Very nice little room with everything we needed for one night's stay. The Manager was really helpful, including giving us a lift to the wedding evening do which was really appreciated. We were also offered a free breakfast which was a great touch. Its a lovely country pub with rooms. Woukd definitely return.

Hotel stay or camping

Lovely staff the new manager is very enthusiastic and I am sure he and the new owner will make lots of changes going forward. It’s a lovely old building just a bit tired but clean and lots of parking and in a good spot to access lots of places. Very good value for money and good meals available in the evenings

Lovely Pub

This was a lovely pub with friendly staff and great food and i would recommend eating here.
I would stay somewhere else though, the room was basic, the heating did eventually come on, when i checked in i was told that they don't offer breakfast in the week which isn't very helpful when you have already booked.

The food was amazing, we would recommend the restaurant to anyone. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. However, we did not appreciate having to use an outside, open, staircase to access the room. I am terrified of heights and was terrified. Not pleased to have to go outside if it rained. The shower was only just useable, low pressure: the basin was so small the if you leant forward to clean your teeth you bashed your head off the glass shelf. There was nowhere to put anything in the bathroom. There was no way to control the room temperature and it got far too hot. The beds though were wonderful. Not having breakfast on the Monday was a surprise and a let down. Still worth a visit though as any upgrading is still a work in progress. We wish them luck.

A lovely welcome and everyone during our stay were lovely. We stayed in the outside annexe so can’t comment on more internal rooms. These rooms were clean and well equipped just are ready for a refurb which judging from the rest of the property will be done I am sure. Still very worth a visit the restaurant was amazing

It was a convenient location for where we were going. The room was adequate but could have done with a makeover. Breakfast was not until 9.30 so too late for us. The rickety wooden staircase upstairs was hard to negotiate for us over a certain sge - when leaving, we found there was an outside metal staircase.

Car parking is both ample and free of charge.
Pleasant and large outdoor seating area Bar/restaurant is very charming and cosy with nice olde worlde features. Staff were all lovely and service good. Wholesome well cooked and nicely presented food at reasonable prices.
We stayed for one night in Room 12. Generally it was okay, but the shower room was in desperate need of some cosmetic tlc. The shower gave a decent flow of hot water, but the sliding cubicle doors didn't meet/join where they're supposed to!
The worst aspect however was the very loud creaking floor board noises caused by the guests in room above moving around. Sadly this ruined what otherwise would have been a peaceful night's sleep.

Great place to stop off.

Was a great place for an overnight stay. My only potential issue was the 10pm cut-off for checking in. In theory I needed to get there nearer 11pm, but as it happenedon the day various health factors meant I was well inside 10pm.

Great place to stay

Great place to stay in a quiet location but near to Peterborough. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The room was spacious with tea and coffee making facilities. The bathroom was ensuite with a shower.
We had an evening meal which was fantastic, very good sized portions. Would highly reccomend and will definately stay again.

The decline of the Wishing Well is under way. It's easy to see that just a few years ago, perhaps before the current owners took over in 2020, it was better, but from an accommodation perspective it is past any prime it may have had. The rooms are unclean. I had to wash even the (mismatched) coffee cups before use - they still had liquid coffee in them. The shower was grubby, with mould-blackened grout and some former users hand-marks on the controller. It delivered only a faint impression of water. Paintwork is peeling, and a Henry hoover, which blocked the narrow hallway (and therefore the fire exit), was left on display as if to say \"yes, we do clean this (badly moth-eaten) hallway carpet\". The food at dinner was good (the chewy chips notwithstanding), and the excellent chef - who was in the kitchen when our server commented negatively on the man's ethnicity - was the only staff member present the next day at 9:00, an hour into the breakfast service. Two others arrived in due course to support him, and to explain to us that the kitchen was devoid of breakfast cereals (except Rice Krispies and Cocoa Puffs), marmalade, Earl Grey tea, croissants, and multiple other breakfast standards. Apologies we're made, at least. The rooms were only £85 each, but we expect cleanliness at any price.

