This is a resort like hotel where big tour groups stay. Overall we were pleased with the location and comfort. There were minor things that were not working such as treadmills and some ice machines but as a whole we enjoyed our stay and would stay again. Specifically their continental breakfast is more than that. Their location is in walking distance to Colonial Williamsburg. Our room was spacious and the bed comfortable. What Expedia doesn’t tell you is that there are about $30 per day mandatory resort fees and we did not use any of their extras to make these really worthwhile but figure that overall it was worth it.

We stayed in a suite. It was clean and comfortable - although the beds were a little on the firmer side. The breakfast is a true continental breakfast. There is plenty to get your morning started. The staff are outstanding and are extremely friendly - especially Kameron, Natalie, and Jennifer.

Hotel has obviously seen better days. The carpet is not only worn but dirty -- our room had two large sticky spots, as if it hadn't been well cleaned. The water in the shower only got lukewarm, never hot. Toilet was sluggish when we arrived and plugged up completely on our second night.
The hotel seems understaffed, having a hard time even keeping coffee in the free breakfast. The staff they did have were suffering with no air conditioning in the lobby area for days; I felt for them. Staff was always helpful and professional; I give the staff an A+!

I didn’t like the fact that I had to pay for amenities that I do t use. Can’t swim don't golf and do not play that game you throw a bag in the hole. But I do understand now that I know your hotel is a resort. Which I didn’t see when I booked. Lesson learned.

This is a great place to stay when visiting Colonial Williamsburg. It is next to the visitor center and the busses circulating around the historical area. While we did not use many of the facilities since we are \"old folks\", there are a lot of things for kids to do on the property- pool, splash pad, ping pong, miniature golf. The hotel is a little dated but that is part of its charm. Some of the electronics could be improved. There is no restaurant at this hotel but the expanded continental breakfast was a nice touch. Our room was a king suite with a very comfortable bed and a separate living room. I would stay here again if I visited the area.

Hotel is a superior location for visiting Colonial Williamsburg, but the hotel's upkeep is sub-par. Unfortunately, the room where breakfast was served did not have working air conditioning and was very hot for all 5 days of breakfasts we ate there. Additionally the continental breakfast was skimpy and nothing was cooked fresh. There was however a gluten free breakfast bar which was great for people who needed that.

The lobby is airy and lovely, but tables and chairs were sticky, likely with spilled food or soda. The gym was better than average. When we were checking out, there was vomit at the garbage can outside the front door and no one appeared to deal with it even when I reported the problem to the front desk. Not likely I'd book my family to stay here again.

I loved how it was right next to the Williamsburg Welcome Center. The rest of the Historic Triangle Area was within a 20 to 30 minute drive. The staff were friendly and helpful with any questions I had. As a solo traveler I felt completely safe and comfortable. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Williamsburg or the Historical Triangle Area.

The location is great. It is an older hotel and some things haven't been updated in over 20 years - The in-room sofa, the blankets, the wallpaper. The ac went back and forth between non-existant and very cold and the common hallways were warm and stagnant and outside day temps were only 77 degrees. Looks like they try to maintain a very old building, but at the end of the day, its worn out but in a great location. Oh, and for a probably 2.75 star hotel charging $7 if you drink in-room bottled water is insane. Also need to train housekeeping staff not to knock on doors at 8:30 am on Sunday to \"see if you've checked out\" when they are really trying to get you out. Also, parking is front is better than parking in very dark side lots.

We’ve stayed in various Colonial Williamsburg properties over the past 50 years. We were disappointed with the Woodlands. The parking lots were filled with potholes and we had to dodge a few to get to our building. The elevator was located off the lobby which required walking a long distance once we reached our floor. A more centrally located elevator would have been much nicer. The room was comfortable and clean. All in all, it was ok, especially for one night, but we won’t stay there again.

The spacious rooms were very comfortable. The pool was nicely warm!! The breakfast was good, although when outdoor seating was not available due to the weather it was overcrowded (but it was Memorial Day weekend, so . . .)
The Visitor Center is about a 3 minute walk, and you can catch a free shuttle from there to Colonial Williamsburg. Perfect!
We will definitely come back.

This hotel is extremely dated. They have a lot to offer to do on campus, but it’s not kept up with. The mini golf course was great, but you could tell that no one goes and brushes off the green areas, which makes it harder for kids to golf.
The room was nice, but the beds were crap. Just needs a full makeover.
The best and most positive thing is the location and the staff.

This is a fabulous little hotel for families, we’ve been coming here for years and always return. Our children love the pool and splash pad, mini golf, and little playground. Colonial Williamsburg is accessible from the parking lot, it’s so fun to walk around without needing our car for the day. Convenient to Busch Gardens as well. This hotel is nostalgic and simple, we have wonderful family memories here and will choose Woodlands every time we are in Williamsburg.

The Woodlands certainly reflect the surroundings, nestled in a beautiful, peaceful forest setting. Very quiet. I will say our visit was in early May, cannot say what the noise level might be in summer! Perfect spot for families, pool, splash pad and multiple outdoor games. The shuttle from the visitors center to Colonial Williamsburg was very convenient. We did not realize it also took you to the Merchants Square for shopping and restaurants. History buffs will really enjoy Colonial Williamsburg, York Museum and York Riverwalk monument. Highly recommend. Perhaps the one item that would make it perfect is a microwave in hotel rooms. We had leftovers every night of our three night stay but no way to reheat them.

Woodlands tends to be crowded with a lot of kids and school groups but there are definitely quieter areas of the hotel. I loved the room I was in, the breakfast offerings were fine, the daily housekeeping service is a luxury, and the staff are terrific. Definitely CW has fancier places to stay but I love the Woodlands.

Our room was very clean and refreshed each day. The entire staff were friendly and helpful. The free breakfast was adequate with a variety of fresh food choices. The facility in general is clean and comfortable, but in need of some maintenance and refurbishing. The outdoor eating area is sorely in need of a power washing. Free shuttle to the Colonial Village is easily accessed from the hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The pool area looked very nice. Great place for families with many activities for the kids. Beside the Colonial Williamsburg visitor center with free shuttles to the historic area. They also had a very nice path that was 1/2 mile to walk. Hotel was a bit dated. Could use some love, but overall property was mostly comfortable. I would consider staying again

If you are allergic to dog hair etc. this hotel is not the place for you. They can not guarantee you a clean room NON pet friendly. Hotel is very tired and run down for only 20 years old. Wallpaper and carpet is old and tired looking. Oh yes, the parking and breakfast is not included in the room rate, you will pay an extra $21.00 per day. 😩

The staff was friendly and I loved the proximity to the visitor center where you could get tickets, catch the bus or use the walking path that takes you right to the governor’s palace. The breakfast was nice with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating or take your breakfast to your room.
The only reason I gave a four star rating is because my mattress was not very comfortable,I woke up with my back hurting.
Other than that, this was a nice hotel and I would stay here again.
