My room was disappointing. The en-suite was smelly and the windowless room had no functional ventilation fan. It did not help that the main room window could not be opened. Overhead lighting in the en-suite was hanging loose from the ceiling and the flooring around the (recently?) replaced sink had not been replaced and didn't fit.
The bed was OK but something in the linen caused throat irritation which prevented much sleep and the TV was so pixellated it was useless. Hot drink supplies were fine.

The restaurant was good in the evening but breakfast was chaotic with the staff seemingly having little understanding of the available options and much of the offerings probably cooked the previous day.

All in all, the experience did not accord with the 8.9 rating or the price level charged.

First ever visit to Scotland. Blessed with amazing weather. Staff were friendly, talkative and helpful. The food was great. Port patrrick was calm, a great place to just relax, turn off and rest. Lovely cliff top walks. Would deffinatley return and stay at the harbour house hotel.

Hotel is tired and needs some refurbishment, cracked tiles in entrance. Furniture walls knocked and marked . Bedroom spacious and clean but dated , bed lined poor, beds with sagging mattress. Furniture knocked and worn, newest bathroom but cracked wobbly floor tiles, broken cabinet, rusty towel rail, shower door would not close.

We stayed in Beach view apartment, the rooms were a little bit dated, could do with a wee refurb. Litter was found in bedroom drawers and a dirty pair of ladies underwear was found under one of the single beds(by one of my children) Disgusting.

Clean room, comfortable bed and friendly staff.
We arrived late after a ferry delay. The staff were very accommodating and even advised us on where we could get a late takeaway in Stranraer.
Port Patrick was wonderfully peaceful and relaxing (we visited in late Autumn). We ended up staying until dinnertime rather than leaving straightaway as planned. We enjoyed walking the seafront with our children and dog. An overnight stop that turned into a nice break.

The hotel is decent. It is a little old looking and a touch run down however the staff are lovely and the location is perfect! So actually for what we needed it was great. We weren't sure about breakfast as nobody mentioned anything so we ended up not going for breakfast at all. The bar serve a good selection of drinks and there is music on at the weekend which is a nice touch.

I stayed with my child in a twin room, a lovely window seat on looking the sea to the side, tea and coffee with complimentary biscuits. Beds very comfy, warm and clean room with a large shower bathroom with complimentary hand soap, shower gel and body wash. Modern and clean areas, the door to our room was abit awkward to lock but after a few attempts we managed. The bar and restaurant area downstairs is inviting, staff friendly and helpful. Car parking is on the street or plenty car parks outside along the harbour and car parks in multiple places by the shore front, all easy access, easy walking distance and free.

A little bit of consistency goes a long way!

The location was perfect, Port Patrick is a secret piece of happiness.

The Hotel easy to get too, however no parking on-site but the surrounding area is FREE however its a free for all if you can get close enough if not the harbour carpark is just 2 min walk up the road and again its FREE!

The Family room we were in was very big but the bathroom tiny. The view from the room was amazing. It was clean and all we needed for a 1 night stop over.

The Breakfast was nice, however my partner asked for a pouched egg instead of fried and was told NO! Then the next table asked for Scrambled egg instead of fried and was told YES which angered my partner immensely! (Poached egg was also on the menu).

The cleaner was very friendly the other staff ummmmm

Would we stay again maybe not, their seems to be a few options in the close vicinity but don't let the non-poached eggs put you off for the money its not bad x

This is a hidden gem booked only as a stop over coming back from belfast to go home the next morning and glad i found this place . Staff brilliant they waited 2 hours after check in finished as we ran late, 3 people stayed in group we had a 2 bed apartment whixh had so much space and was really clean, breakfast was amazing the next day and portpatrick is a wonderfully beautiful little village. My only regrets was i didnt get there quicker and couldnt stay longer

Great vaue for money , in fact unbelievable to stay for under £60 , room for two inc breakfast .
We were in room 7 , clean , warm and quirky due to sloped ceilings but that adds to character .
Only blemish is repairs required around bay window but not the end of the world .
Stairs to climb but worth it for a great view .
Fantastic shower with loads of hot water and pressure .
Breakfast was hot, plentiful and tasty with plenty continental choice as well .
Would stay again in a heartbeat .

