Second visit as is such a great place to stay.
Is family run and really relaxing.
The apartments are cizy and kept beautifully clean. Restaurant by the main pool is great for lunch small bites or we had a besutiful evening meal too. Breakfasts are fantastic fresh and good value @ €11 as such a good fresh variety.
We had a fantastic view over the sea and lovely balcony to sit on.
3 pools, quite a chilled vibe all very clean and no issues beds.
So helpful and friendly from the maintenace, cleaners cooks who iften dont get a mention.
Reception and the restaurant are so helpful and friendly in a family style. Relaxing.
Koutouloufari itself is a gem of a place, worth a walk to old Hersonissos too. Easy to explore or just chill at pool with wonderful family run tavernas and bars 10 minute stroll away. With a really good value soa at bottom of street.
The hotel cater for their many returning and less mobile guests so kindly as it is on a steep hill.
Which is often lacking in larger and \"luxury\" style places.
Absolutely fantastic. If you want chilled rekaxed and friendly.

Absolute faultless. The property was lovely, private pool was excellent and the food was great. The biggest asset here was the staff. The surrounding area was authentically Greek with plenty of restaurant options and some lovely walks. The hills are not for the less mobile but thankfully didn’t affect me.

Fantastic place to stay. Great location. The staff are welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. We stayed in the 'Superior House' which is actually an apartment. It had everything you need, microwave, fridgefreezer, hot plate, kettle, iron, ironing board etc. The beds were large and comfy and first class air con. Thoroughly recommended!

Great stay as usual.
Have been here many times and its a gem to come back to. Lots of places to eat just 5 mins walk away or you can head down to the main road.
Bar is well stocked and the food is good and reasonably priced.
My only criticism would be the towels and bedding are changed every two days. I mean this if great but perhaps they could do a sign saying if you want towels and bedding changed put this sign face up. Might save some.water, and time.

Everything was quite well, expect two things that I didnt like.

We had a private pool, which during our stay (12 nights) was not cleaned, the floor of the pool was very dirty.

We requested a late check-out due to our cruise leaving at 9 PM, and our request was to stay up to 4 PM, which was not accepted. Hotel was quite empty, there was nobody check-in in our room that day, they approved only till 2 PM..

I suggest Marni Village to be more friendly with its guests!

Basic but charming!

We enjoyed our stay at Marni Village! The room was relatively basic but had everything we needed and most importantly, a comfortable bed. The walls are pretty thin and we heard some noise from the driveway but nothing horrible - it wouldn't stop me from staying there. I can't speak to the food because we didn't eat there.

It was nice to have the option of different pools to go to, because the main one fills up very fast. People \"reserve\" chairs starting from 7:30am, so if you want to get a nice spot, you have to wake up early.

You do need to bring your own beach/pool towel as they are not provided. The town is also very adorable with great restaurants (Nikos the Fisherman and Iokasti Cafe in particular). The souvlaki place nearby is also delicious and inexpensive!

All the staff were so friendly & helpful right down to the cleaners. Everything was spotless and clean. Location was nice & quiet. However our room 218 was not as expected from looking at photos online. The room was alot smaller and gardens not as nice as others. Maybe we were just unlucky with the room allocation. Overall we would recommend and return as we loved Koutoulafari.

A little underwhelming

Area is lovely with beautiful village of Koutoulafari right outside. Wonderful to stroll around. Marni has loads of potential but they really are minimalistic - absolutely nothing in the rooms or bathroom besides some liquid soap. we assume this may not be the case in the height of summer and that they were busy closing up for the winter.

Pleasant place to stay, peaceful and quiet.

Arrived very late, 1.30am, we were greeted by a very friendly cheery receptionist who showed us to our room. The rooms are adequate, beds comfy but nowhere indoors to sit comfortably. Thankfully we could sit outside most of the time. Staff were very friendly at all times. Only issues were ants! On the patio is ok I suppose but in the bathroom is not. Our son found one in his bed one morning.
Views from our room were good and the hotel is only a short walk into Koutouloufari which has lots to offer by way of eateries. A good choice no matter what you want to eat.

