The free breakfast was amazing! So many options. The hotel was clean and the rooms were cozy. Only downside was the spa area. Only the salt water pool was available, everything else wasn’t working. But the overall experience was fantastic, we will be back!

A bathtub/shower in the middle of the room almost next to the bed. The outside of the tub had mildew on it. The tub/shower was almost impossible to climb in and out. It was approximately 3 feet high.

Excellent choice to stay in Portugal: Beautiful location, excellent beach, rooms are in excellent condition and all have a spectacular ocean view, staff is professional, warm and helpful, the breakfast was the best "free hotel" breakfast I have ever had, and it's an easy 40 minute drive from Lisbon. Also there are many points of interest and excellent restaurants in the area. We'd stay there again. One thought, the ocean view side wall is entirely glass and the rooms on the second floor are essentially only 10 feet above people walking about... it can seem a little "less than private," at first. We got used to it and realized people really weren't lookin up (but if they did they might see more than you'd want... they could also easily hear you). Even so all in all a fabulous choice!

Clean friendly staff. Our room was the smallest - challenging with lots of luggage and balcony not really enough for 2 people to sit and enjoy beautiful sunsets. Location is great, parking could be challenging during busier times. Breakfast was amazing, beds could be more comfortable, but all in all we would stay again and ask for a bigger room. Pools, cool room, hot tub was not so hot, bathroom could use some tables for storage as it is it was tremendous. Highly recommend and understand why always booked.

Everything is lovely, however the facilities are showing some disrepair and corners are being cut to maintain them. Our faucet was loose innthe bathroom, the flooring in the bathroom was warped as well. No fan made the mirrors unusable due to fogging. The one TV mount was... creative and dangerous (a zip-tie used to replace the articulating mount that had clearly broken, instead of a replacement) All of this is forgivable, given the price, cleanliness, staff quality and overall beauty of the area. Minor issues, easily resolved with some attention to safety and quality.

I was excited to book and check into this hotel given its proximity to the ocean and the area of Portugal it is in. The staff was friendly and helpful and my room had a beautiful view of the ocean. However, I woke up after the first night with red, puffy eyes, a sore and scratchy throat and terrible congestion...a strong allergic reaction to something in the room. I paid for two nights but checked out early the second morning because staying in the room again was not an option health-wise. I informed the front desk person about the situation (she could see I was suffering), asked for the manager's name so I could follow up, and also asked Expedia to follow up with the hotel about refunding the second night. The hotel has been unresponsive to me and Expedia which is very disappointing. Despite the great location, I would not recommend this hotel due to concerns about mold and other allergens in the rooms. Note: my symptoms cleared up in less than two hours after leaving the hotel without any medication. I do not have any known allergies but something in the room triggered a strong response.

Decent, if a bit tired hotel

Hotels is a little tired and needs some time and effort. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Had an evening meal in the restaurant which was very good, with excellent service. Breakfast was very disappointing. The two automatic coffee machines were not working properly and the orange juice was so diluted, it was like drinking slightly flavoured water. Why they have to let themselves down like that, I assume to save a few cents, is beyond me, as it spoilt an otherwise nice stay.

Great value for money

Extra friendly and helpful staff. Beach front location, with great view. Well equipped bar area with books, table games and snooker. Eco friendly standards. Delicious breakfast buffet. Only improvements required are the jacuzzi cleanliness (too much hair), and the flies on breakfast area. Great overall, definitely recommend a stay here.

The hotel was lovely. It was great how environmentally conscious they were with recycling bins in the bathroom. The restaurant doesn't allow bookings after 8:30 pm because they can't guarantee the tables, which rather defeats the purpose of the system, but otherwise, the stay was brilliant. The jacuzzi bath in the room was a treat!

We had an excellent time in the hotel with family. Right at the beach and away from the hussle bussle. Easy access within 20 minutes to decent shopping mall. It could have done better by providing tea / coffee making machine in the room. The staff is very friendly and always smiling. The hotel is kids friendly with a small spa and swimming pool.

Secluded hotel right on the beach

Going to sleep and waking up listening to the ocean was wonderful and relaxing. I really liked the design of this hotel, lobby, restaurant and rooms...bright, modern...and green awarded, one of the few that recycles in the room, sensor lights in the hallways. Our room faced the ocean and you could lay in bed and watch the sun go down. The staff at the front desk and restaurant were friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean and bright. Porto Nova is quite secluded, but the perfect place to relax and unwind...Portugal is so quaint. I had lunch in the restaurant...mussels, Portuguese wine, accompanied with fresh bread, cheese and pâtés. The view was stunning! One of the best I've seen. I would highly recommend this place as a quiet getaway and would return in a heartbeat.

