This hotel is little better than third world. Very poorly furnished rooms, probably 1960. Dirty bathroom. Weeds all over the car park. Cupboard with no shelf. Just looks extremely tired and that nobody cares about guests.
We left after seeing the room and booked in at Bramley House Hotel which was excellent.
I will be seeking a full refund.
DO NOT STAY HERE.

After check in we were advised that we were in “The Residence” section of the hotel.
Upon entering we were greeted by filthy carpeted stairs leading up to our room. On opening the door we were then met by a vile smell…the room had clearly not been used/aired for some time. The carpet was covered in stains, the bed frame fabric was ripped, a freestanding chair was also covered in stains. All this before inspecting the bathroom….disgustingly dirty. Shower door was thick with dirt & limescale, black mould around the bath & taps, really not appealing.
My partner insisted that the room was changed.
This time we were in the main hotel. Albeit this was more agreeable but even so cleanliness was distinct in it’s absence. The sink didn’t drain properly & the shower door support was corroded with limescale once again.
This was a hot evening but the aircon unit had clearly had it’s day & was useless.
We had very little sleep & so was not a restful stay!
Breakfast…..a bit chaotic, continually running out of plates etc or elements of the cooked choices. Eggs were very greasy & the sausages of very poor quality.
Whole hotel is in a poor state of repair and there is no excuse for poor cleanliness.
I would definitely NOT recommend this hotel.
In my/our opinion this establishment would scrape a 1 star not the supposed 3 star it has been awarded.

The room was clean enough although the bath edge needed some black mould removing. Other areas like the lift lobby needs looking at \"cobwebs\"
Staff helpful and courteous.
Food was good and parking plentiful.

Finding the entrance was difficult as only one sign which was from town centre and if entering towards town there is no sign at the entrance.

A 'fairly' modern hotel which is generally well decorated and furnished. Our room was quite comfortable, clean and with tea/coffee and tv. Reception on the TV was not good. Dinner at the hotel was tasty and well cooked as was breakfast.

We had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and all the staff were friendly, helpful, and professional throughout our visit. The facilities were well maintained, and overall we were very happy with our stay.

The only issue we experienced was with the balcony. There were pigeons regularly staying there, and unfortunately a large part of the balcony was covered with pigeon droppings, making it difficult to use and enjoy the outdoor space. We love animals and understand that this can be difficult to control, but we feel the balcony could have been cleaned more thoroughly.

Apart from this, everything else was excellent, and we would be happy to stay here again.

Where do I start! Basically, I stay in hotels quite a bit, and this is my first ever negative experience since using hotel.com. The receptionist came across as unfriendly. While walking to my room, the hallway smelled like someone had been smoking in their room, and the smell lingered around the corridor. The carpets were dirty, with bits of small rubbish on the floor. Upon entering the room, I found the floor still dirty with small debris around. I went into the bathroom, which was very grimy; hopefully, you can see my pictures. I checked around the room, and there was dust and dirt everywhere; hopefully, the pictures will show you the dirt. I certainly didn't have my evening meal here; I was completely put off. For breakfast, all I wanted was scrambled eggs on toast, but I was told we only do fried eggs. The glass I picked up nearly cut my tongue as it was badly chipped. The shower was awful, with no power, and it just dripped out; for me, it was terrible. I will 100% never stay here again. When leaving in the morning, I wasn't even asked, \"How was your stay?\" I simply gave him my room card and walked out; I didn't say anything, nor did the receptionist.

The only positive was the empty free car park at the hotel; I wonder why it was empty!

Was disappointed, I have mobility problems & lift going down was not working. Beds didn't get made so tea, coffee etc didnt get topped up. No instructions how heating worked, no fire exit instructions. Corridors didn't get hoovered. Needs good refurbishment. Plenty of parking so not a problem.