Amazing Stay

Arranged with hotel for pick up from the airport which was helpful as the flight arrived late around 11pm. On arrival the receptionist Oxi was so helpful and we were upgraded for 3 of our 4night stay, we paid extra for the air con and safety deposit box and also to stay in the room for a late check out. The hotel is clean and we didn't have a problem getting sunbeds, we are in the hotel a couple of times and the food was good. There are sometimes singers etc in the evening. Room has hairdrier towels washing up liguid liquid soap fridge microwave. We walked down to the beach but took a taxi back for 7 Euro. The staff are so helpful and organised.

Unbearable. Men kicking balls over pool by bar. Noise. No view. No sunny terrace. No privacy . Went home after 2 days not 2 weeks. Huge disappointment. Ants. Can't eat outside due to wasps. Can't sunbathe as no sun in shaded terrace. AWFUL. Complaint submitted to Expedia. Lights on in apartment at midday as so dark.

Brilliant holiday

We booked Marni Village based on previous reviews and were not disappointed. Everything about it is fab. Our superior one bedroom apartment was fairly basic but a good size and perfectly functional. It was kept spotlessly clean. There are 3 pools of which the middle one is the biggest and most busy but plenty of sun loungers. The bar staff deserve a special mention. The Villa style apartments are built around beautiful gardens and because they are built on a hill the views are amazing. There are plenty of lovely bars, restaurants and shops close by. I can't think of anything negative to say and the number of people who we met that were 4th, 5th and higher visit is testimont to how good the place is. Would recommend to anyone.

I stayed 7 nights with my daughter and have just returned on 5 July 2017. Very friendly staff, 3 great pools, fantastic views. You need to be a good walker as it was a 20min walk to the main strip and coming back is uphill so will take longer but just be aware of astray dogs as I hear from the receptionist they attacked a child last year and whilst I was waiting for my transfer back home, a holiday maker stormed into the reception complaining a dog had jumped on her child. Local shops are a bit pricy however, its not worth paying for a taxi to the supermarket. We had a quiet relaxing stay though I wish they had evening entertainment. Not many kids which was good for us. We went in June/July and had excellent weather. Bedrooms are very dated and basic.

We had an upgraded room on arrival. The apartment was very clean, fresh towels and bedding were plentiful and the maid service was great. The staff were very helpful. The tennis court was good and we had a couple of games while we were there. The 3 pools were great and the village feel of Marni is lovely. The short walk to the village is easy and there are plenty of lovely places to eat and drink. Further down the hill to Hersonissos we were not as impressed. Lots of what I call 'brits abroad' kind of places with English breakfasts, happy hours and sports bars but if that's your thing it's an easy 15-20min downhill walk.

Beautiful resort in amazing location

I was worried about booking this being so close to such a large resort like Hersonissos but the setting of this accommodation is peaceful and beautiful. We traveled in early October so it was quiet and the weather was amazing.Marni village is situated close to two wonderful villages with some of the best restaurants we have ever eaten at in Greece. We are used to traveling to smaller less touristy parts of Greece so weren't sure what to expect but it was a wonderful place to stay and we loved the location. The mezzanine rooms are wonderful and the beds are very comfortable. The kitchens are well equipped if you are wanting to cook. The resort is very clean and beautifully maintained and the staff are all wonderful. We arrived at 4:30am after a late flight from London and there was someone waiting to check us in.There are 3 swimming pools which are all wonderful. The resort is built on a hill so if you have walking difficulties then I would request a room at the entrance to the resort.

