Pretty place reminds me of an hacienda. They are remodeling the patio so no chance to relax in the patio. No remote control in room so had to ask for it. Also had to tell front desk about needing hot water to shower. They turn it off at 6pm. Friendly staff, good location

Pleasant room but the included breakfast and dinner was a real bonus. Everyone received the same meal which we imagine would suit most pallets - not too spicy for our Australian tastes. Transfers from the train to the hotel and later back to the bus station were included and much appreciated.

Cosy hotel, but noisy and busy

We stayed here for a couple of nights, but weren't too happy with it. First of all we booked a different location, but got send to this place. The hotel apparently hosts a lot of group tours, so expect it to be busy with groups of people. It was therefore unfortunatly very noisy at night and early in the morning. Breakfast and dinner is included, but very greasy and not really traditional Mexican. However, it is a cheap hotel, so can't complain too much about it

The hotel has a very nice courtyard and looks very nice. Rooms are reasonably comfortable.

Stayed there for a relaxing mountain get away. The people were wonderful, loved their wonderful breakfast and dinner. The Copper Canyons are extremely beautiful. Would love to go back but when its snowed it would be awesome.

Nice room - shame about the customer service.

This review is actually about the sister hotel Casa Margarita Plaza. Check-in was a nightmare. Tried to check-in to the hotel I had booked but was sent to their sister hotel as they didn’t have room. They wouldn’t accept my reservation on my phone and wanted me print it out?? The guy on reception was not helpful at all. The room was lovely though with great heating and hot water when it was working! There was no power or water from 11pm - 4.30pm the next day. This wasn’t the hotels fault as it was all throughout creel. What was disappointing though was that there was no Info as to what was actually happening and when the power and water would be back. Breakfast and dinner was included which was an added bonus and the food was okay. This is actually a lovely little hotel with some positive points, however the customer service and communication marred our stay.

Do not expect to get the hotel you are reserving

I have stayed twice with Casa Margarite's. Both times, I was never actually placed into that hotel. This is a collection of hotels, and it appears they routinely overbook and sort it out when you arrive. In two visits, I have been placed/moved into three different properties - all owned by the same people. The facilities are fine - even great - but it seems to be very random where you might stay.

Additionally, they demand a printed reservation (a confirmation number or an Expedia itinerary number are not sufficient). The trouble is, they have no printers at the desk and you need to go into town, rent time on a computer, and pay for a printout. It is a major hassle. If you do not do it right away, they consistently harrass you for this. But if you know this ahead of time, there will be no problem.

The facilities and amenities are very nice, and it is a good value. The included meals are \"average\", but adequate. The hotel is also involved in selling excursions, and it is very easy to arrange trips through them.

Just be aware that you are traveling in rural Mexico, to a facility that operates as if it is 30 years ago. Bring a bit of patience, all of your paperwork, and some Spanish. With that, you should be fine.

Be careful staying at this hotel. They lock the doors at night, but you are locked in with no one to let you out in care of a fire or other emergencies. Cool architecture but there are rats in the walls. I woke up to them speaking and scratching in the walls. I asked about an early check out at 6am and that I needed to get my car out of the gated lot in order to make it to the airport in Chihuahua. \"No problem,\" said the front desk staff, \"The guard will be there and will let you in at 6. Don't worry,\" he said. At 6am I was locked inside the hotel, unable to get out until I found the keys at the desk and unlocked myself. There was no one at the lot and I had to get help from a staff member at another unrelated hotel down the street who then contacted someone who could open the gate, delaying me 75 minutes.

Nice hotel Bed/Breakfast near city center

We arrived very late past midnight. The place was very hard to find (apparently there are two hotels with very similar names with same owner). After we finally found it the only staff was the security who was unable to find out registration. We explained we made it only a few hours prior so he took our word for it and checked us in. In the morning he knocked on our door to make sure we didn't miss breakfast. Very nice gesture. The morning staff found our booking and everything was good. They have a great tour to the coooer canyon leaving at 9 am and other tours are available. All in all a great experience. We plan to go back.

Casa Margarita's is the center of activity

Casa Margarita's is the hub of almost everything in Creel. When they get things right, they deserve to be just that.

I booked two nights ahead of time, but when I arrived they were overbooked by a large group and shuffled me off to a much-lesser hotel three blocks away. They offered no concession on price and, in fact, no apologies. Instead, they blamed Expedia for the error.

