Lovely stay in the mountains

Beautiful little hotel / farmhouse style. Very historic with lots of thoughtful touches.

The room was exceptionally clean and tidy. Very comfortable bed with premium bedding sheets. Also very quiet so we slept extremely well!

Must go back again.

Once we arrived, difficult to find in the dark, we were greeted with a warm and friendly smile. After booking in we were given a quick tour of the facilities. Our room was very spacious and we had a good night's sleep. Wi fi was good in all areas of the hotel grounds. In the morning we could explore the grounds more thoroughly, the outside swimming pool with lots of relaxing space around it. There were two social rooms complete with comfortable chairs, games and heaters or log fire. One room had an honest bar the other a small kitchenette. Breakfast was a good continental style, with plenty of choice. You could eat in the corridor looking out at the enclosed garden or inside in the quaint dinning room. Evening meals could be ordered before 2pm and picnic lunches could also be ordered. We ate in a local restaurant 5 minutes away, cheap but reasonable quality. A car is essential, however, we used local buses for trips to near by places of interest. One member of staff's husband is a taxi driver and we used him several times.The staff could not be more helpful, always there to give advise and assistance. A wonderful Hotel Rural in a quiet area,fantastic.

Lovely hotel in tranquil location

As the name implies, Rural Hotel Las Calas is a small hotel with just 9 bedrooms in the middle of nowhere. Whether this is a good thing depends on the individual guest!

The rooms are large and comfortable; either in the main building, or among the gardens - which are beautifully tended. The staff were consistently excellent, and the food was homely and pleasant.

With few guests to support more staff, there is no staffed bar, although there are communal areas where you can enjoy sundowners if you buy drinks elsewhere.

Peaceful situation within reach of hiking trails.

Small hotel with lots of character and good facilities. Helpful staff. We stayed in December and whilst it is understandable not to light a fire in the living area it would be nice if guests were asked if they would like the fire to be lit and the comfy room would be more used and sociable. Sharing a table at dinner may not be everyone's taste but we found if a pleasant experience to chat to fellow guests in the evening. We were unable to access the internet.

close to good hiking in a rural setting

I loved much of what this hotel offered. Charming setting, nice people working there, beautiful surrounding hills. Our room was a bit chopped up with a red formica bathroom wall cutting off the beauty and high ceilings of the original old building. Breakfasts were great with tables set in the enclosed Portico. Dinner was not very good with no apparent choice entree. The second night we went in to SanMateo and had a great meal. We hiked right out the back street of the hotel….that was great.

Location on Expedia

This hotel was booked for it's closeness to the airport.! Expedia said it was just less than 11 miles from the Airport. The trouble with this distance was we reckon it was an \"as the crow flies\" distance which was rather misleading. It took nearly an hour for the taxi to drive to the hotel from the Airport and cost many euros.

Great little rural place

It was wonderful for peace and quiet. Everything is either up or down the mountain from there. If you want to hike, it is a great location. The little pool and gardens are so cute. We loved the breakfast! The loft is good for kids or smaller people. The Roses restaurant/bar up the hill is very good. The small town is real life... no tourists. WE LOVED IT! group of 6

Las Calas is truly rural

The staff was very helpful and kind.The rooms were clean and of a interesting decor but very nice.Beautiful
gardens and good but home type cooking.This is not a hotel for people who are looking for nightlife.However if you want the true hiking and anda taste of regular life on Gran Canaria this is a great place to start.I would recommend a car and good driving skills as roads are quite narrow.

great hotel

privately operated hotel. each guest is treated like royalty. secluded location away from mass tourism. quiet. clean. great homemade dinner for a great price. surrounding mountains are beautiful. this was my favorite hotel on Gran Canaria. I will absolutely stay here again on my next visit to Gran Canaria. It is best to rent a car if you are staying here, because the hotel is in a rather secluded area. however that is the charm of this place.

Not what we expected

We expected a relaxing hotel in nice country surroundings, however this hotel was no more than an average B&B with very little to do in the surrounding area. The rooms and gardens were not as pretty as they looked in the photos and the food was basic. Alright for an overnight stay if you are on a walking trip but not for a long holiday.

Scelta diversa dal solito hotel moderno sul mare....struttura molto piccola e con un rapporto molto stretto con lo staff....persone speciali ...cordiali e disponibili...colazione ottima ....l unico neo ma lo sapevamo è la distanza dal mare circa 20m da las palmas e ci vuole l auto per recarsi in paese ...cmq lo consiglio per una vacanza in pieno relax e lontano dal caos....

Sehr schönes Hotel mit wunderschönem Hotelgarten. Einziger Minuspunkt: Der Pool, da ungeheizt, kann im Dezember nur angeschaut werden (und ich bin nicht empfindlich!).
Die MitarbeiterInnen sind jederzeit hilfsbereit und versuchen, die Wünsche der Hotelgäste zu erfüllen.

