We stayed for 2 nights and 3 days during mid-June and the pool filter was broken such that the pool was unusable during our entire stay. For a remote place with limited amenities in the immediate area this was very limiting and certainly detracted from the experience that it should have been. The staff was gracious and did compensate by providing us a free spa usage which was a welcome experience.
In addition, the meals we had during our stay at the facility were excellent.

Tabiano Castello exceeded all of our expectations it is a very special place staffed by lovely people in a beautiful area of Italy that is great to travel thru.Tour parmesan and prosciutto manufacturers and see the gorgeous countryside We recommend it highly. Their restaraunt is also very good and staff is excellent!

Excellent hotel in an amazing location

The hotel is located in the Italian countryside , which offer breathtaking views. We enjoyed them very much in our evening walks.

Our room was located in the old castle / monastery, that has been completely renovated to offer modern perks, such as air conditioning and a jacuzzi.

The included breakfast buffet was generous and delicious. During our stay we also had a gourmet candlelight dinner in the attached restaurant, which was also delicious. Both places put on an emphasis on local dishes and products - some are even grown on the hotel grounds.

The hotel offers a clean outdoor pool and spa, which we didn’t have time to try.

The WiFi reception in our room didn’t work; however, that contributed to the relaxation feeling that we were looking for in this stay.

One thing to be aware of is that besides the included breakfast, other things (water from the minibar, usage of the saunas and Turkish bath in the spa, bike rental) require an additional fee. We would have appreciated if some of these were included in the price (even at the expense of a slightly higher base price).

Very unique and special Castle in the Parma area.

This is a truly unique place to stay in a magnificent area. Accommodation Is very true to the original buildings. Staff are very real and accommodating. The restaurant on the terrace is superb and very reasonably priced. So good that I have recommended our customers to stay there.

Relaxing and comfortable stay in the countryside

We stayed here for a night instead of staying in Parma. The castle is one of the oldest castles in Europe. The breakfast is great. We didn’t have enough time to take full advantage of all the castle has to offer, such as the spa and the grounds, but it did feel like a nice getaway on our honeymoon. The restaurant in the hotel was also pretty good. The service, as in many places in Italy, was not great but we had 2 pasta dishes that were very good. And given that there isn’t much more around the hotel, it was our only option. We did hear the outlets in Fidenza are good- so check those out nearby (30 min drive) if you like shopping.

Romantic getaway

First of all I would like to thank the friendly and efficient staff, especially Jessica at the front desk. She communicated with us during a traffic jam which delayed us for two hours and waited for us at the property to ensure a smooth check-in. Thank you!

The location is relaxing, rustic and well-kept. Great as a weekend getaway, close to thermal baths and vineyards but also far from noise and stress!

The room was tastefully decorated, and fresh thanks to two nice windows. I cannot say if the rooms become very hot in the summer, but in this period it was delightful. No elevators, obviously. Castle!

The breakfast room is the restaurant that also serves lunch and dinner - warm and well decorated preserving the rustic chic aesthetic. Great selection of homemade cakes and croissants, and savoury options. Dinner was lovely as well - great local wines and cured meats!

We wish we could have also taken advantage of the spa and wellness facilities but we only stayed for one night so... we will be back! Thank you!!

Rustic overnight in the Parma area

We stayed at the hotel overnight as a stopover between Verona and the cinque terre. The location of the hotel is very good and impressive atop the hill with the castle. The sunset view from the church nearby was stunning!
The hotel itself is relatively average; it feels a bit dated and cold. We stayed in a deluxe room which was pretty basic, other than the view from the main room and the bathroom. A very annoying buzzing noise came from the electrical switch which was pretty painful! We had dinner at the restaurant which was fine, nothing spectacular.
Nothing too bad, and fine for an overnight but wouldn’t stay there much longer.

