The location is extremely convenient for Taroko Gorge and the surrounding areas. The view from our room was just magical. My son has dietary restrictions and the staff all remembered and made sure to point out everything in the breakfast buffet that he could eat (which was plenty). The buffet was delicious with a mix of local and western options. We felt comfortable and cared for. Highly recommend.

This hotel was a real gem. The food at the restaurant is really delicious! The staff is really nice. I highly recommend if you’re going to the Taroko Gorge. (As of this writing, the gorge is still undergoing repair, but we were still able to visit with a guide).

The property is newer than its peers and sits just minutes (driving) from the entrance of the breathtaking, unique and spectacular Taroko National Park. All the rooms look out to the gorgeous view of the ocean/sunrise or sunset/and the famous Qingshui Cliff, which is a delight to wake up to. The service at Liiko is nothing short of 5-star. The genuine warmth of the lobby managers, front dest and kitchen staff. Breakfast offers seasonal AND local produce, with Liiko's "homemade" items. All taste fresh, high quality and delicious. This review would be a remiss if I did not mention the gorgeous private, large and impeccably manicured garden, where 2 ducks call their permanent home. There are also 3 well behaved kitties on site and cared for by the hotel staff, whom you may see lounging around living their best lives. I will definitely come back, as this is my choice of stay when in Hualien/Taroko.

The room was clean, the staff was very helpful, and the food was great. I cannot more highly recommend this hotel. We came here before in 2023 when we were hiking in Taroko and stopped here on our trip down the east coast this time even with no plans in Taroko just because the hotel is so lovely.

Exceptional stay.

Taroko Liikko Hotel ranks the highest in my list in terms of exceptional excellent customer service from all my years of travelling and staying in hundreds of hotels all over the world. This hotel treats you like you are their house guest and not a customer. Every staff gives her best and goes all out to serve and help you personally. I have great respect for the bosses and indeed felt very honoured to have stayed here and experienced their hospitality.

It's a nice property, a short distance from Xincheng railway station. Facility is clean, nicely designed & decorated. Staff is warm and helpful. We planned to visit Taroko national park but due to the earthquake from 2024/04/03 and subsequent typhoons there are extensive damages and almost all the usual POIs are closed and local transportation unavailable. The front desk went above and beyond to help us hire a car for half a day so we could at least see some sights - we're very grateful. Shortcomings are few - beds are hard (no pillow top mattress); we messaged and called for a pickup from the station but they ended up forgetting - we have to call again from our international number and the shuttle showed up soon after. Overall still a solid recommendation and when Taroko is restored we love to come back and stay longer.

So relaxing hotel

We stayed to visit power plant near there. We arrived in evening but the staff was very kind and booked their restaurant for us. The room and view was nice and we liked friendly staff service. The cats were so cute! In the morning I could enjoy the walking around the coast and small temples, not so much shops but so attractive place.

Wonderful hotel and employees

We were in this hotel when the big earthquake hit (epicenter about 10 miles south) and it was very scary. The hotel staff were so nice and calming and reassuring. they got right to work cleaning up all the broken stuff and checking all rooms and reassuring people. Then when it was discovered there was damage to the water tank and there would be no water in the guestrooms they found us another place to stay so we were perfectly comfortable and cared for. Vrey lovely, professional staff and very accomdating in a very scary time.

We are so impressed by this hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was spacious, where we can spread out our luggages, and plenty of space in the bathroom to put out our toiletries bags. They offered a discounted dinner at their Chinese restaurant located next door, and a buffet breakfast serving local Taiwanese food and some Western selection too. All the food were delicious.

We had an amazing stay!

We had the BEST stay at Taroko Liiko. The accommodations were great, the breakfast was excellent, service was amazing, and the location was very convenient as the bus stop to Taroko Gorge was right outside. My partner and I both thought it was the best breakfast we’ve had at a hotel (and potentially the best breakfast we’ve had period). The options were great. We can’t wait to visit again.

