The riad is really nice and muhammed and Younis are very helpful, met us at the end of the road as taxi wont go to the riad due to narrow road and they helped with the luggage. They were very kind and gave us a map and told us about the area and where everything is.
The riad is very clean, breakfast is quite good. The area the riad is a bit secluded and someone like me who has very little sense of direction could end up getting lost.

Abdou and his team were brilliant. Couldn’t help enough, even coming to collect us from the taxi drop off and arranging a late night meal.

Riad was right at the top of the medina and souks, and had air con for 40 degrees in august

Great location to visit the souks and medina, and a great oasis to come back to at the end of the day.

Riad Al Jana is very well located and easy to get to. Although literally next door to the hustle and bustle of the medina, it was an oasis of tranquility.
The staff was lovely and helpful and each day we had a different local treat baked and freshly squeezed orange juice for breakfast :) would definitely recommend staying in there.

this property was ok for a quick night stay but the room was extremely small. Good value for the cost. It was a difficult property to locate within the Medina and we got lost trying to find our way back from dinner and some locals led us on a wild goose chase which left us a bit rattled.

We had a great stay at this riad. It was in the medina near some really nice restaurants; everything was clean; the room was cosy; and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful with all of our requests.
The only thing I would say is that our room didn't have enough space to open our luggage comfortably without tripping over it, and the breakfast was meager in comparison to other riads we stayed at in Morocco. Other than that - a great place to stay! Would definitely stay here again.

The best aspect of this venue is the superb hospitality, friendliness and helpfulness of ALL staff members. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome, comfortable and guided us very well. Though the venue is a little away from the main thoroughfare, all the in-house facilities totally outweighed that factor. 10/10 for the Riad Management!

Getting to the Riad after 11pm was terrifying. Not being used to all the scooters and of course being the end of Eid and everyone was in the streets, we almost told our driver to take us back to the airport.
However, what a wonderful surprise once the door was opened. Beautiful inside with a lovely roof terrace. Staff were amazing, especially the Manager, who was extremely helpful and had our breakfast ready early on our departure so that we would be on time to catch our train. Nothing was too much trouble for him. Thank you for a great stay.

I really enjoyed this riad. I ended up here because the other riad I booked, canceled my paid reservation without an explanation. After speaking with hotels.com, they booked Riad Al Jana for me. I'm so glad they did because this was a better place to stay. The staff was friendly and the hotel was nice, quiet, and clean. This was my first time to marrakesh. Before visiting this city, make sure you have WiFi on your phone because you will get lost. I would also book everything before arriving. Learn about the dirham (Morocco money). Once you get here, people are always trying to figure out how to get money from you.

Would definitely recommend

Had a great stay here - such a quaint riad in the middle of the Medina. The room was clean, a good size and exactly what we needed and the staff were charming and helpful. Breakfast was basic with bread, juice and then something extra that was different each day. It's also quite difficult to find being surrounded by small souks and we got lost a few times! But we had an amazing stay, would definitely recommend.

Overall satisfied. Have to pre-booked taxi at airport/riad so that the transporter will arrange some one to guide from road side as the riad cannot access directly by car. Only breakfast serve a bit late 7.45am. For those booked early excursion, have to take breakfast outside.

Facilities are perfect....you must stay at a Riad when in Marrakesh.

If you arrive by taxi....call the hotel to walk out and get you. The taxi cannot drive all the way in as the hotel is in old quarter. The driver can call too.....Do not deal with anyone other than from the hotel.

Lovely stay.

