Everything was great with the exception of food and drink options. Drove 35 min away and had good dinner and drinks.

Kind of my fault because I checked in on a Sunday. So the resturaunt and bar were closed at 4p on Sunday and all day Monday. Was a little dissapointed that I wasnt provided with info about breakfast at check in. I wouldve paid $10 and ordered, if I knew about it prior to 10am.

Also. Booked a lake view room. It was partial view. Wouldve been nice to have full view being its off season.

Nonetheless. Beautiful property. Friendly staff. Plan to stay again when its warm outside.

Oakwood is always a beautiful place to stay. Even though I usually check-in late after delayed flights to South Bend. The rooms are clean, the lobby smells good, and the staff are extra helpful. The grab & go breakfast was a nice treat too! I absolutely recommend Oakwood to anyone staying in NE Indiana.

We LOVED this resort! Beautiful view, friendly staff, great food right on site, safe area. We drove to Indiana to go to a concert in Shipshewana. So glad we chose to stay here, so worth the short drive to the concert venue. If we ever go back to Indiana, we will plan it around staying here!

Oakwood Resort offered a peaceful and relaxing stay, made even more special by the beautiful view of the lake right from our room. The only aspect that felt out of place was the refrigerator—it stood openly in the room and would have looked more cohesive tucked into a cabinet that matched the furnishings.

Not quite as advertised

The hotel setting was better than the interior. The toilet flushed very poorly - weak and slow. The room had only one chair which made the bed the only other place to sit. For the price of the room one would expect glass rather than plastic cups and more than one serving of coffee. The carpeted stairs were stained with what looked like ongoing construction. The quality of the non weekend “breakfast” mocks the word breakfast. Other than that the views were wonderful, the bed and room temperature was very comfortable and the staff was friendly and accommodating. Would we stay there again- probably.

We were pretty comfortable. Black out shades would be good as a lot of light came into our room from the hallway around the corner leading to the restaurant. We were told the room would be cleaned every day, not a big deal to us, but it wasn’t although we were gone all afternoon both days with no sign on door. The breakfast was very good. Enjoyed the lakefront setting.

We had the best time at this resort! The views of Lake Wawasee are absolutely beautiful—especially at sunset. It’s such a peaceful and scenic place to unwind.

The food was seriously amazing. Every meal we had was delicious, and you can tell they put real care into the menu. Great variety and super fresh.

The tiki bar was one of our favorite hangout spots—great drinks, fun vibe, and right on the water. Perfect for kicking back in the evenings.

Overall, it’s just a great place to relax, eat well, and enjoy the lake. We’re already talking about coming back next summer!

I have never been so mad at a hotel. I paid for a room that was shown in the picture, turned out it wasn’t the same room at all, also the TV didn’t work and we tried to lower the temperature and it went down one degree all night. The person at check out said “well you don’t necessarily get the room in the picture” and I can put in a ticket for the TV but other than that you’ll have to talk to a manager (who was not there.) This was my first trip with my guest and it ruined my stay and therefore both of ours.

We've stayed at Oakwood a few times and it's always very clean, comfortable and well kept. However, this time we noticed that the air vent on our room was rusty and the flooring was coming loose and made funky slapping noises as we walked around our room. It seems like upkeep has gone a little downhill lately. That's sad to see because we really like staying here.

If you go in the early spring time and it by chance gets hot they do not turn air-conditioning on AT ALL until they shut down boiler system. Thats what we were told. Rooms were HOT at night.

I chose to stay here because I had heard good things about the resort and my wife and I were looking for a close getaway.
My check-in and checkout were smooth. The desk staff were always present, friendly and helpful. The public areas of the property were mostly in good condition, but our room clearly was falling into disrepair. The other negative was that on our way to breakfast in the morning there were construction guys swapping out the light fixtures so they had there tools all across the steps leading down to the front desk.

I was disappointed in the condition of the bathroom. The toilet was left dirty even after housekeeping 'cleaned'. The inside door frame paint was peeling

Really bad, avoid this place, it's not like it used to be:
1. old frappucino in fridge from prior guest (or prior prior, who knows?)
2. beetle in room flying around
3. refused to provide towels or service room as it had not been 3 days yet (never mind its not covid any more).
4. Even though their own sign said \"service every 3 days but if you'd like you can request it every day\". When I pointed that out, after their second refusal, they said, \"yeah, that sign is wrong.\"

Worse than all that is the lack of concern of the staff. Each issue was met with basically, \"yeah, that's just the way it is.\" Staff looked disinterested, bored, and not what I'd expect here, nor what I experienced a year ago. They have forgotten they are in hospitality business.

or toilet paper for our stay. Had to ask several times every day for towels. Needed to do some online work and there was never internet. We stayed several nights and there is no room cleaning service. With kids our room got pretty messy. Would have appreciated at least the garbage removed. Improvements to the beach area where appreciated and well enjoyed since our last visit 4 years ago.

Good, not great.

Hotel was ok...not great. Service was pretty good. There were a couple issues with our room (light in the bathroom and drain) and only one of the two was fixed. Not too many amenities, but that's to be expected with a small town hotel on the lake. Probably will go Airbnb next time.

The beach is small and tracks onto the sidewalk. Could have used more chairs along the waterfront and some in our near the large gazebo on the front lawn. It's a good looking building and the indoor decor is nice. I liked the pictures of the olden days in the corridor to the restaurant.

The room was clean, and the staff was friendly. We were very disappointed with the amenities. For instance, the private beach was tiny and had no chairs for the fire pit. The basketball and volleyball courts were ragged. The game room had very little. The restaurant food was pricey and tasteless. There was no continental breakfast on the weekends. I saw no “trails” or bike paths on the property. Calling it a resort was very misleading. To me, a resort should have enough to do that you need not leave unless you want to. There was nothing else to do nearby so it compounded the disappointment.

Staff are wonderful and the facility is clean and welcoming. The handicap bathroom is one of the best equipped I've ever stayed in. Bed is comfortable but as in many hotels it sits up too hi, especially for a handicap room. I had to drag a chair over to the bed so i could boost myself up.

This was the first time here, and we have to say this place is Awwsome. It remind\"s us of an old time mansion.. Beautifull stair's going all the way up to the third floor.this place is so clean . Beautiful place to stay

My boyfriend and I stayed at this beautiful resort for a weekend. It has absolutely breathtaking views. The rooms are simply decorated. Very well maintained and clean. The beds are soft and marshmallow like. Breakfast was delicious!! We highly recommend the chicken fried steak or breakfast mac and cheese. The grounds are wonderfully maintained and it was a great time to take a stroll around the them. As well as the surrounding neighborhood. If you like a nice weekend getaway this is the place to visit.
