Fantastic place to stay in the heart of the Daintree. Very close to all activities - ice-cream place, wildlife centre, Thorton and Cape Tribulation beaches and the numerous boardwalks. We were lucky enough to see two cassowaries, and a dusky-rat kangaroo. If you are eating there at night, we highly recommend the wild caught Barramundi. ( I loved it so much I had it 3 nights in a row.) It is superb. Thanks to owner Liv and her team for making us feel so welcome at her lovely place to escape the rat race and go off grid and find yourself. Highly recommended.

Stop your Daintree hotel search, just book DWL - you won't regret it!

It is a lovely boutique, micro-resort perfectly situated in the Daintree.

Cabins/rooms are a stunning oasis. Serene and relaxing (though the critters can be loud at night). There are only eight cabins in total, so the property is always quiet, with very little human traffic roaming about.

Staff are fantastic. Sasha seems to run a one-man show with support from a few others in the background. He offered many suggestions for sightseeing and kindly arranged all of my meals. Merci Sasha - bon travail!

The tiny whirlpool is perfect for a cool down from the heat and extreme humidity.

Food was excellent and great value. They accommodated my vegetarian needs well and a great selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

Formidable StarLink WiFi in the restaurant/lounge area. Mobile reception is very poor, but present in some pockets of the property.

Convenient on-site parking.

Did not see the hotel Cassowary this visit, maybe next time!

This is a magical property. The cabins are super cute and the bathroom shower was wonderful. The Daintree Rainforest literally surrounds you. The staff was exceptional and did an amazing job. Your ability to see a Cassowary goes up exponentially staying here and doing their nature walk. We saw one on the walk and one that literally walked onto the property near our cabin!

A great splurge

Jason and Lee were very welcoming. We felt right at home. It is a very secluded location with every guest having privacy. There are only 7 rooms and each one has a shower with floor to ceiling glass so you feel like you are showering in the rain forest. They provide a great breakfast and also offer dinner. We had 2 of our dinners there and they were very good.

If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle then this is the place for you. It's very peaceful, the only noise you'll hear is the animals of the forest
Rooms are lovely and comfortable.

Hidden gem in the Daintree, individual cabins immersed in the rainforest. Onsite restaurant serving surprisingly good grub given the remote location! Rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean. Fabulous base from which to explore the Daintree. Great Barrier Reef easily accessible from nearby Cape Tribulation.

Nice location that is quiet. Beware that there is no wifi in your room or cable. They have dvd players but the movies they have are old. Some maintenance does need to be completed on the room and some extra cleaning in certain areas that collect dust.

Staying in a cabin in a rainforest is always going to be unique. The cabin was well equipped and spacious. The dining system worked well and our hostess was knowledgeable and helpful. We particularly liked the walk available around the property which was marked out by pink ribbons.

Secluded rainforest accommodation in need of reno

We recently spent a night at the Daintree Wilderness Lodge as part of our honeymoon. The location was gorgeous being within the Daintree rainforest, however this also meant it was quite isolated. Despite there being a restaurant onsite with limited menu selections, other dining options were about a 26 minute drive away.
Unfortunately the cabins were in need of a refresh, as they felt quite old and rundown. The cabins had an old and small tv, an aircon which wasn’t adjustable, and the rooms had an overall dark and damp feeling to it.
All staff were really lovely and friendly.
A nice place to stay if you’re after a remote stay in the rainforest, however we didn’t feel it was a good value for money given the high price and condition of the accommodation.

I felt that you don't get value for money!!!
Spa a non event with lack of time availability and no where to sit comfortably around the area and to order anything eg drink from the bar you have to go to reception to ring for service and feel like you are interrupting
no blow-dryer in the room as mentioned in ammenties which was annoying discovering this on the day of checkout when i wanted to ne better presented for the Airport.
I generally felt the whole stay lacked a nice welcoming vibe

The Lodge exceeded our expectation. The individual lodges were very well appointed and tucked away in the forest. When we arrived the staff were very helpful, as they were throughout our four day stay. The meals were varied and imaginative ... well done chef! Diwan is centrally located in the Daintree so the Lodge is a good spot from which to explore. We loved it.

The location surrounded by rainforest is excellent with lots of birds around. Staff were pleasant.
I stayed here years ago when it had been recently built and it was gorgeous. However it's a bit run down now. The airconditioner was on a 2 hour time limit but there was no point even turning it on as it barely worked and the little bit of air coming out was warm. We tried to open some windows instead and a couple nearly fell out of their frames so we couldn't open and close regularly. The room was so hot (even overnight when ambient temperature cooled down a bit and even with the fan going all night on the highest (noisy) speed) that it was really uncomfortable. Also the advertised free WiFi was not available. We were told this was because \"the phone lines are down\" but we asked other businesses in the area and they said that wasn't the case.
We asked for help with the aircon on the first night but the staff member on duty didn't know how to use it. We also mentioned these problems to the manager when we were leaving and she said she thought the windows had been fixed and didn't seem to understand the problem with the airconditioning.
It was still a nice place to stay but does need some maintenance.

You really feel like part of the forest as you experience the sights, sounds from the comfort of your cabin. Watching bandicoots forest, hearing birds, bats and insects living the forest life. This hotel was value for money considering the location. Gil was very friendly and accommodating. If you don’t expect too much of the zoo you won’t be disappointed. I wouldn’t recommend entering if it wasn’t half the normal rate. Crocs were cool.