Made to feel welcome right away with the refreshing mint tea, water and biscuits while checking in. We chose the option of paying the Riad on arrival during the booking process, this option is okay, but be advised that the Riad doesn't accept payment by card as they are not in possession of a card machine. I ended up visiting a cash point a few times to pay by cash. The rooms are comfortable with air con in the bedroom. There seems to have been some confusion with the room description from Hotels.com as our room was to have a spa bath and two bathrooms, but it didn't. I was informed by the staff that none of the rooms have a bath, or two bathrooms. The Riad is well located for most of the sites, some of which are within a 10 to 15 minute walk. The staff were always polite and willing to help. The breakfast is bread, jam, cheese and something different griddled each day, with coffee, tea and fresh orange. My wife suffers a bit from eating bread and the staff swapped her bread for a great big bowl of fruit each day. I'd recommend using their taxi service from the airport as the cost is fairer than hailing a taxi and you'll be met at the drop of by someone from the Riad to walk you the short distance through the covered shopping area.

Great location, clean and quiet riad

We enjoyed our 4 night stay. The location is convenient, close to the main sights. Welcome tea was nice. Breakfast was good, pancakes made fresh each morning. Airport transfer arranged through hotel made everything very easy as they helped us carry our luggage. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Very clean riad with beautiful decor and a terrace atop.

Where to be in the Marrakech Medina

We spent a mere two nights at the Al Janaa in the middle of the Marrakech medina and were very happy to have stayed there, as it is an island of calm in the chaos of the traditional city. The staff were super responsive. The only reason we do not give it all 5s--only a 4 for room comfort--is no fault of the hotel: the rooms are smallish and could benefit from a little more light, but that is not in the nature of the age and architecture of this delightful hotel!

Lovely hotel in a good location

We were the party of 3 adults and had a room for 3. The rooms were clean and it fealt nice, although i would say its close to 2* not 3*. The Riad is very close to all main attractions, but at the same time its very quiet inside. We loved the staff everyone was very attentive to us. Can only say big thanks to all the staff who looked after us.
Would recomend this Riad if you want to experiance the real Marrakesh

GREAT hotel in the Marrakech Medina. Good value

We had a fantastic stay at Riad Al Jana in February 2017. The hotel itself is located amongst the hustle and bustle of the souks near several popular tourist sites including the Marrakech Museum, Ben Youssef Madrasa and the famous Marrakech Medina. There is a woman's spa and men's traditional hammam catering to locals and tourists nearby which I would highly recommend. The hotel staff were attentive and understanding. They ensured that someone was there to answer the door even late at night past 1 AM. The rooms were very clean and had comfortable beds and fantastic showers with hot water. The decor was traditionally moroccan with beautiful wooden doors, stucco carvings and lanterns. The open air courtyard is a fantastic spot to share the excellent mint tea prepared by the staff (highly recommended). Laundry was done by the staff on request and rooms were cleaned regularly by the wonderful maid who ensured that all clothes were folded perfectly.
The riad was an oasis from the surrounding hustle and bustle. If you are arriving from the airport the hotel offers pickup services for a reasonable cost which I would recommend because it saves you time and money from having to haggle prices from taxi drivers. Since the hotel is located within the Medina area, vehicular access is nearly impossible during the day so you will have to hire a rickshaw in addition to the taxi to carry your luggage. The hotel's pickup service includes this service so it's a good value. Fantastic hotel.

Staffs were very kind. When I returned to the hotel after get around Marrakech, I felt very relaxed and cheerfulness because housekeeper always kept my room clean during the stay. Great value with lots to like.

Riads are so subjective, because the very purpose of choosing them is to get a more authentic \"non-hotel\" experience. In my case that experience was outstanding!

The location was excellent for exploring the Medina's back streets, and had relatively easy access to vehicle streets and a taxi stand. It was quite a walk to the main square, and although i would not describe that square as a highlight I admit I was drawn to it like a moth to fire.

The staff were superb and outstanding in every respect. This accounted for the perfect cleanliness, very genuine hospitality, and excellent breakfasts.

We stayed in 5 riads on our trip. This compared extremely favourably.

Overall, not as comfortable as riads twice the price, but excellent value for the money.

This is a fantastic Riad - book it now!

The staff were extremely helpful and really friendly through out the evening with Abdou, the manager and the room maid / cook both really made the trip for my wife an myself.... so a big thank you to you both.

