Welcome to Elme Hall, an Elegant Georgian style hotel in a prime location on the edge of the historic town of Wisbech. We have extensive free parking making it ideal for business & leisure travellers.

Our relaxing bar and restaurant is the perfect place for a drink or meal from the carefully selected menus. We are situated on the Norfolk/Cambridgeshire border, just off the A47 between King's Lynn and Wisbech.

This makes Elme Hall an ideal base for exploring the surrounding area and countryside. Wisbech Town centre is approximately two miles away.

The historic market town still has a running market, as well as other popular retail outlets along with several tourist attractions and places of interest, such as Wisbech Castle, Peckover House, The Octavia Hill Museum and Elgood's Brewery. Standard and Luxury rooms offer clean and comfortable accommodation for whatever budget - including single rooms, doubles and family suites.

All guest rooms are en-suite facilities. Free Wi-Fi access is available throughout, along with direct dial telephones.

This should have been lovely, spa bath in room, bathrobes etc but unfortunately it was disappointing.
Tied decor, no bathroom lock, the noisiest flush on a toilet I’ve ever heard, bath plug didn’t fit properly so water drained away, window handle broken so it couldn’t be opened (it was over 30degrees that day).
The reception area smelled like a carvery which was off putting.
My biggest issue was that we booked a room specifically for the 3 single beds but it was made up as a double and a single which was not what we wanted.

Room was tired, duvet was below standard and lumpy, mattress should have been thrown on the tip 10 years ago. The bathroom was in need of a refit too.
I tired the restaurant, ordered the prawn chilli linguine, looked forward to it but was very disappointed. Linguine was in a watery, flavourless soup, tinned tomatoes with a bit of black pepper and some prawns. I ate the prawns and left the dining room, £18 was also a bit steep!!
Reception played music so loud I could hear it in my room, with the TV on and my door closed.
The grounds were nice, although the \"pond\" at the end of the garden had rubbish in it and the water was not pleasant.
Unfortunately I won't be going back, wasn't value for money, Premier Inn would have been better!!

Great little spot. Friendly staff. Decent breakfast. They had a local jazz group playing on Friday night. Fun to listen to. Just 6 old timers singing. They had a large wedding on Saturday night and we were concerned we’d be disturbed by music and the guests enjoying themselves. We never heard a thing and slept peacefully on the very comfy king sized bed.

Room was tidy but a bit worn in places, shower wasn’t very warm, property itself was a bit run down, and there was a strong smell of cigarettes on entry and through out the hotel, room was fresh though But the staff were lovely, breakfast was brilliant, out the way off the main road and quiet at night bed was very comfy! Stayed for a wedding reception, the event room was really nicely decorated and spacious! Bar a bit pricey though £5 pint of coke!

We had a lovely stay. The staff were absolutely amazing, friendly, welcoming, and genuinely focused on giving us the best experience.

The family room was spacious with beautiful décor, and the location was perfect for visiting Chester Zoo (less than a 15-minute drive). The kids loved the games room, and the food was impeccable.

Breakfast the next morning was cooked fresh to order, and the chef personally greeted us. He was so lovely and nothing was too much trouble.

The only downside was that the jets in the bathtub weren’t working, which was one of the reasons I booked. Because of that, I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5. We had a fantastic stay and would definitely return.

A lovely change from generic hotels

Lovely hotel, so nice for a hotel to be different from the large chains who provide the same thing everytime. The staff were all very approachable and friendly, ghe food excellent and the room was spacious and clean. I will certainly return when im in the area.

Peace and quiet with lovely food and staff.

Fabulous!
Pure peace and relaxation (Sunday & Monday).
Lots of good quality attention to detail to make it easy to relax and feel pampered -for example bath cushion and reading board plus candle, mini nail kit, and tooth cleaning set.
Things to keep you busy - ie games sets and books.
The furniture is good old style/ antique ie real wood and lots of paintings in gold frames ( so more National trust style rather than premier inn). Our bed had a good quality mattress and was comfortable.
The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Gary (carried my suitcase, gave us a demo of the room air con, made sure we could find different rooms ok, and that we were all set for breakfast and evening meal.
The food & service was excellent (restaurant closed Sunday night/ open Monday).
The gardens with meandering paths down to the little pool and bridge over the river lit up at night was so pretty. We were lucky to have sunny day and the gardens pretty much to ourselves to read in during the day. There is a lovely circular walk from the hotel down to Hooten alongside the railway.

