Absolutely stunning place. As a photographer, it was hard to get through my head that a place like this can exist, with so much wildlife and scenery, without being staged. It was real and natural.

Crossing the field to the restaurant, I was focused on a Parakeet up in the tree, then two Scarlet Macaws flew overhead and a Ringed Kingfisher showed up with a fish, just outside of the restaurant’s balcony! Can’t forget about the Howler Monkey that showed up also!

The food was amazing, farm to table. Each morning we saw workers bringing up fresh pineapple and plantains from their fields.

The staff was amazing!!

Sorry we were almost late to dinner every night 😂

We really like the resort grounds. They also help with delivering our luggage to the bungalow on the golf cart. The restaurant was a bit far. Also breakfast starts at 7 am which was really an inconvenience as many of our tours started early. We basically had to skip two breakfasts out of four. We tried to ask for sandwiches but the staff was not very helpful with that. There were also just 3 hot springs pools functioning. The swimming pool needs a bit of cleaning.

Wonderful family run business! Delightful bungalows nestled in the rainforest — with lovely hammocks on the porch. Staff was great at accommodating traveler with limited mobility — picking us up in a golf-type cart for meals. Massage was so relaxing — and outdoors! Food was tasty, portions generous and staff attentive. Secluded for peace and quiet. Rain on the tin roof was mesmerizing!

Our room was clean, beds were comfortably firm. The bathroom could have used a light fixture closer to the sink/mirror, as half your face was in shadow when shaving. The exterior light above the door did not work, making the entry a bit dark.

The food was exceptional at the restaurant. We ate dinner there twice, and were very happy with our meals (tomahawk steak, hamburger, and chicken cordon bleu). The piña colada was delicious.

The staff was very friendly, helpful, and eager to provide great service.

Our family had the pleasure of staying at Heliconias Nature Inn and Hot Springs for a few days in April, and we left with wonderful memories and a few suggestions for future improvement.

We stayed in the Glass House Bungalow, which was an absolute highlight of our trip. The room was beautifully surrounded by nature, and we thoroughly enjoyed relaxing in the hammocks on our private balcony. The peaceful atmosphere, combined with the lush greenery and natural sounds, made it feel like a true escape from everyday life.

The hotel breakfast was excellent—fresh, flavorful, and a perfect start to each day. However, it would be great if there were more variety offered on different days to keep the experience exciting for longer stays.

We made good use of the pool and the hot springs during our stay. The hot springs were relaxing and serene, and the pool was enjoyable, especially for families. To enhance the pool experience further, it would be helpful if the hotel provided pool floats or toys for children to play with. Additionally, offering ice cream and snacks by the pool (even for an extra charge) would be a great touch for guests spending time by the water.

The staff at Heliconias were incredibly friendly and helpful. We especially appreciated their willingness to transport us to and from our room using company golf carts—this added a convenient and thoughtful touch to our stay.

Overall, we had a great experience and left feeling very satisfied.

Beautiful, well maintained grounds and excellent service. Every encounter with the staff from the reception desk, to the restaurant and hotel room was a pleasant experience. We travelled with families and rented three premium treehouse and all kids and adults loved it. Waking up to the sound of tweeting birds was the best good morning. We loved the peace and quiet and did not mind that it was 25 mins from La Fortuna or took longer to get to Arenal area. The free breakfast was delicious and lunch dinner (same menu) were generous portions. Will definitely come back again. We saw three sloths near the petting zoo and another in the hiking area. This was hands down our favorite hotel

This resort is amazing and I wish I was back there now. We only stayed here 2 nights of our 8 night stay in Costa Rica, but it was our favorite. We have a family of 4 and we stayed in a deluxe treehouse which fit us nicely. The grounds are beautiful and walkable and the staff is friendly. We were able to see multiple sloths and plenty of other wildlife. One afternoon, my teenaged daughter accidently left her wallet (with cash) in the restaurant, but it was kept safe by the staff (Luis) until she realized her mistake and retrieved it. We took the night tour with Victor and thoroughly enjoyed it, and we appreciated his passion about farming and sustainability. Also, the coffee is amazing. We ate all of our meals here and the food was fresh and delicious (I would personally recommend the farm to table casado and the breakfast omelet). Overall we recommend this resort to anyone looking for a relaxing, quiet stay, close to nature with quality food and great staff.