Some of the best food on our 12 day trip across Australia. The owners and family provided excellent suggestions for excursions in the rainforest.

A great boutique “treehoue” hotel. Very unique!

Wow! We loved this place. What a unique experience. Almost like staying in your own treehouse in the middle of the rain forest. Jennifer and David were outstanding hosts and extremely helpful in finding and reserving amazing activities to do in the area. The hotel is VERY clean and the food was excellent. It sits back from the main road, so you are very much in the rainforest getting the full experience. As an added bonus, we woke up one morning to see a rare / endangered Southern Cassowary right next to the cabin.

Loved our little bungalow. The only problem was the hot/cold water in the shower, but since we were in the middle of the rainforest, it was understandable.
Jennifer and Dave were wonderful and the meals were very good. We would definitely stay there if we went there again and recommend them to others.

Perfect getaway

We loved the rooms with skylights to give you a view of the canopy, the privacy, quiet and darkness at night. We had two marvelous breakfasts and dinners with great food and service. Jennifer booked us a reef tour which we enjoyed very much, introduced us to the local cassowary chick and was friendly, welcoming and helpful throughout. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Something a bit different!

We found this lodge very welcoming, seems to be run by a husband and wife team. You need to remember it is an eco friendly lodge in an isolated rainforest area, not on mains power and phone internet reception is poor but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. You are in a cabin in the rainforest; we had lovely rain on our roof to fall asleep to. The food was also very good (organic etc as well) and better than most other options in the local area. Jennifer highlighted local attractions on a map for us and was very accommodating and helpful. Lovely people doing a great job in the bush.

What a great property. You stay in an individual room, with your own elevated rainforest walkway. It's very peaceful and we got a great storm to really entertain us the night we were there (though I'm guessing they can't advertise that everyone will be that lucky!)
Recently taken over by new management that is adding more services (e.g., dinners), and I'm sure they'll do great.

We stayed 5 nights. It was a unique and wonderful experience of living \"in\" the rainforest. The Lodge was very comfortable with everything we needed and the staff was friendly and did all they could to make our Daintree experience very memorable. Limited internet, but hey, you can't even use smoke signals in the rainforest. Would definitely recommend.

A Quiet Night Away

We decided that since we have just moved back to Sunny Cairns that we wanted to have a night away to enjoy what we have at out back door.
We were lucky that that weekend we had the whole resort to ourselves it was great, the place is so quiet and you are right smack in the middle of the rainforest. To get to and from your rooms you walk along a wooden walk way - this is elevated off the ground, while walking on the walkway you are guaranteed to see the resident cassowary's walking along the ground below you, that in itself is an experience.
There are 7 Lodge Cottages and they are all spread out across the resort so privacy is what you get, I do recommend to ask for cottages in the high numbers 4,5,6,7 as the first two cottages are set at the front of the property.
The rooms a lovely, spacious and very cool. The ceiling has a clear panel that runs across the length of the room, its great to look up from you bed and see the rainforest above you. The shower was impressive too as it was tall and had great pressure and was hot.

Breakfast was great, everything made fresh to order.
Overall we enjoyed our stay and defiantly will be back. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Great stay!

We had a great stay at Daintree Wilderness Lodge! Service was excellent. Breakfast was small (fruit consisted of microscopiccally cut slices of strawberry and melon). On the other hand, dinner was great and not too expensive. The room is great: located in the middle of the jungle. Do not expect a luxurious room however: Based on the room, the hotel would have to be rared a 3 star hotel. Considering the location I think this hotel is value for money.

The Lodge is an eco-friendly and small hotel perfect for a peaceful stay in the rainforest. The rooms are very comfortable and private. The lodge's raised walkways over the forest floor allowed us to get very close to a cassowary in its habitat on our last morning - fantastic experience. The food is of high quality; both breakfasts and the evening meals were delicious. Bernie and Ben were enthusiastic, knowledgeable and very helpful when asked about tours, places to go, etc. Highly recommended for anyone who is looking for a quiet stay in truly beautiful surroundings.

Amazing Rainforest Retreat

My husband and I stayed for two nights in this amazing rainforest retreat--tree houses nestled within the lush rainforest. The room was very clean and bathrooms updated. You can see the rainforest through the skylight running the length of the cabin, amazing! Staff were wonderful: welcoming, pleasant, and helpful providing a map of the area and suggestions for local attractions to meet our holiday goals. The hike on the property is worth a go--we saw several beautiful birds, lizards, and plants. The resort location is well marked from the main road and parking is available. Breakfast was included and delicious--three options including a hot selection. Dinner is available at the resort. You must request your selection and meal time in the afternoon. We suggest eating in the resort because it was delicious, ample, lovely view, and there are very few options between the river fairy and Cape Tribulation where the sealed road ends. For us, one of the best features of the area was its remote location and lack of tourist amenities: few people at the beach, just a few restaurants, couple of convenience stores, and the gas station closes by early evening. Certainly, there are options for hiking, rainforest boardwalk walks, kayaking, Great Barrier Reef snorkeling and the Daintree Discovery Center is worth a look--we saw wild Cassowary there and near there, drive carefully. The Daintree Creamery offers delicious ice cream made from local exotic fruits--yummy.