Marni village is a lovely garden complex with 3 pools, high up overlooking the coast, but only 20 mins walk down to the beach. The village of Koutouloufari is a few minutes away & contains numerous great restaurants & bars.
We had a very large (superior) apartment, which was lovely & spacious, although rather dark & somewhat tatty in places. The area we were in had the apartments quite close to one another, so that our bathroom window overlooked others terraces - which was a slight privacy issue. It looked like the units higher up the hill were more spaced apart.
Good reception, great book swap, showers in the reception for late check out.

we were in a Studio Apartment which had a bedroom with a very comfortable king size bed, shower room and a large dining/living room with 2 corner day beds. There was kitchen facilities there too with small cooker, fridge, coffee machine and kettle. We also had a good size patio with table and chairs.
Only one concern and that is that nowadays it is most unusual to have towels changed almost daily especially when over the kitchen and bathroom sinks there were notices asking us to limit our use of water when possible??

Fantastic Place!

Great place with welcoming staff, helpful in securing a room with a balcony at short notice. Room was comfortable and as expected. Quieter as the week went on as UK schools returning, all pools and loungers were in use at the start, leading to near empty at the top pool which was great.

Ideal having the supermarket just outside the complex open until midnight for late arrivals, however if there was option to have some items/ amenity pack pre-ordered and in the room ready, it would have made it perfect.

Some cloudy days allowed for easy walk to the main town there and back, but as other reviewers have mentioned, there are some steep hills. Massages available in the outdoors, in shaded gazebo was a unique experience and recommended.

Would happily return for another stay in the future.

We stayed here for 4 nights. Decently priced. Air-conditioning was extra but since our room was right under the roof we didn't mind paying. Very nice pools. We ate at the restaurant and the food was good. Plenty of other nice restaurants in the village. It is a hike to the beach but the nice view of from the hotel makes up for it. The beach at the bottom of the village was crowded but we had a car and ventured out elsewhere.

Nice complex in nice area.

Set in well kept gardens on three levels Marni Village is well situated a short walk from the village of Koutoulafari. Rooms are cleaned daily with towel changes every other day. The main pool has a bar and cafe restaurant that serves food and drink all day until late. Staff are very pleasant and helpful. There is a small supermarket and bakery 50 metres from the entrance. All in all a good base for a family break in Crete.

Just what we were looking for!

Set in traditional and beautiful Koutouloufari, Marni village was a lovely place to stay. A steep walk uphill from the main town but wouldn't of had it in any other place. Staff were excellent and get to use facilities after check out which helps if on a late night flight

Quiet hotel in a small village, away from the fuss

We liked the hotel, it was all we needed for our vacation. Mind that it's not close to the beach - 15 minutes walk downhill, we always took a taxi back (with 2 small kids we couldn't walk back).
The village itself was much nicer than Herssonissos, and we were glad we weren't sleeping there.

This was my second stay at the Marni village and was a bit disappointed with my room first time. I upgraded my room for this stay and it was worth the extra payment. Room was cleaned daily with towels and bedding changed every second day. Our room was very clean. Bar selling meals and snacks with good choice, friendly staff. Entertainment twice a week. Three pools to choose from. Close to the village but is on a steep hill.

Third visit and still love it.

Our third stay at Marni. We were very late arriving thanks to a dodgy sat nav, but they left the key in the door for us and let us check in the next day! We opted for the larger apartment and the value for money is ridiculous.
The grounds are a credit to the gardeners- it really is very well kept and beautiful. You look out to sea in one direction, and up to the hills in the other. Bliss.
The water wasn't massively hot the first couple of days but that soon sorted itself.
Koutouloufari is a stones throw away and you'll be hard pressed to have a duff meal there. We really like Nikos The Fisherman and Emanuelles.
I'm sure we'll be back again in years to come.

Picturesque holiday

Breath-taking views at every turn, and every comfort neeed to make this a memorable vacation. Within 5 minutes of the beach, beautiful mountain views, and a short walk to the very picturesque Koutouloufari, Piscopiano, and old village of Hersonissos. Tavernas and shops abound. We have been coming here at least once per year for the past 8 years and we will be back.

Two studio rooms side by side for 2 adults and 2 children. absolutely ideal. Lovely choice of eating places in local Tavernas. A long walk down to the beach, but all downhill and got a taxi back. Visited a reptile recue centre which everyone enjoyed, the owners informative and really delightful.Everyone we met in Crete were friendly and welcoming. My Grand-daughter had an ear infection and the local medical centre diagnosed the problem, took a no nonsense approach and gave her penicillen, and followed her up with 3 further appointments. Certainly not the medical help we have been used to.

