Excellent location in the rainforest so close to lots of activities that I think we didn't go more than 3km from the room for the first few days. Surprisingly good food - Aussie share platter & spicy chicken burger were tops.
Friendly staff, great pool & aircon! The rainforest climate is harsh on all that timber though - boardwalks & walls in the resort need some upkeep. Will stay there again.

Mostly happy except a couple of annoying things. The room and restaurant quite nice. Staff friendly except a little annoyed when I asked for extra wifi. You get 200MB which I thought was per day and had a hard time getting another 200MB for 2nd day which coincidentally was on a separate booking. We probably used our 200MB watching a short news video ironically because no TV in the room despite the room pic and room description saying there was a TV. So no TV was the 2nd annoying issue. We actually cut our trip short preferring to stay south of the Daintree. But the hotel is mostly nice and would get higher score if the could fix the wifi and TV issues.

The property is a little run down but it is excellent value and a lovely ppace to stay in the rainforest. The dinner platter featuring kangaroo, crocodile and barramundi was delicious. Friendly staff, nice pool and close ro Cape Trib attractions. Our second stay here.

The facilities are a bit tired, but ok. The so-called \"breakfast buffet\" has little to offer, and what runs out is not necessarily replenished- eg no yoghurt once the first load is used up. I had toast with butter 3 days in a row. One day even cutlery was missing. The best: Staff on the floor are friendly and helpful. But the overall organisation seems lacking, as seems the will to spend any money on the business. The worst: we got overcharged by $520, and it took hours of emails and ph calls to get our money back. We got the refund about 24hrs before the deadline we had set for going to the small claims court. We were told on 3 occasions that the money was on the way, on 2 occasions were even given what on the surface appeared to be a genuine proof of payment, only to find out later that the money had not been transferred at all. Whatever relaxation benefit our stay in the lovely surrounds of Cape Tribulation had given us evaporated quickly in the aftermath of our stay. The overall feel was that of a dying business- we would not go there again.

This property is about as unique as it gets. It was beautiful, lush and has a tranquil and inviting freshwater pool. Fantastic and well priced options at the restaurant - the Utopia Australian platter for $50 was more than enough to feed three people - the best value quality restaurant we’ve come across in Queensland - the crocodile skewers with lemon myrtle, rib eye, kangaroo steak with pomegranate jus, calamari were all delicious and perfectly cooked. Our family loved the loft lodges which are in a private setting nestled within the rainforest - clean rooms, good towels, bed a little too firm for my liking but fine. There isn’t any phone coverage or internet in this remote area but you can purchase a wifi card and log in to wifi on your device at the restaurant. Important to note there are no TVs in the rooms. As this property is set within the Daintree there is an abundance of plants and trees, and wildlife. If you like remote and unique destinations, close to rainforest waterholes and jump off point to outer reef snorkeling trips, you’ll enjoy this one.

Wonderful property, great location, about 5 min walk to the beach or less (but no stinger nets so you can't swim there anyway). We ate at the restaurant which was great (barramundi, croc spring rolls and salt and pepper squid) we ate the same meals two nights in a row because they were so good. Great Melbourne-style coffee nearby at the Turtle Rock Cafe.

First impressions of this eco accommodation had me a little hesitant and disappointed – & I didn’t think I’d stay more than 1 night. To check in we found the place abandoned. We had to walk down to the second driveway where the restaurant is located & found a young lady who checked us in.

It is rustic & a little dilapidated in spots. The place was probably magnificent in its heyday and still has so much potential. The edges of our veranda were succumbing to a bit of rot and the door to our bathroom has seen much better days too – it was flaking paint & literally falling apart. The lighting is so dim, it hardly makes a difference.

I understand it must be incredibly difficult to keep up with maintenance in this tropical climate but there’s no excuse for some things eg. the sink plug was mouldy & should have been replaced & the cabin had a musty smell, which we rectified with some tea tree oil.

Now for the positives – & there are so many!

Our beautiful loft was bright and sunny during the day, extremely clean & the huge bed is very comfortable. We slept so well. The shower is great. There’s ceiling fans & an air conditioner if you need some cool – however there is no television or hairdryer, which was not an issue & keeps in with the whole ecology movement.
The grounds of the lodge have spectacular vegetation. The pool is great & so is the restaurant. The breakfast at $10 for cereal & toast is too expensive when you can get better down the road.

