This is an older resort. Stayed at the overwater villa which was very nice. Gym was ok but dated. Could use an upgrade. Limited vegan options and I did not get the all inclusive package. I did get breakfast included and they did accommodate some requests. Dinner options were limited at the Tex Mex à la carte. Beach is very nice. Spa is small but nice. Overall good.

The entire resort is just wonderful, we ended up upgrading our stay to the overwater bungalow suite the entire time we were there. The staff made our experience even more wonderful. Look for Sattar if you need a professional photographer and he's always happy to guide you and take you to different parts of the island. The F & B team here will take care of you and they offered top notched service.

Our stay was amazing and it was difficult to leave. The overwater bungalow suite was really nice. My husband and I even did shark watching at night. Yes, there were baby sharks! All the staff were so nice! Look for Sattar if you need a professional photographer. The F & B team led by the female manager (apologies for not remembering her name) were all on point. Pasta guy behind the station took us back to Italy again with his carbonara!

Wonderful location. Happy, always smiling and oh so courteous staff. Beach is great! Spent half a day swimming with sharks and sting rays. Could use lighting above bathroom mirror and refrigerator could be cooler. Highly recommend!

A wonderful first time in the Maldives. Friendly staff. Beautiful surroundings. A few things to note: snorkelling trips will need you to bring your own snorkels, don’t forget to bring sun cream because the gift shop charges $60+ for a bottle of Nivea spf 30, and the food is good but the meals are the same/similar each day. The gift shop is expensive, as are the snorkel trips and scuba diving. Surfing also chargeable and IMO, extortionately priced

Cinnamon was overall okay and average. The excursions that were offered had a person minimum, so they regularly were cancelled. They had planned events on their itinerary but when the time came, the majority were cancelled without notice. The room was clean and housekeeping was great. Shared bathroom areas were dirty along with outdoor dining areas. The wait/kitchen staff were fantastic and friendly but the reception and customer service staff were hard to deal with. The Maldives did not meet our expectations, but the Cinnamon resort itself was in a beautiful location and offered a relaxing stay.

Location is amazing, but the hotel struggles to deliver in many fronts. Most things required extra effort, often reminding you that they are pushed to upsell instead of driven to give you a relaxing time.

I work in the industry and have given proper feedback to the management team. They are under huge pressure to perform financially and, although they see it, their hands are tight as to what they can do to deliver value.

We will not be coming back, given the enormous range of better options in the area.

It's ok for a 4-star. We spoke several times with the front desk manager (Shahin), who was outstanding! However, it feels like he cannot make big changes happen as the hotel is underinvested from the top.

Shahin saved the experience -- without him we would have given this place a 2 star max. We reached out to senior management and were totally ignored. This actually explains why the place is unlikely to change in the future. GM is too busy thinking revenue, not experience. He won't get much revenue UNLESS he improves customer experiences.

We were fortunate to get a room upgrade on arrival
Wow a bungalow over the sea
Water around them very rough for any swimming
Take swimming shoes if you do and you’d need to be a strong swimmer as the current is strong
The resort and the people are beautiful
A lot of surfing to watch from the bar too that was awesome
Be prepared for expensive water sports and trips
All in all a fabulous holiday and there send off was so lovely thank you for a fab 5 nights

If relaxation and simply enjoying the majesty of God is on your menu, this is the place for you. The paid actors are the beauty of the Indian Ocean that you get to marvel in from the overwater bungalows and the incredible staff. They are so sweet and attentive. Everyone. The bartenders made me \"my own\" cocktail and the ladies at the spa have been blessed with magical hands. Also, the all inclusive package is a really good value!