Parking was fine, plenty of space. Hotel very dated and in need of updating. Room odd!!! Massive pillar type thing in middle of room which had a tv attached to it. Tv was too big for said pillar and caused an obstruction. Room was really cold on arrival and the remote for the heating didnt seem to work. Staff were quick to rectify this for us but it didnt get much warmer. We didnt have breakfast so cant comment on that. Overall, i wouldnt stay again unless we were attending another event hosted by the hotel

Really nice hotel. Massive rooms, comfortable and reasonably quiet. Free WiFi is decent but sometimes can lag a little at peak times. Great for electric vehicles to charge also if you have a cable as there’s chargers there for a reasonable overnight cost.

I was pleasantly surprised at the large room with real sized bathroom and shower. The staff were very pleasant and polite. Considering how little it cost I was not expecting as good as I got. The overall feeling is that the hotel is shabby and rundown. We rejected our first room as one of the beds was sagging in the middle, but we were offered another, and thankfully this came with a better bathroom. Everywhere felt cold and we were unable to get any heat in our room, not acceptable in February. A ceiling light wasn't working, leaving half the room in darkness: we were told it couldn't be fixed until the next day, after we left. The pillows were mean and lumpy, the hairdryer was missing, and there was a notice telling us not to stand undressed at the window as it overlooked a primary school! Breakfast was poor and the service brought to mind Fawlty Towers/Mrs Overall. I wish I could find something positive to say, we were just glad it was only one night. Very disappointing.

Room was cold when we arrived, it could have been warmed up using the air con, it took an hour for the room to warm up. There were 2 of us staying but only one towel, which had holes in. Could have done with an extra pillow but there were no extras in the room. Definitely stay there again, it’s really convenient for the local amenities and is suitably priced. A good stay, which could be a great stay, if a little bit more thought had been given to us, as guests.

Room booked into online was twin doubles in the cottage. When checked in was told now in Redhead suite. Very large lounge area with 1 bed in and separate bedroom with other. New carpet but a few scuff marks on walls and a couple of tatty edges to windows but it’s not rated as 5 star. Decent buffet breakfast and staff were good.

It was so run down and filthy!! Tiles on the ceiling hanging down in the bedroom, cobwebs in the room and the previous person hairs all over the bath. It was that bad we booked another room somewhere else!! All staff apart from a young lad were rude, aggressive and verbally abusive when asked for a refund. No pool, sauna ect like stated. The bathroom radiator did not work, so it was really cold in there and there was black mould on the soap dispenser and bath trim. Bathroom overall was very dated. The building is just a bit tired looking and just looks like old offices. It was a bed for the night, which was all I needed. First impression of reception was that needed updating. But then the receptionist came through and he was very helpful and friendly. Putting hairdryer in room and sorting out the television for us.
Breakfast was plentiful with a good choice of cereal , and hot foods
I was working in March and husband came with me. I would stay again. Value for money.

The rooms were clean and big, but very outdated. The bathroom finishing especially was not up to standard, with quite a lot of repairs required. The bathtub kept leaking after every shower. The shower settings were not clear or easy to use. They also did not provide any water to drink, which I would’ve thought was a basic need.

The room was awful! The bathroom had dust strands hanging from the extractor fan cover and mould around the edge of the bath and the plug wasn’t connected to the chain on the sink! The meal I had was awful and I ate 25% of it as it was greasy and terribly cooked and yet it’s called the ‘Cromwell massive’! Massively awful!!

We have stayed at the hotel every few weeks in the last four months to visit family living locally. Although the hotel needs a little bit of work in certain areas ie a little bit of refurbishing, we find it to be close to the high street and has private parking. The rooms are spacious and have everything you need for a short break including air conditioning and tea and coffee making facilities. The hotel has a restaurant downstairs and although the menu is small, the food is really tasty and reasonably priced.
The breakfast is inclusive in the price and there is a good choice of cereals, fruits, fruit juices and a cooked breakfast buffet.
The staff are very welcoming, friendly and helpful and always polite.
We have met Alfie, a member of staff on each occasion we have stayed and we think he is a valuable member of staff. Nothing is too much trouble for him and he can be found at the check in desk, behind the bar and helping in the kitchen.
He’s always very welcoming, polite and extremely helpful, a great member of the hotels staff.
Thank you to all the staff involved in the running of the hotel, you’re a great team.