The room was super clean and beautifully prepared for our first night with rose petals on the bed, sink and in the shower with scented candles flickering, also a fresh bowel of fruit and bottled water.
The room was also maintained super clean throughout our stay.

The breakfast included fresh local bread, freshly squeezed orange juice and cooked pancakes or muffins, and really coffee and tea.

The roof garden gave a spectacular view of the old city and the surrounding mountains.

I cannot say enough about how great this riad and the staff were so 5 stars from the both of us.

Our overall stay was great, the room was always clean, quiet and extremely friendly people running it. The riad is well inside the Medina and we were a bit surprised when after booking the airport pickup, the cab driver referred us to a random person to take our luggage to the raid, whose friend later demanded 200Dh for doing this. Quite the steep price if you consider the taxi ride was 170Dh. We manged to lower it to 50Dh but the experience left a bad taste since this was not mentioned to us when booking the airport pickup.

A good way to feel the ambience of the Medina

Short 3 day trip, so I decided to tryout a Riad and this was a very nice one, about 10 minutes walk from the plaza. The staff spoke some English and were helpful when information was needed. The breakfast was a bit on the light side. Would have liked to be offered a more typical Moroccan style breakfast option. Wifi a bit week on the second floor but acceptable. Nice courtyard and other areas for relaxation, to include the rooftop.

Highly recommended in the heart of Marrakesh

Had a lovely time at this hotel. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The facilities are beautiful, comfortable and have a real authentic local feeling to them. Breakfast is made every day and delicious! Wi-fi does not quite reach the upper floors, but this was not a big deal for us. As many other similar places inside the medina, the hotel is a bit secluded and it was necessary to hire a guide to take us to the door. Fortunately the hotel has a shuttle service, so we strongly recommend getting in touch with the staff beforehand so they can arrange for a pick up. The main plaza is about 10 minutes walking in an almost straight line. Would definitely come back again!

A fantastic Riad with excellent service

We stayed here for 2 and a half weeks to get away from the London rain and it was a fantastic choice. There are numerous Riads around but the service here was second to none. As soon as we entered (we landed at midnight) the manager and staff at Riad Al Jana were very hospitable and made us feel at home instantly. They treated us like their own family throughout the stay, catering to our every need and went beyond their call of duty. I want to thank Mohammad, Abdelkarim, Fateha, Hanna and Abdul Wahid deeply for making our stay very joyous.

The location of Riad Al Jana is great, literally 10-20 minutes walk to many of the city attractions, namely the souks, Jama Al Fana Square and Ben Youssef Mosque which is literally around the corner. Its very peaceful at night and overall very clean throughout.

I would recommend Riad Al Jana to anyone visiting Marrakech, you will not regret it!

Welcomed us with mint tea and set us up to help us find our way around the complicated streets of the Medina! abdou was very kind and helpful. We felt very safe. The wifi worked well, shower was great, room was clean, AC worked well. There was a cute, cold pool as well that was refreshing!! Excellent time here

A Riad hidden away in the tiny darbs of Marrakech medina. The manager arranges for a man with a cart to collect you and your luggage from your taxi. You are welcomed with tea and information on how to get around the medina and suggestions on where to eat. The room with ensuite is comfortable, with plenty of blankets which is very welcome in spring time when the sun doesn't get to heat up on thick stone walls

Nice hotel quite close to jemal fenaa square

I am someone who doesn't usually write reviews at hotels which I stay at or restaurants that I may eat at. However I have made an exception for Riad al Jana.

From day one the staff were so welcoming and the even the hotel manager told us a few times to make ourselves at home.

Mohammed (assistant manager) was very helpful as well. He contacted some of the travel agencies around marrakech with which we were travelling with. He also gave us maps of the old city and showed us a custom made map of how to get to jemal fenaa.

Breakfast was baguette, jam, cheese, honey, crepes with tea/coffee and a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice. A traditional Moroccan breakfast which was very filling and lovely. Breakfast times were from 8:30 to 11:00 however on one occasion we had breakfast at 8:15 because we were going on a day trip to eureka valley. The hotel staff were more than willing to accommodate to our needs.

