, owns and operates This historical and classy hotel. Million dollar views from each stylish rustic, comfortable and antique rooms in this small pass through city along HWY 101 in Oregon. If you like looking for old things, then next door is a huge antique mall also in. Large historical building with many rooms of a great selection of antiques and old nick nacks to choose from. Nonetheless, great stop here, which I will return to again.

A lovely old hotel, with a lot of charm!

I was under the impression that we would have an in suite bathroom, but that was not the case. A minor inconvenience. The room was comfortable, with a nice view of the river. Breakfast was simple, but if you want a hot breakfast, there is a cafe called The Roost right next door. It was a nice, relaxing weekend. If we go again, I will be sure the confirm that the room is self contained.

Charming boutique experience by the bay

Staff was great, very friendly and full of information about the property and local area. Common areas were clean and welcoming with beautiful views of the bay. The touches throughout were beyond charming and gave the hotel charcter and sense of place. Our room (8) was adjacent to the breakfast room, but we were never disturbed by noise. The only downside was the bed was very uncomfortable and we were both up in the night trying to find relief from the discomfort. I appreciate the attention to detail having antiques throughout the hotel, but the beds are one place I would have appreciated a break in charcter in favor of comfort.

The WORST hotel I have ever stayed at. I’ve never had to write a bad review of a hotel before but here it goes. The short version of events.
The owner of the Old Wheeler Hotel disclosed names, room numbers and disabilities to me unprompted as well as my own to her guests. The owner of the hotel also violated several clauses in the American Disabilities Act- and committed two federal offenses during our stay. Impressive considering we were there for only one night. If you are anything less than nubile I would suggest you book elsewhere. The Old Wheeler Hotel is uninformed and discriminatory.

Perfect Romantic Getaway!

This little gem was the best surprise of our trip. The outside is rather plain, but wait till you go inside! All 1920’s Art Deco decor that is absolutely charming. Every little detail lovingly added in the rooms and common areas - even beautiful china for your breakfast! And the view from each room of the water across the street is especially beautiful at sunset. A romantic getaway, with a very friendly staff, in an idyllic little town.

The Hotel and surrounding area were great. The Saloon across the street has a patio, and if you are lucky enough to get a patio seat at sunset, it's AMAZING. Also, a block from the hotel is the \"Rail Riders\" attraction. You get on a pedal car and ride the train tracks through the mountain, it was a highlight of the trip. The area, the attractions, the scenery and beaches...it was all top notch. Thanks!

This is a small, beautiful old hotel, lovingly decorated with antique furniture and linens. Some rooms have a bay view. At the same time it has modern amenities including TV, DVR, Wi-Fi, renovated bathrooms, and a good collection of DVDs. There is a comfortable breakfast/sitting room with hot water, teas, cocoa mix, and apple cider mix.
All rooms have private bathrooms, but be aware that some are detached and will require a walk down the hall. Bathrobes are provided.

The room had that old time feel without being old time. The view out to the river and bay were great. We sat on a bench by the pier and watched the sun go down. We went to a nearby restaurant and had a nice dinner. We visited Tillamook the next morning. The Old Wheeler was a very good choice.

This is not just a hotel, it's an experience. Peaceful, friendly in a very small town on Nehalem Bay. The decor is beautiful, full of antiques, the view is amazing. This is my second visit. Love it.

Great place to stay, we stayed in room 1 which had a lot of traffic noise. Im thinking if you had one of the back rooms it wouldn't have been so noisy. Its definitely a great location for exploring the Oregon coast. Michael was a great host. We would go back.

I really enjoyed the hotel and Katie. The rooms were clean and well decorated. The bed was comfortable. I think the price is a little high for the amenities provided and the continental breakfast should have been more well rounded. It would help if the milk and other offerings were labeled for the less inquisitive guests. However, the granola provided was very good.

Overall a good stay. Breakfast was very not extended continental as advertised. VERY minimal. There is a great coffee shop downstairs in the same building however. Room was not climate controlled and it appeared the ac had been broken for an extended period of time. Not usually a big deal on the coast but this trip it was. Also, room 1 is not for anyone with mobility issues as there is a 2 step-up to get into the bathroom. Beautiful location and good people.

