We stayed at this hotel for six nights. This is a family owned hotel. All employees are extremely friendly and helpful. The owner Antoniono and his son Mino treat you like a family. The rooms are good size and priced very reasonably, considering they are only 15 minute walk from the city center. Many rooms face the Bay of Naples with Mt. Vesuvious in the background. The bus stop is only a few minutes walk from the hotel. Large grocery store is 10 min walk. Really good full breakfast is included and served either inside or outside in the garden. Dinner can also be ordered. Beautiful pool with a bar. Beautiful Orchard where you can stroll around and admire different fruit trees and vegetable garden. We really liked our stay at Girasole!

I just loved the owners and all the staff at Hotel Girasole, a lovely, historical and enchanting hotel with every convenience available. The location is within walking distance of the main center of town, Piazza Tasso, the staff cannot do enough for you. All are friendly and professional, and of course, the food is excellent! I loved all of them, especially the owners as well as Francesco, who was in charge of dining services. What lovely people and a beautifully maintained property. There is a beautiful outdoor covered patio, a large swimming pool area and beautifully maintained gardens. When we return to Sorrento, this is where we will stay.

Loved this hotel but sadly would not return as the walk into Sorrento is too far and in places not that safe.
We only ate in the hotel twice as food very limited and breakfast was mostly pastries not much fruit.
Pool area was lovely and quiet and plenty of hot water in your room, staff very friendly and helpful

This property is just okay. The staff is excellent and the pool is nice, but everything else did not live up to my expectations.

The rooms are very old and the linens seemed very old as well. There is some charm to this style of hotel, but the room never quite seemed fully clean to me. I noticed a few dead bugs in our room that never got cleaned the whole time we were there. There were a few days where the sheets were also not changed even though I requested that the room be cleaned.

The rooms also only had one outlet plug available. As a traveler, it is so important to have a charged phone for safety. Thank goodness I brought a portable charger! This is a very minor detail, but still an inconvenience.

Our stay at Hotel Girasole was just fine, but next time I would definitely opt for something a bit more updated. Definitely would be worth spending the extra money on.

What I had issue with was the room walls and Front door are very thin and you could hear the neighbors, including the people above you. The bed mattress was only just good and probably needs to be replaced soon. The breakfast was good also.

The front desk was wonderful with recommendations. Always friendly and attentive. Close to railway station. We walked but had dragged a big suit case since no taxi was available at the time. Shower was small and so was the soap they give you. I used it up in one shower A little too far for me from the marina grande. Will stay closer next time.

Wonderful stay in Sorrento

We had an incredible stay at Hotel Girasole. The food, pool and room were lovely and it's in a great location to explore the Amalfi coast. I especially wanted to call out the receptionists for being so welcoming and friendly and going above and beyond to make sure we made the most of our stay; recommending transport, restaurants and places to visit.

We were visiting Italy from Miami Fl . Our stay here was fabulous 😊 the front desk people were super friendly and extremely helpful! The property is beautiful with lemon and lime trees everywhere! Very large pool with great snacks and drinks . Free parking was a huge plus as parking can be very difficult. The property is located at the entrance of town so you are away from the chaos but only a 15 min walk to the center. I work for a hotel so my standards are pretty high and we would definitely return !

We were lucky to spend 4 nights at the Hotel Girasole. A fabulous little hotel with lots of character. Situated on a busy road but when lying at the pool it couldn’t have been more relaxing. The staff were absolutely wonderful from first email contact to stepping through the door and couldn’t have done enough to help you. We had a fabulous family room on the 2nd floor which was split into two separate sleeping areas. Great view of the Bay of Naples from our balcony. Lunches by the pool were great, you must try ‘David’s Specials’. We enjoyed the Wednesday Pizza Party very much, with wonderful food and entertainment. The breakfasts and evening meals were fabulous as well and catered for Gluten Free. It was easy to walk to Sorrento about 15 - 20 mins with a slightly longer route avoiding the main road.
Thank you so much for such a wonderful stay.

Home away from home!