Beautiful place to stay and perfectly located in Koutouloufari, a stunning little village with the best choice of restaurants on the door step. Next time I would perhaps ask for an upgrade to a junior suite or something slightly larger than the studio but in saying that the room we had was sufficient and the view lovely.
The locals in the village of Koutouloufari are very friendly, dinning out in the evenings is easy and relatively cheap. Also there is a bakery and supermarket right next door to the hotel which is perfect.
Swimming pools at Marni Village are excellent too.

A Hidden Gem

Had a wonderful holiday here at Marni Village, again. This is our 2nd time here. Certainly we would go back again. If you are looking for a peaceful relaxing holiday, this is the place to go. We stayed in a studio which was very comfortable and suited our needs. Everyone at the resort goes out of their way to make sure you have the holiday you are looking for. The setting is very beautiful and relaxing.

Travelled as a couple in our 30s and stayed at Marni Village for 10 nights. The apartments were clean, basic but had everything that you might need. If anything was required the staff were very helpful. The towels were changed regularly and maids attended each day to make beds, empty bins etc. The 3 pools were excellent the main pool had more children around it so we tended to use the bottom pool which was quieter. Excellent location, a 3 minute walk from the village of Koutoulafari which had many lovely restaurants and bars, more than enough to keep us entertained on our 10 night stay.

We stayed for a week and loved it. The hotel staff is extremely helpful. The place is beautiful and well looked after. That includes rooms , bar, swimming pools and the facilities. It is a wlking distance to a beautiful village and also 15 min walk to the seaside. Great value for money..

Marni friendly apartments in good location

We liked the location close to Koutouloufari's many restaurants and a supermarket & bakery very close by. We weren't happy with our allocated room, a bit dark, and found the staff very obliging in finding us an alternative apartment.
All the staff were friendly; there were plenty of sun beds available and entertainment laid on two nights a week. Prices at the bar were very reasonable and we can recommend their omelettes.
This resort is not near a beach (but there are three pools) and we hired a car to explore with.
Our only comment is that the rooms are sparingly equipped and furnished; three of everything is limiting unless you wash up often (and washing up liquid is not supplied).
We enjoyed our week at Marni Village and met several people who return regularly.

Lovely family run place. Very cheap and jut what I needed. Huge bed, kitchen, TV etc it is only 3* but truly good for its class. Would go again if in Crete for sure. So cheap!!! The nearby beach is not so nice though but the bus stop to the centre is near enough so you have better options there. Do visit this hotel!!!!

Enjoyed my stay at the Marni village, very pleased with friendliness of the staff employed at this complex. Room was kept clean and tidy with towels regularly changed. Enjoyed breakfast at the roof terrace pool area, excellent sea and mountain views. The room had Wi-Fi access which was free and worked without problem during my stay. The only downside was the tv was supposed to have had a movie channel but this was not the case. Also if you walk back from Hersonnosis it is all up hill so can be a bit tiring in the heat, but you can always walk down and taxi back.

My wife and I spent 8 nights at Marni Village in late April / early May 2013. We had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay at the hotel. We think that it is excellent value for money, although we got a particularly good deal as our stay was before the busy season had started.

Brilliant complex for everyone alike, couples and families. Staff very friendly and helpful, apartments clean and well equipped, if you don't mind a walk uphill the apartments at the top are lovely and quiet. Would definitely go back to Marni Village.

Lovely villa and location

Had a great time. The site is lovely with great views. When we got out of the taxi we were hit with the wonderful smell of the flowers (Jasmine I think) and the gardener deserves huge praise for the great planting. Had a villa for ten days and really enjoyed it. The local village has great restaurants with really friendly staff/owners whilst still maintaining it's traditional Cretan feel. Great place for a relaxing holiday.

