Lovely lodge downtown Wellsboro. Clean, spacious, easy parking, easy walk to diner and downtown area and kind, helpful staff. I wish we could have stayed more. Highly recommend!
Elizabeth
Very close to restaurants and shops.
Richard
Very nice. They don’t have a restaurant or bar as claimed but it’s only a block away

Paul
overall it was a good choice

The morning breakfast buffet with eggs and sausage and all the continental breakfast items such as juice, water, coffee, bagels etc. Was excellent start to the day.
The room was very nice, did not have a small refrigerator in our room. Double bed was comfortable with nice light with two electric plug outlets right on top of night stand. Parking was right there. Staff was nice and informative.

Very clean with friendly staff a good value
Paul
Dated room, bathroom was clean but needed a renovation, card reader only worked on inside door, not on the door to the parking lot.
Ronald
Bathroom was dated, and would have liked if the breakfast area was cleaned up after others ate. Rooms were clean, lobby was nice and location is excellent.
Mary
Friendly staff. Very clean and welcoming. The pool and hot tub were a nice bonus. Penn Wells is a good value for the money. We would gladly stay there again....
Larry

Zhenying

Jim
Clean and quiet room. Excellent breakfast. Good selection served on real dinnerware !
Brad
Breakfast was delicious! The food choices were fresh, presented in a pleasing fashion and real dishes to eat from!!! We were thrilled not to eat cold, processed food served on styrofoam!!! Staff was very friendly giving direction to an excellent family owned restaurant. Parking was on site and safe. Our stay was very enjoyable and relaxing. I would highly recommend this facility.
Elizabeth
Staff were excellent. We enjoyed our 2 night stay. Highlights were the pool, hot tub, breakfast, walking to restaurants and shops. Room could use a little updating, but would stay again.
John
Breakfast was hot and fresh
Stacey
Lovely stay
Robert
The staff was great. The rooms ok. The mattresses were so old they definitely need to be replaced. Was counting on a bar being in the loby but it was in the other motel down the block
Nelson
The breakfast was disappointing, but the hotel is very comfortable and clean. The staff are very friendly and courteous. I enjoy my stay at this hotel.
Susie
The OJ and bagels were excellent. I liked that the yogurt was no fat and had calcium and vitamin D added.
Everett
Great location.
Michael
Staff was very friendly. The room was clean & well maintained. Breakfast in the morning was much better than your average hotel.
Robert
Friendly helpful staff, good breakfast, quiet clean room close to shopping
Donald
The Lodge is charming with a big fireplace and comfy seating in the lobby. The complimentary breakfast is delicious, with eggs, potatoes and sausage plus yogurt, breads, bagels and cereal and coffee, tea and fruit juices. The location on main street is perfect to walk the charming streets of Wellsboro. The rooms were clean and everyone is small town friendly. Highly recommend!
Barry
Always a great stay at the Penn Wells! Paige at the front desk was outstandingly helpful!
John

Gina
It was wonderful place to stay and would stay there again
Richard
Good overall! No heat in the bathroom wasn’t so good but we managed!
Lori
Clean, quiet, spacious, and comfortable room, polite staff, and good breakfast provided. The kitchenette had adequate plates, cups, and utensils. Our room was listed as handicapped but other than the door access button and bar in the tub, it didn’t appear to be handicapped accessible. We did not use the heated pool. The lodge was a short, easy walk to area businesses. The comfortable lobby was beautifully decorated for Christmas.
Kelly
We stayed here in the fall of 2025. The hotel was clean, quiet, and within walking distance of many restaurants and shops in town. The staff was very helpful and friendly.
Deanna
Great service, clean rooms as usual!
Kimberly B
The staff is lovely and the Lodge is definitely a little dated but the service and location are excellent. We didn’t have hot water for our shower but that’s really the only thing I can comment on. All in all a wonderful stay with great service and friendly staff.
Pamela
We had a wonderful stay at the Lodge! Staff was very friendly and helpful; room was clean and cozy and there were multiple places to eat and shop nearby.
Bill
The breakfast was fresh and the parking was very good.
Norman
Very clean. Spotless rooms. Highly recommended.
Patricia
Staff were mostly friendly except for the elderly woman at the desk. She never really greeted us or said anything to us whenever we were in the lobby. Breakfast was so so. Room was clean and comfortable and there was plenty of parking.
Deborah
My husband and I stayed in a King Suite with a fireplace. It was spacious, clean and comfortable for our 4 night stay.
Laura
The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially the kitchen staff who prepared breakfast every morning. They were the BEST at keeping it clean and stocked from beginning to end. The hot breakfast was a great start to each day.
The lounging area and fireplace are cozy and comfortable. We used the pool and jacuzzi also which were clean and well-maintained. It is the cleanest jacuzzi we've ever experienced and it didn't smell of chemicals. They empty and clean it often. Incredible!
The rooms were also kept clean and yet we never saw the housekeeping staff do it. We called them our Room Fairies and they did a wonderful job.
The location is perfect. We ate at the Penn Wells Hotel and highly recommend it! The food quality was excellent and surprisingly reasonably-priced and the historic atmosphere is an experience I'm glad we didn't miss.
We can't wait to return!

