Our 2nd trip to this wonderful, historic hotel. The staff was incredible, from check in, dining room, room service, housekeeping, all outstanding. When combined with an incredible view of the lake and downtown Dalat, this beautiful old piece of historical significance is hard to beat.

Very classy hotel and extremely good service. Coincidentally my parents stay here for their honeymoon in 1960. It’s been beautifully updated, but still has a very French history and charm to it. Also has a great view of the lake. Very peaceful place to stay coming from Saigon.

I recently stayed at this hotel and had a wonderful experience. The gardens were beautifully maintained, creating a relaxing atmosphere, and the decoration throughout the hotel was welcoming. The staff were exceptionally nice and very professional, always ready to help with a smile.

We had an early morning flight and requested a special breakfast box to take with us. The hotel was fantastic in accommodating our request—the breakfast was prepared on time and included a delicious selection. Overall, we were very happy with our stay and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area.

Transports You Back to the 1920's, but Loud

This is an exceptional property that transports you through time back to the 1920's and the Colonial Period of Vietnam. I'm talking white glove service from bellman in caps and tails. Very cool experience and they try very hard to provide top-notch service. The location is walking distance to the night market which is a bit of a problem because the night market is LOUD. I can't fault the hotel for that, but we booked the priciest suites which faced the lake, but the night market is on the other side of the lake, so perhaps rooms facing the other direction would be quieter. The property could really use a swimming pool, but otherwise, it was an exceptional experience. Note that the afternoon tea and the breakfast buffet are loaded with lots of good-looking options, but most of them are disappointing when it comes to taste and texture. Great coffee drinks for the afternoon tea, though. I highly recommend trying the Dalat pizza -- not like anything else I've ever had, but we loved it and got several at the night market. And the temperature in Dalat was insanely pleasant after the heat and humidity of Ho Chi Minh City.

This was my first trip to this fine property and quite honestly, I could not imagine going to DaLat and staying anywhere else. The service was excellent, the room and the view was perfect, and the bar fixed just a wonderful Gin and Tonic. While sitting out on the expansive veranda during a soft summer rain that blew in, I felt transported back in time. I remarked to my fiance that I felt like I was in a Graham Greene novel. Just sitting there enjoying my G and T made the long trip to Vietnam worthwhile.

We took advantage of the breakfast in the morning and the high tea in the evening. Everything about the hotel was just perfect. The room was great, the view was stellar, and food was wonderful.

The manager, the assistant manager, and the front desk staff were all so nice and professional. The bellman were great as well. I can not thing of a single negative thing about this grand old hotel..

My only regret was that we only stayed for a couple of nights. When I return to DaLat you can be assured that I will staying at the Palace Hotel with all of its charm and elegance.

The hotel is on top of the hill with a wonderful view of Xuân Huong lake. The property has lush greenery with flowers in bloom! Excellent breakfast buffet and afternoon tea! The room was very spacious with balcony! Our room was a little noisy and so they gave us a complimentary upgrade! We stayed here for 5 nights and looking forward to stay here again on our next trip!

We stayed in the wing that was built in 2017. However, due to poor maintenance, it seemed to have degraded much more than its age. The rooms are nicely decorated and large. The wooden doors and windows with plantation style shutter doors is a nice touch.

General Areas: 3/5
The hotel has great potential and must have been very nice many years ago. But due to lack of maintenance or poor repair works, it made the hotel look more like a 3-star hotel. You can see areas where they sloppy fixed the marble steps or duct taped things.

Services: 3/5
Services is a key area for improvement. The staff is nice but lacks proper training. They seemed very stiff and did not smile much. It’s definitely a lack of good management issue. Our room came with afternoon tea and sweets. While the cakes/cookies section was extensive, they limited us to ONE free coffee or tea per person. Really? A 5-star hotel?

There is a decent selection of breakfast items. However, it was not as tasty as many other hotels/resorts we stayed at in Asia.