Visiting southern Scotland, this location and quaint harbor town met our needs. The hotel is fine - well located and perfect for visiting this town and part of Scotland. Our room was large with no issues. Restaurant and service similarly fine with no complaints . Stayed here for two nights with the dog. Had beach view apartment. Apartments are situated next to hotel and have use of a shared garden at the rear. Unfortunately unless creaking neck there is no view of the sea. First off location. Excellent right by the front with benches on front to sit and watch the sea. Lovely and quiet despite being busy. The apartment however was the old adage you get what you pay for. It is in desperate need of a facelift. The furniture is dated and really needs replacing. Same with shower lovely big cubicle but ruined by door being broken so doesn't fully close and the mold. The kitchen although we didn't eat in seemed clean and functional however the bedrooms and living room lacked a decent clean and it showed. There was a lot of dust in things like the light shades, mirrors etc. the picture frame in the bedroom was falling out of the frame. The beds needed replacing however the bedding was decent. Same with chairs in living room. With a little care and attention this place could be lovely though. Breakfast was included in hotel. Nothing outstanding but edible. However the man in there was not very happy when we arrived nearly 2 minutes late for breakfast. (We were stopped and asked about the apartment by someone looking to hire it) However we only paid £236 including the dog so price point probably reflects standard. The major negative however was the mold in the twin room. Completely unacceptable and if had been staying longer would not have done

Sunny weekend in April

Had a great little break here in Portpatrick, helped by sunny weather.
We were in one of the front facing rooms on the top floor. As advertised, the ceiling was low - sloped into the eaves at one side of the bed, so my wife had to duck a little when going to bed, but main part of room was over 6 feet, so fine for this 5'10\" bloke.
This may seem less than ideal, but the sitting area at the front of the room, had fab panoramic views of the whole Portpatrick harbour and beyond, which more than made up for ceiling height. Besides there are also rooms on first floor, which judging from hall height must be at least 10 feet.
Dog friendly hotel, which is another plus.

Anyway... great view, food was also very good. And singer on Saturday sounded good, although I didnt go into main bar area during the set, as would have been too much for doggo 😀.

Stayed one night on road trip around Dumfries and Galloway. Was allocated top floor triple room with fantastic view over the harbour. Room itself was clean and spacious and the bed was comfortable. Only negative was the small en-suite with an incredibly tiny wash hand basin and no rasonable opportunity to hang up towels. Great, plentiful breakfast and friendly and helpful staff.

basic self catering accommodation as we were not in the hotel itself. good service but unable to sort out the issues caused by hotel.com, ie we booked as B&B hotel .com. did not carry this through. beds clean but really poor mattress. needs a revamp and overhaul of beds and furnishing.okay overall for price we paid but would be really disappointed if peak prices were paid. excellent location

The hotel should mention that they have live music on Friday nights. Was on the top floor but could still hear and feel the music. could not sleep between 9pm and midnight. If I had known, I would have book elsewhere as we had to get up early and leave in the morning. People in the room close were so noisy.

4. The mattress was really cheap and thin. Every time I sat on the bed it felt like I was sitting on a brick wall. It wasn't very comfortable to sleep on either.

The check in was excellent the lady at Reception whose name was Jennifer could not do enough for you. She was professional charming polite very helpful.
I did not have any issues but my partner did as in the next statement.
Next morning at breakfast we found that we were not checked in for breakfast even though we confirmed this with Jennifer the staff who were on said we were not and got quite rude about it one whose name was keiran was not happy we had turned up at 9.30. He said we weren't booked in. He stood over my partner in an aggressive behaviour and said YOUR NOT BOOKED IN..RIGHT. He then left and the other staff member offered us a table which was dirty which was pointed out so cleaned it down then took ages to prepare it. We eventually got something to eat. Whilst we were eating my partner overheard Keiran swearing at the other members of staff.
Late on that day my partner confronted him about the way he spoke to him at breakfast and he informed him that he argued with him, he turned round and said your still arguing with him, so we left.
The following morning we came down to breakfast we were shown to our table without any fuss the staff were polite and helpful.
In the evening my partner asked the kitchen staff if they could put his gel packs and freezer blocks in their freezer which they did so.
Upon checking out we handed the key over I went to load the car I left my partner waiting for his freezerpacks, to be told there wasnt any. Worst experience of our lives

Property address is listed on Expedia as Stranraer but is in fact some nearly 7 miles away in Portpatrick a lovely harbour village which I would recommend however location when travelling is key and should be precise for travellers who have a specific location in mind.
Staff were lovely. The room however was the smallest hotel room we have ever occupied in the attic of a 3 story property next door. It did not have a room name or room number on the door and felt like an overspill for when the hotel is over booked. We could only stand fully upright at one side of the bed and not stand/fit comfortably in the shower.

Àll I can say is whoever took the photos for the website is a genius.
The hotel is tired and desperate for a renovation the mattresses were not only cheap and uncomfortable but really worn out old, cheap and uncomfortable. The actual bed frame was also unstable . However, the linen was clean as was the room .