It’s been several years since my last stay at Penn Wells Lodge. Disappointed at condition of the interior and our room. It wasn’t dirty, just getting run down since my last visit.
Melissa

Bed was uncomfortable needs new mattress. Also there were several marks on walls that a simple paint brush would have covered. Felt we totally overpaid for this room.
Staff was very nice and breakfast was quite sufficient.

One of best lodge experiences ever. Huge room with two sinks, four chairs, private patio. Great shower and decent towels. Simple parking right outside the front door. Lots of restaurants and neat shops within a few blocks. Swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi which is also available to community for a fee. Microwave down the hall to reheat leftovers that you couldn’t finish during last night’s dinner. The tissues weren’t the softness we prefer, but, hey, with so many amenities, who’s complaining?
I’ll recommend to friends and hope to return one day.
Decent variety for breakfast included.

Our room was very quiet. The pool is large clean .and heated. The breakfast was good. Wellsboro is a beautiful little town that has shopping and lots of dining options and they are very walkable from the hotel. The hotel staff could not have been nicer. Great stay!
Mark
Will certainly return
Charles
Friendly staff, very nice facility with a good exercise room
Elaine
The carpeted floor in our room was filthy and sticky. In order to not walk on it in bare feet, we wore socks, which were black after only an hour of walking around in the room. The bathroom sink was surrounded by woefully inadequate space to put one's personal items (toothbrush, toothpaste, etc.) and the floor was also sticky. The motel was in desperate need of cleaning and renovation. Desk personal did not offer us anything in the way of compensation. Air conditioning unit was blocked by two over-sized chairs and a table, blocking cool air coming from it. NOT RECOMMENDED. Try the hotel one block away -- hopefully, that's cleaner and in better shape.
Leesa
My stay was excellent. I was impressed how clean the facility was. The breakfast buffet was very enjoyable. I will definitely stay here again.
Jan
I was very disappointed that the room we had reserved was a king sized bedroom on the second floor of the Motor Inn. The floor where our room was did not have an elevator. My significant other has back problems. We asked for a different king sized room. Unfortunately, they did not have another king sized room. We were forced to take a room with two queen sized beds, which was a big disappointment. They did \"upgrade\" us to a suite but I was much more interested in the king bed.
Kimberly
Stop over on our way back home. Great location, great pool, nice breakfast
Emilie
Very convenient location for a visit to Wellsboro. The indoor pool, sauna, and hot tub are great - locals have memberships to use these facilities and will chat with you if you use them. This property is older, and not luxurious, but overall really nice. We like the free breakfast, too!
Kimberly
Room was clean, staff were friendly. Convenient location.
Michelle
Great rxcpt the pool needs a paintng
Eric
Hotel was clean and well maintained. Breakfast was what you would expect from a hotel free breakfast. Early morning coffee was great. Staff were extra helpful and friendly.
Christina
Nice hotel with pool and hot tub. Rooms were larger than expected. Breakfast was okay for hotel food. We stayed in room 252 which didnt have elevators to the 2nd floor. The bed definitely needs replaced. Quiet and clean. Would stay here again when visiting the PA Grand Canyon.
Daniel
Nice vacation
It was a very nice day. Walked around town, did a little window shopping and regular shopping. Went down to the park. We ate at the steakhouse on Main Street which was very good. We tried to use the Old Wagon down the canyon and couldn't do it
Debra
The entire building was spotless. Sandy at the front desk was extra kind and helpful. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely go back.
Malinda
Surroundings felt safe. Plenty of places to eat within walking distance. Breakfast was provided but not appetizing. Staff was very nice. Room had a lot to be desired. Our room had a door to the outside and a door to the inside so it felt more like a low class motel, with cars parked outside the door. The room had a nasty dirty house odor. Luckily, there was a grocery store across the street to buy air fresheners for our room. Beds were used beyond their years and was like sleeping on pillows. We were given a connecting room and we could hear everything in the adjoining room, as if we were all in the same room. Will not return again.
Lisa
The staff was super friendly and helped us deal with our check in issue immediately and returned my call within the hour
Barbara
All the staff were helpful and exceptional. The facility was beautiful, the only complaint I have is to purchase new bed pillows, they were flat and not comfortable.
Mary A
Everyone was friendly, great parking, things to do and breakfast was good.
Jack and Linda
Very nice place
I felt very at home here. The room was spacious, clean and and well furnished. I liked bright light in the bathroom and two sinks was a plus as well. There was a nice table and two high backed chairs with a floor lamp for reading. Great stuff. Only one significant complaint is the \"whitener, \"colorant a cafe ou the\". It has no dairy content and can only ruin your coffee, which turns muddy. This stuff is beyond sub-par. The owners should try this out themselves!!
Pamela
Nice property and very clean. Staff was nice.
The mattress was soft with wasn’t for us, but the room was lovely.