Everyone at Hotel Girasole was warm, especially one of the owners –Rita…such a beautiful & caring person. I twisted my ankle in Pompeii…Nino (one of the staff) & Rita were super nice by getting me icepack and medicine before my husband was able to go to the pharmacy. The room was very clean, spacious and comfortable with a patio that looked over the beautiful garden, pool and mountains. The service was excellent…the owners & staff showed great pride for Girasole…HOSPITALITY at its BEST. This hotel is lovely for many reasons…the garden for everyone’s enjoyment was varied with many beautiful & interesting selections of plants. In the hallway of every floor, there were different themes of paintings/prints…like an art gallery. A nice size pool equipped with chairs and a bar to enjoy after a day’s excursion…that was well worth having…to cool down in the Summer…what a great amenity. Another great amenity at Girasole is the delicious FOOD. How awesome it is to know that one of the owners bake the pastries for breakfast. AND we thoroughly enjoyed the dinners offered. Every night is a different menu of excellent cuisine that is delicious & exquisite. Compliments to a great chef. The location is easily accessible to any point of interest. You just have to ask Rita and she will point you in the right direction. I totally recommend this hotel. In the future, we could easily use it as a hub & stay 2-3 weeks in beautiful & friendly Sorrento.

The only downside was that the top bunk bed was really too hot to sleep in as it was directly below the warm air return. Other areas of the room were cooler. This was also an exceptionally hot time of the year so perhaps would not typically be a problem.

The hotel was 15-20 mins away from the Piazza so definitely walkable. I loved having breakfast out in the garden and the fact that breakfast to go was made for me and my partner before we left to the airport early in the morning (6AM). That was super thoughtful and lovely!

A Recommended Stay in Sorrento

Hotel Girasole is nicely placed a 15 minute walk from the centre of Sorrento and a five minute walk the other way to Sant Agnello. Although only small, Agnello has some nice bars and restaurants and is very handy if you don't want the walk the other way. Placed on the main road from Sorrento to Naples, some may find it a bit noisy but, as most of the hotels are situated along it, I'd take it as part of the Italian experience unless your budget can stretch to something a bit further back. The hotel staff were welcoming, friendly and always keen to offer travel advice. The continental breakfast is more than adequate although cooked food is available for a few euros extra. The grounds are excellent and the private pool really relaxing and quiet, although the rooms are a bit brown and drab. The showers are a little claustrophobic too and a larger person may struggle in them. The Pizza tasting night is worth staying in for though. I'd highly recommend this hotel but some might prefer a room at the back if you're not good with noise.

However would it stop me going back, no, we had a lovely time

LOCATION: east of Sorrento center about 18-20min walk away from Piazzo Tasso. We walked several times into town for dinner. Busy street with traffic but manageable.
PROS: 1) outdoor pool: large, well-maintained, in middle of Lemon trees
2) Parkinf is included: this was a major factor for us since we had a rental car and drove to Pompeii/Ercolano and Amalfi Coast (I don’t recommend driving into Sorrento downtown due to limited parking))
3) BREAKFAST: Continental breakfast with Saluki, cheese, yogurt, and pastries included.
4) ROOMS: decent size with A/C. There is a main building - where breakfast is served - and a smaller annex away from road and next to pool. We stayed in annex (quieter).
CONS: 1) location is further from city center than I would have liked but the parking and pool were more important.
2) Sorrento has mosquitoes in summertime (not unique to hotel) so bring bug juice

The room had adequate storage space, but we didn't find the bed particularly comfortable.

This hotel was in a great location. Walkable from local train station one way and town center the other way. They made great recommendation on a scooter rental, and allowed us to park it behind the gate. The room was spacious and clean. The plumbing worked, but was noisy. We unfortunately booked 1/2 board room. While the breakfasts were amazing, with lots of choices the dinners were just average at best. I would recommeded booking breakfast, but suggest you try some of the local restaurants which were amazing. I also thought it was a bit strange that we were required to rent pool towels for 3 euro pp and lounge chairs also 3 euro pp. However, pool area was pleasant and pool was refreshing.

Hotel room 50, amazing view over the bay and of Vesuvius. What a vision every morning on opening balcony doors. Yes hotel on Main road but so are a lot of the bigger hotels on Sorrento as it’s a busy area. Traffic noise did not bother us. Breakfast sufficient, cold meats, eggs, toast, cereal & fruit. Lots of cake if you into that for breakfast choice. Room exceptionally clean, bathroom great. Rita on reception lovely, very helpful. Pool and gardens beautifully kept. Location 20 min walk to centre but we love walking so no problem. Road busy and a little bit of care needed on small road sections when walking. Loved our stay.