Nice on the outside - shame about the room

From the outside the Marni looks nice and well kept. The grounds are pretty and the Reception area well maintained with good facilities.
The biggest disappointment was the room. We had booked a superior studio with a sea view and were looking forward to our stay having seen all the positive reviews. Alas, the room (312) was dark, dingy and shabby. We have stayed in a lot of places in Greece and accept that a lot of the accommodation can be basic. However, the website/on-line photos certainly looked nothing like our room. There was one side window, which looked straight on to the apartment next door, so we had to keep this closed for privacy. It was so dingy that we had to have the lights on or the front door wide open to be able to see. The so-called balcony had no privacy (it was actually table & chairs outside the entrance to ours and next door's apartment). It also had a tree in front which blocked the view, and you had to stand outside next door's entrance to see the sea. We told the Receptionist that we were disappointed with the room and asked if we could change. Unfortunately, her response was \"well, what were you expecting?.. you are probably just tired after your journey! The only other room they could offer us was a ground floor apartment near the the main pool, but this wasn't any better.
The apartment was shabby and the cutlery drawer smelt damp. In fairness, the more expensive rooms may be better, but I would say that the Sunrise next door looked a lot nicer.

Anybody planning a trip to Greece… make sure to go to Crete, stay in Hersonissos and bed down in Marni Village. Great place, excellent location, kind and helpful staff. Beware though, that the hotel provided \"airport transfer\" is nothing more than a €35 taxi ride while it's more suitable just to rent a car for same price.

Comfortable, clean, good value when discounted

Fine location for a night's stay before/after a flight. About 30 minutes by car from the Iraklion (Heraklion) airport, but better value than most other hotels that are closer to the airport. Clean, comfortable rooms (though note that air conditioning may cost extra; for us it was 5 euros). Reception staff were friendly and helpful. Free wi-fi was very, very slow and didn't well work in our room, so we had to go to the pool or the reception to use it dependably. The village just a few minutes walk west of the hotel has many charming restaurants and shops, with a vastly more relaxed and attractive atmosphere than the beach area.

Lovely area in Crete

We had a lovely stay at Marni Village the pools are fantastic and it is in a lovely area, quiet in the day but lots of taverna's and bars for you evening entertainment. The appartment we had was a little basic and dated I think some have been refurbished though, but we wern't in it long enough to really bother us. On the down side the rooms are very hot and we were not aware that you had to pay for the air con at 5euros per day so added 35euros on to the price of our stay for a week, you really cant manage without. Had a really nice stay

Could be a pleasant village resort

At end of season & my room was cold . Staff lock up pool furniture when not present. Has great pool and games room. Staff seemed aloof. Was advised to park on gravel, rocky area when staff park on bitumen. Cleaning staff managed to come when i was there and suited them to leave it to next day. Has nice view over sea and bay. Would had been good to be advised quickest way to Chersonisos rather than driving extra 10 mins if don't have gps. Priced ok as has kitchenette. Wi fi worked well.

Nice and quiet in the shoulder season

We very much enjoyed our spacious studio apt overlooking the pool. The high season was over so the place was quiet with only a hand full of guests. Still the staff did not fail to deliver a nice clean safe place to stay. Only complaint was a slow Internet wifi.

Comfortable & Convenient

Stayed at Marni in Sept 2011, this place is so conveniently placed - walkable distance to the hub of Hersonissos/Star Beach (10 mins), but also with the peaceful & serenely beautiful hill villages of Koutouloufari & Piskopiano just around the corner.
Marni is quiet, clean and scenic. The staff are friendly and accomodating to your needs. The only thing wanting was a slightly bigger bathroom but this in no way tarnished what was na superb holiday

Improvements needed

We stayed in a family suite which was very spaciou. We specifically asked for this accommodation because it had a bath. This would have been wonderful if the plug wasn't too small. There was only one bathroom and the door wouldn't shut. The handle was loose. The kitchen was poorly equipped with limited utensils. The oven/ grill didn't work. The fridge was large and we bought alot of food that was thrown away because of these problems.