The hotel is in a beautiful location overlooking the lake. The rooms are large and airy and have a grand bathroom. Plenty of hot water and spacious.
There was a problem during our stay (3 nights) with a motorbike at the bottom of the grand drive with attached loud speaker advertising from 8am to 6pm daily. The short and very noisy text was on a continuous loop. The hotel staff were unable to deal with this as the motorbike was not on their land. For a luxury hotel ( and its guests )this noise pollution is a serious problem.
The location gives easy access to the lake and old town, watch out though as you cross the road, motorbikes comes from all directions, perhaps the hotel could ask one of the very many staff to help elderly or infirm guests over the road ?
This doesn’t detract from the overall charm of the hotel or the good intentions from the staff.

A Grand Hotel for Kings and Queens

My wife and I stayed two nights at the hotel. The hotel looked very much like it was when I stayed there as a kid with my parents in early 1970’s. I must admit that the decor of this old and grand hotel is still suitable for Kings and Queens nowadays as my wife was in awe. Our lake view room presents us a picturesque scenery right in front of our windows. The view gave us an illusion that we were in Alpine Europe. The breakfast, high tea and dinner were all excellent in food and services. Nevertheless, there were a few silly incidents that reminded us we were still in a developing socialist country. First, when we find out that our room ‘s central window could not be closed securely, we called the handy man to fix it for us. He brought along a dinner fork instead of a proper screw driver. Hence, it took him a little while to fix the window. Second, we wanted to exchange a USD100 note for Vietnam Dong in the afternoon of a Saturday, the front desk staff initially told us that they ran out of VND. Then, I told him that I would have to go to another 5 Star hotel nearby to exchange it. Then, they told me to wait since they can arrange to bring some VND from a hotel nearby. Lastly there was this 1940’s Citron of France parking in front of the hotel’s doorsteps. The car was probably restored as an antique car years ago but now, it has been slowly rusting away to be junked. No wonder as I have been confirmed that this grand hotel is now managed by the government instead of Sofitel.

Centrally located to the Dalat market and lake, this hotel had a very colonial feel complete with uniformed porter, maids, and a classic roadster parked up front. Breakfast buffet was excellent and well worth the extra cost. Walking distance to the lake to ride the swan boats. In the morning, be sure to walk to the Da Lat market across the street to take in all the beautiful and fragrant flowers.

This Hotel is very good location. it is right in the city but very privacy. it has a nice view and very convenience. it is about 100 years old but well maintaining, clean very presented. staff is very friendly and nice. However, some need more training and more staff.

We arrived at hotel in the raining evening without any helps as bell boys were not in the front. However, they were supporting us a lots during our stay. Some staff were very helpful some did not know what to do. Breakfast is fine but we had been asked to wait outside as no more table. that is something the manager should think about it.

AC is not working in room 120 and sew is broken smell very bad in the room 129.
Manager is a lair and a professional at all. He told me he fix the AC remotely. The AC is old and not even high tech or modern. How can he fixed it remotely and still not working got three nights. They try to fix it every days but they could get any cool air out.

The palace is in need of a makeover. Although the hotel itself is in decent shape, the rooms are tired and uncomfortable. The mattress in my room was literally hard as a rock. The hotel is aware but they won’t pay the money. The grounds are expansive and well maintained.

A Wonderful Place To Stay in Dalat

We stayed at Dalat Palace hotel mid last December. Both of our rooms were very clean, spacious, and lovely with a beautiful French architecture and interior decor. The hotel also has a well maintained garden landscape with spectacular hill view. I really love the hotel's breakfast restaurant for its fancy but relaxing setting, offering a stunning view of the floral garden, Xuan Huong river, the mountains and even part of the city. We also came to this warm, cozy bar restaurant to enjoy a few drinks with live piano music at night.

The hotel is located right in downtown Dalat, just a few minutes walk to Dalat market and Xuan Huong lake. It's also just 6' walk to a big supermarket so it's very convenient to get snacks, drinks or food. It's easy to call taxis as they'll just pick you up right in front of the hotel lobby. Hotel staffs are very friendly and helpful. We'd definitely stay here if we come to Dalat next time.