- Location is great, about 5-7 minutes by taxi from Taroko National Park. The bus stop is across the street and also very quick although not so frequent. Its a 30-40 minute walk if nothing is available.
- The dinner restaurant is tasty but with limited beverage selection. However, you can bring your own if you like.
- Breakfast buffet is fine
- Rooms are very spacious

Tarako Liiko Hotel was a comfortable stay for us as a couple. Pros: Room was big with a picturesque view of the mountains. Aircon can be controlled by an individual remote, making it efficient and comfortable. Bathroom was large, with heater+ventilator. Reception desk was always well manned, with helpful employees. Their breakfast spread while limited in selection, was sufficient and tasty. Quick 5-10 min drive to the beautiful Taroko Gorge. Cons: I can see how the parking lots can be filled up quickly by guests during the peak season. It is about a 20-25 min drive to Hua Lien City center, not the most convenient for travellers who prefer to be closer to restaurants and shopping.

We loved our stay in this hotel! The staff are extremely attentive and friendly. They offered to pick us up from the train station at short notice and really went out of their way to take care of us including providing custom options for breakfast (since my wife doesn’t eat meat). They provided directions, patiently answered our questions and even booked a taxi for us to visit Qingshui Cliffs. The restaurant next door (part of the same hotel) has great food.

The location is terrific - 5 min walk to Xincheng station and the Toroko bus is right opposite the hotel. We never had to take a taxi to Torko - the public bus is great, was nearly empty, picked us up from across the road and dropped us back at the hotel everyday. There is a Family Mart and 7 Eleven nearby.

We were initially supposed to stay 1 night at the Silks Place but after visiting it from this hotel, we decided to cancel given the hefty premium and extended our stay at Liiko by 1 more night (4 nights in all).


Coffee, tea, beverages and biscuits are on the house throughout the day. The hotel is very tastefully done with a generous and quiet seating area in the lobby. The hotel even has a washing machine and dryer that you can use for free to do your own laundry.
Best part of all are the lovely cats who come and sit next to you and are very approachable and playful.

Great location accessible to stores and restuarant

The hotel has 5 stars quality - clean, roomy and attentive services. It's located just outside of the Toruko National Park with a shuttle bus stop right in front of the hotel going into the park. The staff also gave good recommendations in visiting different parts of the park. It is also location near the town, thus providing access to local restaurants and shops, as well as nearby attractions such as the beach and the Pony Cafe.

The staff was very nice and willingly arranged a ride to and from the train station with no problem.

The major issue we had was the wireless internet in our room. We were told at check in that we’d have access to our own WiFi, but as it turns out, our room did not have any WiFi signal. When we called, we were told to “steal” the WiFi signal from nearby rooms, which was extremely weak. Then on our second night of stay, the internet stopped working altogether, and it was never fixed while we were there. When we finally went down to the front desk to ask for help, we were told the technician was coming the next day to repair the internet, after we would have checked out. Again, the staff were nice, but they clearly had no idea what to do.

The area where the hotel is right by the gorge, but there isn’t much to do except for a few shops. I wouldn’t recommend it unless all you’re doing is sleep in the hotel at the end of night.

Beautiful, relaxing hotel near taroko

Beautiful hotel 20 minutes bus ride to taroko visitor center, the bus stop is across the street. The hotel is also an 18 minute walk to the ocean, and near a delicious mochi store. The rooms are huge and charming with wooden accents. Friendly workers, delicious healthy breakfast, and free tea and some snacks are always available. After a full day of hiking, staying at the hotel made me feel so relaxed. I would love to stay in this hotel again!

Staff Jeff helped her to work with delivery service for her T shirt. She is Beyond our expectations. 5 star services. Highly recommended.

Direct on route to Taroko

This is a really lovely hotel at the foot of the highway leading to Taroko Gorge. The staff are super-helpful and genuinely friendly, the food is good (and they go out of their way for you), and the rooms are well laid out, comfortable, and nicely designed. Everything is very clean, and they are also environmentally conscious about the cleaning products, towel use, and so on.

The only minus is the amount of heavy traffic on the highway to the cement plant next door (which itself is pretty bizarre that there is a giant cement plant in the middle of a natural preserve). Hopefully the hotel and other business owners can persuade the owners or government to close it or at least slow the trucks down.