I’ve traveled to several different countries as a solo traveler, and I had higher expectations for Maldives. The service was decent. Some of the excursions were a little overpriced. There was a dirty mop smell near entrance where the mini bar was located. I thought housekeeping would have done something about the smell considering it was very strong. The chef at Tex Mex during the morning shift makes great food according to the menu. When I went back in the evening on my last day to purchase the same meal, the Nachos were completely different from what I had in the morning and it was difficult for me to finish the food (didn’t want to waste it). I did inform two staff members at the restaurant and the waiter asked if I wanted another one and I told her it would still come out the same because of the chef who’s cooking the meal. So all in all I paid for a meal I didn’t enjoy. This was the case for the items in the mini freezer, when I arrived I was told that the drinks in the freezer were complementary. When I went to grab a drink that turned out to be alcohol, I took a sip and it wasn’t good so I disposed the rest of the drink and I told the housekeeper this and I was still charged. In that same freezer I found something that appeared to look like mold on two of the alcohol bottles, and that could have contributed to the dirty mop smell I smelled around that area. I wasn’t aware that I was suppose to get VIP amenities during my stay, it sure didn’t feel like a VIP stay.

Very relaxing. Most staff very nice and accommodating. A few weren’t as friendly. I also noticed they allow garbage to float in the ocean around the shore, which bothered me, but apparently not them. Styrofoam, glass, plastic, wrappers, chips containers, etc. also looked like sewage leaking into water big time along one side of beach. Room also wasn’t too clean and had a lot of bugs. Bedding also smelled a little like previous guests sweat. But what to expect when it’s an island?! Food was amazing! All you could want and more. Very relaxing vibe overall. Thankful there was no loud, blaring music or rowdiness. Felt safe and comfortable. Would recommend!

Nasa at Reception helped arrange transport for me to Malé, so I could get the city experience in Maldives, as well as the Island. As an older adult with knee surgeries, I found the sand pathways to be tricky. There were not many lights so I could not find my way safely to dinner (dark early in January). The boardwalk to my restaurant was under repair. Staff generally excellent, but a few common courtesies were missed here and there. One young man did retrieve my hat which blew off during a wind storm, so I was grateful to him! Spa staff also outstanding -- especially Ita.

From beginning to end, the property makes sure they give you 5 star service! They had a boat waiting for us and a man that took our bags all the way inside the airport when we was leaving. Lyn was an amazing hostess.The food was incredible. The chef really took his time to customize how we liked our food, like our pastas. Also it was all you can eat buffet style, if you get the All inclusive package, which I highly recommend. The bartenders all make fantastic drinks and keep the vibe going. The dinning staff like Sonia and Ibrahim made sure all your needs were met. The pool attendant made cute flower gifts for me at the pool everyday. Also the cleaning man did a beautiful honeymoon display on our bed. The staff is what makes the resort unique. They genuinely want you to have a good time. The water bungalow suite was amazing. The suite was by the reef so you can see tons of fishes, sharks and sting rays. The room had a spa tub and shower to die for. Overall just an amazing resort!

I would like to thank the staff at Cinnamon Dhonveli for such an amazing experience! My wife and I had a great time! We would like to thank our server Lassan by the Water Suite Restaurant for his warmth and hospitality. We would also like to thank Katte and Koka from the Dive and Sail. They were super experienced during our Jet Ski tour. My wife had never snorkeled in her life and Koka was very professional and experienced in showing her a great underwater experience. Katte was amazing as a guide and we got to see Dolphins during our tour which was mind blowing! Our Water Suite was a mesmerizing experience. The room was clean and comfortable. We just finished our 13 day holiday in the Maldives and our stay at Cinnamon Dhonveli was definitely a highlight. We loved all the little details at Cinnamon and the staff was super friendly while making sure you have a 5 star experience. They had a really good local band one night and it was so much fun !
We loved that they seem to cater to every type of traveler. Akila at the surf bar and Niyaz our waiter were amazing and made us feel at home. The dive shop took us to see Mantas! Overall amazing experience we will definitely come back to Cinnamon Dhonveli next time we are in this part of the world.

The resort was nice and wasn't packed as I expected. We were upgraded to a bungalow suite on our first night, then back to a regular bungalow after. The suite was so nice and clean. All in all it was a great resort. Food wasn't that good though. Meats were all over cooked and buffet style. Cheaper to order room service and better ala carte options. Staff were nice, but English is limited. Bring ketchup packets if you don't like banana ketchup (or they call it tomato sauce).

This resort is extremely well-managed. You never feel crowded, it's clean, rooms and beds are very comfortable. Although there were children, chalets are far enough apart, that there was never any noise or disturbance. Also the food was very good and guests were comfortably spaced. Special events were so kindly prepared and no detail was forgotten. Will come again, thank you Dhonveli Team!

