Top class hotel. Excellent room, staff, and restaurant. The wines and wine tour (on site) were excellent. We do not recommend driving in from the north through the mountains, it is very treacherous. Only drive via Regua on N222.

Our stay at Quinta de La Rosa was absolutely perfect. First of all, the property is beautiful. The rooms are large and have everything you need, including complimentary craft beers. The restaurant was one of the best we had in Portugal with the best red wine I’ve had. Their complimentary breakfast was also amazing. We had to leave early before breakfast on our last day and they offered to give us take home breakfast which I’ve never experienced at any other hotel. 13/10 would definitely recommend!

OMGosh this is the prettiest hotel. Right on the Douro River. Every nook is a surprise. All the rooms are slightly different so choose wisely and be specific. We had a wonderful dinner in the the restaurant. All the food was very good, just be aware if you have food restrictions etc. as \"no dairy/milk\" seems to be get confused. Just ask to speak to someone who knows as they actually pride themselves on being able to accomodate Gluten and Dairy free . Having said this, the breakfast is super nicely done. You will not be dissappointed.

Pictures of the property in expedia does not make justice of the beautiful place and surroundings. All rooms face the amazing Douro River. Waking up and opening the windows for the sun to come in with the river view was priceless. The nights are so peaceful and quiet. Friends and families stayed with us and loved as well. This was my 3rd time staying at QdLR, yet I think this is my first review of the property(?). This is a solid gem in Pinhão. Although about 0.5 km from the town, the location means it is quiet. Wonderful, spacious room, excellent restaurant, and scrumptious breakfast, not to mention great wines and ports from the on-site winery. I had the trip from hell to get here and arrived late. They made certain I had dinner available and had a bottle of wine waiting in my room. They took great care of this weary traveler, which just enamored me even more with the place. Although my stay was barely over 14 hours, I will be back!

If you are traveling to the Douro Valley, you must stop for a night and stay and experience this spectacular place. We started with a fantastic wine and port tasting and tour. Excellent! Then we checked into our fabulous room with an amazing views of the river and town of Pinhao. Dinner at their restaurant was nothing short of spectacular. Service, ambience and taste were all five stars. Th en their listing of a complimentary continental breakfast is misleading. This is like continental breakfast we’ve been offered. It was a full spread of a fresh fruit, eggs, toast, assorted meats, pancakes, yogurt, assortment of fresh cheeses, fresh juice's, full selection of coffees, danishes, breads and on and on. So much and so delicious.

Absolutely lovely setting! The room was a nice size and had a lovely outdoor sitting area overlooking the river. The breakfast was very good and the restaurant was attractive. There were however, some things that could be improved. First, the walk to our room was somewhat strenuous with luggage in tow. This would not have been so bad if the staff member walking us to our room slowed down a bit when we started huffing and puffing to keep up. Next, there are not coffee makers in the rooms, just hot pots to boil water - you need to take the coffee pods provided to a local \"living room\" to make coffee. Information provided about the hours of operation for the wine store and Tim's Terrace were inconsistent across printed material and what we were told at check-in. We had planned to have a light, early dinner at the Terrace but after ordering our drinks, it started to drizzle and the place shut down immediately. This left no dining options other than the restaurant where we ate the night before. We didn't go back because the menu was not that extensive and our waiter was a bit inattentive. All in all, not a terrible experience but the little inconveniences stacked up over our time there.

Simply beautiful property, accomodation well designed and to a high standard, spotlessly clean. Wonderful views, lovely small swimming pool, gorgeous grounds that are well maintained. Loved the wine tasting experience and the complimentary guide to the winery which was very interesting. Had a lovely meal in the restaurant one night and enjoyed eating out on Tim’s Terrace early evening in the sun with beautiful views of the river. Be mindful that depending on which accomodation booked you may have a bit of a walk from the main reception and parts are quite steep. You are reminded in the booking information it is not a hotel therefore to be aware not all hotel services are available. Notwithstanding it is a fabulous place and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there, highly recommend it.

Wow. What an amazing Quinta with picture perfect views. We had no idea how much we’d love staying on this property and only wish we could’ve stayed another day (at least) instead of just two nights. The vastness of wine country, the beauty of the perfectly planned vineyards, and the flowing river was easily appreciated from the two windows in our river front room, the terrace during breakfast, Tim’s Terrace for a delightful lunch, or the 24 hour outdoor pool where you can easily unwind. The staff are all kind. Shout out to Sara, who gave us and another couple a great tour of the winery. Be sure to book this if you stay here to get a lesson on port making and the history of the vineyard. The tasting in the cellar was a highlight of the stay. Dinner at the restaurant was tasty and convenient since dining options in Pinhão are limited (make reservations!) and the breakfast buffet was perfect. We were able to walk to our boat tour, Carvalhas and then to Bomfim and back but caution…it’s a dark walk back so you’ll need to use your phone’s flashlight. This was a better option for us rather than worrying about losing our parking spot right outside of our room. Yes, parking is tight but totally doable. While this property has a long history, the reception, restaurant, and tasting room are modern and the facilities and amenities are great. Heads up, lots of wasps, flies and a few mosquitoes being so close to the river, so be mindful when you’re eating on the terrace. Book this trip!

The pictures on Expedia and their website do not do justice to this place. It is a very impressive working winery and the rooms are well appointed. Breakfast and dinner in the restaurant were excellent though service was mixed when it was busy. My only complaint is that the ‘smoking area’ for diners is close to the outdoor terrace and with the prevailing wind it meant that you could smell and taste the cigaretttes at that end of the terrace - not pleasant when you are not used to it. I heard a number of diners complain about it. (Please move the smoking area, as it would make a very good experience perfect!) I would also recommend the walks around the vineyards that are described in the information booklet - though the red route is very steep up, the views are worth it.