Castle Experience

Driving to Antico Borgo di Tabiano castle is not easy: it is near Parma, but from Parma almost an hour drive , especially the road to the castle, definitely not high way. But it is definitely worth the driving because of beautiful scenery, and castle looks grand. It is unique to stay in the castle, and staffs are friendly and efficient. Dinner is excellent .

Room in a Castle

We stayed in a suite in the Castle, with a great view over the countryside, the room was warm (even had a real fireplace that could be used in winter) and cosy. The room and bathroom (which had a whirlpool bath) were very clean. Staff were very helpful advising on where to visit and we loved meetinng Brutus (the dog) and Luigi (the peacock). We only stayed 2 nights should have been longer! We enjoyed breakfast and dinner, the hotel uses local and seasonal products where possible. The menu in the restaurant was not extensive and we enjoyed the dishes we tried.

We liked the place, the rooms, pool etc. The menu did not change in the restaurant in 4 days we were there and was not happy with this but otherwise it was a great place. A few miles out of Tabiano so had to take the car f you wanted to eat elswhere.

Fantastic hotel much better than the photos show

We were offered an upgrade into a beautiful suite, the swimming pool was spotless , the views incredible. The breakfast room is one of the nicest spaces I have ever eaten in and the food was terrific.
The website photos do not do the castle justice had only booked a night but would have happily stayed forever!

Fabulous views, located in the country side, quiet, updated lodgings situated beside a castle. Tours available as well as being available to rent and hold events such as weddings. Spa, pool, two restaurants available for quests to enjoy. Small village nearby and about 35 mins from Parm.

We had a terrific experience. The tour of the castle and the pool and spa area are magnificent. The staff are very friendly and helpful and go out of their way to assist you. Should have been wonderful...........

We booked this hotel in March for the last night of our trip to Italy. After a hectic trip we wanted a night somewhere peaceful with a lovely restaurant. Unfortunately we were informed a few days before leaving for our trip that we couldn't eat in the restaurant as it had been given to a private party for the evening. We were offered a room upgrade as compensation and dinner booked in a nearby restaurant. Unfortunately the private party were at the pool when we arrived, all drinking and having fun. It made us feel like we were intruding on the party as the pool area is quite small. Dinner at the local restaurant was OK, but not the hoped for experience. Our room was very nice, but being woken at 3.20am by the private party members returning, falling up the staircase and banging doors kind of took the shine off it all. Breakfast was lovely on the terrace. Would advise you check when booking if any large parties are expected as it really did affect our enjoyment of what should have been a wonderful end to our trip.

A must see and stay. Would stay again and longer.

A highlight of our trip. We stayed in 2 different rooms (1 couple and 1 single). Both were immaculate and appointed. The surroundings were breathtaking. We arrived in the dark, so when I first opened the curtains around dawn and saw the surroundings I woke my husband with my gasp. The bed was so comfortable it was not hard for either of us to go back to sleep. I didn't want to leave and would love to sleep on that bed again. It was not only comfortable bedding, but the mattress didn't move around us, meaning if one of us moved it didn't disturb the other person. The kind service was personal and genuine. The homemade cakes were very good and sufficient. Our friend said that he had a generous portion of meats and cheeses for his breakfast with fresh squeezed orange juice. So many people genuinely contributed to a pleasant stay that will be remembered well. Reception offered excellent ideas of things to do and were patient to satisfy our questions about the area. We would have liked to use spa services as the spa was very appealing, but we were limited on time (and slept too long). The prices were fair and facilities were very clean and appealing. It was a bit far from our destination (Castell'Arquato), but I would stay there again knowing what awaits....

Tranquil location on the hills

We booked this hotel as the final leg of a journey down to Bologna, and knew this would only leave us about an hour away. The location is stunning, and the room we had (Imperial suite) was magnificent with views to match. We had a little balcony which we sat out on for a while in the evening to drink in the scenery.
Unfortunately the day we stayed the hotel restaurant was not open, so we ate in the nearby restaurant, which was very good with great home cooked local food on the menu and a very affordable wine list!
The attached spa is good, and the outside pool made a very refreshing end to our afternoon.
Would suggest you do not follow your sat nav to the hotel as it will take you up some very narrow, unpaved roads, there are much better roads to get to the hotel.