The second night I was moved to the actual hotel, and it was excellent! For a mid-range property, the rooms are excellent: clean, well-appointed, and decorative. While it made no difference to me, some guests may not be really fond of all the stairs.

The included meals were s0-so, but adequate.

Several tour operators, with a huge variety of options and pricing, seem to cluster nearby. In fact, Casa Margarita's seems to control a loose syndicate of tour promoters so it is so very easy to make reservations for these excursions. Casa Margarita's uniquely offers an overnight trip to the bottom of the canyon, where you are placed in a beautiful mansion-like hotel. That was the best part of the experience, and I highly recommend taking this excursion to Batopilas and, in fact, you should stay there at least two nights.

Hotel was shut when we arrived...

Although we had booked to stay at Casa Margarita's, the hotel was locked and empty when we arrived. Looking at other reviews, this doesn't entirely appear to be unusual. There is a sister hotel in Creel, and a member of staff spotted us trying to figure out how to get into Casa Margarita's and explained that we needed to go to the Hotel Plaza Mexicana Margarita's instead. It was only a couple of blocks away (10 mins walk).

At Hotel Plaza Mexicana, they had no record of our booking and initially indicated that we would have to pay to stay there, despite having the booking confirmation from hotels.com indicating that the booking was fully confirmed and paid for (in Spanish - which also helped, as unfortunately none of the desk staff could speak English and our Spanish was lacking). All quite stressful!

With regards to Plaza Mexicana Margarita's - the staff were friendly; the hotel is pleasant, central and quiet; the rooms were large, clean and had WiFi; and the food was fine. The tours that the hotel run are really only done in Spanish and the prices are quite fluid (depending on numbers) - some of the other local operators may be better at providing English tours or providing fixed prices.

Loved the place!

Great deal and wonderful staff. The meals (included) were authentic Mexican, yummy, and plenty of food. It was a stop over on the train ride from Los Mochis to Creel to see the famous Copper Canyon. We ended up going with EzeQuiel (who picked us up at the train) of Tarahumara Tours (and worked for the hotel) on a tour to the Zip lines, tram, and views of the Canyon. Ended up staying two nights. A celebration in the town square one evening was an added plus.

A little mix up at the beginning with other hotel. Tour next day was good. Room needs a fridge or assessible or ice machine and pop machine in restaurant that's accessible at all times. Beds were great! Internet and TV were good. Breakfast on 1st day was poor but 2nd am good.

expensive hotel for unhelpful staff

The room was clean but none of the staff at this hotel (except the staff in the kitchen) seems to be interested in offering good service. When I checked in the receptionist guy just gave me the key. The room was freezing but they didnt turn the heate even at night.. I asked the staff and it took her 30 min to do. Next morning I asked if I can leave my luggage to another staff and he just pointed at the storage room without saying a word.

Great hole in the wall in perfect position

Myself and husband were traveling the Copper Canyon and spent 5 nights here in Creel. Perfect position close to train station and town. Everything was walking distance (and walking to hire mountain hikes to see valley of frogs, mushroom, monks). Staff excellent, although no English they do their very bast. Super clean rooms, comfortable beds and good view. Food was great too.

Basic hotel room at a reasonable price.

There is some refurbishing work underway at this hotel and very few guests staying there at this time. We had a friend join us at the last minute and they would not provide her with a room. They did provide her with an excellent room at their \"sister hotel\" about 2 blocks away. Breakfast and dinner were included (served at the sister hotel) and were definitively adequate. Breakfast was coffee, orange juice, porridge (tasted like cream of wheat but they said it was made from peas), ranchero scrambled eggs and refried beans. Dinner was beef tips with mashed potatoes and a vegetable, the next night pieces of chicken breast (similar to a stur fry) with rice and a vegetable. Very enjoyable both nights we were there.. Very helpful arranging a good tour. At this time I would recommend the sister hotel (I forget the name). It is better value for a little more money.

We booked two 2-bed rooms. One room was excellent the other a very small 1-bed room. The 1-bed room was so small that if was useless for two people. The smaller room was rejected by us. The hotel provided a replacement room in a sister property for a not insignificant surcharge! The included supper and breakfast was not provided at the hotel but at the sister hotel which was a few blocks away. The hotel is receiving a major upgrade so noise and dust during day time is definite problem.