The old building was kind of dirty and smelly. The shower water was terrible. The water temperature changes from cold to very hot and hot to cold and I couldn’t adjusted so they gave me a different room after I threatened to leave the hotel. The new building is beautiful but the water pressure is very low. It takes forever to take a shower because the water is dripping instead of flowing.

Journey to the past

Nice hotel for an experience of its past grandeur but will not stay again as we expected a higher standard. Hotel has no lifts for seniors. We happened to visit during Tet holidays which was a mistake. It was overcrowded.
Rooms are decent but not excellent. The first room we had did not have a shower, only a long bath which was quite dangerous for seniors. Toiletries was not replenished every day. Rooms also had no air-con. We opened the windows and mosquitoes came in the room.
We managed to get a change in the rooms only after most of the guests had gone home.
I guess for a one time stay it was ok. The hotel was beautifully furnished with fresh lilies everywhere and French decor. The view overlooking the terrace was also very nice.

Beautiful heritage hotel

This hotel is perfect for people who love heritage luxury royal style. It s a very old hotel was build in 1922. It has been maintained very well, kept in as much as everything being used there. Restaurant is beautiful but food is normal.
Mini pub with live music is a plus.
Karaoke rooms is awesome.
Has the best view of Ho Xuan Huong lake.

We stayed for 2 nights within a month long trip in which we stayed in 5 stars hotels. This hotel should be 3 stars at best it was the worse hotel we stayed in. Beautiful impressive grounds and reception area. Amazingly decorated for christmas and the building is stunning. This are the good points, bad points outweigh the good ones; bedroom was small and cramped very old (not antic) cheap furniture , very small old bath, no proper shower, leaked when we used it and ok if you are 1.5 meters tall.

We arrived at Da Lat when I was raining on and off. From the outside, the hotel has a classic colonial look and feel... Cuz it was built in 1920's... I was very impressed with the lobby and the appearance of the hotel... The lobby's fire place and furniture were very unique ... Very cool...

Hotel staffs and uniforms were pretty awesome and cool as the same time... I felt like I was in a 1920's Classic movies.... Staffs were very friendly and helpful... They tried extremely hard to please guests and very polite...

The breakfast was included with our stay... The food was okay... But again the staffs were extremely friendly and caring.

We checked into the room on the 3rd flood... The hallway was not well lit... And because of the old decor... It looked kinda creepy and scary...

The room had the view of the lake in front of the hotel... Everything in the hotel was from 1920's decors... Bed was comfortable... The decors were very cool with the classic feel... However, all the cool things about the hotel ended there...

Issues:
The water from the shower came out cold for a few seconds and got really hot a few seconds later... The shower's curtain did not work correctly, which allowed the water to escape all over the floor... We called but they were unable to fix the water issue.. And moved us to another room the next night... The cold and hot water issue was solved but the flashing water onto the floor was still the same...

I would not recommend this hotel

I was in Vietnam for business. A couple of my friends encouraged me to take the flight to Dalat solely for staying at the Dalat Palace. I am SO glad that I did. What an incredible historic hotel! The 105 steps

Dalat is an attractive city and the hotel is a major landmark sited on the city's main lake. Yes there is the constant problem as in all of Vietnam, of crossing the road.
Everithing about the hotel is superior. Our airport transfer worked well and thereafter the service was faultless.
We had booked a lake view balcony room which was large and well appointed. Colonial style with clawfoot bath and old style plumbing. Word of caution here: the edge of the bath near the wall is not sealed so untill we got used to the hand held shower fitting a small flood ensued.
Housekeeper called - \"no problem\" everything cleaned up in a trice.
Breakfast on the terrace each day was very good.

The Dalat Palace is a unique experience showcasing old colonial style and makes a visit to Dalat memorable , expect the usual deferential five star treatment from staff , helpful if not as friendly as boutique hotels in Vietnam .
Overall a great place to stay , though for the prices charged breakfast has room for improvement

Very romantic hotel for honeymoon or anniversary.