Magestic and relaxing

Wow! We stayed for two nights in September for our honeymoon and could not have loved it more. From the breathtaking panoramic views, to the cozy little spa, we never wanted to leave! Our room was lovely, old stone, modern bathroom, comfortable bed and linens. Breakfast was a dream; soft boiled eggs from the on-site chicken coop, local meats and cheeses from parma, all superb. The restaurant on the grounds is run by a man named Oscar and it was by far our favorite culinary experience in all of Italy. From the fresh shaved truffles on our pasta, to the hint of lavender and the delightful dessert table, each course was a work of art. Truly a magical place, we would recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet Italian countryside escape.

A castle with stairs

We stopped here on the why back to London from South of Italy. It is absolutely wonderful and we wished we could have stayed longer. WARNING if you dont get on with stairs or hotels on different levels this is not the hotel for you. Our room was very large with real beams and stone floor. I had a free sauna and swim, my wife a very good massage which cost less then she pays here. Excellent excellent value for money.

Wonderful experience

The hotel is situated in a very picturesque location in the countryside outside of Parma. We were very glad we had a Garmin unit to help us negotiate the many round-abouts enroute. We arrived late and were greeted pleasantly and given very nice accomodations for our ten day stay. Our room had a beautiful view of the surrounding hills, modern amenities, and a small refrigerator. Breakfast consisted of freshly baked goods, eggs, yogurt, and a variety of meats and cheeses served in a beautiful sun room. We especially enjoyed the apricot tarts and fresh yogurt. During our stay the hotel staff went above and beyond to be helpful to us, recommending places to visit, making travel arrangements for us, and a staff member even loaned her personal car charger cord to us for our Garmin because I had forgotten ours. They also sent someone to buy a cord for us in Parma, which literally allowed us to be able to travel where we wanted to go. I can't thank them enough! Also on site is a restaurant/pub which served great Italian food and is not to be missed! I absolutely enjoyed our stay at this hotel and would not hesitate to recommend it others. The only issue some people may have is that the castle is literally located in the countryside, but I consider that a plus.

Amazing historical charm and tranquil surroundings

The room we had was all nice stone walls and ceilings with beautiful wood flooring. There was a nice jacuzzi tub and two spacious rooms. It was very luxurious for the price. The staff were excellent and very helpful. The area is a bit isolated and the rooms are not actually in the castle nearby, but don't let that stop you from booking a night or two as this is a very magical place and location. I would suggest planning to actually spend some time at the hotel and in Salsomaggiore; there is very beautiful wine country and several amazing castles you can visit in the area.

Also, I highly recommend approaching the hotel from Fidenza (A1) rather than from A15. The drive from A15 is about twice as long as the roads are rough and winding (although the countryside is very beautiful if you are up for a nice long country drive).

This stay was out standing - with a welcome second to none. We arrived late but that wasn't a problem for Petra she up graded us and reopened the kitchen. things only got better in the morning the views were breath take everything you would expect and more from Tuscany. We are luck enough to travel a lot staying in some 100 hotel rooms a year and this one is by far the best in every way - real value for money not to be misted. See you again soon Petra.

We LOVED our stay at the Tabiano Castello! Beautiful views, serenity, tranquiity away from it all on a mountain with easy access for ANY driver in a close proximity to spas and thermas, charming small towns and major outlet shopping Fidenza Village. Short trip to an amazing San Damiano, where a statue of Madonna of the Roses and Holy water well, which draw pilgrims from all over the world are located. We loved the Tabiano Castle restaurant - great breakfast, nice dinner, good service - and all this while watching the Castle's beautiful peacoks (peafowl) makes it uniquely special. All of this special charm and comfort are to a great extent due to an outstanding hospitality of Tabiano manager Petra, who really goes out of her way to help the guests not just to enjoy themselves but really help if any issues arize - from picking right vine to rearranging a trip in case of family emergency. We just returned home to the US but already can't wait to return!