I highly recommend Cinnamon Dhonveli and would definitely stay there again! Communication with the hotel about the boat transfer was very good. I rented a superior room, which was very sizeable, modern, and clean. It even had a balcony over the small beach.

The beach was lovely, and it was great to be able to snorkel and see all kinds of fish right off the main beach. The beach bar was excellently attended by Rafiqul.

The buffet was pretty good. I found the stir fry stations (Siri was great!), and the more local food (e.g. fish, dhal, curries, etc.) to consistently be the best options.

The Sunset Bar and Pasta Point Bars had gorgeous views of the sunset. All the servers were top notch, especially Geena, Dilshan, Dileepa, and a few others I am forgetting (Usi? at the Pasta Point Bar).

The entertainment was quite fun and a great way to meet other guests. The DJ was great!

Hussein and the lady who helped at reception (name started with \"Dh,\" but I have sadly forgotten to write it down) were excellent at assisting in all of my questions.

The turtle scuba and spa (stress relief massage) were also excellent!

Tips: Bring you own snorkel gear. I found the best time to snorkel off the beach was right after breakfast.
Reserve beach/pool chairs early. People tended to leave towels and a personal item to show the chair was reserved.

It was truly a dream vacation! We stayed in an over water bungalow and spent most of our time in our room/ on our deck. We snorkeled from the room & I'm glad I read a review before going because we brought water shoes (I have Teva sandals that worked perfectly). The whole island is made up of coral so I highly recommend you bring something for your feet! There is sandy parts of the beach if you don't but if you want to explore the water a bit more shoes for sure.
We surfed & went jet sking as our activities. The staff at both places were wonderful. Our waiter at the restaurant was always so nice & helpful. Honestly, it was the best. Definitely go here!

This place has everything you need for a nice relaxing vacation. I stayed at the property for 6 days and felt like the amount of time was just enough to enjoy everything without getting bored at any point. Me and my wife stayed in the overwater bungalows which was nice. After my first night there was no hot water but I was fine with that being that it's very hot over there. I will say the only thing that was not my favorite was the food. Good variety and options, but if i had to rate.

Also, the one thing i can definitely say I did not like was the \"snacks\" which are available during the hours in between meals. The snacks had close to no options, were mostly fruits and we're not great. I basically ignored snacks during my stay. Now a few people that stood out to me during my experience was Rafiqul at the beach bar, Haroon who'm would clean the rooms and our server Mohamad at the restaurant for the overwater bungalows and lastly Jannah at check in and check out. they were all great. All in all after bargain hunting as much as I could at the time, I feel I got what I paid for. I would overall give this place a 8/10.

Our stay lasted 7 days/6 nights in an overwater bungalow, the room itself was very nice and the housekeeping was great (they came twice a day). The underside of the bungalows shows damaged concrete structures and years of saltwater abuse, not screaming structural integrity. The beach was pretty in the areas that hadn't been swept away during monsoon season. Most of the beach was only 10-20 feet wide, with lots of rock exposed to bare feet.

We would not recommend this location for the following reasons.
1. The food was subpar, only buffet options unless you use room service. Often the same choices breakfast/lunch/dinner (reef fish curry and chicken curry on repeat) and even with premium all-inclusive they only want you attending one restaurant each meal. They reserve one table at your restaurant for the entirety of your stay, by the same people each meal, so luckily we had a lovely couple near us that we befriended. Several couples complained of severe stomach issues and possible food-poisoning while on island.

2. Lack of entertainment/engagement from resort staff. Unless you wanted to pay for a jet ski or scuba trip to a tuna factory's chum water, there was nothing to do on the island. Snorkeling around the lagoon was a popular option, with extra $13 pay per day of course.

3. Travel from the US was a nightmare, basically 4 days of travel total. I'd suggest other Americans to utilize the Caribbean. Better water, beaches, food, and value for your money!

