Our stay in the Daintree was short but wonderful. The accommodation was nestled in the forest and the swimming holes were easily accessible. The staff were friendly and the food good. We are already planning a longer stay.

My husband and I stayed here for a few nights, you could not get any more in the centre of the rainforest if you tried. This spot was beautiful, the creek / swimming holes that run through the property were absolutely stunning to swim in. The cabin we stayed in needs a little work but was clean and perfect for us. The staff were amazing, restaurant food was pricey but really good, the steak was 10/10! Perfect place to stay if you want to explore the rainforest, cape trib ect. Definitely recommend car hire.

Hidden gem in the heart of the rainforest

Excellent ‘rainforest’ experience. Lodges right on the edge of the rainforest, surrounded by lush plant.
Lodges neat, tidy and clean.
Cooper’s Creek swimming holes amazing, absolutely natural creek running through thick rainforest on the property with quick, easy access; swimming morning and night in the creek was the highlight of the stay.
Dinner delicious, a la carte menu and although not cheap the portions were enormous! Continental breakfast included and tasty.
Staff friendly and helpful.

Hidden gem

Food was really nice, frendly staff, spacious cabin with comfortable bed, very quiet, nicely hidden in the jungle so no signal or wifi in the room, but they have a large selection of dvds you can use. There is a swimming pool but You can also enjoy a refreshing dip in a natural swimming hole of the creek.

Beautiful rainforest location. We loved the honeymoon suite that we stayed in. The property has its own walking tracks and swimming hole on site.
It was lovely to disconnect and spend time in the rainforest.
The free continental breakfast was simple and nice. It was great that was included.

Great location. This was the second time we’ve stayed here. Both times we enjoyed the room, wading in Cooper Creek, and had good meals (breakfast and supper) in the restaurant. The following is not a complaint - but be aware that seed pods continually fall from the overhead canopy and onto the sheet metal roofs of the rooms with a large bang - so expect noise day and night from this (both of our stays were in July so this might be seasonal).

Cooper Creek is really the star attraction for this location. Don’t miss going for a wade in the creek!

This was a unique experience. We loved our stay here in the beautiful rainforest! We were so happy that we chose to stay in this location, north of the Daintree River ferry. It was close to all of the key sites in the Cape Tribulation section of Daintree National Park. The staff were wonderfully welcoming. Our cabin was clean and the simple decor seemed perfect for the location in the rainforest. We enjoyed the nice chairs on our front porch and, quite frankly, were pleasantly surprised to find that our unit had air conditioning. The property of the resort is amazingly beautiful, with a stream running through it that has two great swimming holes. They even have a lovely swimming pool on site. The included continental breakfast was very nice. Dinner in the beautiful open air restaurant was fantastic! Staying here was a great finale to our Australian vacation!

Amazingly beautiful and isolated

The lodge was in the middle of Daintree National (rain)Forest and is absolutely beautiful. It was within a quick drive of two of the most amazing beaches we’ve seen (Thornton and Cow Bay- just be careful / don’t swim). The lodge provided pure isolation and the ability to remove from the hustle of life. The experience was great from the pool, to the fresh made bread at breakfast, to dinner, to the “swimming hole in the creek”. The cabin felt like a cabin in a good way (with ac, a fridge, etc). Just an outstanding experience.

Stayed in the Daintree many times but this was our first stay at Heritage Lodge and I can't imagine staying elsewhere again. Beautiful setting, well-appointed cabins, exceptional food (like, really really good) and comfortable beds. The creek is an added bonus. I just wish the facility would educate people about swimming with insect repellant. I saw a whole family of four douse themselves in aerogard and then swim in the creek just moments later. This location is also central to the whole of the Daintree which makes it perfect.

Basic rooms in the Rainforest with swim creek

We stayed 2 nights after ALOT of online research looking for accommodation for a family of 4. Our criteria was somewhere where we could all sleep in one cabin and had a restaurant. The Heritage Lodge (and Spa has been removed from their business cards) is about 25 mins from the ferry. Restaurant dinner was very high quality and price reflects (Around $40 / main). Pool is small and unheated but swim in the 2 swimming holes. A crystal clear, croc free creek runs at the back of the hotel and wa great for a swim and skimming stones. The rooms are very clean and unfortunately in pairs (so you do hear next door). They are dated and basic....but youre in the rainforest! Most other places in Cape Tribulation are camping or self-catering. Loved no WiFi and no mobiles - great choosing a DVD from the HuGE selection and watching together after a busy day in the rainforest. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the area and helped booking activities (by landline!). Breakfast was a fruit salad, toast/bread and cereals. Enjoyed our stay. A special place. Feels expensive for the quality....but you're in the Rainforest!!