SIMPLY MAGNIFICO!

This is without a doubt the very best way to start a vacation in Italy! The location is gorgeous (a little hard to find - thank goodness we purchased Italy for our GPS!). The view from the 2nd floor of the castle was outstanding. The peacocks wake you up in the morning - sometimes rather early - but they are gorgeous to look at. The restaurant was only open one of the nights we were there, but well worth the wait. The very best food we had in all of Italy! Try the aspargus lasagne for an exceptional treat. Also, the owner is the best - quite a character... The castle staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. Overall, a fantastic experience.

Absolutely fabulous stay at this location. On our way from arriving at airport Milan to wedding in Modena area. Had a wonderful meal at Locando del Colle da Oscar right below the Hotel room. Oscar was wonderful and the food was fabulous. Hotel up hill was also very nice and comfortable. Would definitely reccomend it.

Great place to getaway from it all..

If you're looking for a place to go and escape for a few days or a week.. then don't hesitate to book this place. The staff as very friendly and speak a large range of languages so you don't feel like you're in the dark when asking questions. The pool is nice to relax around during the day and the secret garden is a nice little place to get away from everyone. Buffet breakfast each day was delicious - huge range of pastries, eggs, meat, cheeses, fruit, etc... great cappuccino's too ;-)

We loved this castle. We had been travelling for a few days within Italy and needed a hotel room for our 27th wedding anniversay. We booked Castello Tabiano the night before on Hotels.com. What an amazing choice. The hotel is way up on a hill (like you would expect). The views are amazing the staff extremly pleasant and helpful. We were given a room that had views from all 4 directions.
We did not dine at the hotel, we went to Oscars right next door and had dinner prepared by Oscar himself. Everything was fresh that day.
We so enjoyed the staff and the hotel we decided to stay on the next morning and enjoy the wellness centre with massages steam room. You must check out the wellness centre when you stay here, so book a bit of extra time.
We did get lost coming to the hotel, but a call to Petra at the hotel and she brought us right to the hotels door.
We need to thank Petra and her team for giving us an anniversay to remember.

The perfect escape!

Tabiano Castello is worth the extra drive out into the hilly countryside of Salsomaggiore. With modern amenities the castello maintains amazing old world character and charm. The rolling fields of orzo surrounding the property are beautiful. The staff makes you feel like you are home & they were all so helpful! The staff will arrange wonderful spa treaments, cooking classes, horse back riding excursions, wine tastings, and so much more. I recommend the spa treatments & horse back riding highly! The hotel restaurant is only open on weekends but the food is fantastic and a great price! The other restaurant on the grounds, Restaurant Oscar, is not very good. If you have transportation, it is definitely worth going down the road to eat for lunch or dinner during the week versus going to the restaurant Oscar.
Either way, Tabiano Castello was my very favorite experience in Italy. We went to Venice, Rome, Florence, Bologna, & Tuscany yet our few days at the Castello definitely were the highlights of the trip!! ENJOY!

Charming hotel in stunning countryside

A lovely nights stay here on our drive to Tuscany. Did not have time though to have the spa treatments on offer. Our room was in the eaves up four floors a struggle with cases in the heat! But the room was a gem including a roll top bath! Unfortunate damp smell in the bathroom and no water for 2 hrs in the morning but this did not spoil our stay. Dinner a fixed price of 22 Euros we felt was good value and the red wine was to die for! The surrounding countryside was just sublime. If you have a chance to stay in this hotel - take it!

Quiet and Lovely Hotel for lazy days..