In 1974 my husband and I were in Dalat Palace Hotel in occasion of our honeymoon.And now, 40 years after the same city, the same hotel and we ate in the same room now is the Rabelais restaurant. We had our memorable romantic dinner thanks to Trung who was very nice and professional, in addition Hien the pianist who played for us many favorite songs during almost three hours.How wonderful this dinner was! Cheers to Trung and Hien! And the Dalat Palace staff who also was very nice, all these added more sweet memories to our 40th anniversary. We hope to coming back here again for our another special occasion ;-)

Perfect Romantic Getaway

The exterior design of the hotel is modernized, but we stepped back in time to the height of French art deco as soon as we entered the beautiful lobby. Our room was beautiful with a soft, comfortable bed and deep claw tub, but the best part was our picturesque view of Ho Xuan Huong lake. We loved dining at Le Rabelais for dinner and breakfast - the food was exquisite. Our only complaints would be the hotel rooms aren't equipped with air conditioning or heat, and we smelled cigarette smoke from Larry's Bar in our room every evening.

Nice historic hotel in the heart of Dalat with great views over the lake. Kept all the classic touches intact which means no AC which was a problem the weekend I was there. Old style phones work, but not great. Free Wi-Fi worked well however. Old tub with shower that assures the bathroom floor will be covered in water when you finish. Buffet was average and staff kind of cold. Other than that, nice historic place in Dalat.

Absolute luxury

We came for 2 days initially to relax after 12 days travelling, we loved it so much we booked another four days have had a fabulous time. The restaurant is wonderful and the service 5 star. Larrys bar a great place for a drink during happy hour and the hotel itself is well located.the reception staff couldn't help us enough organising tours with the hotel car and even booking our bus trip on to nha trang. We would definitely stay here again.

Lovely and relaxing and somewhat removed from the constant street noise of Vietnam, yet only a 10 minute stroll to town. Enjoyed our stay although the hotel is old and showers in a claw foot bath can lead to unintended bathroom flooding! Our room was clean, small but functional with beautiful period furnishings. Breakfast in the large - and I mean large! - dining room was good although limited options, but the view and morning sunlight were sublime. We dined in the hotel one night but contrary to what we read, we didn't find the food that impressive. In Dalat, we enjoyed a stroll around the lake, golf, and an excellent meal at Long Hoa.

Grand French Colonial hotel, centrally located

Classic grande dame prominently situated near the downtown. Almost impossible to get lost! Quietly elegant, like stepping back in time. All the services of an international five-star hotel at a fraction of the price. Very formal dining room, with live piano music every night. Poirot would feel right at home here.

A real Palace in Dalat!

This magnificent palace from the Indochina era is ideally located with a view on the lake and superbly managed even if it is not a Sofitel anymore. The hotel restaurant is as good as if you were in Paris. I suggest you try the fresh artichokes at the Bistro de la Poste next door, they are grown all around Dalat along with strawberries! Very interesting visits to make in the surrounding villages of ethnic minorities!

A lovely heritage hotel.

I thoroughly enjoyed my two nights in the hotel. The manager generously upgraded my room to the from of the hotel where the view is of the grounds and the lake...especially beautiful at sunrise and sunset. Thoughtful touches included a step to make getting in and out of the tub easier. The linens on the bed and towels were of high quality and the down pillows and duvet made sleeping well very easy. The bed is very firm, but I think that is how beds are in Asia from my broad experience. I dined in the hotel-a generous discount was offered on food and wine. My meals were delicious, beautifully presented and the service was very attentive. I loved the retro touches of the telephone, the bath fixtures, the chandeliers in the bath and bedroom and the overall ambience of the hotel.

Hotel is dated to the point it cannot function

No heating or A/C windows rattle and have huge gaps which cause drafts. No way of showering without flooding the bathroom floor. Breakfast is disgusting no choice and food is cold. No way is this a 5 Star hotel. Stunning building but no good as a hotel. Avoid lots is other hotels which are hotels no outdated buildings living on a 80 year reputation.

