Great location, friendly hotel and lovely breakfast. We had a power cut during our stay which meant we were without electricity in our room for over two hours. Over half the hotel had power apparently but despite visiting reception we were kept in the dark! Not the hotels fault but they never once visited gave advice offered any support.

Room was clean although small amount of mould in corners of shower tray, fan cover kept falling down, bathroom fan was very noisy.
Didn’t eat in the restaurant as only 4star food hygiene rating (expected more from this type of hotel), we ate across the road at the Cosy Club which was great!

Room 11, was a good size, very clean with a good shower. As it was near Christmas and a Saturday night the restaurant was fully booked so we cannot comment on the food but the breakfast the following morning was good and hearty served by very friendly and helpful staff.

What stood out most was how the receptionist and housekeeping staff went above and beyond after we had checked out. I became ill and returned to the hotel 30 minutes after checking out allowing me to return to my original room for an hour to recuperate I was then provided with essentials for my home trip. The service was exemplary throughout our stay and we would definitely return and recommend

Although I’ve marked everything as excellent, I have to point out that the signature plus townhouse double room is accessed by a steep set of stairs into what was the basement. However it is a very nice room and the bathroom, again accessed by more stairs down (5), is also lovely. If this was pointed out on the Expedia website, I missed it. If it wasn’t pointed out, it should be highlighted, particularly for those with mobility issues.

Just a lovely place to stay, set in characterful buildings in a historic part of town. Walkable to Stamford high street shopping, bars and restaurants, but I'd be happy to stay in the hotel for dinner and drinks too. Rooms are comfortable and well sized. If we're back in town, we'd be looking to stay again.

I absolutely loved my stay at this gorgeous little hotel. A warm and friendly welcome, easy parking, a lovely room, a perfect location, and an amazing breakfast! I would say one of the best breakfasts I have had. Staff couldn’t do more to make the stay any better. Would highly recommend this place, whether it’s for a romantic getaway, or business - you will not be disappointed.

The Crown Hotel is fabulous! Beautiful place with great staff and facilities in a perfect location. The only issue was that our standard room had very thin walls and we could hear the person next door snoring all night. Also, did wornder if Room 7 was above the kitchens as think the Chefs / kitchen staff had their radio on loudly around 7am which we could hear.. Would definitely stay again though, in a higher graded room.

The first half of my stay had abnormally hot weather and a portable air conditioner for the room would have made sleeping a bit more comfortable at night. From first point of arrival our stay was relaxed. Receptionist was so helpful in helping to find space to park our cars in the car park which was busy. Gorgeous relaxing beer gardens. Well kept and beautifully styled with flowers and plants overlooking the church and historic buildings yet so near to shops. Beautiful place. Outdoor bar was a great bonus too. Our room was a twin and quite spacious. Felt liked a valued customer overall and will stay again in the future.

It was all wonderful right from the check-in, the staff are all very friendly, welcoming and helpful. We stayed in a well lit and very tastefully decorated and sizeable room, with comfortable beds, two small armchairs and a coffee table. The bathroom was well appointed with a bath and a large shower head. There were some nice extra touches as well, a small bottle of milk on arrival and later in the stay, plus bottled water, plenty of teabags etc. The food at breakfast was very nice too.
The situation is marvellous, a short walk to the High Street and the Wetherspoons and other pubs/restaurants.
Stamford is a lovely town with a great atmosphere and a park very near the centre. Burghley House is a short drive or a walk of just a few miles if you are a lot younger than us! We didn't get to Rutland Water, but we will go next time - because we definitely want to go back.

After a week of hotel hopping, it was a pleasant surprise to walk in to a room that was well appointed and clean. the vibe of the room definitely met the expectations of \"old town\" Stamford. The room was clean. had plenty of room, and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was roomy and blessedly well lit. The only thing that I did not like was that there was not a shower. It was just a bathtub. If it weren't for this, I would have given a 5-star review.

Decided to splash out on a high spec room as an Easter Stamford treat...as the reviews say, the Crown is a nicely laid out bar/restaurant with rooms at the heart of town..

Having booked a top room (at nearly £200)which pictured a bedroom roll top bath with a character town view - i was initially given a fairly small room with shower. This was changed on request to a larger room with bath but still no view..despite looking boutique in the pictures the decor is actually pretty dated, and an internet TV would be more handy in this price range.The lighting in the bathroom was also brighter than the sun!
There was also quite a bit of noise, intially from bar music below up to 9pm then from revellers in the street for longer, which i guess could be expected given the location.
As a party base for later drinkers its fine but it didnt quite turn out to be the tranquil base that I was hoping for..

A lovely hotel which is very well located in Stamford, The Crown is near the main shopping street and many restaurants. It is also within walking distance of the Burghley estate. The rooms are beautifully decorated and very comfortable; our room faced out onto the street but the thick curtains ensured that we were not disturbed by the lights. Breakfast was very good and the staff are courteous and efficient. We arrived at check-in time and managed to park in the hotel car park, but it is quite small and I think it would have been full if we’d arrived much later. However, this is still a great hotel which I would highly recommend.

Nice cosy hotel despite the noisy restaurant downstairs which closes quite early so not an issue. Small room but well appointed. Could do with better sound proofing - someone in another room was snoring and we could hear it all night. Good breakfast.

The only thing that was a concern was that the Townhouse property we stayed in had a windy staircase to our room in the basement, and was a little way from the main hotel, so if was rainy we had to make sure we had protection when we went for breakfast. We would certainly stay there again but would make sure we booked a room in the main hotel.

I regularly stay here for an overnight and I really like The Crown. I was in a cosy room on the top floor and it was lovely. The room is clean and whilst small, great for one person. It maybe a squeeze for two though.
The noise as it faces the road was not great at 11.30pm but there was an added bonus of a ceiling fan which meant I could close the window and have some air.
The only major downside is that the walls are thin and unfortunately someone had a very bad cough.
Breakfast was great.