We spent two nights at the Antico Borgo di Tabiano Castello in lovely Emilia Romangna area of Italy. The country side was gorgeous, and the food at \"Da Oscar\" was superb, and some of the best we had in Italy during our two weeks. The grounds for the hotel are very beautiful and old, and all the renovations were accomplished while still maintaining the historical ambiance, yet, giving comfort. The surrounding area is scattered farmland, each farm with what seemed to be their own vines for wine making. It was lovely. However, unfortunately for us, we traveled there during some of the hottest and most humid weather, and finding relief from the heat was a challenge. The room, although air conditioned, just could not seem to get cool,and with no screens on the windows, leaving the windows open at night invited all types of insects. Fortunately, the pool helped quench the heat. This is a great place for relaxation, read a book, take a walk, visit a nearby winery (which we did, and found to be challenging but extremely fun to get out among the local people and see how well our GPS worked!), and most of all, to sample some of the most delicious, fresh food of Italy whipped up at Ristorante Da Oscar, the personal chef for the AC Milan Football Club, when he isn't busy with his wife making gnocchi and desserts for his restaurant dinner guests. I would suggest this hotel in the Spring or Fall, when the weather is not quite so hot.

Hotel was difficult to find, singposting very poor. On arrival we were told that the restaurant was not open (they advertise great restaurant and fantastic wine cellar). The manager offered to have us taken to a restaurant about 3 kilometers away,we had to pay 40 euros extra for this service. We did go to the outside restaurant as there was nothing else around the hotel and it was my husband's 60th birthday. Next day some of us visited the hotel's spa. It was not very clean , sand was dropping from the roof to the jacuzzi and they had not cleaned away drinks from the previous(?) guests. The rooms were clean but very spartan, with no extra chairs, curtains hanging badly , no plug in the sink in the bathroom etc. The hospitality in the hotel was lukewarm (even cold).

Pochi luoghi al mondo sanno farti emozionare e farti stare bene.L’antico Borgo di Tabiano Castello è uno di questi.Chi scrive questa recensione è una piccola bassottina di 10 mesi.Mi hanno coccolata,viziata e fatta sentire a casa;ho corso in libertà e camminato tantissimo.(Vabbè,devo anche sottolineare che io sono educatissima e bravissima!).Il luogo è davvero magico:immerso tra dolci colline e ulivi che si estendono a perdita d'occhio,è un autentico gioiello da scoprire.Appena ho varcato l'ingresso del borgo,sono stata avvolta da un'atmosfera incantevole,dove il tempo sembra essersi fermato.Le stradine ciottolate,fiancheggiate da antiche case in pietra con fiori e vasi di limoni,offrono scenari da cartolina ad ogni angolo.Sono stata felice di annusare ogni passo che invitava a esplorare,e ci si perde volentieri tra le viuzze,ammirando i dettagli architettonici del XI secolo che raccontano storie di tradizioni e passione. Le camere sono bellissime,spaziose,comodissime e super pulite;rispecchiano perfettamente l'essenza del luogo.Ti senti a casa:non mi hanno fatto mancare nulla.(Comunque,se serve qualsiasi cosa,basta andare alla reception e chiedere; sono super gentilissimi e attenti),iristoranti del borgo,”Da Oscar\"e il”Ristorante Caseificio”,servono piatti tipici preparati con ingredienti freschi a Km 0.La direzione,tutto il personale e i proprietari sono calorosi e accoglienti,sempre pronti a non farti mancare nulla.Non vedo l'ora di tornare!La piccola Bassottina Elisabeth❤

Vi hadde Superior-rom, og ble litt skuffet over rommet. Det var helt grei størrelse og tilstand på rommet, men ikke noe mer.

Området rund bassenget var litt lite i forhold til alle folkene som oppholdt seg der. På bildene fikk man inntrykk av at man nærmest hadde bassenget for seg selv, men det stemmer ikke. Ett av bassengene på bildene fant vi heller ikke igjen, så det er nok tilknyttet spa-avdelingen. Fint område og god mat,

Splendida la cena sulla terrazza e il castello come sfondo del paesaggio.

Di seguito la mail inviata alla proprietà ad oggi senza una risposta.....

