Cottage was perfect for our Girl Scout ski trip

Amazing place to stay for our Girl Scout ski trip! We rented the cottage which sleeps 12 and had two large, comfy rooms for adults plus large family room and new built in beds off family room for the girls. Well appointed modernized rooms while still retaining an authentic Inn feeling. Everyone enjoyed the breakfast buffet, especially the French Toast. We explored the grounds after breakfast and the girls enjoyed being unplugged and interacting with nature. Overall a wonderful experience and our troop will definitely come back!

Cute, warm and charming cottage with complimentary breakfast - all you need for a perfect weekend. All rooms are upstairs and public space (living rooms and dining areas) downstairs. The barn next door has a play room with a ping pong table, kid pool table, tv and more.

Overall, it was a highly enjoyable stay. We loved talking to John the innkeeper, who shared his experiences and tips for the area with us. The place was well maintained and kept in great condition, with a range of amenities. We thoroughly recommend this place for anyone hoping to explore the Sunapee area and beyond.

An amazing place to escape to

My sister and I loved our night at Dexter’s Inn. The room was spacious, comfortable, and had incredible views of the mountains. The room and bathroom were very clean and had all the modern amenities you could ask for while still retaining a cozy, classic bed and breakfast feel. We would absolutely stay here again, without question!

OMG! off the beaten track. Located in a clearing in the woods on a quiet country road. Wonderful breakfast wonderful host. Comfortable bed. We stayed in the house. Just two of us but the house can hold a lot of people. Highly recommended.

About 7 minutes from Mt. Sunapee

The breakfast of bacon, sausage, eggs, breakfast burritos, fruit, coffee, bagels, cereal, potatoes, yogurt, juices, etc. etc. hit the spot. This is a quaint Colonial Style New England Inn. It has an older style heating system, and the kitchen/common area could use an update but the fireplace was cozy and the proximity to skiing at Sunapee is great.

Beautiful spacious lodge, peaceful & warm

I had a wonderful stay at this secluded 19th-century estate (former farm, turned to extravagant vacation home in early 1900s) with sweeping mountain views and acres of landscaped privacy. Lovely bedrooms are on 2nd floor, room after room of common space downstairs, including quiet reading room with sofas and fireplace, huge \"lodge\" area with tables and chairs and chess and games and fireplace, a comfy TV room, halls decorated with fragrant holiday greens, a fully-kid-furnished children's play room. Huge converted barn across the driveway has game tables (ping pong, billiards) I didn't have time to enjoy. Friendly long-time owner/innkeeper went out of his way to assure my comfort, and made me hot breakfast of my choice in the morning. Wish I could have stayed longer!

Beautiful Inn

Very Beautiful Inn was surprised not to see a TV in the bedroom , didn't realize there was only 1 in the livingroom area where everyone could gather. It was a very pleasant stay and very homey.

Quiet Stay at Reasonable Prices

We had a corner room, so there were plenty of windows to let in the sunlight and breezes. The day was hot and humid, though, so we used the air conditioner, which worked fine. The bed was large and comfortable and the night was quiet. There are plenty of common areas where you can mingle, or cozy up with a book. The breakfast was good. The views from the front are gorgeous! We did have problem logging on to the wifi, and were never able to connect to the internet. If you get a second floor room, be prepared to carry your luggage up the steps because there is no elevator.

Stay was great, John the innkeeper was fantastic, and the hotel was as described. It's not the hilton but nor is it supposed to be, it's a great old farmhouse from a time long ago. I would recommend this place to anyone. My only regret is we couldn't have stayed longer

A cute little place

Such a sweet & cozy B&B! My husband and I enjoyed the pool and playing shuffleboard with our morning coffee. The grounds are well-groomed which I think helps keep the summer bugs at bay, but bring spray if you're sensitive it's a rural area. The small town is only a few minutes away which has a few restaurants, general store and ice-cream shop. (I didn't see any vending machines or anything, so if you get the late night munchies be sure to have bought items in town) Also note: The place is BYOB, but they have wine glasses etc available to use. Shower takes several minutes to warm up, don't be alarmed! We are from NYC, so we enjoyed being 'out in the middle of no-where'. It's quiet, come here to relax, play some tennis and be outdoors not to party.

dexters was a nice getaway. We will be returning for sure! The rooms are very small and basic but the price is right and the room was clean. The hotel manager was accommodating and allowed us to relax and not rush us out right at check out. An the blueberry breakfast crumb cake was amazing and the best part was I got to sit an eat it peacefully with a cup of coffee overlooking the mountains :)

Wonderful wedding weekend!!!