Bonus of being on highway - the extremely good local bus service goes from the hotel. Take it!

Lovely hotel close to Taroko park entrance

We loved it here. It’s a beautiful, cosy hotel without that big hotel feel. Close to the national park and we managed a lot of early morning walks before the tour buses arrived to the park. We could even park our car just at the front.

This is an excellent choice for visiting the Taroko Gorge. The hotel property is very nice. with a very pretty lobby and garden area. The hotel is across the street from one of the public buses that runs throughout the national park. The staff are very helpful in answering questions about how to get around, checking whether trails are open, arranging a half day taxi, etc. We ate breakfast and dinner there two days and the food was very good, with an excellent selection at breakfast for a small hotel. The rooms are very simple but perfectly comfortable.

Fantastic hotel. Beautiful view of the mountains and the sea. You're so close to Taroko, it's the perfect base to explore the park. We spent three days here, and we felt pampered. The staff is incredibly helpful, they reserved cabs and scooters for us, made sure we had everything we needed. The breakfasts and dinners were delicious. Stay here for the full Taroko experience!

Beautiful and affordable boutique hotel, warm and helpful staff, lovely hotel interior and hotel garden, lovely partial sea and mountain views from room, great breakfast with excellent local and western choices. Bus 302 into Taroko George stops right across street (US$5 for day pass, 5 mins to Taroko main gate, 10 mins to spectacular Shakadang trail, 30 mins to awe inspiring tunnel of nine turns stop, 40 mins to Silks Place Taroko hotel, which was way out of our price range ). Liiko hotel is an easy 5 min walk from Xincheng Taroko train station.

Hotel is near to Takoro Nature Reserve!

The check-in is fantastic. The receptionist personally showed us to the room. The room is very comfortable with japanese style toilet facilities. The environment is great as it is filled with greenery such as fish bowl with fishes and plants everywhere. It is very near to Taroko Nature Reserve. It only took us 10 mins to drive there. The breakfast is marvelous too! The only issue is we have to drive 40 mins to the city centre to shop and eat but it is ok as the journey is quite smooth. Highly recommend the hotel to stay in.

Having travelled around Taiwan this was my favourite hotel. The room and all public spaces were immaculate, with wood finishes and bespoke look. Due to the location of the hotel there are very limited options to eat out, however that was not a problem as the meals offered at the hotel were exceptional quality and reasonably priced. The indigenous set menu was amazing. The staff were extremely helpful and went out of there way to provide a perfect stay. Of note was Oscar, who went over and above by helping us book train tickets and then collecting them for us at the Familymart. This was so helpful and reduced a lot of stress. The Taroko National Park bus stops outside and the hotel sell days tickets which is perfect.

The staff is extremely helpful and professional; all of them are bilingual and provided excellent service with attention to details. The room has a great Mountain View and is very spacious. The hot Taiwanese breakfast is included in the price and is very delicious. In addition they have a beautiful patio and a tasteful selection of gift items. The bus stop is right across from the hotel which makes it easier to go to taroko. Also the hotel is very close to the train station, but you can request for shuttle service a day in advance. We love this hotel and will definitely come back to stay if we want to visit taroko again.

There are so many things to mention including the special checkin, meet at the train station in a personal shuttle car, the wonderful breakfast, the room is so modern and comfortable. The beds are all top notch. There are laundry facilities that we appreciated. Oscar at the front desk helped us in many ways including helping us with our return train tickets. The woman in the breakfast area insisted I try the pumpkin, oat, soya warm drink in the morning and I’m sure glad that I did. It was delicious! Her name was Jaili I think. Highly recommend this property. The bus to take you to the Taroko Gorge is directly across the street from hotel.

Best Hotel Experience Ever.

Best hotel staff ever. Incredibly helpful, friendly staff who went out of their way to make sure we are set with transportation, food and comfort. I love this hotel and had a really good stay with my family. Room is clean, comfortable and has a view of the mountains. Will stay here again without question.