If I could give this property 10 stars, I would!! We stayed in an overwater suite with spectacular views. The snorkeling around the island was excellent! The staff went out of there way to make our stay memorable. Thank you to Patrice, Sharwaan, Naji and Rhaid for making our stay super enjoyable. We chose to do avail of the All Inclusive and it was well worth it. The food was delicious and the drinks were fantastic. We were able to get drinks from the different bars on different parts of the island. Watching the sunset over drinks is just a dream.
The resort also gave us a complimentary day use room after we checked out because our boat to the airport did not leave until 5:00pm. Thank you Patrice for hooking us up!!!

It was a nice welcoming experience but they checked me in an hour later of check in time. Staff was nice but calling the buggy to pick up wasn’t consistent in picking up our group of 12. When they didn’t come we decided to walk. Very upset that most excursion were closed due to COVID19. We couldn’t leave island without coming back to get quarantine or get another COVID19 test that’s $65. Even when we were all vaccinated. My main goal was to see shark whale or manta ray but that wasn’t permitted. The food buffet was really good. Beach was somewhat sandy but bring water shoes because some areas had broken corals. I recommend bring snorkeling gear because they will charge you which I don’t think they should because your stuck on that island. It was a beautiful experience but could’ve been more amazing if we could do excursions.

Property was amazing , beautiful views but that’s literally all you’re paying for the views . The service was a little mediocre not a lot of options for food , they serve the same thing over and over. They are very uptight the staff almost like they are scared to speak. Dinner is from they have very specific times for breakfast lunch and dinner and if you miss it you’re screwed which it sucks especially after paying almost 5K for all inclusive . It was very boring no events , you do the same thing over and over again beach , pool , and snorkeling. I would only recommend for someone that likes surfing and things in that nature and if you go don’t go for more than 3 days it’ll get boring ! They only cool thing is the views the water is beautiful and the massage was AMAZING! I give it a 6.5 out of a 10

Relaxing beach romantic getaway

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel. We had a very nice and relaxing beach holiday where we enjoyed the overwater villa. The hotel staff was always incredible friendly and went over their way to ensure we felt welcomed and comfortable.

There are a few things the resort can improve upon: supplies for the bar (they were always out of watermelon and lime / lemon) and restaurant (very limited vegetable selection, even though the salad bar was always available to have an artisan salad to your choosing); breakfast times can be different (we missed breakfast 3 times as it ended at 9.30am); better advertisement / announcements of what the evening entertainments are (there were blackboards around the resort but you had to know to look for them and the only board with detailed information was at the beach bar), the a la carte menu was limited to handful of sandwiches, 3 salads and 3 mains.

It’s an average resort and no one at the resort had heard of Expedia which makes me suspect of how they got their VIP status and it shows.

The description has been update but ALL INCLUSIVE IS NOT ALL INCLUSIVE. Further to that Expedia agents will describe full board as being all inclusive so be weary of what they advertise.

Because of the system they have come up with for eating you have 1 (one) of the 5 restaurants that you can eat at and a clerical error left me not being able eat for the first 24hours that I was there. This was quickly dismissed by staff and them saying “nothing we can do now”.

There was good variety with the food but it wasn’t good. Just to give you an idea, the hollandaise sauce on the eggs Benedict is mayonnaise. I got it twice just to make sure that was what was happening.

Overall, it’s fine. I live a 4 hour flight away but if I was any further I would have been very upset that I paid as much as I did for what you get.

The struggle with the hotel and the yelling from Expedia agents meant that I left early. It wasn’t worth it and I could do it but chose wisely if you’re taking a long flight.

Also, there were mostly families there just in case that is something you are considering.

While the Maldives are beautiful and the views and coral life are beyond expectations the value for your money does not add up at this resort. We received none of the VIP perks which was disappointing but ok. What I really didn't like was the very limited drink options for all-inclusive, they had about 7 drink options and room service was an extra charge. The perk? We stayed at an overwater bungalow and the views and room were perfect.

I enjoyed my stay and the staff were very accommodating from pickup at the airport to the arrival at the resort. It's shoulder and COVID season, but I wish dining options were a bit more varied - buffets are nice but sometimes it's nice to wine-and-dine, especially at such a beautiful location! The overwater bungalow was fantastic and worth the trip to experience it. The outdoor deck was spacious, had nice furniture, and most importantly - shade! One suggestion for improvement is to add some plants or flowers to the outdoor deck - it would've made it feel a bit more lively.

