Clean, comfortable room, with excellent view to north. Was able to see northern lights all three nights from the comfort of room while temperatures outside were -15 degrees c windchills. Great location if hunting for northern lights. Kitchen had utincils for two of us.

We had an amazing stay at this hotel during our visit to Iceland. We stayed in their cottage, and everything about the experience was perfect from start to finish. The cottage was cozy, comfortable, and a wonderful place to relax after a day of exploring.
The owners were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help with anything we needed, which made our stay even more special. The location is also ideal - peaceful and perfectly situated for spotting the incredible Northern Lights. We were lucky enough to see them, and it was truly unforgettable.
Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Iceland!

We stayed one night at this hotel, the hotel is family run & is staffed. They have a hot tub & sauna available as well. The rooms are quiet, clean & cozy. Nothing super amazing about this hotel but decent. The views are pretty good from here as a river runs beside & they have a nice fountain out front. They didn't shovel the snow until much later in the day. Ample parking here for free.

After a long day travel, we arrived early at 3 o’clock, and we’re very disappointed that we could not even sit in a lobby. Accommodations
Work great and the staff were very helpful. We were hoping to leave early to start the golden ring circle before the crowds however, breakfast does not start until 8 o’clock, which is a little late for trying to get an early start..

This was an older hotel that was so charming. The staff was very friendly, the scenery was beautiful and I truly loved watching the owner work the horses in the ring with her loyal dog right there. Breakfast was amazing, waffle maker worked perfect. I requested another comforter and it was in my room within 30 minutes. I would highly recommend this hotel.

The room was clean. Washer and dryer combo machine in the room. Laundry facilities are in very short supply in Iceland and your clothes are going to get wet! The refrigerator REAKED like fish, bad, so bad. Cute sauna and hot tub. By a beautiful river but no view from the room.

Pleasantly surprised, this was a hidden gem! Spacious rooms that were simple, yet inviting with comfortable beds. Excellent kitchen with everything we needed. We woke up to a delicious breakfast. Excited that the \"northern lights decided to come out and play\"!

Stayed for one night with my husband. Plenty of parking. The one member of staff (30. Oct 2024) who checked us in, cooked our dinner, and cleaned up was awesome. We found it a little inconvenient to exit the reception area to re-enter the area with the rooms, especially as it was drizzling. The kitchenette was stocked with the necessary tools for self-catering. The sauna and hot tub were clean and adequate. Unfortunately, our shower flooded the entire bathroom. The hotel is a little remote, but the view outside of our window made up for that. Thus, we both had a good night's sleep and found the hotel very peaceful. It would be a good stopover to the Snaefellsness peninsula. Overall, a pleasant stay and would stay again.

There is a kitchen, a semiautomatic washer/dryer, breakfast buffet. It is very thoughtful. There are pots and pans utensils, very convenient. The washer is a plus. The Only thing that is not as expected is the water flow/sip out of the shower stall, we need to wipe it dry from time to time.

Absolutely great. Never expected the hot tub or dry sauna. Also full kitchen setup in room. Dinner here was very good. You have to try the cod stew and rye bread. I will ask for recipe.

We had a wonderful stay here. Arrived much before check in time because of our overnight flight from the US. The staff made us a late breakfast even though the restaurant was closed. They asked the staff to prepare our room while we ate. The room was spacious, clean, and with a kitchen and washer / dryer. Highly recommend!

Amazing location, comfy room, accommodating staff

Great place for a family of four with young kids. The river and mountains were just outside our door. Very spacious and comfortable room. The staff was incredibly accommodating, too. We flew into Reykjavik late afternoon and drove up that evening. We got there just as their restaurant was closing, and they stayed open late for us.

We got a family size room and found the space to be clean with a well equipped kitchen and bathroom.

Kitchen: sink, fridge, utensils, cleaning supplies (must wash your own dishes), 4 person dining table.
Beds: Twin beds, comfortable and standard.
Bathroom: Included all basic amenities, towel warmer, standing shower.

Overall this place was a safe, solid choice for the area. The highlight was the well equipped kitchen. Everything else was standard. Would recommend if looking for a safe, basic stay with an actual kitchen (vs minibar).

We loved our stay! The little apartments are very nice and clean and we didn’t need a thing! The Area is gorgeous, and was the perfect home base for all our tours and activities, and even though we where at the very tail end of northern light season we got to see them on one of our nights spend there, because it’s nice and dark there.

The only wish we would have had would be coat hooks or a wardrobe. There was two hangers in the closet but it being cold most of the year we had multiple coats, rain jackets and hoodies and they seemed to be always in our way. And the shower in our apartment isn’t sealed on the bottom anymore and so it’s unavoidable that the bathroom gets “flooded” when showering.

The area and room are beautiful! We loved the little deck attached to the room and our beautiful view. The room we had also had a kitchen, which would be useful if you're staying for a few days, as the area doesn't have a lot of restaurants near by. I would definitely love to stay here again!

The elderly couple that manage the hotel are extremely nice and accommodating. We had a long drive and the couple made exceptions for dinner even though kitchen was closing. They also opened breakfast early for us since we had to leave early in the morning.

Excellent property and location! We stayed one night on our return from the north to the airport. The staff was incredibly kind and the room was large and well stocked with everything you could need. We stayed in the family suite and it had a sliding glass door overlooking the river. I randomly opened the curtain and was greeted with the most beautiful display of the Northern Lights. We watched beside the river and it was truly a magical experience. I would definitely stay here again!

The double room with balcony was in very good condition, clean and gave the impression of being recently refurbished.
The room was a studio with the bed, seating and kitchen all in one room and then en-suite bathroom. The kitchen was well equipped but it was a little odd not to have a table of dining height to eat on. Instead we sat on the floor using the coffee table (there was a sofa just not the right height for the table). Bed very comfortable. Water in shower hot. Room nice temperature. We could park directly outside to unload but then had to park the car further away overnight (but all off street).

This hotel was right on the road heading to Borgarnes and the peninsula. It was also very close to Glymur waterfall. We lived the hotel from the comfy beds, spacious rooms, and convenient location. You had to pay for breakfast but it was a good variety and fresh selection-even fresh cooked eggs and bacon. The owners were very friendly and we were offered hut chocolate one rainy cold night upon arrival. Would recommend this hotel!

There are tons of hiking trails around, it is only a short drive to Reykjavik, Saefellsnes, and natural hot springs. The hot tub was amazing and the breakfast delicious. This was our favorite place that we stayed in Iceland.

Easy to find as it's right on the ring road, yet in a lovely quiet location with wonderful views. The cabin is very clean and a good size for four people. It has all the basic kitchen/dining equipment you will need but it would benefit from a few more items like a toaster, sieve and oven glove.

Family of four (kids ages 10 and 16). We all enjoyed our stay at Hotel Laxarbakki. The beds were super comfortable, the kitchen was well equipped, the bathroom was nice and spacious. It is a bit in the middle of nowhere - but oh, so beautiful of a nowhere! The drive to the Bonus in Borgarnes took about 20 minutes with beautiful scenery all the way. Nice point between Reykjavik and Snaefellsjokull National Park.

Absolutely loved this place! Stayed in the courage for 3 nights and enjoyed every minute. So cozy and relaxing. The owners were so friendly and accommodating and went out of their way to make our stay wonderful. This guest house is in a beautiful location and out of the city away from lights which was perfect for watching the northern lights. Would absolutely stay again!
