NOTE: I was moved the the Wellsboro Lodge. I didn’t stay at the historic hotel. From the outside of the hotel I was glad I was moved. The Lodge has an older section and a new section. I was given a room in the older section, ground floor, with a patio view but the curtains didn’t close and I requested a different room. I was given a room in the newer section. The second room was much nicer. Parking on site was perfect. There is a shopping area immediately across the street -CVS and a full grocery store. The room had a mini fridge, microwave and adjustable air conditioning. Free breakfast included. Has a gym and pool.

This historic hotel in Wellsbro. It had a major hotel in the 1920’s and is ready for another one. It has a great history. The staff were excellent you just have to remember that it is a very old hotel right in the middle of town. Very clean.

The hotel is retro and quirky, which was charming. The staff overall were not friendly. There was no heat in the room. The plumbing was interesting, the toilet would “burp” when the room above us flushed and the sink drained slowly. Very limited hotel restaurant/bar hours, closing at 8PM.

The town was quaint, convenient to restaurants and cute shops. I liked the historic feel of the hotel and thought the bedding and bathrooms were clean. However, the carpeting in the room , hallway and stairway should be replaced. The appearance and staining took away from the otherwise tidy feeling.

This was such a great place to stay for our visit to the PA Grand Canyon. The hotel was very cool, the staff super friendly, nice breakfast included in the am. Wonderful dinner in the tavern inside. Parking right out back and everything in town you could walk to. I would return here in a heartbeat next time I come to Wellsboro!

This is a charming slice of history that is run by dedicated staff wo want your stay to be spoecial and comfortable. If you are used to spanking new hotels you will find some of the features quaint (instructions on how to operate a radiator valve on checking in) but the beds are comfortable and clean and the showers are great and hold a steady temperature. The various dining options should suit your mood - and if not, there are plenty of other options right outside the door.

This is a fantastic historical hotel. The charm of the old building, decor, and aesthetics was delightful. Everything was easy and there are some great staff members. Check in was AMAZING !!!!!! Excellent friendly service but the property is very old. While very charming and very authentic as keys are still used, it is very dated. I felt very safe but it also had that “ shining here’s Johnny” vibe. The bed in room 231 is very comfortable I was very pleased with my stay

If you don't like cookie cutter mega chain hotels, this is a beautiful place to stay. Comfortable room. Historical hotel in a great area. Real room keys. Not a magnetic card. Nice lounge. Good breakfast buffet. The worst thing I could say is there are some cracks in the bathroom tiles. Doesn't affect the overall feeling of the place. Adds character.

In a beautiful town, and the building is historic and well kept. Very nice restaurant with indoor and outdoor dining.

My only complaint was that there was no closet or even a clothes hook in my room. I had to hang clothes on the doorknob.

The other thing, less of a concern, is the sink was an old-fashioned type with separate hot and cold faucets. Not that big a deal.

Oops, one other thing. Don't touch the steam radiator valves until they turn on the boiler. I opened mine before that, and it was way too much and overheated the room.

Staff was great. Very helpful person at the desk, who gave me a pitcher with water and ice and a glass when the vending machine upstairs was out. More than that, he was friendly and helpful throughout my visit, even recommending some good sites to see on a walk.

This was the Historic Penn-Wells hotel. It was like stepping beck in time. Dave, who was behind the counter when we arrived early evening, could not have been any nicer and accommodating. Very helpful in giving directions to the PA Grand Canyon. Their continental breakfast was very good, and lots of it. The theme in this hotel was based around its' history, and even the soft music that played while we were eating, was definitely from the early 1900's and carried on the theme. It was very enjoyable. I would recommend this experience to anyone.

It was like stepping into the Wayback Machine and returning to the Gilded Age of the late 1800’s. The architectural features (hexagonal bathroom floor tiles, steam radiators, vaulted ceilings with crystal chandeliers, framed historical photographs of the area, etc etc). You get the idea. We could have spent an extra day just exploring the nooks and crannies of the building.

The breakfast buffet was filling and offered a variety of good food.

Good value for the money.

Wellsboro is a delightfully quaint small town. The buildings along Main Street and side streets are a photographer’s dream come true. Don’t miss the Tioga County Courthouse!

Liked the history of the hotel and its location in Wellsboro. The lobby, dining room and lounge were well appointed and comfortable. Staff were pleasant and helpful.
Guest room was clean but very plain. Nothing on the walls, fire suppression piping all exposed below ceiling (distracting). Bathroom mirror way too low, had to stoop to see in mirror while shaving.

Located in downtown wellsboro within walking distance to shoppes and restaurants, this hotel is a throwback in a good way. The staff was attentive and pleasant. The lobby and rooms were clean and functional with modern amenities, but had the feel of another era, giving me a taste of what life might have been like in another time. Breakfast was good also, my kids loved the chocolate raspberry muffins.

We like to check out old hotels and tbe Wellsboro was a nice one. Previously stayed in the sister Wellsboro Lodge. Very unique, lots of history, artifacts and architecture. Free breakfast and parking in the center of town.

Shabby - shabby - chic Historic Pennwells.

Pros: Lots of character. Very friendly staff - but everyone is friendly in Wellsboro. Good restaurant and tavern on site. They share the same menus. The interiors of each are unique and terrific. The hotel is in the center of town and walkable to everything.

Cons: old and shabby - but it's a bit cool at the same time.

The old gal’s got life in her yet!

This hotel shows its age with worn furnishings and grungy bathroom grout, but the bed was very comfortable and the room very quiet midweek. We walked the block + to the sister hotel, the Penn Wells Lodge, for the complimentary hot breakfast, which was tasty.

Classic old charm....and I mean lots and loads of charm. Decent free breakfast and on site dinning. In center of village so walking about is a must. We visited to view the stars at Cherry Springs which is 45 minutes away.
The rooms are small compared to most hotels and our bed was a bit soft for me but just right for my partner. I will gladly take a smaller room just to stay at this hotel.
The staff is soo friendly and helpful for directions and recommendations. Place gets a 10 .

This is an antique hotel. I found that charming in the lobby that overlooks Main St and in the Dining Room. The room was clean and well maintained. The fixtures were antique. and working. Don't expect a new Hampton Inn experiance in the room. This hotel is very well situated on Main St with lots of dining options in a block or two, even a movie theater.

The lobby was charming but the charm ends there. The beds made squeaky noises with any motion and the pillows were flat. The bed linen was nice. Bathroom was so small that you had to sit at an angle on the toilet. The bathroom ceiling had mold and drains very noisy. Breakfast was ok. Staff was pleasant. Location convenient and parking was free. We would not recommend this hotel.

The staff was wonderful and so was the food in the hotel's restaurant. However, as an \"historic\" property, its rooms are much smaller and cramped than modern rooms. I have no idea how a \"plus-sized\" person would be able to use the toilet in our room. It was in an alcove that wasn't much wider than the toilet itself.

This is a historic hotel with a place on the national register for the same. As such, it shows its age, but it's always fun to stay in such venues. The dining room and lounge continue to function, offering varied menus, that were well-prepared and well-served.
