Second visit to this lovely hotel. Staff are very friendly and clearly passionate about making your stay memorable.
Room was spacious and cosy,
Food was amazing and exciting, always great seeing a full restaurant.
Good selection of beers and I think I counted 42 bottles of gin tantalise the taste buds.
Breakfast was plentiful and relaxed.
Having my dog with me, the hotel is very dog friendly and a lovely welcome pack with them in the bedroom and breakfast bowls by the tables.
I can’t recommend this hotel enough, and enjoyed my repeat visit, and will be revisiting next summer.

The most dog friendly place we have been to & yet we left our dog behind - huge error! The most friendly staff, comfortable, homely surroundings, excellent breakfasts and very good cuisine generally. My little dog was welcomed with a mat, blanket, two bowls a new toy and bonios, which I thought was a lovely touch.
The hotel was comfortable and the staff were nice. It is in need of some updating. Also, I would suggest, for the room I had with the fire escape immediately outside the window, some vertical blinds, which can be positioned to let light in without having the fire escape fully on show.

I would stay again, perhaps in a different room.

Wow! What can we say! Fabulous hotel with the friendliest and most polite staff we’ve ever met! Right back to good old fashion British values and a refreshing change!
The room was lovely, very cosy, warm and very clean! Loved the hospitality tray!

Lovely location, relaxing stay

The Inn on the Moor in Goathland is a lovely, homely inn on the edge of the village, right beside the iconic garage from Heartbeat. Our room, number 5, was large and comfortable. Very nice bathroom, comfortable bed, windows that open (a pet peeve of mine when they don't!). My only suggestion is perhaps better pillows. They were a bit flat and hard. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The bar is a nice place to sit with a drink and the spacious dining areas were spotless and warm, even on a foggy, cold night. The food was very good - basically gastropub food. Our first night's dinner was better than the second, but both were good. Easy access to Whitby and Sandsend and a lovely drive across the Moors. Definitely recommend for a quiet and relaxing place to stay.

An amazing hotel, where I could not fault anything.
The front of house staff escorting us to our room was an unexpected part of the service, and a nice touch.
The room had a fantastic view of the moors covered in snow. Spacious and inviting, attention to detail offering coffee mugs as-well as tea cups.
The food was inspiring with a festive twist, the choices, being reasonable priced and delicious.
A fine selection of wine and beer to enjoy sat in front of an open fire.
All the staff very friendly and chatty, making you feel right at home.
the option of checking in and out online was hassle free and speeded up the arrival and departure process.
in summary, a beautiful friendly hotel in the heart of the countryside, one which i will be returning to to experience in the spring.

From booking in to booking out the staff were all brilliant, friendly & helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Very dog friendly too with a welcome pack for them. A lovely little property being run by wonderful people, doing a great job.
Considering the property is older, it is immaculately clean, the bathrooms are updated and all sheets and towels are new and well cared for. The breakfast was also very nice.

We had an absolute amazing stay at this hotel. The staff are amazing here. So friendly. Really helpful and friendly man who works in scripps garage and at the hotel bar. The food is amazing here and very reasonably priced. It feels like such a homely hotel and has a lot of history about it relating to heartbeat days and furthermore. We stayed in room 8 really nicely decorated and great room amenities. Bathroom was really nice. We stayed for 2 nights . The only negative about the room was the mattress. It’s definitely time for a new one. Very springy did not sleep to great . Didn’t mention anything as we were only there for 2 nights and the place is amazing in itself. Everything is very walkable including the waterfalls.reception staff very helpful with tips about the local area. Will 100 percent return . We are already planning our next visit thankyou !

We had a fabulous 4 days at the Inn on the Moor. We had a beautiful refurbished room, very clean, modern, plenty of room for all clothes shoes and bits and pieces. Fab bathroom and great shower.
The lounge area, conservatory, breakfast conservatory and bar area was very nicely done.
Food was amazing!!!! Breakfast, well what can I say anything you want really, Cereal, fruit, full cooked, toast etc etc and all served to the table.
Lunch and evening menus equally as fabulous.
From check-in to check-out all the staff were so welcoming and friendly
Thank you all for making our Yorkshire trip away so memorable.

A really wonderful stay. We were warmly welcomed when we got there and this set the tone for the rest of the stay. Food was unbelievably good, room lovely but it was the people who run the place and restaurant/bar that made it so great. We had to leave early and they did a special breakfast tray for us. Booked The Inn on the Moor not having been to the area before and was very pleased with the hotel. The staff could not have been more helpful or friendly. Food was also good and reasonably priced. The waiting staff were very understanding as I have a dairy allergy as was the chef. The hotel itself is a bit \"tired\" in places and could do with some work - our window would not shut properly as it seemed to be warped however I would still highly recommend The Inn on the Moor for a break. It is well placed for the moors as well as the coast at Whitby - the old town is well worth a visit.

Which was very disappointing due to the fact the rooms looked beautiful on their website. I am aware the hotel is being refurbished and have closed a few rooms off I feel this should have been closed off also. View from the window was of a dirty conservatory how all the above was an initial show but we didn’t let it spoil our stay

Peace and quiet - perfection.

A very warm welcome by all the staff who are all friendly and attentive. There are strict measures in place for the guests safety but they do not cause inconvenience and are easy to follow. The rooms are spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The food is delicious and very plentiful. The chocolate sundae is scrummy. The bar is well stocked and very spacious. This was a 70th birthday present for my husband so he could attend the annual steam event. Unfortunately that was cancelled but he chose to still go. He was very impressed with the Inn on the Moor. He felt very well looked after and felt the system they had in place to protect residents and staff was faultless. He's really pleased he still went.

My wife and i stayed here for a long weekend and loved everything about it.
The staff are so friendly and polite even during these covid times nothing was too much. The food and drinks selction was very good and of excellent quality. Would definitely recomend staying here...
The only down side we would say, was the bathroom in our room (6)was a little tired, but the inn on the moor welcome booklet noted this, so as new owners are already planning on future renovations .

We loved our two night stay here. It's in a wonderful setting on the moors and our room had great views of the area. From the moment we checked in until we left the staff could not have been friendlier or more obliging. The room was large and comfortable and well laid out. The bar and dining areas are attractive and the food was excellent. Sitting in the large beer garden with a cold drink was the perfect way to end the day.

The hotel is nice enough it is a little dated but about what one would expect given the location and the price. The staff are rushed off their feet with the requirements of social distancing etc but seem very friendly and hard working. The food is standard pub food. It was very noisy when we were there but that was due to inconsiderate fellow guests, not the hotel.

An exceptionally well run hotel.

An exceptionally well run hotel and in the uncertain times of a pandemic we were met with a warm welcome, all staff wore face masks and all measures were in place to adhere to social distancing measures.
Evening dinner and breakfast was delicious. The room was clean.
You can't go wrong staying here!

I dont do reviews, but I want to thank the Hotel.Friendly and professional staff , managed covid rules very well, keeping a warm and welcome atmosphere. Recommend the fish and chips , or scampi for evening meal, the whitby fish was excellent.