Had an enjoyable stay. The room is a bit rustic, as expected, and was satisfactory. Air conditioned if needed, but open windows were sufficient at this time of year. Beautiful natural setting and very quiet except for seed pods dropping onto the tin roofs. Wonderful swim hole in the nearby creek. The creek was the best part of our stay and our girls loved it. Continental breakfast was sufficient (toast/jams, fruit, yoghurt, cereals, small pancakes, coffee/tea/juices). Mattresses are hard. Lovely stay. Restaurant dinner was good, but on the expensive side.

The Daintree is wild! This was a great place to stay right in the middle of things with easy access to beaches and the rainforest. The room was simple and clean. Due to the area facilities were limited, but staff were brilliant and accommodated our needs. Restaurant was good- portions were huge and food very tasty. Real rainforest experience, in the middle of things we saw birds, spiders, huge ants and a python! Frogs croaking in the background made this a magical place.

This place is set right into the rainforest and the gardens are amazing. Has 2 waterholes to swim in, one below the restaurant, and a nice pool. Owner was very helpful and accomodating. Restaurant has an amazing setting but book ahead and ask for a table on the rail, we were down near the entrance and it stifled any rainforest feel for me especially since I was facing away from it. Adult meals were a miss unfortunately, (overcooked barra with crinkle cut fries? $30) kids liked theirs, in the end I didn't like the price though based on the meal I had and where I was sitting probably. lol Accomodation are basic cabins which I think suits the location but possibly overpriced... you're paying for location, location!! They were clean and comfortable but obviously not a lot of privacy when the whole family is in the one room which doesn't worry us but could others. No internet which was fine for us, daughter struggled, haha, they have 1000+ DVD's to choose from and we went on a night walk on one of their marked trails. Is about 25 minutes from Cape Trip where the tours go out of so you need a car. Overall an amazing experience staying right in the rainforest.

Rainforest retreat with private swimming hole

This is the rainforest experience we were hoping for. The cabins were roomy, bathroom was clean and tidy and the grounds were so beautiful. We were the only people staying so we had the whole place to ourselves. Even though that is rare there would be enough room around the lodge even if ot was full. The restaurant views look over the swimming holes and creek. We felt very welcomed by the owners and staff. Anthony was very knowledgable about the local area and what places were a must see. His recommendations on eateries were spot on too. We will be back when we visit the Daintree again

We chose this place because it was mid summer and it had a freshwater swimming hole, which was amazing and a really enjoyable experience and very close to the accomodation. I also liked the fact we were completely surrounded by rainforest, there were a lot of mosquitoes but that was expected and they stayed outside our fully screened room. We had dinner and breakfast that was good, kids enjoyed it too. Accomodation a bit dated but was fully functional. We all enjoyed having no wifi for a change.

A magical Daintree experience

The Heritage Lodge is a tropical oasis in the heart of the rainforest within easy reach of everything the Daintree has to offer. The pristine creek and swimming holes are truly unique and sets this place apart from others. The staff too were key to our experience. Vicky, Anthony and Denise in particular were such wonderful hosts and made our stay very special. Planning our next escape already!

We adored our stay here. Fell in love with the location, especially the waterhole. The walks around tree lodge were full of wildlife and stunning rainforest. Staff were so friendly and our room was clean and comfortable.
The only downfall was that none of the amenities were available to us at this time of the year. Room rate was still $248 but restaurant was closed for dinner and the spa was not open.
We still had an amazing time, and were the only guests at the lodge for one night. We would definitely stay again. Was the highlight of our holiday.

If you want peace and quiet this is the place.