Very basic but had what we needed. The room was one of four in a building with a lovely wrap around verandah, surrounded by rainforest. However any movement in the other rooms, opening of a sliding door or walking on the verandah could be quite well heard and/or felt, but would be fine with quiet neighbours. Location was great. A little bit of a walk from the car park to the room, but fine if not carting too much luggage. Overall, a lovely rainforest feel to the place as a whole, good location and good budget pick.

This property was in a fantastic location. The rooms themselves need maintenance. Our bed was very hard which did make sleeping difficult. The room was very clean though. Staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant area is amazing and food is good as well. I would stay again if we had a different bed.The price is very reasonable. There is also not any cell phone coverage and you need to buy wifi.

Bad: Drainage can be improved as all sinks and toilets seem to flow through one pipe which tends to overflow and wet the toilet floor. Could smell some urinal smell if not flush to clear from the pipe.

The resort is very tired. It needs some work done to it. The lighting inside the rooms is very dull and it's hard to read or do makeup or even play cards. Our sheets had holes in them and you had to walk a long way with your luggage to reach your cabin. They have tea and coffee and a kettle in the room but no microwave. The shower had no grout from waist height down or if it did all you saw was mould. The pillows also need replacing. There were curtains missing from a window so anyone walking past looked straight 8n and no screens on windows.. *this is in a rainforest) go figure!

The room are spacious and very clean ( bar the shower) although 5he ladder to upstairs beds is very steep. The restaurant was nice and the food delicious. .
For the price I would expect a lot more. Would not spend that much money on a place like that.

My wife and I visited Cape Tribulation in February and stayed 2 nights at Ferntree Rainforest Lodge. We enjoyed our stay as the room was clean and comfortable. The room had a big bed, sitting area, fridge and bathroom and a second sleeping area with 2 beds upstairs, we didn’t need it but it was interesting.

The hotel also has a restaurant which was pretty good. One night we tried the crocodile skewers with a side of chips/fries and the next night we had the seafood platter, we were unable to finish it, it was a lot of food.

Overall we had a good experience.

Where this lodge is situated is so beautiful it is a shame that the place is so run down. The room was old (which is not a problem) however it did not feel clean. The soap holder in the shower was broken and the door didn't close properly.The outside chairs were all torn. There are no internet facilities.The lounge area needed a good clean.
Nowhere on there site does it mention that there is very limited internet access - important to know these days. This place has so much potential - but really needs some work.

Wasn't pleased at all for the expensive price tag I paid. Dead flies under my pillow on arrival, the room was roaching as I entered. It was cooler outside. Although I followed the instructions on the wall for the shower, I couldn't shower for two days. Scalding hot or freezing cold to the point it was uncomfortable. I love a cold shower but this was ridiculous. Rusty fridge barely kept my cold items cools. Two single beds pushed together so I big line down the middle Air con worked well but that was it. Had to wash the few cutlery items that were there. Staff were lovely and the rainforest feel was gorgeous but i really wish i had stayed elsewhere

I stayed one night at this accommodation. I arrived late and the staff were wonderful at sorting out my room for me. The kitchen staff cook amazing food and the accommodation is wonderful. The pool is also lovely to go for a swim in. Very clean and very nice. Would definitely go here again.

Cape Tribulation is amazing, but this lodge is not special at all. I wouldn't go back to it. It is in the middle of the rainforest, but it doesn't have mosquito nets, which is awful because the beautiful thing there is to fall asleep listening to the jungle. It has AC, which is totally anti-ecological in a place like the Daintree Forest, and unnecessary because it is not so hot. At least the bed was very comfy and the shower clean. I guess is good if you are a city person and afraid of nature, but if you want to melt with nature you should find a different lodge. The best thing about it were the bats, there are colonies of bats living in the Ferntree lodge and I really enjoyed to see them at sunset and sunrise.

Lacking Love.