Buongiorno,
scrivo questa mail, in quanto, mossi da dolci ricordi passati presso la vostra struttura, abbiamo prenotato una Suite per staccare dalla routine giornaliera e rilassarci.
Purtroppo la permanenza è stata tutt'altro che rilassante in quanto, appena arrivati, abbiamo appurato che tutti i servizi principali erano inaccessibili come PISCINA e CENTRO BENESSERE e questo, al 20 di maggio, è inaccettabile in quanto non era stato comunicato altrimenti sui portali. Inoltre la camera fornita era contigua a dei lavori di aggiornamento della struttura che non ci hanno praticamente permesso di lavorare da remoto a causa dei continui rumori intollerabili terminati alle 18 e ripresi alle 8.30 del giorno seguente.
Sono veramente dispiaciuto dell'accaduto e spendere 170€ per un'esperienza simile è stato alquanto irritante.
D'altronde la Vostra struttura ricettiva rimane, a mio avviso, da considerarsi unica e dalle potenzialità enormi, aspettative che purtroppo sono state tutte deluse.

Ein toller, ruhiger und uriger Ort. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und das gesamte Ambiente sehr schön. Geplant war eigentlich nur eine Nacht auf der Durchreise, geblieben sind wir dann letztendlich 3 Nächte. Wir wurden auf eine geräumige Junior Suite upgegradet. Vielen Dank.

Zwischenstopp bei der Reise von der Toskana. Die Unterkunft befindet sich unterhalb des Schlosses, verteilt in mehreren Gebäuden. In der mehrstöckigen Unterkunft befindet sich kein Lift, aber die Gepäcke werden auf Wunsch zum Zimmer getragen. Zugang zum Schlossareal ist leider nur an bestimmten Tagen/Zeiten durch eine kostenpflichtige Besichtigungstour möglich.
Die Zimmertüren sind sehr ringhörig, aber dies muss man bei einer historischen Unterkunft wohl in Kauf nehmen.
Schöne Landschaft und Atmosphäre. Sehr gutes Frühstück. Abendessen gut, aber recht bescheidene Portionen.
Insgesamt war es ein angenehmer Aufenthalt, aber für mehr als eine Übernachtung würde mir der Ort zu wenig Erlebnis und Abwechslung bieten.

Fantastisk sted med svært hyggelig personale. De som driver stedet har virkelig sans for farger og sammensetninger. God frokost. Et område hvor du bare kan titte rundt deg og nyte, Masse stearinslys på kveldstid, skapte en flott stemning. Fint bassengområde.

Litt harde senger og et svær lite bad, ikke så lett å få tatt seg en dusj uten å søle og med et forheng som klistra seg til kroppen.

Bardzo fajny hotel i przemiła obsługa. Restauracja hotelowa serwuje bardzo dobre kolacje i wloskie śniadania (wiec pewnie niektórym będzie brakować warzyw). Warto zobaczyć pobliski zamek. Dobra baza wypadkowa do zwiedzania np Parmy, piacenzy.

- Badewanne (Spritzschutz) war beim Duschen leider ein wenig undicht, so dass das Wasser sich im Bad verteilte. Dies war wohl offenbar schon bei früheren Gästen der Fall - man roch die Feuchtigkeit jedenfalls im Zimmer.

La struttura è bella, ma la posizione assolutamente scomoda. Il personale è cordiale, ma il confort e la pulizia lascia un po'a desiderare. Bagno senza bidè e letto solo coperto; è rimasto il pigiama sotto la coperta!!! Colazione discreta. Non abbiamo avuto la possibilità di andare alla Spa perché non c'era posto. Nel complesso il giudizio è positivo, la location è bella e caratteristica, ma decisamente troppo fuori mano

Toll gelegendes Hotel mit schönen Blick ins Tal. Die Zimmer sind liebevoll gestaltet, der Speisesaal hell und freundlch, die Küche ausgezeichnet. Der richtige Ort zum Entspannen mit Pool, Wellness- Angeboten und viel Ruhe. Parma ist in ca. 30min. Autofahrt zu erreichen.