Beautiful Historic Hotel

The Old Wheeler Hotel is the perfect place to stay as you explore the northern Oregon Coast. Wheeler itself is a tiny town, but has a few great dinner spots and a marina with kayak/canoe/paddleboard rentals, as well as a most helpful proprietor! The hotel itself is so charming! It is full of period furniture, each room is completely unique. The entire place is spotlessly clean and very inviting. There are a few 'common spaces' to play games, look at the estuary, chat etc. The continental breakfast is pretty limited, but enough to get started on the day. This place really is a gem; I highly recommend a stay here.

This was the second time we stayed at The Old Wheeler Hotel. It was chilly and I did wish there were extra blankets available, as it was too late to request one by the time we went to bed. The rooms are always clean and I enjoyed the big tub in room 1. Room 1 is next to the dinning room so it was a bit noisy but not a deal breaker.

Call the little restaurant across the street for reservations if you want dinner. We were turned away at the door without a reservation and drove to Manzanita for a lovely dinner.

Our room in this beautifully restored and period decorated 1920 hotel overlooked the bay. The view was spectacular in the morning as the sun was rising. Our room was clean and quiet. The bed was comfortable and the woman who greeted us was adorable and super friendly. We spent two days and truly enjoyed our time at the Old Wheeler Hotel.

Worth coming back

Wheeler is an old town. Buildings are lined up in one side of Highway 101. (The traffic on 101 is minimal day and night, at least in winter.) But the hotel? A gem. Full of period furniture, trinkets, odds and ends, it seduces you immediately. A wonderful 'sitting' room. Tons of books, videos and board games. Educated guests with respect for others and for the premises initiate stimulating conversations. AND, an EXCELLENT restaurant just around the corner!.

A ROOM WITH A VIEW

This is a beautiful old hotel! The thoughtful color and arrangement of antiques is wonderful. Our room (2) has a wonderful view of the bay, and although the hotel is on 101, the windows are soundproof and all you get is the bay, the trees, the sky and weather. Everything is very thoughtfully placed. Manager was a wonderful person who I enjoyed meeting. We'll stay here again. I wish they had a holiday New Years package! There is no insight dining, but there's a wonderful breakfast room where a nice continental breakfast is served.

Gem on the Oregon Coast!

Our spacious room overlooked the bay. Charming older Hotel was quiet and very clean and is just a short drive to other coastal towns. The Rising Star restaurant is a short walk away. A light breakfast is included and the common room offers tables for playing games or watching the scenic outside activities. We plan to return.

Labor Day Paradise

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Wheeler Hotel. It was so peaceful and relaxing. If you wanted crowds you can go to Cannon Beach up the road or go south down to Tillamook, Rockaway Beach or ride the train in Garibaldi. If you choose to stay in Wheeler for the day you can kayak on the bay, rent a boat with a motor, go antiquing, shop in the art gallery, enjoy great coffee and scones at The Roost, or just read and enjoy the atmosphere and history of the hotel.
Katie the owner was so gracious and helpful, that it made you love the hotel even more!
We highly recommend a hotel to anyone that wants to skip the busy life and enjoy what once was normal back in another time.

This family owned and operated hotel is out of this world....really feels more like a Bed and Breakfast due to the amazing service, staff, amenities and personalized welcome sign on door.

I've stayed in a TON of hotels in North America....some very expensive, but somehow, for me the Old Wheeler hotel tops them all. It's an old turn of the century hotel complete with an old lift and seating area in the entrance. There's DVDs to take the rooms, games to play, books to read and a breakfast/coffee area (all included) which looks out over the bay....plus Wheeler itself is this cool small town (along a coast of commercialized coastal town) w/ a great coffee shop downstairs, epic antique store on the same block and one of the highest rated restaurants right across the street.

Quite and relaxing

This hotel is a wonderful old fashioned hotel. When we checked in we were greeted and given a tour of the old hotel. The hotel is a trip back in time. The furniture is all antique. We were in room one but had the chance to look in all of the other rooms as well. They are all lovingly refurbished. I would have loved to see the rest of the building that was not a part of the modern day hotel!

Quirky Vintage Hotel

Stayed for one night while visiting the Oregon coast. Quiet location overlooking the lovely estuary with views of the hills behind. Small boutique hotel with a very comfortable clean room and ensuite with vintage style furnishings in keeping with the style of the original hotel. Friendly owners. Relaxing stay.

All good even with the permanent guests

Sadly we didn't experience any of the permanent guests known to frequent this lovely historic building. Maybe we will be back soon to experience all there is to enjoy at this great hotel and maybe we will have better luck meeting some of the local in residence.