Great Hotel Peaceful & View

We had a great stay at Hotel Promar! It was still early season so it was really quiet and peaceful, secluded a little bit but in a good way! You have what you need at the hotel, a restaurant and a good breakfast, a beautiful beach right at your doorstep and stunning views from the room. Friendly staff, clean and tastefully decorated rooms and comfortable beds. We loved being so close to the beach! Also a bonus, there's a parking lot nearby so if you're adventuring through Portugal by car (as we did), there's easy access free parking, which isn't always easy to come by in Europe. It is advisable to have a car if you're staying at the Hotel, it's nice to have the option to drive into Santa Cruz for dinner variety and shops. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would gladly return sometime!

Amazing, no better to describe it

We had such a fantastic stay at this hotel!
The room was amazing, extremely clean, jetted bath in the room, stunning sunset views over the beach and relaxing purring ocean sound to fall asleep and wake up.
They offer massages at a great price (35-50€). The gym however is a gimmick, about the size of a small double bed room. The room service was nice, polite and absolutely affordable (5€ a burger, 10€ a bottle of bubbly, 4€ cocktails). The beach itself is not that nice, as quite small and the sand is thick (a little painful to walk on).
However, the hotel hires out bikes for €5 per week, so we took a ride to Santa Cruz where they have an amazing beach and lovely restaurants!
There is a bar/pizzeria next door which has a pool table upstairs, so we spend our evening having nice food and playing pool after our beach trip!
Breakfast buffet is good, all the essentials and lots of fresh fruit!
Overall we cannot recommend this hotel better!
I have spread the word among friends and family and everyone now wants to take a trip down to Porto Novo! :)

The Hotel is a bit in the middle of nowhere, so a car is recommended, however as the hotel itself is so great we did not mind it!

Simple but clean with great location

We had a family room, two mamas with our 3 kids. We couldn't have asked for a better scenario. Directly on the beach, you could see even those by the water from the room. There was a play area with slides and a kids house directly on the beach which kept the kids busy all day. There was also a playroom next to the lobby where we could borrow books and toys from. The staff were extremely accommodating. I needed to rotate my bed to have it against two walls so my kid wouldn't fall out. They had to get two staff members to lift it up and they did it right away. We ate the vegetarian meals and they were fabulous. The breakfast was simple but I brought my own superfoods and blender so we didn't partake in it. Overall, it was very convenient for a mama and kids getaway that felt very safe and relaxing. We walked along the river to the closest town and everyone just loves kids in this country. I have taken my 2 yr old to almost 15 countries so we stay in a lot of hotels from 3-5 stars and this place isn't 5 star but it was more convenient than most of the 5 stars.

We booked a last minute stay at the Hotel Promar, and although it was a little hard to find, once we got there we were taken aback by the views and the serenity of the hotel. The service was excellent and the two restaurants had great food. The kids area was great - toys, games, bikes, scooters - the hotel definitely works to ensure that there is something for everyone. Overall, a hidden gem!

The cleanliness of the rooms is outstanding. All rooms have sea view. You can hear the sound of the waves day and night. If you look for a quiet place to relax, this is the perfect hideaway. La chambre supérieure est très confortable et agréable avec la vue sur l'océan, son balcon et son frigo. Nous aurions apprécié une bouilloire avec thé/café. La salle de bain avait un éclairage médiocre, le sèche cheveux fait plus de bruit qu'il ne sèche, une patère tombée avant notre arrivée n'a jamais été refixée. Le support de la pomme de douche était prêt à tomber, une barre de douche réglable serait bien plus adaptée. 4 poubelles dans la salle de bain pour le tri sélectif, c'est beaucoup ! Surtout quand on voit la femme de chambre tout mettre dans une seule ! Les équipements de l'hôtel étaient vétustes et sales. Parasols qui tombent en lambeaux ; jaccuzi extérieur vert, plein de sable ; jaccuzi intérieur avec une mousse suspecte (pas de douche dans l'espace spa, donc chacun y va au retour de plage avec sable et crème solaire...)bref Spa a éviter pour cause d'hygiène. Le bar du billard est sale, les canapés sont abîmés et les carreaux sales. Sur 4 queues de billard, une seule était en état pour jouer...
Il n'y avait jamais personne au bar du rez-de-chaussée, il faut donc tout commander par la réception. Nous avons attendu 45 minutes pour un room service de 2 bières et un sandwich. Le petit déjeuner est copieux et la salle est agréable, il faudrait simplement donner la recette des oeufs brouillés au chef qui sert une omelette coupée à la spatule. Le restaurant est correct mais nous avons préféré l'ambiance du restaurant voisin. Pas de commerce autour il faut faire 10km...

Nossa experiência para um casal foi muito boa, apenas o hotel é distante de tudo, portanto as refeições obrigatóriamente será no restaurante do hotel. Café simples,mas muito bom. O restaurante é muito bom.
Único ponto negativo é que para utilizar as piscinas ou jacuzzi é necessário touca, não diz nada nas informações, a recepção vende, mas acabamos achando caro e não compramos pra usar um único dia. Portanto o local ofece piscina,mas com está condição.