This property has huge potential. Great location with a beautiful pool. Light fixtures need updating to the new LED type as rooms and dinning areas were very poorly lit. Has all the facilities you would hope for in a remote rainforest retreat and with some updating would be very appealing but right now it really lacks love.

Lovely staff, lovely location that's well and truly in the rainforest like the whole of Cape Tribulation. The room (stand-alone cabin) was very \"tired\" looking with a noisy fan/air-condition, no net/screen for the insects, no TV and no phone signal (leaving us very little to do on such a rainy week).

Overall, I still think it was OK value for money for such a lovely location that it is, but don't expect a luxurious stay.

We were really disappointed- the lack of cleanliness was gross - apart from the fact that we'd already paid and it was 2hrs drive home was the only reason we didn't leave. The fridge had black mould all over the seals, the air con was covered in thick dust - we turned it on only to find black mould inside as well with the accompanying gross smell, mould all through the bathroom, beds hard as a rock, the outside appearance and grounds looked well maintained and what you'd expect in a rainforest but facilities and amenities very poor - breakfast and food quality was bad but thankfully the pub was close with nice food there!

Nicely located in a beautiful rain forest setting.

This is a nice place in middle of the rain forest. The little restaurant that forms part of the facility is lovely. The pool is nicely embedded in the tropical rain forest. We had a Loft, Garden Area place with a king bed for adults and two single beds for the children. This is where we had an issue. The layout of the Loft is not suitable for children under the age of at least 4 years. The two single beds are in the loft and to get there the kids had to climb a ladder, not a staircase. This was challenging and dangerous, especially if they need to go to the bathroom at night. We could not take the risk and let them sleep in their beds in the loft and they ended up sleeping downstairs in our king bed.
Also the rooms and decor was quite dated and would need a refresh, especially the quite noisy air conditioner and sealing fans. Compared to other places with similar facilities the price was on the higher side. While I liked the location of the place and its surroundings in the rain forest it is unlikely I would stay there again due to the loft layout that I do not consider suitable for children. If the king bed would be in the loft and the single beds downstairs then the main issue I have would be resolved.

Within the rainforest

This is an excellent location. Within walking distance to beaches, be aware that you are in tropical Australia and so crocodiles and stringers. The wet tropics rainforest is all around you.

Bathrooms need a major clean to get rid of mould and dirt
Needs a major paint touch up
Few more power points in room would be good
Clean the bat faeces off the paths early in the morning so you don't have to walk through it on way to breakfast
Shower needs improving as hot water stops about every three minutes but you are warned of this.
It's not close to much you have to drive.

A bit tired but still comfortable for the price. Restaurant food was above expectation. Don't forget there is no mobile access (or limited), no wifi unless you pay and are near the office. No TV, who cares. Parking a bit limited, avoid the bat poo. But everything else was great.

Was disappointed in the Ferntree we arrived and from car park to room exterior the resort is run down the staff where OK and where working with what they have.
It reminded me of my trips through Africa and the accommodation there in the unknown places didn’t expect it in OZ

Rooms inside where OK beds like cement but some people like them that way
Fixtures are from the 70s
Restraint we have a police if we stay somewhere we eat there well not hear we tried the first night
And 4 times until we got something they had run out of wine even letters
The cape itself a exhalent destination and will go again

Rather over-priced
The cabin had a number of broken items, lights, shower door etc. It smelt very mouldy, and the bed had a plastic cover on the mattress and no mattress protector over this, so the bed became hot and sweaty during the night!
The restaurant food was expensive and disappointing.
I guess that accom in the Daintree is always booked out so they don't have to worry!
The staff were lovely - mostly backpackers on holidays

Not the best accommodation but ok for price. The building is dating and not super clean however my daughter really loves the pool. Staff in the front desk were tired and stress but tried their best considering what they had to deal with. The showers was the worst part of the stay. Hot water was either boiling or ice cold. None of the tours were available as it was all booked out. I would suggest being super organise and booking everything in advance.

Loft cabin cleanliness and upkeep were below average. Mould riddled the grout in the shower, spider webs with live spiders in reachable corners of the room and the linen you slept in was musky/mouldy-smelling.

