Lovely, warm and atmospheric place. I felt comfortable in the charming environment but, on a practical level, my room had a rather pungent chemical cleaner smell that didn’t go away.
As others have mentioned, the shower I used (shared bathroom) had little pressure and, I’m loath to say, did not have a clean floor.
The rest of the communal bathroom was very clean.
My other gripe was the balcony in the front … my room was off this and, despite the 9pm, curfew on the balcony, people were chatting there way after that time. Perhaps it could be closed off?
But it’s a unique place, the staff were lovely, and the location fabulous.

Circa 1902 is the most delightful place to stay in Queenscliff!
The room was clean and most attractive. The contact there with whom I dealt (Sally) was most welcoming and helpful - I couldn't have wished for better!
I'll certainly return to Circa 1902 when I next stay again in Queenscliff.

The staff were gorgeous, the room was great, food at the restaurant was delicious!

Sadly smoking is only outside the property completely... which isnt great first thing in the morning or last thing at night. Also the shared bathroom is fine, they're done the best they can with the space - but a little much sometimes for the price of the stay.

That said - would definitely go back. The staff really made the stay beautiful.

No staff, my friend and i had an \"alone in Hogwarts experience \".
It was a wonderful being alone for the night in such an old hotel.
The facilities were fine and the shared bathroom above expectations. Perhaps though a light could be left on over the stares for arrival.
We are hoping for a repeat trip next year.

I liked the charm of the old building and the price of the room.
What I didn’t like was -
1. Nobody to welcome us at checkin, just a text message with our room number and key
2. No comfortable lounge area that you would expect in a guest house
3. No water pressure in the female shower
4. None working smoke alarm in room
5. My husband said hello to a gentleman, not sure who he was but we think he may have been the owner. He did not introduce himself nor did he ask who we were
* I suppose you get what you pay for but I would have expected more

Circa 1902 is a charming old hostelry with a great restaurant on the ground floor and eas angle parking out front. Daytime restrictions dont matter as you are out and about. It is central and convenient, and clean. The shared bathrooms are a bit poky but manageable. Staff are super friendly and helpful and the door is open mos tof the day. A reading light would have been a useful fitting and bedside located powerpoints. But a great stay and I will be back.

While the building has character, everything is in need of a refresh, especially the men's bathroom. I am happy to share bathroom facilities, but didn't realise it was a shared bathroom between many rooms. One toilet and a shower is not sufficient for the amount of guests staying. Room was clean, but the bed was very wonky.

Upon check in, Sally the owner was there to greet us with warm & genuine enthusiasm. The rooms were large and spacious although a ceiling fan would’ve been great. The female shared bathroom were huge and recently renovated. Beds had mattress topper & I slept like a baby even in the 32 degree night. Has a cafe & restaurant with delicious offerings with avail to do room service. Even had carafes of fresh water on the landing for guests & small kitchenette if u wanted to use.right in the heart of town within walking distance to beach, jetty and rail. Would definitely recommend. Thank you, Kim barcellona

The location and building are outstanding, especially as everything was within walking distance. Parking was easy too. It was a shame that the little things were missing...milk for the tea and coffee, clean cups and spoons, enough toilet paper for the bathroom and water pressure for the shower.

Wasn't expecting too much since it was kind of cheap but the mattress was really bad, men's bathroom was bit dirty and afterall, $125 felt too much for what we got. I wouldn't expend too long in this place, but for an overnight stay, it'd do it

Property is old and beautiful, but needs a lot of improvements. There was no staff available during our stay. Men’s bathroom was awkward with doors not locking properly and female bathroom was remodeled but the shower pressure was poor in one stall. The entire place was dark and dreary with musty smells. The place would benefit from a complete remodel.

Lovely old building but poorly appointed accommodation and poorly maintained. Friendly obliging owners but hardly ever around. Very nice restaurant downstairs that operates from Wednesday to Sunday. It closes early at 8:30 9:00 p.m. so no bother with noise level. Fabulous location. All day parking only available in side streets nearby. Amenities and facilities are not as mentioned - very poor quality. Best to bring everything that you may need for a more comfortable stay. It's hard to see how this accommodation gets three stars -perhaps it's because of the location.

We booked our room on Wotif, and upon arrival we found no one at the desk around 5 PM, so we contacted the number tied to the booking for Sally to figure out which room and key was ours. She promptly texted us the room number, but there was no envelope for the room we were assigned. Eventually after calling/texting Sally back multiple times with no answer, we found the key in the returned room key basket and saw that the room was not cleaned. We continued calling/texting Sally with no answer. We ended up having to find another hotel 45 minutes away. Wotif could also not reach the hotel to help us get a room or a refund. Sally texted us 2 hours after we attempted to check in and get help to ask if we needed any help. After we updated her on us having to stay somewhere else, both her and Wotif failed to get us a refund despite us not being provided the accommodation that we paid for.

Side note: the restaurant was not open at this time either even though the hours posted on google and at the restaurant itself said it would be.

Disappointed

Disappointed, the place looked beautiful from the outside and has a great location. But inside there is a sad air of neglect with paint peeling off walls, the mens bathroom has mould, furnishings are worn and tired, and it’s in desperate need of a deep clean with layers of dust visible in many places (on the fake plants, top of mirror in women’s bathroom, fireplace in bedroom).

It also felt like I was staying in a hostel with extra charges if you wanted your room cleaned during your stay or extra towels.

This is the first time I’ve left a review like this and I hope the feedback is taken onboard because it has potential to be lovely.

Wouldn’t recommend in the current state.

Stayed here whilst we went on the Blues Train. Easy walk from the ferry and to the train station. Shops, cafes etc on your doorstep. Lovely old building. Main door with after hours passcode needs attention, as we struggled to gain entry after many attempts, even with assistance from other returning guests. Lunch and dinner is available in their restaurant. Never saw any staff at check in or exit, just a staff member in the bar area.

Old world accommodation in the centre of town, very convenient to shopping and restaurants and the station for Blues & Q Train. Whilst the building is old and remains in original character, some upgrades to the shared bathroom facilities would be a good investment, however if you’re after a comfy large bed for a 1 night stay, this accommodation is satisfactory!