Madrasah bin Yusuf and the museum of marrakech were only a few minutes walk. The souks around the Riad were more reasonably priced compared to the souks near Jemal fenaa.

If I were to visit Marrakech again (hopefully sooner that later), I would consider staying in Riad al Jana.

Brilliant and beautiful hotel

Really gorgeous hotel, stayed in the rouge room, really nice and had a heater in it for when it got cold. Staff were very helpful and friendly! Would recommend booking a airport transfer with the hotel because you will never find it by yourself and it is a very reasonable price. If I went back to Marrakesh would definitely stay in Riad Al Jana!

Nice hotel close to souk and tourist attractions.

Reached hotel without being lost, (followed one of the reviewers instructions to get us dropped by taxi from outisde the airport to riad close to Ben Yousuf museum - 10 minutes walk).
Warm welcome by the staff by offering lemon tea.
Mohammed (carer) spoke good english and gave us a hand written map which was very helpful - have not been lost in souk, until the day we stayed.
Staff were excellent - happy with a smile always - kitchen staff spoke french.
Food - excellent and tasteful.
Room- basic, not much space, choice of ventilation(ceiling fan, aircon, radiator), but adequate.

Friendly family run hotel in the Souk

An oasis from the hustle and bustle outside. Access only on foot for the last few hundred yards. We found we had no small change for the tip for the man who carried our suitcases. The room was charming and every room is different around two courtyards on two floors.

BED BUGS, punaises de lit, CHINCHES

Please avoid to stay in this Riad. I had to check out today 19 of September 2014 due to BED BUGS BITES. The problem is not even that, the problem is that the manager acted like it was not true and kept telling me I have eaten something or have been bitten by mosquitoes, come on! And on top of that, when we decided to check out earlier (two days in advance) because obviously I would not continue to sleep in a bed with bed bugs, the manager wanted to CHARGE me for the nights I was missing of my reservation, insisting that it was imposible to be BED BUGS, beyond ridiculous. After two nights of bites, this morning we finally found a bed bug, caught it on toilet paper and gave to the boy in charge since the manager was never around, and you know what the boy said? \"I don't know what that is\", like IT WAS NOTHING!!!! My boyfriend opened pictures of BED BUGS on his phone and showed them to him in comparison of what we caught, including the comparison of BED BUG BITES and what I have in my hands and arms. They didn't even quarantine the room, that is the scary part. Trust me, Marrakech is full and packed of Riads, find one that first, is not run by disrespectful people, not one that is deep deep in the souks like this one and most important, one that does not have BED BUGS.

Riad amongst the Souks

Traditional Moroccan Riad located within the Marrakech Souks and close to the main square, Jemma El Fna. The rooms are very comfortable and have fans and air conditioning although the one in our room was a bit noisy. We booked two rooms, one double and one twin room. The twin room was a little on the small side but adequate for our needs. The staff were helpful and friendly, especially Mohammed the manager. He drew us a very useful and accurate map which enabled us to find our way around the Souks and Jemma El Fna. He also arranged pick up for 4 of us from Marrakech airport and arrranged for someone to walk us to our RIAD from the taxi drop off point. Would have been very difficult to find otherwise as vehicles can only go so far into the Souks. As we were delayed by the large ques going through immigration at Marrakech Airport we were late in arriving at the Riad. Although the kitchens were closed, Mohammed still managed to serve us up a meal on arrival. The hotel had a quiet and relaxing atmosphere and a very nice court yard to relax in. There was also a roof area with some seating and shade for guests to use.

Our first time in Marrakesh and we found the Riad, luckily, not too difficult. Once you follow any signs to Ben Youssef or the museum it's an easy walk. The staff were very helpful, superb English. Breakfast was delish - pancakes, eggs, fresh bread, jams, freshly squeezed juice,coffee, tea and although you can't get alcohol in most of the restaurants/cafes, the riad had beer/wine which were lovely in the sun on the terrace! We chose to stay here because of the superb reviews on Tripadvisor were so good - and this is true. Also, for a short stay in Marrakesh, you are a walk round the corner from the market stalls but it's quiet enough once inside.