Lots of rotten wooden areas inside and out of the cabin which made it look and feel dirty but also contemplated whether the steps were 'safe'???

Lighting inside the loft cabin was poor. Only tea and coffee facilities which made it difficult for families to prepare snacks for kids or cheap meals to have at home. SCANT crockery and cutlery - not enough for 2 adults even!!

The venue is not very family friendly for today's society. No TV/DVD machine/wifi was down??? Great adult retreat but not family friendly. Breakfast was good -- thank God!!

In the heart of Cape Tribulation

Surrounded by pure nature, the resort provides comfortable accommodation in a basics style.
The restaurant is a beautiful building but unfortunately the food wasn't very good. We enjoyed the lovely pool. Both entrances looked rather spuky than inviting and may need a bit work. We stayed in the Garden Loft Room which had a lovely feel and everything we needed.

Tasteful cabins but too close to each other.

Managers were not welcoming, but were helpful when asked. No one except young backpacker workers would talk to you. The cabins were nice, but needed some plumbing and other repairs. The shower was just adequate but water would not drain away. Too many outside lights on at night were a problem as there were no curtains in the loft. Restaraunt food was average.
A quiet place but needed managers who were more people friendly.

This place is in a great location with the rainforest right at your door, as well as all the Cape Tribulation attractions. The staff are friendly and helpful. The lodge and the rooms are certainly a bit dated and in need of a refurb, would have preferred fly screens to an old loud air con. The pool area is great for the kids, was thankful for the fact that there is no wifi or phone service, you really are in the rain forest!

A great place to relax

So many people seem to make only a day trip to the Daintree, and yet it's one of the most magical places in our vast country! In particular, Cape Tribulation is beautiful, pristine and relaxed and is a place to spend time, not rush in and out. Ferntree Rainforest Lodge is a wonderful place to stay - we've stayed there three times and each time choose to stay longer than the previous time! If you're after day spas and silver service this resort is not for you. But if you want clean comfortable cabins or hotel rooms, relaxed surroundings, good facilities and a very pleasant and reliable restaurant - and a place to simply enjoy the natural environment - then this is a wonderful choice. The staff are very helpful and will organise activities for you - don't miss the night walk, \"Jungle Surfing\" and the reef trip from Cape Trib itself (very different to the reef trips from Cairns or Port Douglas). In particular I recommend the Loft Cabins - very roomy, the kids love the loft and there is nothing better than sitting on the deck (each has its own) especially at night. We have 4 children who, over the years we've been visiting, have ranged from toddlers to age 25, and all look forward to returning each time. There's no mobile phone reception and paid WIFI only works in a limited area of the resort (but you can sit in the lounge and use it if you need to) so the family can remember how to read, talk, play games and explore!

Okay if you don't mind nature in the room with you.

The hotel is a little dated and in need of repairs/refurbishing. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I realize this is a hotel in a natural area but there were many ants (the biting kind) in the bathroom and a lizard on the wall at night. Just be advised its more \"camping style\" than hotel. Also, there is no free wifi and only available in the lobby. This is reflected on their website and they said they have asked Hotel.com to correct this several times.

Fantastic rainforest lodgings

Fantastic retreat. The cabins are fairly basic but this is the rainforest and geccos and ants are all part of it! The beds were comfortable and the surroundings just divine. The pool area was gorgeous and the restaurant good - breakfast was lovely in the sunshine by the pool and surrounded by the rainforest gardens. There is a communal area with kitchen, games area and TV area and a second pool area. Management were lovely. I'd love to return one day : )

Fantastic rainforrest setting

Fantastic setting, in the middle of the rainforrest. Friendly and helpful staff. Good for all activities with pick ups from hotel. Great pools. Food good but no lunch available in the hotel. We were in a family room with loft. As family of 5 we had an extra camp bed, which wasn't comfortable but the king sized bed was big enough for 3!

Lovely location, great friendly staff

We stayed 4nights in Garden Loft Room. Lovely location, fantastic restaurant ( the best meals had all holiday), rooms could do with a little fix up. Our main ceiling fan rattled and the toilet was leaking. All in all we had a great stay with the beach within walking distance and pretty central to Cape Trib and Masons swimming hole. We will stay again.
