We booked a premier 2-bedroom apartment. The main room was lovely, bright and great view of the river and the surrounding. The 2nd room and the common seating area had much improvements needed. The areas smell from a lack of sunlight and ventilation. While it is not possible to reconfigure the rooms, the 2nd bedroom and common seating area could benefit from brighter condition and air purifier.

This is an old hotel. But it’s very charming. Not 5* but still good. Staff were all lovely. Breakfast buffet is amazing.
The gym is good. The pool
Is a nice environment but the water was cold. We enjoyed the pool bar a lot with a great view over the river.
It’s a well located hotel and the trips all pick up here.
Room was large and comfortable. Shower was excellent. We’d definitely stay again.

The hotel is connected to the shopping mall so it's really convenient. We really enjoyed the club lounge (staff there is really nice!) and they even provide the airport transfer for free which is a big plus. We didn't expect too much of the hotel but the hotel is much nicer than the photo on their website. We strongly recommend to stay the club room if your budget allowed.

Great location for the hotel at the waterfront and above the Merkada shopping centre. Very friendly and helpful staff. We stayed on the executive floor with all day access to the lounge. They offered a sufficient breakfast in the lounge but had limited choices for a vegetarian diet in the evening. It looked like a great menu for meat eaters though for hors d’oeuvres. Also, happy hour was restricted to wine and beer. Beautiful views from our room and lounge.

Only small complaint might be that the elevators are slow and get busy with shopping mall users, wedding and conference guests, etc - but don't let this small matter deter you from staying here !

The ease of check in was very convenient as we were able to check in before the stipulated time.

In terms of location, you have the convenience of being located on the river front and doorstep of a mall, but also shielded from the noise and hustle and bustle should you not be a shopping fan!

The breakfast buffet had a wide variety of options. The Food and Beverages manager on the evening of Sat 16 Nov 24 was outstanding; He took the time to recommend and explain the local dishes. Jee is also worth mentioning as she went above and beyond in her service.

What a fabulous hotel. We were on the club floor which definitely makes a difference as we had afternoon tea and cocktails included. The club lounge overlooks the water and is magnificent. Room was good but as we had a twin room did not have water views unfortunately. Staff were extremely helpful.

We liked the convenience to the Sarawak Waterfront. Lots of eateries and cafes. We were on the executive floor which includes a light breakfast and High Tea, for us it was more private and quiet with a wonderful view of the Sarawak River.
The staff are all very attentive.
What didn’t I like!
You have a Nespresso coffee machine in the room but you only get four capsules on arrival. If you want some daily you have to pay for them. Never have I been to a hotel that includes a Nespresso machine and you don’t get daily espresso capsules. For me this was disappointing.
The gym needs attention as the aircon doesn’t work well and some of the equipment needs updating.

I had a great stay experience here. A 15min drive from the airport RM38. The hotel is conjoined to the multi level mall/shopping complex complete with food court, supermarket and many shopping opportunities, also an infinity pool. At night I enjoyed the river light show from my room which went for about 20mins Friday & Saturday. Staff were amazing! Spoke fluent English & extremely helpful. Definitely recommend

Large hotel near the promenade and the pedestrian bridge over the river, which makes it extremely convenient for visiting sites on the opposite bank. Near museums, historic sites, boat tours. Adjacent to a shopping mall with a food court. Large, comfortable room. The river view from our room was absolutely stunning! Nice breakfast buffet with occasional live music performances. Highly recommend!

Pros: 1) The hotel is link to Plaza Merdeka Shopping Mall. (Go down the hotel lift it's at G Level or LG Level.) Plaza Merdeka has good food at Level 4, food court inclusive other restaurants. 2) It's a walking distance 3-5 mins to Hana Bridge. 3) You can look for souvenir at the nearby Jln Main Bazaar, also about 4-5 mins walk. It has a whole stretch of shops along that area. 4) Don't forget to purchase Kek Lapis at \"Kek Lapis Mama Su. Shop \" It's well recognize among the locals. 4) India Street is also nearby about 3-4 mins walk. Just behind the hotel. (You can purchase souvenirs at this area.) 5) The hotel using an advance system for the communication between hotel staff and hotel guest.