Accommodation was comfortable with bedroom/bathroom upstairs and a nice sitting room on ground level. Highlights included the excellent restaurant (for both dinner and breakfast), and access to fantastic walks around the Douro valley (really recommend Pinhao/Casal de Loivos trek for incredible views...and wine tasting if desired). Staff were very attentive-even set us up with Champions League Football during our stay!!

Lovely view from our room, quiet (and large!). We stayed one night in March, so we weren't able to use the pool or patio but I imagine it would be close to perfect. Know that there isn't a 24-hour desk...this is not a large hotel...and plan the early checkout accordingly. A quick walk to the boat docks and little town.

Our visit to QDLR was fantastic. It was low season and relatively quiet. Comfy beds, good pillows, fabulous breakfast and we had dinner there one night and it was excellent. It was rainy and cold so we only tried the short hike but the area is beautiful and we hope to return when the weather is better.

We loved this charming and delightful working winery.
Please note, as they state, this is not a hotel! It does not have 24/7 concierge! We waited about half hour when we arrived (beautiful scenery; glad it wasn't raining). We also needed to walk about 7/10 of a mile to the train station with luggage in the dark down a road without sidewalks, because Uber wasn't an option at 7:15 a.m. Having a taxi number would have been helpful. In the room, there was a great list of recommendations and 2 complimentary beers.
Food was great. We had dinner, happy hour, and breakfast at the quinta, and they even packed us a breakfast to go for the morning that we had to leave early. Really appreciated that!

Coffee is plentiful, however, during breakfast, which provides an array of options, including fresh-squeezed orange juice and on the day we were there, the special was \"chocolate porridge,\" steel-cut oats topped with fresh coconut, walnuts, and banana. Delicious!

Please note, as they state, this is not a hotel! It does not have 24/7 concierge! We waited about half hour when we arrived (beautiful scenery; glad it wasn't raining). We also needed to walk about 7/10 of a mile to the train station with luggage in the dark down a road without sidewalks, because Uber wasn't an option at 7:15 a.m. Having a taxi number would have been helpful. In the room, there was a great list of recommendations and 2 complimentary beers.
Food was great. We had dinner, happy hour, and breakfast at the quinta, and they even packed us a breakfast to go for the morning that we had to leave early. Really appreciated that!

Absolutely brilliant. A beautiful hotel set in stunning surroundings. The people were so friendly and professional. The service was as good as anywhere I have been. The room was spotless. The quality of everything here exceeded our expectations. We assumed it was just a working winery. It's that and so much more. Luxurious accommodations, beautiful grounds, multiple swimming pools, upscale restaurant. We did a couple of tours, both vineyard and winery with tasting. Both were very well done. Highly recommend.

Spectacular winery/hotel/restaurant perched high on the banks of the Douro just five minutes outside of Pinhao. Parking a challenge, but beautiful, spacious, well-appointed rooms. Lovely refreshing pool just outside our room. Stunning views, excellent tour of the winery and tasting, the in house restaurant is superb. Rooms were spotless and the pool has the most mesmerising view of the Douro. Tim’s Terrace serves great light bites and drinks. My new favourite drink is now white port and tonic! Highly recommend!

I could not rate this villa enough!! I want to come back again already!! I loved it here. It’s a mix between luxury & country side escape but in the vineyards! The views are divine and the restaurants on offer here are beyond exceptional - we ended up dining daily. Must go!

The property is set in a beautiful location along the river, with a nice pool, vineyard and nice restaurant. The quality of the food in both restaurants was great, and staff friendly. There is no TV in the spacious rooms, which was a nice touch and added to the enjoyment of the property.
The only downside was the limited opening hours of the bar and restaurant, and having to pre-plan all your meals.

The Quinta de la Rosa is absolutely fantastic! The views are spectacular, and the property offers many relaxing vantage points from where to enjoy them. Our room was very large and comfortable. The pool is wonderful - big, with plenty of sun chairs and beautiful views. The restaurant is outstanding! All the food was top quality and delicious. Highly recommend - if you are thinking of staying in the Douro, do not miss this one!!!

The surroundings were outstanding. Beautiful view of the Douro river. Great restaurants and staff. Amazing breakfasts. Unfortunately two very loud and obnoxious groups of other guests who basically took over the pool area on two out of three of the days we were there. Lots of drinking and shouting and in general complete lack of concern for other guests and leaving a large mess making it impossible for other guests to enjoy the same space. I would suggest that no bottles of wine be allowed near the pool. Guests can drink one glass at a time but should not be allowed to purchase bottles and drink them in public spaces. At least 6 bottles of wine were consumed during the time that the guests were there. This should be communicated to the guests when they check in. It was complete lack of consideration on the part of the guests.

Really enjoyed my stay at Quinta de la Rosa. The pools were lovely to relax around and the hills were lovely to wander through. The room and shower were perfect as well—and the mini bar was an excellent cherry on top. You can also easily walk to and from the hotel into town (although I wouldn’t recommend the walk up there with your bags).

Great one night stay in Douro Valley
I absolutely loved this place. Views were great and views were nice. Only issue I encountered is with the height of the cabinet above the toilet. The hotel should really remove those cabinets. I'm not sure if it's in every room but in the room I was in, if you're taller than 5'9, you're going to need to contend with hitting your head on it a few times before you adapt. It's really poorly placed. Other than that, everything else was perfect.