Kleines Paradies in den Bergen

Nach 10 Tagen in Maspalomas haben wir zur Erkundung des nördlichen Teils der Insel noch 4 Nächte im Rural las Calas verbracht.
Wir hatten ein schönes gemütliches Zimmer, rustikal und typisch eingerichtet, mit allem was man braucht und sauber. Toll war der Garten, eine kleine Oase. Die Köchin hat morgens ein herrliches Frühstück gemacht und das Abendessen, ein 3Gang Menü, wurde morgens bekannt gegeben und wer wollte, konnte dieses leckere Essen dann für abends bestellen. Insgesamt ein super Aufenthalt, bei sehr netten Gastgebern.

zentral gelegener Startort für viele Routen

Casas rural liegt in ca. 1000 m Seehöhe etwas versteckt in einer dörflichen Siedlung westlich von San Mateo , ein hübscher Ort mit allen nötigen Einkauf - und Restaurant-Angeboten .
dorthin gibts auch einen schönen Fußweg , ca. 35 min.
die Räume im Erdgeschoß haben nur winzige Fenster , in der ersten Etage ist's ein wenig besser.
hohe Sträucher direkt am Gebäude und im Garten verschatten auch die schöne FrühstücksTerrasse und das Kaminzimmer .
Pool und Liegebereich bekommen wenig Sonne und deswegen bleibt die ganze Hotel-Anlage sehr kühl .
glücklicherweise funktionieren sowohl Heizung als auch warmes Wasser sehr gut .
im TV sind viele deutsche Sender empfangbar .
Buffet-Angebot morgens und Abendessen sind reichhaltig und ausgewogen.
der gesamte Service ist freundlich , die Sauberkeit ist einwandfrei .
wer aber besonderen Wert legt auf weite Aussicht und helles Ambiente und Sonnenschein, um sich wohlzufühlen , sollte woanders buchen.

Idyllisches kleines Landhotel

Wunderschöner Garten mit Zitrusbäumen und vielen Sitzgelegenheiten. Hübsche, rustikale Zimmer in aufwändig restauriertem alten Landgut. Mit Zentralheizung (sehr angenehm in kühlen Nächten im Winter). Hanglage in einem Weiler deutlich oberhalb San Mateo. Ruhige Atmosphäre. Frühstücksbüffet: gut - leider ohne regionale Käse- und Wurstwaren.

This hotel is located in the mountains of GC. It is an ideal spot to start hiking tours, to do some trips to other places on the island. The hotel is just beautiful - its garden is divided in three parts: a pool part, a part where you sit under trees, a part where they grow some vegetables etc. It is very well oganized, just 10 ten rooms and even if they are all booked, you find a place to rest, to chill out.
Especially, I liked the different terrasses and places to sit and also the fact that the hotel offers a \"salon\" where you can prepare some own food in case you only booked breakfast.
The rooms in this old house are of style: very well renovated, with love for the detail and a lot of non-ikea-furntiture.
The village San Mateo is nice, but not necessesarily one where you constantly want to be - having a car or being willing to use (the excellent) public transportation is recommended to get to other places as well. By car, it takes you max. about 50-60 minutes to go to other little villages, towns or the beach.

Not in the terrible touristic enclaves but near the friendly Canarians, their own villages and nature. When you're looking for such a place and use it as starting point to hiking this hotel Rural is the place to be.

Mysigt litet stölle men usel WiFi!

Problemet med San Mateo är att det inte finns en enda bra restaurang! Då det gäller Hotell Rural les Calas var det största problemet att WiFi fungerade mycket dåligt och endast i anslutning till receptionen - för övrigt var det ett trevligt ställe!

Hotelli oli neljän tähden, jota se ei kyllä mielestämme vastannut. Puutarha ja ulkoalueet olivat tosi viihtyisät ja kauniit, mutta huone ei vastannut odotuksia hintaansa nähden. Vessassa ei ollut ovea ja huoneessa piti pitää kaikki mahdolliset valot päivälläkin.Huoneen \"moderni\" Sisustus ei sopinut hotellin henkeen. Vessassa ei ollut ovea eikä huoneessa pöytää, vain iso sänky.

Byliśmy na wycieczce w górach.Nocleg na jedna noc.Choć do hotelu dotarliśmy po godz 20:00 czekała na nas pyszna kolacja podana do pokoju. Przepiękne miejsce, urządzone w pięknym stylu, mnóstwo gadżetów, w pokoju zachowany piec do chleba,antresola, przepięknie. Parking na terenie. Ogród z drzewami cytrusowymi, basen ale niestety z zimną woda, oszklone patio gdzie można popijać kawkę i relaksowac się. Wspólna kuchnia do przyrządzania kawy herbaty, drobnych posiłków. Rano pyszne śniadanie, kawa,świeży sok z owoców. Polecam serdecznie!!!Urokliwe miejsce!!