Hotel mediocre, instalaciones descuidadas y en mal estado, olor a comida de la cocina por los pasillos y respiraderos de los baños. Pasillos del hotel oscuros y con olor a humedad. La piscina es como una bañera, es decir, como si no hay. El spa no lo quisimos probar. La habitación es lo único que puede salvarse, es cómoda, con vistas al mar, en primera línea de una playa mediocre. Cualquiera de las que están en la costa son mejores playas.
El hotel es una buena opción si quieres dormir delante del mar a una hora de Lisboa. Desayuno correcto servido en el comedor a pie de playa.
El personal es muy amable.
El hotel no tiene aire acondicionado, pero tampoco ha sido necesario, por las noches refresca bastante.
El hotel no tiene parking, la zona de parking exterior es público con pocas plazas, cuando está completo hay que aparcar en un descampado de tierra.

El hotel tenía todo lo que necesitábamos. Fueron muy atentos, tanto en el hotel como en el restaurante, especialmente la recepcionista María. Un encanto de chica que nos resolvió todas las dudas.

El primer día llegamos muy tarde. Justo acababa de cerrar la cocina y aun así nos dijeron que sin problema nos atendían para que pudiésemos cenar.

l'océan s'invite dans la chambre, génial

Prévu au départ pour 2 nuits nous avons finalement prolongé notre séjour pour ... 8 nuits !
Calme absolu de la localisation, vous voyez l'océan et les couchers de soleil, le bruit des vagues nous berçait la nuit.
Très bonne cuisine, petit déjeuner royal et personnel discret mais très efficace !

Maravilhoso para relaxar

++ Quarto espaçoso e com cama muito confortável. A vista era magnífica.
++ Empregados muito simpáticos e hotel limpo.
++piscina interior e área de spa com a temperatura ideal. A água da piscina interior estava espetacular
++ jaccuzi interior e exterior, preferência pelo o que estava no exterior encontrava-se mais limpo.
++ pequeno almoço bastante completo, com vista espetacular e com um espaçamento horário bastante razoável (3h)
++ restaurante Promar comida muito boa, um pouco caro, podem fazer algumas refeições no café/restaurante da praia ao lado -santa rita
++ praia em frente ao hotel

-- volta e meia ficava um cheiro desagradável no quarto, proveniente da cabine do chuveiro
-- água da piscina exterior gelada, diria pior que o mar.
-- perto do hotel existe muito pouco comércio, cerca de 3/4 restaurantes e nada mais. No entanto, a 10min. de carro chega-se a Santa Cruz onde encontram muito mais comércio e movimento.

O quarto é bastante confortável, a vista sobre o mar fantástica (pena que ficamos num quarto que o restaurante cortava a vista). Havia um cheiro no duche a esgoto, e a janela do quarto não fechava totalmente. Tentei comer algo no bar da piscina mas não havia ninguém a servir, só copos acomunados em cima do balcão. O pequeno-almoço era bom e o pessoal da receção simpático.

Beautiful beachfront hotel with an exquisite balcony overlooking the ocean. I was surprised to see the size of the bathroom: huge! Super friendly staff & a 10 to cleanliness. the spa is spectacular. Fully renovated room with modern eco fridge, safety, and all the necessary gadgets for a comfortable stay. The restaurant across the street is the best in town by far. Excellent breakfast looking at the ocean. Will come back for sure!!

Sehr schöne Lage. Freundliches und hilfsbereites Personal. Zimmer etwas klein. So gut wie kein Schrank. Frühstück für portugiesische Verhältnisse gut. Pool ist sehr kalt und relativ klein, aber der Strand ist ja auch vor der Tür.

Simplesmente maravilhoso

Viajei em casal e foi uma experiência maravilhosa. O hotel e a região tinham muito pouca afluência então estivemos numa espécie de paraíso privado. O spa era perfeito, o quarto limpo e com a banheira de hidromassagem tornou tudo mais especial. Queremos voltar para este pequeno refúgio!

Horrível serviço da hotel.com

Quanto ao hotel tudo correu bem.
O serviço da hotels.com é que foi horrível. Solicitei-vos e paguei um quarto tamanho grande (pedido de minha mulher que saiu de casa pela 1ª vez, após um ano de recuperação de um AVC) e a hotels.com recebeu o valor correspondente e no hotel Promar reservou-nos e pagou o quarto mais pequeno. Absolutamente vergonhoso o vosso serviço. Tenho pdfs para provar o que afirmo, se é que estão interessados, para restituição da diferença de valores já que o mal nos prejudicou bastante. Mas, provavelmente este procedimento vosso é habitual e assim nada farão para recuperar a credibilidade.