Rooms are dated and need modern amenities like USB ports for phones. Bathroom had tiny sink with no countertop.
Kim
Accomodations were excellent. Staff was very helpful and friendly. I will definitely choose this hotel in the future when I’m in the area.
Kitty
Beautiful and modern historic hotel!
A perfect stay from start to finish. The hotel is very aesthetically pleasing . We love how they incorporated the original history with the new renovations.
Our room was very clean and comfortable.
All the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpfull. We look forward to our next visit!

Excellent staff, so very nice and helpful. It was late and my iPhone was almost completely without a charge. I had forgotten my charging block and stopped by the front desk to ask if there was a 24 hour convenience store and she noticed I was carrying my charging wire without the block and asked if I needed a charging block and she said she believed there was a spare handy and she found it immediately. I was so glad. Again thank you ladies.

Stay away
Stay away. Bargain pricing should have told us something right from the start. Was to spend 2 days biking the PA Grand Canyon but left a day early because lodge was pretty disgusting.
The public areas and stairwells are littered with cigarette butts and are truly filthy. A used coffee cup, 1/2 filled with old coffee and cigarette butts, sat on the stairs for the 24 hours we stayed. A power wash might take care of it but I don’t believe there’s anybody there who could do it. The staff all sit around in the lobby/breakfast area and talk to each other most of the day…felt like we were intruding.
The rooms were just beaten to death…not dirty but a bathroom door that wouldn’t close properly, old carpeting, paint scratched off of the trim and an overall damness.
Breakfast was decent with a toasted bagel, cereal and pre-made cheese omelettes.
The indoor pool was obviously the huge draw for families with young children.

It was great! Would recommend this place.

The place was clean. Our room was in the old part of the lodge. The room was very worn, electrical outlets were only two prong, and most of them were so loose the plugs just fell out. Bathroom door was warped, it could barely be closed, and could only be opened with a huge bang.

Had everything I wanted for a single night. Comfortable, clean, safe, easy to find, right in the middle of a nice town (Wellsboro). Decent breakfast included. Indoor pool, which I did not use.

Nice place to stay.
The first time I stayed the room was fantastic 2 queen beds, the second time I stayed ( I chose 2 double beds) the room was not as nice. No refrigerator or microwave in the room and the bathroom was not as spacious. The breakfast could use an upgrade. I was happy enough though that I came back a second time. Love the pool and jacuzzi and the bigger rooms. Hotel staff are very nice.

So glad they had a spa and a pool, which was refreshing after cycling the pine creek rail trail.