Cons: 1) The digital button to activate the hotel room \"Do not disturb, Bell, Make up room, was faulty. Unable to resolve by the Maintenance. (So I have to use the manual tagger indicating \"Do not disturb.\"

The Waterfront is a fantastic hotel in a brilliant location. Our room (as many others) had a wonderful view across the river to the golden roofed Sarawak State Assembly building and the Astana Palace and entertained us with a fabulous water fountain and light show every evening. The staff were brilliant, so friendly and helpful. We loved the hotel and Kuching. The only thing we didn’t like was the toilet seat, which was not of a quality to match everything else about the hotel. Overall, we would certainly recommend it.

Nice hotel, BUT...

Very nice hotel with good facilities and good location in the centre of Kuching. However, I paid extra for a club room and while afternoon refreshments were available, there was NO Club breakfast. I found the breakfast was in a VERY crowded dining room in the 4th floor and that spoiled my enjoyment of breakfast!! I think if you pay extra for Club, then you must have your breakfast in peace & quiet on the club floor

Club Floor Might Not Get You Entry Into the Club

Not a bad place, relatively clean and comfortable. Location is great as every place in old Kuching is just a short walk away.

But as usual, it takes one staff to spoil the stay. We booked 2x family rooms on the Club Floor, so that we could use the Club. We got to check in at the Club, and we were told that we could use it, all 6 of us, as long it was open. However, for breakfast on the 4th floor, it would only be for 4, and we'd have to pay for 2. No issues there.

On the 2nd day of the stay, we were told that only up to 4 could use the lounge, and that we would have to pay MYR39 each for the other 2 pax. What?!!! And that is for each entry, i.e., for tea time, and then for \"Happy Hour\" (inverted commas because there's no alcohol served). We just needed to use the lounge to discuss our activities since we weren't in adjoining rooms. Some times we didn't even take a drink. The charge didn't make sense, and I told the staff that was not what we were told at the start. She later came back to say she spoke to the manager and we'd all get 'complimentary' lounge entry for the rest of the stay.

Strange, I thought that's why you pay the extra for the Club Floor to start with.

Actually my review on staff is solely based on ONE staff member, the lady that looks after the pool and sauna for me every single day, she was so good, attentive and always positive.
The rest of the staff needs to have better training. Some staff walk around bare feet, sometimes during quiet times the staff are talking to family loud and friends on their mobile phones disrupting the guests. Really weird, the only noticeable staff member that provided me EXCEPTIONAL service was the lady that looked after the pool and sauna in the mornings.
She was fantastic, deserves a payrise

We stayed for 9 nights at the Waterfront Hotel when visiting family in Kuching. Our room was large, quiet and bright and we enjoyed our river view. The area is very convenient and we strolled around the old town and
ate out in the area. There is a shopping mall attached and the food court is very convenient. Breakfasts at the hotel were quite good. The only slightly annoying situation was the shower which leaked onto the bathroom floor. Installing a rubber strip at the bottom of the door would be a good idea. Otherwise, we would stay again on our next trip.

In the vibrant heart of Kuching

Located in the historic heart of the city which is great (but does comes with city sounds). The view from the pool deck is perfect for iconic pictures, especially for the bonus night fountain show across the river. The pool itself is a little too cold without any sun on it. The highlight of our stay was the customer service. Frankie was like our personal concierge, he granted us a wonderful room upgrade and arranged a rental car for us in the most seamless car hire experience I’ve ever had. The attached shopping mall is great to have right there for anything you need or just a break in the A/C.

Hotel located at Waterfront with bridge to Kuching North. Close to Chinatown and easy access to lots of local food places. Nice walking along the Waterfront and the local shops, like going back in time to earlier days in Singapore.

Ventilation in room not too good. Woke up each morning with smoke smell in room. Aircon can be a bit noisy when turn on high. Had problem with WIFI for the first 2 days, until the hotel provided a dedicated device for the room.

Nice hotel. Clean and very convenient. Will certainly return with other family members for a holiday, and travel out a bit to the surrounding areas and explore the various cultural offerings.

After checking into our room we discovered that the air-con and TV was not fully functioning. Calls made to maintenance who responded quickly however they were unable to adjust the aircon and it was a wintery blast for the whole period we were in the hotel. We had to go down to the pool area just to get away from the wintery blast. Would not recommend this hotel.

Uncontrollable water temperature for the basin and shower. Water was so freaking hot and water pressure was so small, it was a nightmare taking shower. Some furnitures were not in good condition, side table was broken, TV channel not in good reception. One of my favourite hotels before the pandemic. Hopefully the housekeeping n maintenance can do something fast. Front service was all awesome and excellent.
