Great location in the heart of Knowlton. The room was a good size and well maintained. There’s no elevator and at least one flight of steps up to rooms. The attached restaurant was good and there are a number of restaurants nearby.

The hotel has been in existence since 1849 and there is definitely a charm to it! I didn’t know there was no elevator when booking and my mum who is elderly had trouble to climb many stairs. The gentleman at reception (Gabriel) was so very helpful to us to and it was a relief to me and mum. We were there overnight but very happy to have been at the charming hotel. It is smack in the small town which was ideal.

Although the location is perfect if you are looking to stay in Knowlton, the building is run down and the rooms are completely outdated. There was no one at reception when we got there, an envelop with room key waited for us. The bathroom is very old and you can here the pipes working overtime when opening the shower. It is very clean even if old. The price for that kind of room in completely unjustifiable.

Lovely, quiet place. No luxurious but comfortable. In the heart of Knowlton with shops and restaurants close by and a fabulous bookstore.
The only downside for some travelers is the absence of an elevator as the hotel is on the 2nd floor, 1st floor if floor designated in the continental manner, so a flight of stairs.

Recognize this is a very old facility, which absolutely contributes to its charm. The bed was good, I meant to suggest to management (but did not see anyone our departure day) that their tub should have a grab bar for getting in and out as bath mats on tile are slippery. But as an “elder” I take precautions. We were there for the Three Pines “ Louise Penny visit - to see the environs for her stories, imagine the Inspector and his crew settling by the fire at the book store cafe, and so forth. We enjoyed walking downstairs and having our dinner, talking with the staff and lingering in the cozy room. I’d like to suggest a lighting redesign for the fans in the dining room (too bright) but I’m just too detail oriented for my own good.

We enjoyed our stay. Room was pleasant, comfortable. Disappointed that there was no cream/milk, water for coffee maker etc. We ate in the restaurant and unfortunately, there was only one chef and one waitress - service was extremely slow - we entered at 6:30 and did not get served until after 8. Felt so bad both server. Food was delicious once we got it. - hope to return one day.

This historic auberge is in the center of the town of Knowlton. It is close to cafes and shops. The staff was friendly and helpful. There is a long porch across the front and a common room for coffee or games. We had a wonderful time.

We really enjoyed staying here and dining at Le Relais just downstairs. The stairs were not as steep as mentioned on Trip Advisor by other guests. Our keys were waiting at reception for us. The rooms are nice and reminded us of our stays in Europe.

Quaint, older auberge. Our room was lovely and clean. It was, however, very noisy on the outside as it was at a busy intersection. Not only loud pick ups and school buses, but also construction vehicles working several blocks away. There is a really special cafe and bookstore a few buildings away. Three Pines-ish (see Louise Penny) cafe and if you ask, the barista will add a cinnamon or cocoa three pines. Almost too beautiful to drink.

Good size room with comfortable bed. No in-room coffee maker or refrigerator but there was a communal one in the hall. Lovely covered balcony for guests to enjoy. No frills, but perfectly fine accommodation. Not a location for anyone with mobility issues as registration and rooms are on 2 upper floors reached by steep stairs.

The Auberge had a lot of potential. It has old world charm, it’s comfortable and clean.

However the service is lacking. We had minimum interaction with one employee and it was very cold. This was when we arrived, around noon, and we were sent away because it was too early. It was, but there are different ways to address customers who arrive with a smile asking, not demanding, if the room was ready.

We returned at 5 and found an envelop in reception with our key. And we left at 9:00 and left the keys in a jar.

This is not what we expected from a hotel at that price range.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the inn - a storm knocked out the power to the town - but the inn stayed fully lit & running at all times with its own generator system - very impressed by that - the history & atmosphere of the inn is great as well as the front desk staff - we very much enjoyed spending time on the upper porch balcony - our only complaint would be the need to update the bed mattresses to something more soft & comfortable plus having an ice machine on-site for guests - with these two items addressed - I would then be able to give the inn the highest grade & recommendation - I was glad of our choice & would stay again - Thx

The property is historical, unique and lovely. We were greeted warmly and everything was thoroughly explained. The rooms are comfortable and very charming. There are gathering spaces on each floor for coffee, tea and conversation. The balcony is full of flowers and has ample seating. A great place to stay!

We picked up our room key and info in an envelope at the front desk and climbed two flights of stairs to our old fashioned but clean room. The best part was dinner at the associated bistro (there was also a discount included with the room) and the convenient location in town. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony with a beverage in the evening.

We enjoyed our stay. Auberge Knowlton is close to the Lac-Brome Bookstore and Caron Coffee Shop, which serves great coffee and delicious pastries! We enjoyed walking around the village. It was fun to stay in such an historic place. We had one issue and it really colored our experience. The power went out in the main floor coffee/gathering room. In order to get coffee or tea, we had to carry water up to the 2nd floor. On the way down, we had an accident and spilled coffee. There was no one around, so we used a white hand towel in our room so that no one would fall. We received a rather nasty note that we would be expected to pay for the towel. We paid, but wow - we felt that was out of line considering everything.

The only only downside is , that it is a very old building, so it doesn't have an elevator. And it's impossible to install one. So it you have very heavy suitcases, this will be an issue. I do recommend to stay there, because of it's charming old style and the peoples friendliness

Overall this is a great spot to stay. Very convenient having a decent restaurant and bar right downstairs. Staff were great and it has everything you need. It’s not a modern building but that’s part of its charm. Rooms were clean and well appointed. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

The walls are thin / you can hear people clearly walking or talking by the door or using the common kitchen if you have a room by there. Bed comfortable enough and has good character. The bath tub caulking was a bit moldy but, overall, the stay was decent and staff friendly.

Place is cozy, cute, and clean and the location is great. The noise from the restaurant downstairs is definitely an issue. There was a drunk man speaking boisterously with his friends for 2 hours after the restaurant closed at 9 pm. It sounded like he was standing at my door yelling for two hours and there was no one at the reception after 6pm to contact. I thought the staff downstairs could have been more mindful that there were a few of us staying at the auberge upstairs and asked the man to speak at a more reasonable volume (the restaurant and auberge are joined and you have direct access into the dining room from the auberge). Bring ear plugs if you come here. But otherwise a very nice experience.

The adjacent Bistro Le Relais is a great asset. Particularly in wintry conditions.