We just had our daughter's wedding at the Inn and it was fabulous! We could not have asked for anything better. The view is to die for and the accomodations were wonderful. We had the whole place to ourselves and the staff was very attentive and we never wanted for anything. Breakfast was delicious. Atmosphere is cozy. I would highly recommend Dexter's Inn for a wedding or any other occasion! Going to find time to visit again next summer to relax and take in that breathtaking view!

The staff was really attentive and pleasant. John made sure to tell us about the Inn's facilities and gave us directions for a place to eat that night. The room was pretty nice, and the only thing I could have wanted was a bigger bathtub. Overall, I was really pleased with the stay, and I wished we could have stayed longer.

Dexter Inn = Comfortable Stay

If you are looking for a nice, quiet Inn located in the New Hampshire mountains look no further that the Dexter Inn. After a long drive to Inn, found Inn on a mountain with great views. Had a great breakfast next morning, the cook does a great job of providing what ever you need for a outstanding morning breakfast. Inn was comfortable and clean. Thanks.

If you are looking for granite countertops and silk sheets this is not the place for you. BUT - if you are looking for a warm atmosphere, excellent food, kind service, and to be reminded of how wonderful the simple things in life can be.. Dexters is your place. This is my new favorite NH getaway.

Quiet get-a-way

We enjoyed outdoor games for family fun (shuffleboard, croquet, badmiton, horseshoes, bocce, etc) in the B & B's country setting with the surrounding mountains and views of Lake Sunapee. A place for an informal stay with sitting rooms available and a hearty homemadefull breakfast. Great to have activities on sight.

Delightfully out of the way

Dexter's Inn is a delighful old house that is secluded and quiet. It was a very nice change from hotels near airports and highways. The staff was kind, checked on me twice, then left me alone, which I appreciated very much. Rolf (the gentleman that cooked breakfast in the morning) was very nice, very knowledgeable about the area and makes very tasty blueberry pancakes. It's an old house so it's very creaky, however, that added to the charm and home-like ambiance. The bathrooms were nice, but let the shower warm up before you hop in. Once the hot water came up to temperature, showers were excellent. Overall, I had a very nice stay in scenic Sunapee, NH, at Dexter's Inn, and would not hestitate to returrn for personal time off.

Run down but beautiful setting

Although the inn is in a beautiful setting, it is in need of a good facelift and cleaning... there were spider webs everywhere. From the entrance area which was dark and dingsy, to the dining room where the dark vinyl table clothes felt like we were at a take out resturaunt. The overgrown shrubs blocked the view of the mountains at breakfast and the fruit salad was not fresh and was served both days. Our bathroom tub seemed to have dryed spilled paint in it and the bedspread was soiled with face makeup.

I needed a place to crash between appointments I had in Vermont and New Hampshire. The location of Dexter's Inn worked out just right for me. Dexter's is kind of a cross between a bed and breakfast and a hotel. I arrived at 10pm and the inn keeper checked me in and gave me a brief tour before showing me to my room. The room was clean and comfortable. The inn had wifi. Guest rooms don't have TVs, but there is one in the main guest area. Breakfast came with the room. There was a choice of continential breakfast items, plus a chef who takes orders for hot dishes. I hope someday to have the opportunity to stay at this inn again when I can relax and really enjoy the quiet and beautiful location.

Dexter's Inn - wonderful New England charm!

My son and I stayed here for one night while I attended a conference near-by, and we loved it! Beautiful grounds, cool play \"nook\" for the kids, very neat and clean premises, and our room are all reasons to return. The staff were friendly, helpful and very accommodating. We would definitely return!

IT WAS MORE DIFFICULT TO LOCATE THAN WE EXPECTED AND NOT WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE OF SUNAPEE. BUT IN A BEAUTIFUL LOCATION LOOKING OUT FROM THE TOP A A HILL ACROSS TO MT SUNAPEE.
EXCELLENT BREAKFAST AND A VERY PEACEFUL PLACE.
THE SWIMMING POOL AREA NEEDED TO BE TIDIED UP AND THE POOL NEEDED A CLEAN.

Dexter's Inn, Sunapee - charm and friendliness

Dexter's has a great location, on a quite road and with a beautiful view of Mount Sunapee. Staff are very welcoming. Facilities on first floor (porch, dining room, lounge, TV lounge) are very inviting.

A quiet and relaxing Inn

The inn was clean and confortable. The grounds are well kept and it is a nice quiet location. The decor is dated. I think they have opportunity to do better with their the breakfeast, the coffee was watered down and this is a simple thing to fix.

Nice, economical place to stay

We were very happy with our stay at Dexter's. Our room was a bit small but clean and comfortable, and a very good value for the price. The Inn is very cute and well-kept, the location is gorgeous, and the cross-country skiing right out the back door is great. Good breakfasts too. We're hoping to return soon and would highly recommend Dexters.