Excellent Service

The management team at Riad Al Jana did an incredible job at accommodating our needs for a very comfortable stay. The breakfast served was delicious and plentiful - a good way to fill up before heading out to explore the busy streets of Marrkaech. The staff were always friendly and provided great moroccan mint tea whenever requested. The hotel felt very safe even though meters away the medina didn't feel so safe.

Everything was good, our room was beautiful, well decorated and clean. We had a heater in the room and it was so useful because in the night the temperature drop to 10 C. The breakfast was OK for the price we paid. We will book it again.

Very nice riad, helpful and friendly staff. Would have been lost without hiring a car to pick us up from the airport. Asked the riad, 17€ for 2 people. The whole medina is chaotic for a first timer, pick up was well worth it. The call to prayer is VERY loud in this riad, but the rooms were comfortable and clean, and the breakfast delicious, would stay again.

Great, authentic riad

The Riad is in the medina so initial concerns are unfounded. But when you enter the Riad, you are transported into a totally different world. The Riad is beautifully decorated and it was a pleasure to stay there. The manager of the Riad was always available to offer advice and offer assistance with any queries. The medina can be a daunting place on your first day, but this initial reaction quickly disappears as the locals are very friendly.

A true medina treasure

From the moment we arrived, Abdou & his staff did everything possible to make our stay comfortable. He speaks very good English (imp.to a weary traveler in an Arabic country) and has vast knowledge of the city. Would definitely stay here again, and recommend the riad to family/friends. Our only (minor) difficulty came during check-out when his credit card machine was not working (an all-too-common problem in Morocco, as we found). This necessitated another trip to an ATM before we left. Bring cash, and plan on exchanging at the airport. Also, while staying in the medina was fun for us, others may claim that it's not for the faint-of-heart. Couldn't ask for a better riad, however.

Great riad with welcoming staff

If you're a budget traveller but still would like to stay at a nice riad, this is the place. We stayed for three nights, and the staff were nice, friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Not all the staff spoke English, but even those who don't always tried very hard to help us some way. It might be a bit difficult to find at first --- it's probably easiest to come from Bab Moussoufa if you're walking. Try to ask older guys at shops for directions (never ask young boys!). Pancakes at breakfast were excellent! Expedia didn't mention if the breakfast was included or not, but it was actually. We didn't know that and missed our first breakfast, so it would have been better if someone had told us at check-in. Overall it's a great riad and would love to stay here again!

Tranquility in the medina

We were very pleased with our stay at Al Jana. The riad was beautiful and very clean and had many spots to relax and get away from the craziness of the souks. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, going out of their way to answer questions, give suggestions, or even make sure we knew the appropriate prices for when we went out into the souks. The wifi was pretty fast and the signal reached our room, though it was a little weaker there. The breakfast was simple but good and the dinners they offer were amazing-definitely the most delicious meals we had in Marrakech! The location is a little hard to find if you're unfamiliar with the city, so book a transfer and you'll be there in no time. We wished we could stay longer!

Great Riad for staying in Medina Area

Perfect for our stay, the comfort and quality of service much better than expected. Location good for starting on our bargaining walk towards the souks. Staff very pleasing.
They should extend breakfast timing till 10am though :)
Don't be worried about the short walk to the Riad through the alleys as after all whole of Medina area is same.

Hotel is very easy to find - and is well located close to the Madrassa. For the price I paid, it is well worth the money - the room was really nice - with a good bathroom. The roof terrace was pretty cool as well. breakfast was the standard morrocan thing, with breads, jams etc, which is fine, but thats all. Overall, I would recommend this highly.

We went to marrakech in the middle of summer. It was really hot. The stsff in riad made our stay really comfortable, nothing is too much for them. Naima and saida cooking was brilliant. Although I must say its a little bit pricey. All in all it was a good shout to stay there.