A historical hotel

On the first day of our arrival, there was no doorman helping us with our luggages till I went and called them. Though hotel has very nice layout and bird view of the lake, the bathroom has an antique bathtub but it's very disgusting. I had to wash it before we could take a bath. On the 2nd day, we dined at the only restaurant on the ground floor, I ordered tiger prawn with scollops. I was surprised they served with 3 tinny tiger prawns (I would rather call them shrimps) I checked with waiter and was told prawns were sold out, instead there only have shrimps. I was speechless.

Ghosts of a Colonial Past

We loved the amazing attention to detail in every room, in every meal, in every service rendered to us. Both of us were surprised that not much has been written about this remarkable, historic art deco hotel. It was like finding a hidden jewel. Wandering around, we stumbled upon more and more beautiful speciality rooms like the pink library or a cigar room. Of course the ballroom was magnificent too. The highlights is the afternoon high tea on the porch.

Lifeless Palace stay

Dalat Palace gives its guests the pretense of a palatial lifestyle of a bygone era. However there is a certain vacuous feeling about it, accentuated only by the empty palatial lobby, grand staircase and corridors filled with French empire period furniture and artifacts. Walls were filled with huge reproductions of French masters. Aside from the few staffers in uniform, usually speaking in hushed tones, there were hardly any other souls than my husband and myself occupying the entire imposing building during our entire two- day and two-night stay there. The gardens surrounding the Palace were immense and well manicured. Our suite was a spacious one with a large bathroom and a terrace overlooking the lake. The gym was poorly equipped with malfunctioning treadmills. Over all the service when required was almost flawless. But would we stay there again? Probably not.

Very Snobby

The hotel itself is beautiful but the staff were a little snobby for our liking. They weren't too impressed that we didn't take them up on the opportunity to eat at the restaurant...offering it on two separate occasions on our two night stay. We, however, had done our research online and read that the food was horrible and for a price tag of double/triple the price of anywhere else in Vietnam...we got a taxi everyday to V Cafe instead!

Nice for the experience

Only stayed one night, hubby was sick so we didnt get the full \"experience\" of the hotel, the staff were very nice, hotel overall was expensive however this is five star...

Larrys bar was disappointing, I spent the evening reading my book there as hubby was sleeping, only me and two busuness travellers at the bar, television blaring in the background, not a very nice ambience and I found the bar menu unappealing, nice experience but probably better value elsewhere.

Simply gorgeous

The hotel is absolutely wonderful, beautifully preserved, you can feel that you have been transformed back in time.
Our room on the 1st floor was overlooking the lake, two nice comfortable beds, high quality linen, period detalils including lamps, furniture, nice dark wooden floor. The bathroom takes you back in time, although, has all modern conveniences. The shower was an old copper thing with a wooden handle, still working. The hotel has this wonderful old time ambiance, common areas, the library, the restaurant were tastefully appointed with historical pieces.
Although, we received all the attention of the staff but felt a bit deserted as I believe we were the only guests at that time.
The restaurant services nice food both for breakfast ( not included in our rate, no buffet, needs to be ordered), we also had a dinner once which was very good. So, the restaurant is highly recommended.
Overall, our stay was very memorable and I enjoyed it very much.

Dalat Palace Hotel is an experience in itself.

Dalat Palace Hotel is immaculate. I absolutely LOVE the attention to detail. The staff were friendly, helpful, and very professional. A few porters occasionally stand in at Hotel du Parc.

The beauty and grandeur of the hotel has been restored and it feels like you've stepped back into time, into an elegant and opulent era. We didn't want to leave our beautiful world, so my husband and I traversed the halls of the hotel one afternoon, taking in the beautiful and elegant architecture, furnishings, and design. Nothing was overdone.

We had a few cocktails at the bar in Le Rebelais restaurant and being vintage cocktail fans, we were not disappointed. Their cocktails were also era appropriate. We also found Larry's Bar in the basement. What a nice contrast! It's a (clean) dive bar playing Van Halen, Aerosmith, and other classic rock bands! High and low--it was great!

Our room was lovely. The bed and pillows were amazing! The down pillows and duvet were nice and thick. The sheets were heavenly. Very comfortable.