The free dinner and breakfast (provided by another hotel) is the best thing about this hotel. Management are rude and unhelpful - beware of the offer to be taken on a tour, don't go with Casa Margarita there are plenty of other legit tour operators to take you around Creel.

The Maria del Carmen room overlooked the plaza, was very clean, had copious hot water and good heating, and a nice soft bed. The breakfast and dinner is edible. Nothing to write home about, but then none of the food in Creel is. They do try to sell their tours, which aren't always the best option in town, but in my case it wasn't a problem. There are so few tourists now, that finding enough people to put a tour together is the bigger issue.

I stayed 3 nights in this hotel in november 2013. It's a quiet and safe place. Close to the train station with free pick-up service at the train station which one was just at 2 minutes walking. distance. Bus terminal also at walking distance. Well located in the town. The room was clean. Good price including breakfest and dinner. The personal was polite and helpfull. I recommand this hotel.

My son and I stayed at Casa Margarita's. We had a very enjoyable stay. We stayed in other hotels on our trip through Mexico this hotel was not the highest quality. It is a budget hotel, but it has something that other hotels did not. A feeling your are being treated as you mattered and an at home feeling. Besides the price/value is outstanding, the breakfast and dinner were simple but outstanding. The meal sizes were not big but they were adequate and I have a big appetite. The Mexican coffee with cinnamon was out of this world. I had 6 cups for breakfast. They even threw in a beer for dinner. Sure they kind of pushed you into their tours but the tours were great. Remember in Mexico everything is negotiable so you can negotiate the tour prices. In addition, we met so many nice people in the hotel that we want to keep in touch with. I live in Los Angeles and I highly recommend this hotel. We are coming back next year since we did not give ourselves enough time to see everything there is too see in this area. The drug problem is scaring people away from the Copper Canyon and I did not see that many foreign tourists in the area. Fortunately, Mexican tourists are visiting in large numbers. We came by bus from El Paso, Texas and we encountered no problems at all. The dangers are greatly exaggerated. Mexico is safe.

Casa Margarita's could have served as the only place that we needed to stay during our visit to Copper Canyon.

Isabel at the front desk was very friendly and helpful.
The restaurant readily accommodated our request for vegan meals.
They offer different tours each day that are reasonably priced (although admission fees are not included in their prices)

Although the rooms still have CRT televisions, the selection of channels was surprisingly robust, surpassing what we get at home.

We were very satisfied with our stay at Casa Margarita's and if we ever have a chance return to that area, we would readily stay there again.

Mal no hay agua caliente tiene que pedir prender el calentador si sales en el chepe a las 6am yo hay manera de bañarte, si hay grupos de viaje les dan preferencia en desayuno y cena. El hotel esta a 3 cuadras de la estación del tren y el encargado de la recepción nos quiso cobrar $200 cuando pedí comprobante de hotel me dijo que le diera lo que quisiera le di $70

El personal del hotel es el más descortés que he conocido totalmente inadecuado el trato además a las 10 de la noche cierran la puerta si llegas más tarde no te abren aunque esté pagada la habitación y por último no reconocían la Reservación a través de Hoteles.com me comentó la que me recibió que aunque ya estaba pagada eso era otra cosa y que ya no trabajaban con hoteles.com

El hotel es muy bonito, cerca del centro, pero el trato del personal es de lo peor, nadie esta en recepción, nadie te atiende y a mi me dijeron que la reservación no la tenian, que nunca les llegan las reservaciones por internet, el segundo dia me quisieron cambiar de hotel por que recibian un grupo grande, obvio no accedi por que yo hice la reservación desde 6 meses antes del viaje, dicen que es mejor hacer la reservación directamente con ellos, pero a otros huespedes les querian hacer lo mismo, cuando marcas te hacen sentir culpable por haber comprado por internet y hasta groseros se portan, y como no accedí a cambiarme de hotel (después que ya habia pasado una noche) se portaron mas groseros y desatentos conmigo, el lugar es muy bonito pero el personal deja mucho que desear, incluso antes de ir, marque y me dijeron que me comunicars con la señora Beatriz nunca contesto el whats app aunque le estuviera pidiendo una confirmación, son muy groseros con sus huespedes y dan mucha preferencia a los grupos que ellos reciben, las reservaciones por internet para ellos no existen prácticamente

La ubucación y las instalaciones son buenas

El hotel en general cumple con los servicios, sin embargo no querían respetar la reserva y querían cobrar más, abusan un poco de que era temporada alta. Primero me dijeron que no tenia reserva que fuera a otro hotel de ellos a unas cuadras y en la tarde nos dijeron que siempre sí y nos regresaron al hotel. Es una falta de seriedad ademas de que piden la confirmación impresa y se deslindan de la responsabilidad diciendo que Expedia luego reserva demás.