Jamais vu un hôtel 4 etoiles comme ça .Ca ne vaut même pas un 2 etoiles.
Le personnel exploité a fond
Fourmis partout dans la chambre même dans le lit
Sur 5 nuits 2 fois poulets et 2 fois du porc pas de légumes uniquement des pommes de terre a l'eau
Les serviettes de bains sont replier sans changer on a fait l'expérience a mettre un petit point sur la serviette et on a retrouvé la même serviette plié
La patronne n'a même pas dit bonjour et au prix qu'on a payé710 euros pour 5 jours et en plus on paye encore la taxe que ailleurs on a pas eu
Qu'elle fait bien attention peut être un jour elle n'aurait plus de client
Même michelin dit que c'est bien ça l'était peut être avant mais maintenant nul archie nul

Mysigt lantligt hotell en dryg halvtimmas bilväg från kusten. Synd att det inte fanns restaurang inom gångavstånd, men flera bra och trevliga ställen i San Marco. idealisk bas för varierande semester, vandringar och utflykter med bil i bergen, resor till olika stränder. Enda minuset på hotellet var kall frukostmatsal (där man även kunde beställa middag, kändes dock inte lockande). Väldigt vänlig och tillmötesgående personal.

Très bonne semaine dans un lieu reposant, perdu dans la montagne loin du tumulte de la côte et de ses barres de béton. Idéal pour marche en montagne et belles balades. Bien situé pour rayonner dans toute l'île avec un véhicule.

un oasis au coeur e l'île

Notre séjour à l'hotel Las Calas à été un vrai régal. Nous avons passé une semaine avec notre bébé dans ce petit oasis au coeur de l'île, profitant des belles montagnes ainsi que de la mer (à 40min en voiture). Nous voulions échapper aux hôtels de tourisme massive, et Las Calas a été l'alternative parfaite. Notre chambre était spacieuse et propre, a coté du salon avec cheminée et d'un coin cuisine qui nous a bien dépanné pour chauffer les affaires du bébé, les différents coins du jardin avec ses orangers plus que agréable, et le service est un délice. TRES RECOMMENDE. On y reviendra sans doute!

Koselig og lite sommerhotell

Vi var her i desember og rommene var veldig kalde (17°C). I tillegg skrur de av varmen på dagtid og om natten, noe som gjør det litt vel kaldt på badet om morgenen. Bortsett fra temperaturen på rommene er dette et meget koselig hotell som nok er veldig bra i februar til oktober. Enkel frokost og enkel men god middag. Det er mange fine turstier i området som man kan nå dersom man har bil. De har parkering inne på området. Innkjøringen kan være litt vanskelig å finne og du må ringe på porten for å komme deg inn første gangen. På nøkkelen er det fjernkontroll for åpning av porten mens man er gjest der.

Fantastisch gelegen in de bergen.

Gelegen op 1000 meter hoogte, waardoor een stuk koeler. De sfeer wat het hotel uitstraalt is rust, met veel groen waaronder veel fruitbomen. Daarbij komt de kleinschaligheid (9 kamers) wat het verblijf zeer plezierig maakt. Het personeel is zeer behulpzaam en vriendelijk (ook in het engels). De kamers zijn ruim en comfortabel. Voor ons was het de eerste ervaring met dit hotel, maar zeker niet de laatste, top.

Hotel Rural las Calas на Гран Канарии

Отель очень понравился.Провели там 2 ночи.Кроме нас,там из постояльцев не было никого.Поэтому все в отеле было только для нас.В отеле имеется сад, в котором можно собирать любые ягоды и фрукты,которые растут в нем.Есть бассейн и много всяких мест по саду, где можно приятно посидеть и позагорать или просто отдохнуть, выпить чая.Обслуживание в отеле отличное,номер чистый, но правда немного влажно внутри номера, поэтому было ночью немного прохладно. Сходили пешком туда и обратно в соседний городок - Сан Матео,поднимались в горы и любовались оттуда окрестностями.В отеле есть 3 небольшие собачки, которые не дают вам скучать.Советуем всем,кому интересен отдых на природе, в очень спокойной и тихой атмосфере.

Hotel Acogedor y Romántico, repetiremos

En líneas generales, el hotel es bastante íntimo, tranquilo y acogedor. Está bien comunicado como para poder ir a comer y/o cenar al pueblo, pero alejado del ruido. La chica del servicio es muy amable y atenta. El desayuno, aunque poco variado, estaba muy bueno y completo. Lo único fue la cama de la habitación, que no era muy cómoda, y algunas zonas comunes que estaban bastante descuidadas, así como los cojines de los sillones de exterior que estaban llenos de manchas. Al margen de todo esto, nosotras repetiremos.
