We had an emergency hospital visit while staying at the hotel and the staff was professional and helpful. They worked with us on extending, and then cancelling when we were not sure how long we needed to be the area. While we missed the shuttle to Busch Gardens and the large buffet breakfast that used to be included when we stayed before (over ten years ago), I still found the staff to be friendly and helpful and the location convenient to everything in the area.

The property is well maintained and comfortable - maybe a bit out of date, but still in good shape. The lobby is comfortable and spacious. Service was friendly and helpful. The grounds are very pretty, secluded, and quiet. Our dogs found plenty of smells while walking around and it is large enough to steer clear of other dogs. There are plenty of onsite amenities, though it was winter so we did not use them. The one downside was the breakfast. The food was not flavorful and the selection was meager. On our last day, all the food ran out with another hour of breakfast to go.

The room was as pictured. Pillows are too soft and I would recommend bringing your own. No big complaints, but the breakfast offered is sub-par compared to chain hotels. No meat, just egg patties and toast or danishes. The fireplace and main area provide a nice ambiance, especially in the winter. The coffee maker in my room was not clean and the fridge was set on the least “cold” setting so we had to adjust a few things during our stay. Not big deals though.

The reason of 3 stars is the mattress on the sofa bed was paper thin and springs to hold the mattress were broken. Since we paid for a suite and sleeping on a comfortable mattress is one of the most important features in a hotel, they should really spend some money on a decent mattress. The mattress on the king bed was ok, not the most comfortable but not too bad. We told the receptionist and all they did was to add a very thin pad on top, not satisfactory.

The breakfast area very efficient with 4 different stations for waffles, muffins, bagels, and toast. 2 juices. Milk, yogurt, cereal. Oatmeal packets, hard boiled eggs. There are no meats...but we really didnt miss it. There are oat bars. Coffee. Tea. Decaf. We were very saited and ready for the day. Breakfast was delicious. The hotel has a very nice lobby with a fireplace. It was nicrly decorated for Christmas. There is also a sundry shop with plenty of snacks. The hotel is very close to tge Visitors center where buses arrival and departure for the historic area. We never had to drive once we checked in. We had a Signature King Suite...very nice to have a fridge, microwave and 2 TVs. The couch was very comfortable. The bed was very comfortable. The elevators are clean and fast. Parking is convenient. Luggage dollys worked well. I can only give this hotel a 10 out of 10 on my scale. We will return next stay.

I returned to the front desk and the man went with me back to our former room (II had already turned in our keys) and helped me find it. We really appreciated the extremely friendly and helpful staff. Woodlands Inn and Resort is about our favorite place to stay in our very favorite place in the world - Williamsburg.

This place is in an advanced state of disrepair. The sleeper sofa was broken in both suites, king mattresses were worn-out to the point of being uncomfortable, An obscure amount of exposed ducting in the corridors and missing celling tiles. Most of the water features on the kids' splash pad are damaged or non-functional. Neighboring facilities are either mothballed or being demolished, so the view outside is about as bad as the state of the amenities inside...

Love the within walking distance proximity to Colonial Williamsburg. The woodsy feel from our window and colonial style room gave good vibes. Bring your own pillow though, probably the worst pillows I’ve ever had at a hotel, we had to go buy cheap ones to get us by for the stay. The beds could have more cushion as well.

The room was clean and the staff was friendly as always. We had an issue with our sink being clogged / wouldn’t drain on arrival and notified the desk on our way out for the day. They came in and cleaned the room but did not address the sink.
One area I would like to address though is the breakfast. I’ve been staying here for years — decades, honestly. My last few visits the breakfast has become less and less. It used to be a really great spread of cooked breakfast items and DIY waffles and other breakfast standards. Then it was preheated breakfast sandwiches; it was fine and I got used to the change. This stay it was an apple fritter then a donut churro — and it wasn’t good.
The on-site restaurant is closed. The breakfast has gone so far downhill that the employee at check-in was recommending other breakfast spots … I’m forever going to love this hotel and the walkability to the historic district and proximity to other attractions is unmatched, but don’t expect the same experience you might remember before COVID or the economy made simple pleasures more difficult for all of us … including the Williamsburg Woodlands Hotel and Suites.

The staff was excellent going above and beyond. Helped us get a room on first floor due to my elderly mom needing to use a walker. Super friendly and helpful staff. Rooms were very clean and all the amenities were great. Liked the continental breakfast. All good.