On vient nous chercher a la descente du train et on nous amène a un hôtel Margarita qui n'est pas la même, on nous informe que celle réservé avec hotels.com n'est pas ouverte car pas de monde mais que c'est le même proprio et qu'on doit payé 200 pesos de plus par nuit, on doute de la véracité de cela mais Creel est un petit village et on s'en rendrait compte tout de suite, alors on paye mais on verra avec hotels.com car eux nous disent que c'est la faute a hotels.com. La chambre était grande, il y avait du chauffage, c'est correct pour l'endroit. On avait pris avec repas, mais c'est de la bouffe typiquement mexicaine alors pour nous pas fameux, j'aurais préféré sans repas. J'ai trouvé cheep qu'on nous donne 2 petites bouteille d'eau a l'arrivée et après on doit aller en acheter! Le wifi était pas terrible ça entrait et partait tout le temps, pas question de parler via skype ou envoyer des photos. Pour les tours ils se font avec l’hôtel et c'est ok.

Hace un tiempo me hospedé en casa margaritas pero me mandaron al edifico que ahora se llama plaza mexicana margaritas, en el edificio de casa margaritas hace falta mucha atención

Hotel agradable cerca de calle principal

Buen hotel, acorde con lo que se paga, se incluye desayuno y cena pero solo es un platillo el que se prepara, no hay opción de escoger, aun así la comida esta decente, no esta de mas hablar unos días antes al hotel para confirma la reservación.

Cuando llegamos al hotel no contaban con mi habitación disponible ya que no tenia la reservación q había hecho en expedia a pesar de que estaba confirmada, lo cual hizo muy incomoda mi estadia ya que tuve q estarme cambiando de un lugar a otro y decidimos mejor irnos antes ya que pague un lugar y tuve q dormir en otro lado que no contaba con las condiciones que originalmente yo había contratado, por lo que me tuve que ir antes de lo previsto.

Desde las habitaciones hasta el servicio de cada uno de os trabajadores, uno se siente como en casa, el hotel esta super bonito y limpio.

No respetaron mi reserva

Cuando hice la reserva a través de Expedia, pagué 2 noches de habitación con 2 camas matrimoniales. Al llegar al hotel me comentaron que no era válida, que no tenían esas tarifas y que han tenido muchos problemas con este tipo de páginasy que por la cantidad que había pagado sólo me podían dar una habitación con una cama matrimonial, o bien, pagar una diferencia para que me dieran la habitación de 2 camas matrimoniales.. yo ya llevaba mi presupuesto por lo que acepté lo que me dieron.

Descuidaban mucho la recepción y los alimentos eran mejor en su otro Hotel, Plaza Margarita's.

El Hotel es agradable y tiene buena ubicación

No respetan las reservaciones de Hoteles.com

La reservación no fue respetada por el Hotel... Ante eso, recibimos mala atención de la recepcionista de este hotel, que nos mandó muy despotamente a una sucursal, en la cual tampoco tenían disponibilidad, la atención en esta sucursal fue mejor y nos ayudaron a \"resolver\" el problema, sin embargo, no estuve satisfecha con la relación calidad/costo de la habitación recibida, la acepté por que no tenía otra opción. Por otro lado, la atención de Hoteles.com ante este inconveniente fue muy buena.

Definitivamente uno de los mejores lugares..

Servicio de traslado de la estacion al hotel sin costo, cena y desayuno incluido, habitaciones muy agradables. Facilidad de tours con ellos mismos. Todo muy bien en general!!

Sólo para estar un rato

No hay nadie de planta que esté al pendiente de las necesidades de los clientes, así como que el desayuno y la cena se sirven en otro hotel; el hotel sólo cuenta con un ventilador, y en temporadas de calor no es suficiente.

El mejor hotel de la zona

El hotel esta en una muy buena zona del pueblo, aunque es pequeño.
Sus habitaciones son perfectas, tienes calentador y suficientes cobijas. Los baños y en general el cuarto esta muy limipio.