An oasis of calm in the bustling medina

We had a fantastic stay at Riad Al Jana. The location is just a short walk from Djemaa El Fna and is right by the Ben Youssef Mosque. The room was nicely-decorated, quiet and clean - we even had our own lounge and a bathroom designed in the Tatooine-style. The courtyard is beautifully tiled and fills with sunlight during the day. Also, there is a roof terrace which gets lots of sun and affords a good view of rooftops or the starry sky. We were there in early April and had some really sunny days (and a couple of short, heavy showers). Abdou, the manager, is a nice guy and superbly helpful. He booked us bus tickets to Tiznit and got us a reservation at a hammam. However, I would recommend making sure that you are clear with him about your requests, that you remind him about them, and that you make sure you know what you will be charged. He seemed a bit rushed off his feet when we were there, and he forgot to tell the kitchen that we wished to eat at the Riad one night (the unique and enjoyable result of this was that he took us to a local sandwicherie and ordered us the kefta sandwiches and mint tea that he has himself every night) and he delayed making a restaurant reservation and then couldn't get a table at the one we wanted. Inevitably, a few charges then turned up on the bill that we hadn't discussed (but should have expected) like the cost of the taxi he used to pick up our bus tickets. Having said that, we would happily stay there again and really enjoyed our stay.

A True Moroccan Experience

It is a true experience for a first timers to feel the Moroccan culture first hand living in the old Medina surrounded by the timeless atmosphere. In the beginning we were a bit wary of the location however it was safe and able to appreciate the authenticity of Moroccan living. Mr Abboul, the manager, is very likeable, helpful and full of information.

I had a wonderful visit to Marakech and stay at the Riad Jana. I was warmly welcomed after a long day of travel by nieimbia (sp?) french woman who was so kind when I was feeling stressed and troubled. She was completely accomodating and contacted Abdul w/ whom I spoke over the phone (he speaks english!). and was super duper helpful. The room is beautiful, immaculate, and very comfortable and secure in the heart of old town medina marakech! It takes short time to get your bearings. Abdul offered great tips and was excellent host. Thank you Abdul and your wonderful staff!!

Gorgeous Riad, great staff

This beautiful riad is conveniently located right in the middle of the medina near the Koutoubia Mosque. My room was large, comfortable, clean and beautifully decorated. The riad itself is a gorgeous oasis in the middle of the madness of the souks. The staff of Riad al Jana were very friendly and welcoming and the food was magnificent and abundant. My only slight negative is that it is not easy to find and being in the middle of the medina a taxi will not be able to take you to the door so you will need to find it on foot; I would advise getting one of the pesky 'guides' to show you the way or arranging with the hotel to have someone meet you at the taxi drop off point.

Utrolig venlig og sympatisk ung mand i receptionen (Mohamed), som talte rigtigt godt engelsk. Fine værelser. Dejligt varmt vand i bruseren. OK morgenmad. Placeret super godt i medinaen. Man kan ikke køre helt dertil, men der er sikker bemandet parkering tæt på (ved Arset el Melkak), som koster MAD 50 pr. døgn. Hvis man ellers tør køre i Marrakech! Vi klarede det uden skrammer. Ring til Riad al Jana hvis du ikke kan finde derhen - lad dig ikke forvirre af ivrige marokkanere, der gerne vil vise vej - de vil meget gerne flå dig for penge, og kan se forvirringen i øjnene på den ny-ankomne turist.

Great visit in Marrakech

We stayed in Marrakech for 7 nights and we wanted to live in the middle of the old city “Médina”. Riad Al Jana was right in the middle, close to the market square. The riad was easy to find as well.

We really appreciated the stay, the breakfast was nice and the staff really helpful. Rooms cleaned everyday and the environment of the road was relaxing after a full day negotiating prices in the souk :)
I highly recommend al Jana!

Very nice Riad with hospitable staff. Breakfasts are great and transfer service from and to airport was perfect.

Minor detail is the heating, it could get cold at night. However with enough blankets it will not bother.

New towels would also be nice after each Day.