The view was lovely. It was safe for young children but those with pushchairs should be made aware of the half dozen steps up to the appartment door.

The main pool was clean but had alot of missing tiles. Sunbeds were plentiful as were sun umbrellas. The pool bar staff were very nice and the bar snacks were comparatively priced and of good quality. The barbecue night was great fun and the Greek dancers were very entertaining. Certain members of the main reception were very rude and extremely unhelpful. The cleaners kept the rooms very clean. The plants and vegetation were also well tended to.

The local area has an excellent choice of restaurants and those that we sampled served reasonably priced delicious food.

The best beach is a 10€ cab ride away.

Air conditioning is a chargeable extra 15€ a day for our suite.

Nice Location but poor living accomodation!

Lovely location, first class cleaning service, fantastic entertainment, good pools but terrible accomodation. Not suitable for family of four apart from to sleep. Saying that the beds were rock hard. one wardrobe between all and no living area. The layout was quite dangerous with high drop steps leading to kitchen, Few falls happened. Would not recommend the maisonette for a family.

Quality for Value and outside over touristy areas

Good value hotel, comfortable room, fast free wi-fi. Nice pools and ample free parking. Quiet location not far from Malia but avoiding the madness of high season in that town. TV channels vary according to the guests in house but a good selection avaiable.

Two small villages and supermarket within 10mins walk make it ideal for shops/eating out.

Overall a pretty good find

Marni is a pretty good place to stay. The rooms are a decent size, beds are confortable, rooms have balconies for sitting out on an evening and there is a bar and resturant onsite. Plenty of supermarkets and resturants nearby too.

There are a coiple of points which are slightly negative. Firstly, if you are driving there by car the hotel is very difficult to find. We only saw one signpost with Marni on it and that was when we were almost on top of the place. The surrounding villages are very poorly signposted, as are most places in Crete, so finding Marni is a bit of a headache.

Secondly, I only gave the cleanliness of the room 4 out of 5. Although the room, bathroom and bedroom were clean the cooking area was quite poor. Everything was badly washed up, sticky door handles and a dirty fridge. If the kitchen area had been as clean as everything else I would have given it 5 out of 5. If Marni supplied a dishcloth and some washing up liquid that may improve the situation.

The cleaners came each day and cleaned a bit, towels changed 2 days was perhaps not frequent enough, but not too bad. Overall, we had a good stay and will be recommending it to others.

Wonderful place to stay, away from the hustle and bustle of Hersonissos

Marni Village is up on the hill from Hersonissos, away from the beach, and is right next to a small village that's full of restaurants, cafes, stores, etc... It's very cute up there, and nice to walk around. The view from the hill - particularly at sunrise is beautiful. I found the hotel pleasant and quiet, although I was in a building that was far away from the party by the bar/lounge (which can be loud). I found the room quite comfortable (some might think the bed is too hard), and was happy to have a small fridge - I stayed in a junior suite, which I thought was a good deal. The room was in good condition, although the doorknob needed repair since it was sort of falling off on the inside (I never got around to telling them...). You have to pay extra for the a/c here, but I didn't since it was the end of August. I expect you need to do it in July...

If you want to go to Hersonissos, it's a 25-30 minute walk (down a steep hill). Cab is about 10 euros, or maybe 7-8 if you don't let them overcharge you (always a fun experience). Cabs show up in like 2 minutes when you ask the front desk to call them. I stayed here because it was considerably cheaper than hotels by the water that are just as nice, and my net costs were less. Beaches elsewhere on Crete are much nicer, so I didn't feel the need to be near the beach here.

The family staying in the larger suite next to me were always grilling something outside, and even offered me some, along with some wine. I'd go back.

Hotel located a 25 min taxi ride from airport. Reception always helpful. Main pool is a good average size with nice views.

Hotel well positioned for plenty of authentic Greek tavernas in local village and only a 10-15 min walk down to the more busier Hersonissos (although you will need to get a taxi back up the hill!).

Holiday here is suitable for families and couples.