Wonderful spot right in the middle of the forest. Staff friendly and welcoming. We had been travelling most of the day and were tired and hungry. Unfortunately we were too late for lunch and told that because of low occupancy the restaurant would be closed for dinner. So we had to drive a while more later. Otherwise perfect

To say that our first night was horrific is an understatement. it was impossible for any of us to get some sleep. The entire night, our tin roof sounded like giant boulders were smashing into it. I can now understand why the military use this noise tactic, it was pure torture for us adults and it traumatised the kids. Every time you start to fall asleep, giant objects would violently smash into the tin roofs. This would occur every 5-10 mins for the entire night. I couldn't believe we paid for this torture. The next morning we went out to investigate and saw that an enormous tree with hundreds of red plums hung over the entire cabin. The seeds were falling off and at that height, you could hear that crashing sounds from kms away. Sadly we lost a day and half due to sleep deprivation, we had to cancel our plans the next day and spent the day sleeping. Furthermore, my daughter is special needs and the whole experience really effected her (and us). I asked the lodge for a 50% refund (as I am a reasonable person) and a change of room. The manager refused and had the nerve to tell me she is fully aware of the trees fruiting and have never \"had anyone complained about it as verbally as you\". Even after we changed to a new cabin at the far end, we could still hear the noise and while walking around the tracks you could hear that tree from afar for days. It's obvious the staff knew about it the whole time.

Surrounded by rainforest

Spectacular setting where you drive in a narrow entrance with huge trees on either side. You feel deep within the rainforest. Our meal at the restaurant was excellent. We really enjoyed both the steak and the fish. The next nights Anthony kindly organised the bbq area for our use.
Great location close to Thornton beach near the river tour. The boardwalks were and easy drive and well worth the walk. We loved zip lining in the jungle. It gave the best vantage of the rainforest and was very professionally run.
The staff at the Heritage were particularly kind and helpful. Christie was so enthusiastic about all the various activities.
A wonderful experience.

You are surrounded by the rainforest in this beautiful location. Everyone was helpful and kind especially Christie and Anthony. So enthusiastic! Dinner was scrumptious surrounded by rainforest looking over the creek and waterhole. They kindly set up the bbq area for the other nights. I loved the rainforest walks, the birds and butterflies. Jungle surfing is well worth the experience. The boardwalks are close by and fabulous. We even saw 4 crocodiles on the cruise. Great holiday location.

A secluded little slice of rainforest paradise

Our family of 4 stayed here for 2 nights and loved the tranquillity and isolation of this hidden gem. It had a beautiful open restaurant overlooking the natural swimming hole below. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The location is very central to walking trails, swimming holes and the beach. The rainforest and wildlife were in abundance and it was heaven to step out from your doorstep and experience the amazing Daintree. The cabins are clean and comfortable......just a note there is no mobile phone reception, TV or wifi which was perfect for us to escape reality!

Very relaxing place to be. Most of the staff are lovely and will go out of their way to give you advice about where to visit or buy things.

As others have said rooms are very basic with plain and rusting furniture and fridge. Thick coating of dust over everything in one room but not others. Cleaner does not come every day just drops off towels. Be warned also that breakfast ends strictly at 9am including weekends so no sleeping in! Dinner is also only served 6-7 on slow evenings. No TV reception in rooms only a limited selection of older DVDs. Breakfast very basic with only toast, 3 types of cereal and slices of melon and sometimes a bit of other fruit. Some yogurt, cheese/sliced mean, pastries and some tropical fruit would make the breakfast much more appealing .

Great setting in the rainforest

We loved the setting of this place, in the middle of the rainforest. The waterholes are great to swim in, and the restaurant offered good food in a spectacular setting.

Daintree stay

The lady running the place was very friendly as was the lady who served breakfast. The size of the room was good and it was good to have air conditioning. The ability to go for a swim in the creek that runs past the property was a bonus. Unfortunately, the place is looking a bit run down and is in need of a refresher.

Lovely setting in the Daintree rainforest.

We had a very relaxing stay at Heritage Lodge. The setting in the rainforest beside Cooper creek was beautiful and the staff were friendly and helpful. The resident bandicoot and the Cassowary wandering around the grounds were an added bonus!

Tranquil, relaxing & beautiful spot

My 12 year old daughter & I spent 3 nights here at the beginning of August. We slept so well in the peaceful location. The staff were very friendly & helpful. Yes a bus party stayed one night (20 people) but this did not interfere with the ambiance. The decor of the cabins is in keeping with the ambiance - it is not modern but is very comfortable. The view from the restaurant to the creek & rainforest is lovely.

OK Hotel in Fabulaous location

Hotel itself was so-so. The steel roof amplified the sound of rain and woke us each night. Staying in the rainforest however was great. My biggest beef was that the reservation claimed to have free wi-fi, and when we got there we were told that the hotel didn't provide free wi-fi because it was too expensive.