Poor and overpriced

Check in was average… room location was poor. Access via a fire escape (not recommended for those who dislike heights nor anyone wearing heels - death trap!). Room itself was in desperate need of updating. Duvet thin which was a problem as fire escape door is open all the time and one window was too warped to shut. For me, as a single female traveler, was told this was because all the rain had caused the door to swell but previous reviewer also mentions this. I had issues with both security and temperature. Second night I rolled up towel and used as a draft excluder. Tea and coffee making facilities provided but if there were two guests in the double room, you would have to boil kettle twice as cuts only possible to fill it a third full due to tiny size of sink. The shower tray was chipped and the bathroom fairly manky. Only one bedside table had a lamp. Bed reasonably comfortable.
Bar/restaurant nice but I returned with friend after spending 6 hours outside to be told “no hot drinks because lunch is over so I’m cleaning the machine… if I make you a hot drink it’ll taste like cleaning fluid!”
No breakfast available at all… this is apparently temporary. But there is no one on site from 10pm until the bar opens.
Definitely not worth £80/night.

Give it a miss

I'd read the reviews before booking and although some said it needed updating these were in the minority so I took a chance. I should have listened.
The positives was that the bed was comfortable giving a good nights sleep and the shower was good as well.
Everything else left a lot to be desired. The room is very basic to the extreme, no fridge, no wardrobe. The room is the very definition of sparse. When asked about breakfast we were given a list to choose from and told they didn't do hot breakfasts during the week. What I hadn't expected that it would be placed in a broken paper bag and placed on the window ledge outside the room. I only noticed it as I stepped outside at 10.30 at night when I saw it.
Also from a (lack of) safety point of view the door leading to the fire escape is left open all night.
All in all, I can't recommend The Wishing Well which is a disappointment as I remember coming here many years earlier for a wedding receiption and the food then was great.
The following night we spent in Central London near to Tottenham Court Road and the cost wasn't that much more than here

So bad we didnt stay.

We decided to have lunch before checking in. The service and food was so bad we actually left and booked another hotel. The staff we didinterested and aloof. The food was overcooked but cold! When it was pointed out there was no concern at all. The covid regulations were not being followed, tables too close together and one way system doors locked. The service and food was so bad we decided not to stay and booked another hotel elsewhere. I would not reccomend this establishment at all. Asked if we wanted anything with our food, yes a knife and fork please! This is a simple country pub trying to be an upmarket establishment and doing it very badly.

The staff at The Wishing Well were top notch! It's a lovely pub/hotel with really nice food. It's a bit of a hike into Bourne (maybe 45 minutes?) but there are loads of footpaths if you like walking. The bed wasn't that comfy, but that's about the only thing I can fault. Salvatore and the staff more than made up for it with their hospitality! We had a very enjoyable stay!

Pleasant stay - thank-you!

Stayed here with family for a funeral.
Due to covid restrictions we could not sit inside hotel or have a proper breakfast but the outside area was very pleasant. Blankets were supplied by the hosts when it got rather chilly in the evening. A pizza camper van was a nice little bonus when we arrived.
The hosts 'Sav' and co were extremely friendly and welcoming. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Breakfast was supplied in brown paper bags- cereal bars, croissant, orange juice etc which although not ideal suited us fine.
Would definately stay here again to experience the inn as it should be.

Wishing for a better bed!

The bedroom was bright and clean but the bed was very hard and uncomfortable. Food seemed a little hit and miss, one great meal, one quite poor. Not much choice for breakfast unless you want full English, would have been nice to have cereals other than cornflakes and coco pops and some choices of fruit/yogurt/ croissants etc. The surrounds were lovely however and there was loads of character.

Lovely stay great food and atmosphere

Really enjoyed my stay here. I was working nearby. the location is idyllic in a small quaint village not actually in Bourne centre but a short walk away. Plenty of parking, nice gardens and views. Behind looked to be a camping site. Food was incredible evening meal plenty of choice bistro pub type food and full English breakfast quality produce. Limited choice for continental maybe a selection of yoghurts and fruit would of been nice. The old exterior creeks but adds o the character. Friendly staff and a pleasant stay. Room looked onto the garden a fair size clean and great large TV.