Hotel location was handy about a 15 minute walk to the main square, although we were not staying in the hotel, when we arrived they brought us to a building around the back of the hotel - a converted house that had extra rooms in it and this is where we stayed, this was not clarified before staying and did not seem as safe as the hotel. I don't know how suitable the hotel entrance would be for children or elderly guests as the pavement ends for a good few meters before the hotel so you have to cross on a dangerous busy bend in the road or walk along the side of the road. There is a nice selection of food for breakfast, they say breakfast is 7-10, however if you turn up at 9.30 they refuse to let you sit inside, you have to sit in the garden which is not ideal when there are wasps around. If you ever want to eat in your room or on the patio of our room they charge you €1.50 to borrow a knife and fork which I was shocked at. They also have a very small snack area at the pool but you cannot pay with cash they will only let you put it on the tab for your room.

Hotel directly on the main road very busy smelly and polluted area due to the cars miles coaches etc all hours of the day and night.

Air conditioning was broken the majority of the stay alongside the fridge being broken and not replaced and not being able to open the balcony door because of the fumes and noise this was not a very relaxing hotel.

The shower was tiny and not well planned which led to water flooding through to the bedroom on every use and again hot!

The staff were very friendly and plesent however my main concerns werent really delt woth. The pool and the garden areas being present places of sanctuary.

I wouldn't recommend staying here and I will not be going back.

We changed rooms to the back as traffic noise is a problem at the front. However staff and rooms are amazing, The pool delightful and clean, with a nice bar. An unexpected bonus some nights was the offer of an evening meal with nice choices .

Celebrating our 40th in Sorrento

After a long and tiring travel to Sorrento, we arrived late in evening at the Girasole Hotel. We were warmly greeted by the front desk staff who informed us that a cold meal was waiting for us in the room. Being hungry and tired, this was music to our ears. This warm welcome continued through the rest of our weeks stay.

My wife and I really enjoyed the friendliness of the staff, the warm home like surroundings that were welcoming to any visitor. Girasole is a very cozy and warm place. This hotel is walking distance to the city center (10-15 min easy walk). The meals were very tasty and the drinks very reasonable. We had a fantastic time and would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a clean, family type and safe accommodations.

The garden facing rooms have sea and Vesuvius views.
The swimming pool is surrounded by citrus trees and especially recommended at the pool cafe \" David special number one and two \" which include delicious local tomatoes and lemon leaves from the garden.

The major attributing factor to the success of our holiday was down to the friendly and well organised staff at the Girasole Hotel, who made our stay so enjoyable. A family run hotel, we were made to feel welcome from the very start. The staff were so helpful and accommodating, it was a pleasure to return to the hotel each day after our excursions.
The Hotel is very well positioned to get to places of interest and is within walking distance of Sorrento and St Angello.
The hotel is attractive and very comfortable and we had a spotless, air conditioned family room with its own balcony overlooking amazing views! We also ‘slept like logs’ in the very comfortable beds.
We enjoyed all our meals and the snacks we had at the pool. The pool is lovely - a great place to cool off in and relax after sightseeing!
We want to thank all the staff who made our stay so special. Thank you Antonino, Rita and Monika for always being so warm and welcoming; to Tony, Karmine, Francesco, Mino and Eda for being so helpful and cooperative at meal times and other times too; to David and Eleanor for being so friendly and encouraging us to get onto the dance floor!! We would also like to thank Carol and the other cleaners who looked after our rooms so beautifully! As was mentioned in another review : ‘engage with the staff and they will certainly reciprocate’.
Needless to say, we look forward to visiting you all again and staying at the Girasole Hotel at some point in the future.

We stayed here for a week at the end of July and really loved it. The hotel is in a great location to walk to either Sorrento (20mins) or Sant'Agnello (15mins) as it sits in between both. You can also get the train from either place up to Pompeii, Herculaneum etc quite cheaply.

We just had a bed and breakfast option but did eat in the restaurant a few times. The breakfast is a cold buffet, no cooked breakfast, but it was nice anyway. The evening meals are also fairly reasonable and were lovely.

The pool area is great although you do have to pay extra for one of the better sun loungers. The pool itself is beautiful though and overlooks Vesuvius. The snack bar area down there was also great for a quick bite at lunch etc and was reasonably priced.

We had a room around the corner from the main building which was a nice quiet block and was basic but clean and tidy. If you want a view though you should ask for a room in the main block. on a higher level, overlooking the garden.

All in all we have a lovely holiday- the staff were amazing and couldn't do enough for you. We would definitely consider going back.