This is our honeymoon and the overall experience was unfortunately disappointing. We booked all-inclusive over the water bungalow for 3 nights. Postives: hotel was kind enough to let us check-in early (10:30am) and check-out late (2:30pm); lagoon is lovely and views from room very nice; chefs in main restaurant on beach were very nice and tried their best to accommodate my food allergies. Negatives: we were not aware when we booked that there are two types of all-inclusive- premium and ours (second class). Ours was in fact NOT all inclusive- and the food and drinks were low quality and with very limited choices.

Maldives getaway at a great value!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cinnamon Dhonveli, the reasons are many:

Communication - Communication with the resort was prompt and all questions asked were timely answered. This was especially valuable when our arriving flight was delayed by four hours. We were able to get in touch with the resort right away to reschedule the airport transfer.

Resort transfer - this is done via speedboat. It took 20 min to get to the resort and is considerably less expensive than seaplane. This played to our advantage when our flight was delayed. We were still able to get to the resort the same day whereas others who are transferring to other resorts via seaplane had to overnight in Male.

Resort - the resort is on its own private island with stunning views and a nice sheltered beach. The island was a nice size to walk around but not too big to get lost. They offer plenty of excursions as well has having an exceptional in-house band.

Room - we received a free room upgrade to a garden bungalow. It was spacious, clean and comfortable.

All-inclusive - the AI was very generous on meals and drinks, great value overall

Staff - the staff were absolutely incredible! They are friendly, helpful, and just superb all around, we will miss them!

All things considered, Cinnamon Dhonveli was the perfect place for us to unwind and relax, the island is fully WIFI connected as well.

A+++++ Highly recommended for those looking for a Maldives getaway at a great value!

The water bungalow we stayed in was fantastic, stunning views and a private sun deck for sun bathing. Very comfortable accommodation that I would strongly recommend. The food in the buffet was also very good, lots of choice and different dishes every sitting, so difficult to get bored given the options. Staff very friendly, only slight negative was a lack of staff in the bars on occasions.

Travellers be careful about this resort, especially if you booked overwater bungalow. If you booked only a few nights overwater bungalow, they will tell you that there is no more overwater bungalow available so that they will give your bungalow to someone else, who is just want to stay one night with a much higher prices.

This happened to me when I checked in at the resort. I give them a hard time so they decided to check me in to my overwater bungalow. Also, it happened to one of the neighbours as well at the resort.

My partner and I went to cinnamon dhonveli for his 30th birthday.
Pick up from the airport was very smooth and easy, the speed boat transfer was very comfortable and only took around 25 minutes.

We got a free upgrade to a beach bungalow from the superior room as I believe there was still some work going on on the island although this didn’t impact our stay at all.
The beach bungalow was amazing! The bed was huge and the doors opened up right onto the beach. The room was cleaned and tea/coffee/water restocked 3 times a day.

The buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner was amazing! Plenty of vegetarian and gluten free options available. Staff were very attentive and friendly, even remember our drinks orders from the previous days. You could have beer, wine or soft drinks with lunch and dinner but certain cocktails were available at the bars throughout the day. The cocktails were also great!

The beach was cleaned every morning and was immaculate! The most beautiful sand and sea you could imagine! We snorkelled a few metres off the beach and saw rays, black tip reef sharks, parrot fish and much more!

We also did scuba diving with meridis dive and relax - the dive centre on the island. It was some of the best scuba diving we have ever done!! The team did everything for us and the gear/ boat were in great condition! Dives cost roughly $99 each and are well worth the money! Although out of season we saw a manta ray which was incredible along with much more!

The over water bungalows are well positioned but quite a walk from restaurant.
The rooms are nice but housekeeping leaves a lot to be desired for as even after being out of room for 6-8 hours in morning rooms were not cleaned with excuse that the house keepers are busy!
Water is beautiful with excellent scope for snorkeling.
Food is ok with fresh hot cooked section being the best; coffee is mediocre and the restaurant does not have a coffee machine for any expresso or cappuccino. Staff is friendly and smiling so that’s a bonus.