Hot springs are not natural, towels need to be updated they were torn, hotel it is very far away from tourists places, a car is needed to drive around . BED BUGS!! There were live bed bugs in the king bed in treehouse #2 when we stayed. I understand the property is in the jungle, but these were actual human parasitic bed bugs that were in the bed biting me, and I have videos and photos. When we smushed a couple of them, blood came out, similar to when you kill a mosquito. I realized at 11pm the first night and contacted reception immediately. He switched us to a smaller room however, the next day the manager only would refund one night, not the 2 that we booked. A full refund would’ve been the only way to fully remedy the bed bug issue, in my opinion.

Other notes of the property: The second night, the electricity went out when we were showering/changing in the evening 4 times for a few minutes each time. And I’m not sure the “hot springs” are truly from the source, as the water in the first pool would run hot for a few minutes, then cold, and kept switching back and forth. The highlight was seeing a mother sloth with her baby and a toucan on the property trail. The restaurant food was good and generally the service around the property was also good.

*Daily power outages! (You sit in a hot spring and all the lights go off and water stops and this can happen every ten minutes)
*Five cascading “hot springs”, only one hot and it’s small and the water alternates between hot and cold
*hot springs work only since 2pm
*round trip by taxi is $70 to/from La Fortuna (about $15 by uber from the town)
*one way taxi shuttle from SJO airport is $175
*breakfast is served only for two hours 7:30-9:30
*Breakfast has a small selection and you can’t ask for anything extra. For example, the eggs platter comes only with one piece of bacon. Pancakes is a breakfast selection on its own.
*If you book activities through reception they give you higher prices… (highly recommend booking directly with Maquique tours)
*activities recommendation is not the best at reception, they don’t know what’s included in the activity
*Safe box in the rooms doesn’t work, if you wanna keep your belongings safe you have to leave it at the reception (I didn’t)
*theres no phone in the room, you have to use your phone to communicate with reception through WhatsApp
*the pool is shallow
*the walk from glass bungalows to the restaurant is very steep
*theres no stores or pharmacies around so it would be nice to have something in the hotel like a little pharmacy for daily necessities

It was a magical stay for my wife’s 50th birthday. Diego, Carlos , Victor were especially excellent in everything they did for us. The hotel rooms and the grounds were beautiful and well maintained. There almost no need to go anywhere else. The amount of detail they put into all of thier work is superb. They really accommodate your every need. Check in and checkout was a breeze. Had high hopes for this property judging by reviews and photos, however it did not live up to our expectations. Its set up is ok but it all looks quite tired. The pool is not attractive but guess functional for little kids. The thermal baths were definitely not attractive or nice. Tried water of one and was cold. The decor in the bungalow was tired and not much room to walk so very difficult to put down your suitcases. Shower didn't drain properly which was in the end sorted by the staff. At times there was a drain smell outside the bungalow. The restaurant was quite odd in my opinion. Food very average but quite expensive.

I guess this can be compared to a tired Center Parcs (for those who are familiar with that), so probably ok if you have (very) little kids, but for us it wasn't what we wanted.

Loved our stay. The place is kept beautifully, every one is very nice. There is one restaurant on premise, very good food. The big pool is refreshing, the hot springs are very cute. There are several sloths living in the property and the local guide was super helpful to show them to us. It was amazing to see them so close up. We stayed at la Iguana, real immersive experience and waking up in the morning in a quite and beautiful place was really nice. We had 2 kids under 10, and felt so safe. Also front desk was very helpful in providing information on tours and we ended up doing our own route as we had a rented car. We visited the volcano, around 35 to 40 min away. We all really loved our stay!

We had a wonderful time at Hotel Heliconias recently. Me and my two best friends came to celebrate my 50th birthday and we can't say enough good things about this hotel, the staff and the exceptional service. From the moment we arrived we were taken care of by Diego and Alejandro. Check in was seamless, the rooms were clean and well equipped, the breakfast was scrumptious and believe me when I say this was the best breakfast of our entire week in Costa Rica.

