Natural, warm and LuxuriousThe natural beauty of the land and surroundings of Borgarnes inspired the Design of B59 Hotel. The designer, Harpa from Willamia chose the colours to reflect the natural pallet found in the Icelandic landscape.
The Ironstone tones, grey green are similar to the mountains surrounding Borgarnes. Rough mat, lava grey surfaces are to highlight the country's raw lava fields.
Warm red, mud moss, colours reflect the effect the natural geothermal heat has on the colour of the ground in some areas of the land, the different greens, the ever-changing seasonal countryside, the blue and violet represent the sweet dark berries found in the wild during the autumn. Family room was very small for two adults and two children. No fridge and more importantly no hooks to hang coats, towels or anything on and only two drawers (1 obstructed by bunk bed ladder) for clothes for 4 people. We lived out of our back packs.
The major issue was the top bunk bed. It was at least 5ft 6 inches from the ground with no guard rail and nothing to stop the mattress moving. We wouldn’t let our 10yr old sleep on it so one of the parents had to instead.

We stayed for only one night, but this is one of our favorite hotels. First of all, we are family of 5 and stayed in the family room. It is more than enough to accommodate six people comfortably. The hotel is also extremely well maintained and very clean. It is directly across the street from a grocery store. Also the buffet breakfast was by far the nicest one we’ve had as we’ve driven the ring around Iceland. I could not recommend this hotel enough if you’re looking to spend a couple of days in Borgarnes.

A comfortable and clean hotel. We booked 2 rooms for our friends and we enjoyed our stay in Borgarnes. The Settlement House was in walking distance and had an excellent dinner. One of our rooms didn’t have a teapot to use with the instant coffee and tea but the manager brought one right up when we called. Our rooms were located right over the hotel bar and it got quite noisy with karaoke but that was my only concern. Otherwise a nice place to stay.

The overall stay was okay but I have rated them down because the bed was so hard I couldn’t sleep on it. I ended up sleeping on top of the comforter using it as a mattress topper to be able to finally fall asleep. I was not aware you could even buy a mattress that hard.

Everything was great for our needs. It was our last night in Iceland before flying back to Florida. The beds were comfortable and the room spacious. The dining room was beautiful and we had dinner and drinks afterward in the bar. The art on the walls throughout was fantastic and the experience pleasant.

Great stop between snaelfellsnes and Thingvellir
This was a great place. Of note, there is not much in town, and “town” is very small. There’s a grocery store that closes early, a gas station, and maybe 2-3 bars/restaurants, no other shops. But it was a good stopping place between the Thingvellir national park and the snaelfellsnes peninsula. The restaurant seemed like it could be good, it was cute; admittedly we didn’t have time to try it. The pool downstairs is about a foot deep, just for cooling down, and they have a hot tub, sauna and steam room which were all free and it was a very nice feature. The front desk is not well staffed, but they were very friendly and informative when they were there. The room was very nice, modern, and clean. Overall a great option

This hotel is very pretty and updated but the parking is pretty bad. There are only a few parking spaces in the front and they don’t tell you if you can park on the side or in the back and there aren’t really any signs. The bed came apart when you laid on it. The TV was a smart TV so you could stream shows which was nice. The staff was not very friendly and the spa is not open 24 hours but they also don’t tell you the hours that it is open? Our tea and coffee tray had open tea bags with no tea in them. It was a nice hotel and did the job for one night but we probably wouldn’t stay here again.