Hotel was overall pleasant with free parking. highly convinient.
Except the poor breakfast with no decent coffee, personnel of the dining room (the older) was aggresive and very much not nice. Gave a feeling they want you to finish eating and just go.

Choices choices

Staying in Sorrento and remaining solvent means you have to compromise.
The hotel is a fair distance from Sorrento (30-35 minute walk) and situated on a very busy main road with little or no pavement at times. I'd say it was treacherous. S. Angelo is nearer and is a better choice for access to trains to Pompeii etc..
On the plus side, the rooms are largish, comfortable, clean and offer great views of Vesuvius. The big plus however is the pool. Essential if you are travelling with kids.
For this reason, I would stay here again and choose to battle the lunatic moped riders over a less well equipped hotel in the centre of town.
P.s. Eat out.

The shower was either boiling hot or freezing cold.

The bed was rock hard.

The toilet was so cramped that you couldn't sit with you legs straight, they had to be off to the side.

They advertised free wifi but when we got there we discovered that our room (room 50) was the only room were the wifi didn't work.

The buffet breakfast was shocking. The food was not breakfast food and would sit out for hours! They also reused items after a week!

The room was no clean, the bathroom especially was very dirty some days.

Only good thing about our stay was the view (which we paid extra for)

And the pool was nice. However was only open until 7pm even though the sun didn't set till 10pm.

Great Stay and welcoming staff

Friendly staff who were available all day and night. 10 min walk from the main square, great view of the water and a nice pool area. Would recommend this to friends and family who are after a basic accommodation. Great location to do day trips.

We loved Hotel Girasole

Rita and her team were very helpful from day 1 of our visit. We paid for a garden view room, and got upgraded to a larger room (no.50) which was spectacular! Views of Mt Versuvius and the coastline - gorgeous! Breakfast was good, standard Italian selection plus proper tea/coffee. Pool is down a private Lane separate to hotel but still very easy to access. You can rent a sunbed for €3 or the deck chairs are free. Snack bar at pool is handy for refreshments during the hot day. We ate twice in the hotel, both nights great especially the pizza party. Would stay again and recommend this place to adults, potentially not kids given the walk into the main square. Thanks Hotel Girasole!

The room we had was in an annexe to the hotel. The room was spacious but the shower cubicle in the bathroom was very small you had to turn sideways to get in and out. We were offered another room with larger shower but decided not to take it as the rest of the room was not as good. They provide deck chairs and umbrellas around the pool and free pool towells, but charge for sun beds, which I don't agree with. The staff were helpful and friendly however and I could not fault the food.

It is a family run well kept hotel approximately 15 minutes walking distance from the Sorrento Train Station on main road, Corso Italia. Taxi drivers at the station can give you a shock of the century by the price they would ask.Local CAV bus stops near the station on Corso Italia. It costs about 1.50 euros.

Hotel kept ready dinner in our room as requested and arrived late. It was also topped up with more breads for our hungry stomachs. They kept all the requests emailed at booking. Weather suddenly become slightly chilly during our mid holiday and a room radiator was immediately provided.These friendly host gestures counts a lot in our memories.

Gazing towards the well kept garden was a pleasure to unwind with a spectacular view of Mount Vesuvious looming over Mediterranean sea.

Room was clean and has a freeze and safe. Food was excellent including ample breakfast.

Overall it was a good experience.

My husband and I stayed at the Girasole for 7 nights while we explored Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast. Our hosts were very welcoming and helpful. Although not in the city centre it was only a ten minute walk away.

The shower is not working properly. The shower pan is not deep enough and water overflows to the whole bathroom. Receptionist is friendly. Walking across the road to the hotel is challenging and dangerous.

There were 2 staff who were very friendly and helpful. The rest were rude and often wouldn't acknowledge you. The room condition was bad, thin walls waking us up every time someone turned on a tap. We had our towels outside to dry and the staff hosed the dirt from the level above all over our towels. The only positive was the pool. Won't stay here again.

the staff was wonderful and I would recommend to all. it was a walk to the shopping and restaurants but that didn't bother me. the walk to the beach was far too but again, walking doesn't bother me. if you have a hard time walking you should try to get a hotel closer to the shopping which is closer to the beaches too. but if you love the pool, they have one and it was great!! I recommend this hotel and the staff (family run) they were lovely

Warm and welcoming family run hotel.

