Property need a lot of renovations, outdated. Staff not so helpful. Booked room with city view and got no view at all, had to go downstairs and speak with manager about room.first they say we are fully booked and don’t have any room, after I said I need refunds or going to check out tonight. They all of the sudden had a room available, didn’t understand this game. Not booking again there.

Reception is a small desk in the corner with one employee. Took over 30 minutes to check in. Then they gave me a twin bed room when I reserved a full. 10 more minutes at reception to get moved. Told that parking is beneath the building so I pulled into an unfinished parking garage. As I left the attendent said it was the wrong place. Then proceeded to charge me an hour parking when I was there two minutes. The correct garage was also unfinished and someone blocked me in after I found a place amongst the debri. No sign of an elevator or exit signs so we had to lug our luggage through the costruction site till we found a way out. Wall shaking jackhammer noise all afternoon. No oulets near the bed. No exhaust fan in the bathroom. Room lighting was impossible to figure out. Breakfast was no better. The scrambled eggs were indeible, looked like they made them last week. The coffee machine broke down three times while we were there. No real juice, only flavored sugar water. The rest of the buffet was no better. Came in in the afternoon and there were two secutity guards, both on their phones. No joke, I actually waved my hand in front of the face of the one sitting near the door, and he didn't even look up. The elevators are door key activated and my wife had the key, so I asked someone working in the lobby where the stairs were. They told me there were no stairs. I asked someone else who took me into the staff only area to a staircase. At my floor there was no handle on the door.

Very beautiful hotel. Clean in all areas.

The hotel is just behind the Albanian Stadium in Tirana, which is a wow factor.

Hotel is 5 minutes walk to the Pyramid, 10 minutes walk to the city .

Buses from the hotel to the city centre is just 4 minutes away

We went to Albania to celebrate my hubby's birthday.

I ordered for a cake with the intention to pay for it, and we got a cake to feed 6-8 people for free.😃.

The cake was delicious.

Lawrence thanks, for helping to order the cake

Lola thanks for baking my husband the lovely cake.

Breakfast is a wow factor, great selection to choose from. Thanks to the cooks and waiters.

Lawrence and Belsie the receptionists were very helpful during check in.

There is a marvellous park with a massive lake behind the hotel.

To conclude, Mak hotel is the perfect place to stay if you visit Tirana.

My husband and myself loved our 5 days stay and will visit again.

My only concern is staffs at the entrance not welcoming, you have to greet them, they never say hello when you leave or enter the hotel.

I travel a lot, at least 5 times a year and go to different countries and staffs at the other hotels I have visited have been friendly and make you feel welcome.

Fantastic location. Wonderful staff. Everything about it is great - but at the moment they are being upgraded. It wouldn't stop me from staying there but it was irritating to have scaffolding being clunked around at 0800 when I am looking for a break.

So. Great hotel with wonderful staff. But .. just for a while dont expect perfection

The staff were excellent, the food at breakfast and in the restaurant was very good. However, the building work around the hotel made relaxing at the pool and on the terrace impossible. The hotel, or Expedia, should advise guests, before they book that the disruption is intrusive and makes the pool area unsafe (by UK standards).

Some overall issues with the power outlets (only one of them worked). Also, one night I got back to the hotel very late at night and my card would not unlock the door. Front desk staff came upstairs to let me in using their card, but that didn’t work either. The employee said that the battery must have run out, and I had to wake up the other guest in the room to let me in. It’s very inconvenient to be in this type of situation at 3am.

Scaffolding and blue covers obscuring view

This hotel is currently surrounded by scaffolding for large-scale works that will last for years. The blue covers obscure the view and block natural light, casting an unsettling gloom over the entire experience.

Despite the obvious disruption, management pretends the issue doesn’t exist. Staff appear indifferent to guests' frustration, and service suffers as a result. Seeking some relaxation, I attempted to use the pool—only to find the outdoor one abruptly closed for a noisy private event, without any prior notice. The indoor pool, meanwhile, was uncomfortably cold, with no clear information on how to obtain locker keys. And nobody at the reception caring about it.

Breakfast is equally disappointing, with cheap, uninspired food and yet another obstructed view of scaffolding and blue veils. We avoided the restaurant for luch and dinner but it seems it was equally bad.

Considering the current conditions, this hotel should not remain open during such extensive construction, as the lack of warmth, comfort, and hospitality makes for an unpleasant and unwelcoming stay.

Lovely hotel but…..

The staff were fantastic and friendly. They accommodated us and our two dogs though the premium was a little steep at €50/night. Sadly the hotel was a building site, the indoor pool was closed which is one of the reasons we booked there. The shower had seen better days and the TV did not work well, no access to online stations. Most tv was Albanian which is fine but obviously couldn’t understand! Location was ideal for the dogs adjoining the park with lovely walks.

This property is old. I’m not even sure how it’s considered a 5 star hotel. Our room was dirty. There where no power outlets to charge our electronics, the mini bar fridge was broken, waste bin was broken and A/C didn’t put out enough air to cool the room. The pool was in terrible condition and there was basically no one working there at all. This hotel is really overpriced for what you get. However, the breakfast was okay. The coffee in the morning was good and the location of this hotel is excellent too. Overall I would not stay here again for the price. This is maybe a 3 star hotel at best.

Lovely hotel. Maintenance needs more attention

The staff were very good the hotel was clean and the food was of good quality. My only small complaints are we advised reception that the air-conditioning was blowing out hot air. somebody came to the room, they told us to wait an hour and see if it was cooler. it wasn’t we complained again and they sent a service engineer, he pressed a couple of buttons on the unit told us again to wait 10/20 minutes but it was still blowing out warm air. we told the reception again but it didn’t get resolved. We wasn’t able to use the air conditioning during our whole stay.
The second issue I had on my departure: the room that I paid for included breakfast and access to the lounge where soft drinks and beverages were included but I was charged on my departure for water and Pepsi out of my minibar which I must add in the lounge it’s free. I queried this but was told I had to pay.