The service was impeccable. Alejandro took care of booking all of our excursions and made sure we felt at home. The owner Omar made the effort to welcome us to the hotel and provided fresh coconut water for us at the pool. Diego went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable with our stay.

This hotel is different. It is quiet, peaceful, surrounded by natural beauty and you feel at home. I would definitely come back here next time I am in Costa Rica.

Overall we enjoyed our time at this place. Unfortunately, perhaps due to off season, we did not find several places around the resort closed, for example bar at the pool.

There were construction going on around the resort, which also seemed unsightly.

Cleaning service was not that great. Our room was not cleaned properly and we could find dirt and hair balls in the washroom and around the room. This was disappointing.

Washroom could use some shelves to place our shampoo and stuff, we had place all that on the floor.

Front office staff was very helpful and totally took care of us and for that we are grateful.

Breakfast was included, but it was not that much. But the staff and management was very kind and allow us to orders extra portion and that was greatly appreciated.

All in all, it is a good resort and I am sure that in main tourist season they would be much better in their ambiance and other services.

Thank you for making our stay and memorable one. My family did have a very good time.

This place is pretty special. It is a small, low key resort. My son wanted to stay close to the pool, so we stayed in a standard room. The room wasn't great. The beds were hard, it could use a refresh, the air conditioner was loud, and there was no soundproofing. If we had picked one of the bungalows or treehouses, I likely would have given the place 5 stars. It is a nice alternative away from the hustle and bustle of La Fortuna but still close to lots of attractions.

Overall the property was beautiful and lots of wildlife surrounding. Staff were always pleasant. Breakfast options were decent. Our only two complaints are the beds/pillows and the bugs in our room.Extremely hard and uncomfortable bedding and the large amount of bugs in our treehouse. Not sure if the cleaning crew left the doors open while they cleaned or if they managed to enter through the small openings but our last night in the tree house has several bugs that night.

The owner visited with us and was very friendly. It is a family affair each son works in a different area. The breakfast was included and was very nice. The staff here is great. They are easily accessible and so willing to help with your experience on and off the property. They are very knowledgeable and added to the experience. The kids loved how much nature there was around we stayed in the deluxe bungalow which backed on to nothing out trees and they loved the hammocks. There is a walking trail that’s great for a quick morning hike right on the site. Have the Pinto Gallo for breakfast in the morning!

I heat to say something negative about the guys there because they are nice but so clumsy and neglectful.
3 time we needed a ride in the heavy rain no one respond and their is a voice mail no even identifying the hotel , room condition is bad . Do not lean on the sink you will get heart . every thing looks like it was put on cheaply. mosquito protection is poor! My advice if you need to pay $60 or less you are fine ! If you pay more have been taken for a ride (we paid $240).

Such a relaxing and wonderful stay at Heliconias for our honeymoon. The glass bungalow was quiet and romantic and the staff went above and beyond to make our stay special. They were immediately responsive to all of our questions on WhatsApp and scheduled interesting tours and transportation (night walk and farm tour on the property, chocolate making tour at a neighbouring farm and safari river float were all excellent and worth the cost). On site hot springs were lovely (but only open in the evenings). Truly a great place can’t wait to come back

This is one of the finest experience we had during this Trip.
A must stay for everyone, Cruize like experience with many Hot spring natural tubs ( Private for a family ), nice pools and Trails and indeed a hidden treasure.
Staff is exceptionally welcoming and make you feel safe and welcomed.
our Entire family would like to strongly recommend this property for anyone visiting CR and have plans to include mystic hanging bridges , Arenal volcanos and La Fortuna water falls. Best Location to camp here.

Area around property is good but the property itself is not up to the standards. Toilet stopped working. I stayed with my family and felt like bathrooms were not clean. It was just OK. Breakfast was not great and have very few options. Though they say it is buffet breakfast it is limited to juices, fruites and coffee. Overall not great. Will not come again.

Beautiful grounds of trees, flowers, plants, fruit trees. Very scenic. Rustic. Peaceful. Could upgrade room more , sink low to ground, no safe in room, no microwave.