This was our favorite hotel from our 3 weeks in Italy. Felt right at home as soon as we checked in, all the staff were very friendly and welcoming, this quaint family run hotel was clean and comfortable with a very nice pool and garden area and our room had a phenomenal view of Mt. Vesuvius and the Bay of Naples! The personal touches through out the hotel made it feel extremely homey. Conversations with Davide after supper were definate highlights of our stay! We enjoyed every moment we had there and wished we could have stayed longer. We can't say enough good things about this hotel and especially the staff! We look forward to returning someday.

The hotel was great and the staff gave excellent service! The garden was wery beatiful and gave full Comfort during breakfast and evening. Poolarea very nice with plenty of space for relaxing!
The only negative was the hotels location if you want to visit the center of the city because of a 20 min walk on a very bussy and narrow road!

This was a very pleasant experience. Rita and her family who own the hotel were extremely accommodating.
The breakfast was good, coffee, pastries, fruit and yogurts.

The pool was nice and there was a snack bar by the pool to get drinks and lunch.

The hotel was about a 20 minute walk from downtown. If you turn right at the first street toward town you can walk on a less busy and more picturesque road.

We took a taxi to get to the hotel from the train station, about 20 euros.

Not worth the money

This hotel is very basic at best. It's very old, and doesn't seem to have seen a renovation ever! It was not worth what we paid for our stay.

Our room-- a double--only had two electrical outlets, which is a bit strange today when everyone has at least a couple devices they need to charge. The room allegedly came with free Wifi but it was just terribly. Might as well have not had it.

Breakfast was fine but the coffee was terrible. If Italian trains, and tiny cheap hotels can invest in real espresso machines, there is no excuse for Hotel Girasole not to have one!

The location is awful. It's right on the incredibly busy Corso Italia, after a bend in the road, so you risk your life every time you attempt to cross the street. This isn't really their fault, but avoiding bodily harm might be important to some while booking their next vacation.

At least our room had a view of Vesuvius and the pool is very nice. Still I wouldn't rush back.

Disappoiting

This was the first time I was very disappoited with my Expedia booking. I asked for a quiet room, the the reception told me that this was impossible because my booking was not direct with the hotel. I was given a very noisy room which was not doble but single alghought my booking was for double room. The bed was uncomfortoble and it was impossible to sleep at night because of the noise. The shower was so tight for even one person that was a challenge to take a shower without hitting your arms, legs or head on the wall.

Good stay. Great pool. Convenient with dinner.

It was a couple's stay, but I had to take care of some business, too. We had breakfast and dinner included in our rate and it was good, not great. However, considering we wanted to spend most of our time at the hotel and in the pool, it was really convenient to be able to eat there and not walk 10-15 minutes into town. The pool was large and seating ample; however, they do charge for chaise lounge chairs (chairs that sit up are free) and do not provide beach towels. I tried to book the airport shuttle day before we left and was informed late in the evening that \"it was sold out.\" If the shuttle selling out is common or a possibility, it should have been mentioned upon check-in.

PS There is a nice little grocery store about a five-minute walk from the hotel. They make great, cheap sandwiches (and drinks) if you don't want what the hotel is serving for lunch.

Beautiful, Relaxing Hotel in Sorrento

This hotel is a bit older, but has all the amenities you need. Air conditioning is not the most affective, however it won't be an issue if you are traveling outside of the hot summer. The pool is a great place to relax during the day if you do not have day trips planned. Located 10 minutes from the city center (walking). We would definitely stay again.

This is quite a nice hotel, with friendly staff, a delicious breakfast with many choices, and a lovely swimming pool with nice view. Good location for visit to Pompeii.

We had a family/quad room with a comfy king bed and bunk beds for the kids. Was very clean and enough space for everyone. Bunks worked fine for us, but would prob be a bit on the small side for adult sized teens. Only issue at all was that A/C was out and weather was hot - so was a bit too hot for sleeping. Told the owner who promised to get it fixed.

Pool is really nice, just a one minute walk across a small street with no real traffic. They have citrus trees all around the pool. Somehow their Gardner has trees that grow oranges, limes, lemons, grapefruit, and pomelo all on the same tree! Very interesting to see. Was asked if we could pick and eat a few oranges (also served at breakfast) and they are delicious.

We were able to walk to hotel both from Sorrento (15-20 minutes) or Sant Agnello train station. Not too far, but it is not right in the thick of things. Our room was quiet.

Overall, happy with our stay here.