Don’t even think of staying here

There was a wedding at the hotel with a very loud disco until past 12am and interestingly the staff were not keen to help and offered us to leave at 11:30pm if we’re not happy to stay.
Also the website says £20 charge for pet while they charged us £35 as they said they don’t have the available rooms used for pets.

For the price paid i was happy with my stay. Sure the room is a bit dated and there are some minor paint issues, but i couldnt fault the friendly service and cleanliness. Plenty of parking (even during a busy wedding party) was a bonus too.

Having a water filter jug in the room is a great idea, really saves on plastic bottles, and the toiletry pack was a nice little touch.

It was peaceful and very quiet so no issues falling asleep.

Hidden Gem

A nice hotel, the staff were friendly and helpful. Especially the French chef who was lovely.

The food was very nice and the reception staff were very helpful and welcoming.

Entirely constructive criticism, the hotel itself inside is in generally good condition but the exterior of the building and the car park could do with a lick of paint and bit of general tidy up just to bring it all into balance.


I would certainly stay again.

Ok for the price but shabby round the edges

The hotel is nice enough. The receptionist and waiter were super efficient and friendly.
The food was mediocre. When i booked a table for 7.30 the chef was a little perturbed as he had a party to cater for at the same time.
The room was a good size but in need of redecorating or at least touching up.
They have a water heater rather than a kettle in the room which makes for awful tea.
The TV is a very upmarket all singing all dancing one that needs a technical degree to use. I watched tv on my phone in the end, it was easier.
My room had a spa bath but when i tried to fill it nothing came out of the hot tap. It dawned on me in the morning that i could have filled the bath from the shower, but too late by then!
The showrr however did have really good water pressure.

Property is located in a lovely area bar the camp of caravans located right next to it. They had music playing very loud long into the night.
Property could definitely do with some new mattresses and the breakfast was not great at all and left a lot to be desired for the price.

I arrived late to be told someone else had been given my room my mistake but they could not remove them nor did they have any spare rooms. This meant I had to drive an extra 16 miles to find a hotel that could accommodate me at a late time in the evening.

All in all amazing experience, food was delicious the chef couldnt do more for me (i have coeliac disease & dairy intolerance), everything was made fresh.
All staff were nice, friendly and couldnt do anymore for us, lovely people.
The bed for me was ok but partner slept like a baby, the rooms were beautiful if you like that kind of decoration.
Could do with a little tlc over the hotel but where doesnt.
Will honestly be coming back again !! Made our little break away magical ✨️

The hotel entrance was lovely and fesrive althougb my husband said that it smelt a bit fusty. The ladieat the reception desk assigned us our room and gave us a shortbread biscuit which was a nice touch.
I had high hopes for the room but we were really dissapointed, although clean, there was damp in the bathroom broken and chipped tiles and just general signs of neglect. The room itself was ok but nothing special, there was a storage heater in one corner of the room but other than that not much sign of any heating, not that we could control anyway. Overall really dissapointing and we definitely wouldnt return

Great hotel, with great customer service.

The road leading to the hotel could do with better signage, because I nearly missed the turning.
The hotel was lovely, the bar and restaurant were good, and the food was great.
The Lancaster suite bedroom was excellent, very spacious, with a very comfy double bed.
The bathroom was okay but needs to be refreshed and updated.
I had an issue with the hot water not working the night before, but this was addressed very quickly.
The shower head water pressure was extremely low.

We enjoyed our stay at Brook hall. What made it so enjoyable was the service. Everyone was accommodating and nice. But the star of the hotel is Eddie! He was the best part of our stay! We would go back just to visit with him again.

Very disappointing don’t waste your time or money

Amazing looking property, but looks can be deceiving. Very loud guests, no hot water & no breakfast. The manager is about as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike. It took me three weeks to get an invoice after countless phone calls, in the end I had to drive to the property to demand my invoice. The manager was very rude & when questioned about a refund for the hotel & food, she made the whole incident to be my fault 😩

Worst Hotel I have ever stayed in.