The Heliconias Nature Inn is contained on a beautiful property. While the accommodations are fancy, they are more than adequate - after all, we were in a tree house! The thing that made our trip was the staff. I got a 24 hour stomach bug and was quite ill - all of the guys checked in and went above and beyond to assist, including bringing crackers and Gatorade, chicken soup, and fresh coconut water, which according to Tavo, helps cure everything! Can't say enough about the staff, location and spaces. Next time, we will likely choose a bungalow - and we do hope for a return visit!

We had a very pleasant 5 night stay in a glass bungalow. It was lovely to wake up in the morning and listen to birds in our hammocks on the porch. We liked the glass bungalows. comfortable beds, spacious bathrooms, basic amenities. The only issue was that we couldn’t operate the fan because the in and off cord was missing. Breakfast in the open air restaurant was good-mostly eggs american style. It would have been nice to also have continental style pastries and cereal. Staff are friendly and responsive. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained.

Heliconias Nature Inn exceeded our expectations in terms of how beautiful the grounds and our glass bungalow were. The breakfast options were filling and tasty. The service at the front desk and the restaurant was always prompt and friendly. If we ever make it back to CR we would be thrilled to stay at this property again.

We loved our stay at Heliconias Nature Inn. The bungalows were clean and had a wall of glass to view the jungle. The grounds were peaceful and well maintained. The restaurant on site was very good and convenient. We would definitely stay here again.

A gem in Costa Rica

This place was amazing!! Highly recommend. We went in the off season, and pretty much had the place to ourselves. The staff is incredibly friendly and the property is beautiful. Not much to do at the resort, but we went for the tranquil setting, so we were not disappointed. Enjoyed mother nature to the fullest. Very private lodgings. Ask for Lizano sauce with your meal!

We just returned from a 2 week stay in Costa Rica. We spent 5 of those nights at Heliconias. Our treehouse was amazing! The breakfast that was included was delicious. It was so relaxing and peaceful there. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Alejandro and Diego helped us with anything and everything we needed. We will definitely return here.

This is about 20-25 min driving distance from La fortuna. Best Location. Very quite and safe. Lot of small restaurants on the way to La Fortuna , Very economical and great food. Easy car parking and great restaurant on the property. You are away from La Fortuna but not that far. You get best of both . Tree house is awesome.

Excellent service. The property is beautiful and peaceful. The bungalow was clean and big enough for two adults.

The complimentary breakfast was delicious!!

There are some outdoor activities that can be done within the facilities.

They don’t have ev chargers yet. :(.

This place was amazing. The individual bungalows were beautifully designed and cozy and the grounds were vast and beautiful, we saw toucans, sloths and macaws. Our family enjoyed the large field where we could play soccer and volleyball. The location is about 1/2 hour from the Arenal volcano and the touristy area so it was perfect. This is a family-owned Lodge and Alejandro was so friendly and informative. We would recommend this to families and anyone not looking for a nightclub scene. We loved our stay at Helconias Nature Lodge and will definitely go back.

Don’t stay here unless you want to be isolated from all of the attractions. You should have a car to get back to LaFortuna to explore restaurants and shops and excursions. And it’s 30 minutes away. The restaurant on-site is marginal at best and the manager, Oscar, is not very responsive. He is the owners son-in-law so doesn’t care much about his customer service. Don’t bother with the on site night hike, the bird watching tour or the hike to the Childrens Rainforest. The guide only has a few months experience and was not very good. We kind of feel ripped off. The only good thing was the treehouse room we stayed in. Very unique experience in the room. If I had to do it again I would have stayed in LaFortuna.

The staff was amazing. They made us feel like family. They were very friendly and accommodating. The Deluxe tree house was amazing. We also stayed in another room but it was not as nice due to the water not getting warm enough all the time. The food was amazing. The property is peaceful and beautiful. We would definitely want to stay there again. We enjoyed it so much!

Very lovely property and unique. Super friendly and nice people running it. Unfortunately they weren’t as prepared as we would have hoped. The heater was never turned on in the warm pool when we wanted to use it and you can forget the TV working.
If you don’t mind simple and rustic, this place is nice. There are many other options closer to town than may have more commercial amenities.

Beautiful property overall, but the workers yell at each other a lot across the property which really disturbs the quiet vibe, and they drive loud vehicles up and down the road a good bit within the property right past the cabins. Laundry came back wet. Rooms a bit stale. But I would give it another chance to see if maybe it was just a bad time.