The dirty room made me not want to have breakfast as I did not trust the cleanliness. I paid £100 for 1 night which I think is totally unacceptable for the state of the room. Will not be staying there again.

We have stayed here before so this influenced our choice this time. The room was very spacious and had air-con which was nice.
The cleanliness left a lot to be desired though. When the beside lamps were on the thick dust on the walls and the lamp base was very clear to see, as was the cobwebs and grime in the corners of the room. The floor had not been vacuumed either. The bed base had some ominous stains running down it too. It was a real shame that the cleanliness let it down.
The staff were very friendly and the check in was a breeze. The breakfast was delicious. We would stay again but the room we were in definitely needed a deep clean unlike the previous one we had which was in the main building.

After looking at the photos of the hotel and noting it had 8.2 star rating I thought this would be a good place to stay for a couple of nights. Sadly this was not the case.
The hotel looks tired, the carpets are stained and flooring scratched in the main areas. Paint work needs renewing. But the biggest problem was the cleanliness or rather the lack of it.
Our room was large and had some good facilities like a TV, tea and coffee and a kettle, sofa bed and sofa and a balcony.
The sofa bed was ripped on the corner and the foam was showing. The leather sofa had a thick layer of dust on the top. The balcony has a net over it to stop the pigeons flying in. Fabulous, except no one had cleaned off the old faeces that was on top of the air conditioning unit or the cigarette butts which were strewn across the floor of the balcony.
The bathroom was just as bad. There was black mould around the shower screen and the grouting and a hole at the back of the screen which meant the water ran out of the shower and onto the floor making it very slippery. The shower dripped continuously to the point where we had to use the noise of the air conditioner to cover the dripping noise. The radiator in the bathroom had cobwebs and dust in it. Things had obviously come off the wall and rawl plugs remained where the holes had been in all different colours. Mattress was dirty so were the pillows and linen was marked. The rainfall shower head fell on my head when I took a shower.

All door locking systems were down for 4 days every time you came back to your room you had to get someone to let you in the hotel is under staff and your always waiting for things to happen checked in Thursday left Sunday the room was never cleaned or any fresh towels breakfast as gone from excellent to poor the sausages u are using I would not give a dog they are tasteless

The location and parking were perfect for us. We found the staff welcoming and supportive on arrival, including sorting out a problem they had with the room key card system. The continental breakfast was very good and there was the option of a cooked breakfast if we had desired it.

The room was spacious and had good seating and a table which we liked. The bathroom, however, was disappointing as clearly it needs updating. The over sink light wouldn't switch on, there was a lot of mould on the bath sealant and an inadequate shower screen that didn't stop water pooling on the floor.

When I arrived there was no one at reception. after a wait of approximately 6 minutes a young man appeared and gave me the key card. I went up to the room and I found that the floor was not swept properly. The towels provided in the bathroom were filthy which prompted me to closely examine the bedding. The duvet cover had stains on the underside so I decided to turn it over. Also all of the room doors were what can only described as requiring renewing. They were scratched and scuffed and looked like they had all been kicked which Immediately made me worry that I'd chosen the wrong hotel. I found out later that the hotel had been housing immigrants for a long while and i don't think that the new owners had actually refurbished since. The outside temperature when I booked in was about 32 degrees so after getting someone the young lad from reception to show me how the air conditioning worked I asked for an extra key card to allow me to leave the aircon on for when I got back in the evening. I was told that the management didn't allow more than one key. The following morning I asked the reception to replace the towels and was told the cleaners would do that. When I arrived back in the evening they hadn't been replaced at all. I went back to the hotel to collect something in the early afternoon so needed someone to open my door as I had left my key in the room but there was no one there at all. I have mor complaints but no more room to express them. The worst hotel I've known.

I stay here at least a few times a month for business trips, unfortunately, it's gone downhill. Quality of the food, the rooms, the only good part are the staff who are friendly.

Now you pay an extra for cooked breakfast (which I would avoid)

Great one night stay. Free breakfast which was good and fresh. Lots of free parking. Friendly and helpful check in staff and good sized room!

Considering it was about £55 for a night, I was happily surprised by the quality of my stay.