The room had a damp smell. Tell tale sign was it still had a dehumidifier in the corner of the room. Waiter was unable to provide a drinks menu with prices and no itemised bill given when paying. Breakfast was not cooked properly and had to be returned and the cappuccino from the coffee maker in restaurant was cold. Not drinkable. We both left with bites after 1 night in the room.

Oasis in Ellesemere Port

This is a fabulous small hotel in a very quiet spot in Ellesmere Port, with lots of charm, character features, and a beautiful garden. The staff are fabulous in all parts of the hotel. The restaurant serves lovely food at a fair price, served with a smile and warmth. The hotel has a rural feel, but is a short drive away to Liverpool, Hoylake for the golf, and pretty Chester, not to forget things to do nearby. Well done Brook Hall!

After meeting people to go for a meal upon return the building had been locked up 4 of us were unable to gain entry had to ring a friend to get them out of bed as they were staying there to let us in.Complained the next morning receptionist said she had just missed us and the night porter must have been running late. Later the Hotel tried to claim the door was open luckly for us our friend heard and told them it was locked and he wasn't happy about being woken to get out the bed

The hotel is beautiful and I have absolutely no problems with the facilities. However, they had done a business deal with Expedia which leaves the customers out of pocket and customers have to pay more money at check-in.

I booked to stay here with my 2 children (1 adult, 2 children aged 12 & 10). When I arrived I heard the receptionist telling someone on the phone that this has happened to a few people and they needed to pay more for a bigger room. As I checked in they told me the same, that the booking I had made was for one room but they could not accommodate 3 people in the room and I needed to upgrade and pay more money. They blamed Expedia and criticised me for booking through a 3rd party and not coming direct to them. I had 2 tired & hungry children, it was about 8pm and we had tickets the next day for Chester Zoo and we live 2 hours drive away so I was left with no option but to do this.

I have a business and understand I why a company may make a business arrangement with a 3rd party (such as Expedia) to increase custom and bookings. However, if this business deal goes wrong, the customers should not be left to foot the bill.

Rubbish. Adam was the only decent one here.

No meet and greet. Chef will finish early and leave bar tender to do the cooking. Most menu items sold out. Or he just doesn’t know how to cook it?? Wasn’t sure which to be honest. Dirty hallways and stairs for 2 days nobody would get the hoover out. Land lady absolutely wasted infront of customers and even lied to us about going to get the bartender. There is much more for me to say but I will stop now. Overall very disappointing. Won’t be going back again. I hope the landlady will see this. She was a disgrace to the hospitality industry.

The Breakfast Dining Room was in a different place to the Dinner Dining Room. I was not told about this and although breakfast was from 7am, it was 8.15 before I found anyone in a large deserted hotel.

The room I had booked was different to the one we were given. We had booked a room with a spa bath and was given one with a shower instead. We told reception and they did change our room to one with a spa bath and the room was lovely but we couldn’t enjoy our stay as there was no hot water so we couldn’t even use the jacuzzi which was disappointing and ruined our stay as that was the main reason why we booked. When we tried to contact reception there was no answer. I wasn’t able to get a shower this morning because there was still no hot water. I was seriously unhappy with the facilities and wouldn’t recommend staying at brook hall hotel.

My room was on the ground floor at the back of the building and so nice and quiet and was spacious and nicely decorated, so my first impressions were favourable.

However, my reason for staying had been for a nice relaxing evening with a bath (pictures of which had inspired my hotel choice), then room service, then sleep. Sadly the room was far too cold, with the heater switched off, and took hours to warm up. I resorted to lying in bed whilst waiting as a refuge from the cold.
Many of the amenities listed on hotel.com were absent and there was no room service menus, nor phone or electronic means of ordering. There was also no phone reception in my room, making contacting the front desk impossible without going there in person, surely quite contrary to the idea of room service, should such a service exist in this hotel.

In the end I gave up waiting for warmth and went to bed cold and hungry.
In the morning I did use the bath, though the bathroom remained cold, being the furthest place from the heater.

All in all a very disappointing stay.

Lovely place but not for veggies

Someone ordered drinks against my room. Restaurant didn’t argue but couldn’t take off the bill. Reception also didn’t argue but took a while to remove it. Shower was cold. Bed gave me back ache. Only one veggie main on the menu but it was very delicious. Car park needs an update.
