We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The breakfast was excellent and the rooms are very nice. The floor heating in the bathroom is a great solution and it's so comfortable when you step out of the shower. It also helps efficiently dry wet clothes. The staff is super nice, we had everything we needed.

😐 have water jugs/bottle and water available in room or at least have a water dispenser in the building. We were advised not to drink from the tap. My room was across the main building and I had to keep going back to main building, in minus 23 degrees Celsius where the kitchen is, to get water. Thankfully, I had a 500 water bottle (supermarket closed). The staffs were accommodating but it’s inconvenient having to keep asking them to fill my bottle. Surprised to see this is a 4 star hotel.

☺️ the crew in dining room especially the chefs were very friendly, helpful and nice.

🫢 was there over NY Eve and NY 2026. There was fireworks at midnight and I wished the staffs had told us so I cold stay up. I woke up to the loud noise and only caught part of it. It takes time to wear 5 layers of clothes so I watched part of it from my window. Also wish there is a northern light sounding system. Would be nice if they had offered some food on NY day. Reception informed all restaurants were closed except a nearby hotel was open for dinner. Thankfully I brought cup noodles.

Overall, other than the lovely dining and housekeeping staffs that made the accommodation alive and welcoming, there’s nothing wow here. Although majority of residents in Salvard are from other countries, I felt they are ambassadors to visitors. I will try other accommodation in future when I visit this beautiful country again.

Lovely stay! My mountain view was more of a view of the front entrance and parking with a tip of hill showing behind the building across the street. Not great, but super comfortable room and great tub! The local food was all delicious as well. I went to Kroa a couple times and the hotel restaurant as well but just for dinner. So good!

I would not recommend the hotel because of the staff and strifked check in policy and the fact you have to remove shoes to even check into the hotel, the rooms are nice and so is breakfast and it’s a good location but the reception staff are not good

We loved this hotel. The room was a great size and convenient to everything in town. The breakfast each morning was excellent. The only downside was we stayed during polar day and there were black out curtains on the big window only. The small window near the head of the bed let in quite a bit of light which made it harder to sleep.

A basic hotel room with separate bathroom. No fridge which is typical in Scandinavia. I say it is a basic 3 star hotel with excellent staff. The restaurant Polfareren has some amazing dishes. Make sure you try the snow crab bisque it is truly amazing and delicious.

A perfect hotel! Located in the middle of the town, everything is nearby and walking distance.

Hotel is very warm and cost, staff are incredible and very welcoming. Room is a good size and very comfortable. Breakfast is perfect with a lot of options. Could not find any fault.

I was visiting for my birthday buddy's ninth birthday (her mom had moved to Svalbard last year), and didn't want to crowd their apartment. This property was an easily walked distance from them, the COOP, and almost all of the city center destinations. Check in was rapid, technology was very modern, and daily breakfast filling. If I have to mention a con, my best cup of coffee after landing in Oslo was instant Nescafe, however, I do hail from Seattle. 10/10, would stay here again.

Everything was fine except room temperature control. The heat could not be turned off, small room w would no be opened since loud Friday night music and revelry went on toll after 12. Talked to frond desk about heat and they said other rooms had complained and they would get on it. Next nigh the same thing. Way too hot in the rooms and no way to control it.

This is a charming property... sleek, modern, very Scandinavian. The breakfast buffet is plentiful and varied. Dinner in the Polfareren restaurant is very inventive, tasty and nicely presented. Staff was very welcoming and helpful. Longyearbyen is very small so not a tremendous number of hotel choices, but we were very happy with our selection. (And we were thrilled to discover the bathroom floors are heated!) Guests should also be aware the hotel (and a few others) have a tradition of requesting guests to remove their \"outside\" shoes as you enter so be prepared with clean shoes or slippers, or even socks, to wear in the public areas.

Rather a chore having to put boots on to cross the road to reception then remove them again once there and then the same in reverse. One of the blinds in our room was broken which, with 24 hours daylight, meant that the room was constantly brightly lit.
The provision of a good luggage room was very helpful, especially if you are catching the night flight.

Svalbard Hotell Polfareren is very centrally located on Longyearbyen's main street, close to many restaurants and the supermarket. It consist of a main building with the restaurant Polfareren and a second building across the street next to the information center. My husband and I stayed for 6 nights in the second building in room 34 on the second floor. There is no elevator, and guests have to remove their shoes and leave them in the shoe rack downstairs. The room was of a good size, clean, with a comfortable bed.
There are blackout curtains against the light of the midnight sun, but some light still shines through at the edges, so a sleeping mask comes in handy.
Other amenities in the room are a flatscreen tv, coffee and tea making facilities, but no fridge.
There is excellent free and fast WIFI all over the hotelgrounds.
The bathroom has a combination bath/shower.
The walls of the room are not completely soundproof : we could hear the television of our neighbours, but they turned the volume down after we asked them.
Breakfast is served in Polfareren restaurant, and it consists of a buffet with ample choice of fresh breakfast items, amongst which also some gluten-free bread and toast.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. You can also book trips and excursions at the reception.
We had a wonderful stay at this hotel and can recommend it.

Svalbard lodge apartments - particularly room 1205 - are incredibly affected by the deafening music from the bar directly below. The same company owns all of it, so they are aware. As they were quick to point out when I complained in the middle of the night, their website says “there may be noise from the bar below, especially on weekends”, but Expedia does not have this info, as far as I’m aware. Also, the degree and timing are not made clear. Both day (live music practice) and night (“concerts” or recorded music) there is incredibly loud (and often quite bad) music. It’s not a mere annoyance, it is impossible to drown out. Even with a hairdryer on high in the bathroom, I could still hear the music clearly. Each night i was there, it continued well past 1am. When I tried to nap during the day, the practicing was as loud as the nighttime music. I put in earplugs and put a noise machine right next to my head to try to drown out the din, but my sleep was severely compromised the entire time. Considering that lots of people are trying to do physically taxing all-day activities in Longyearbyen, the prospect of not sleeping is off-putting, and in the extreme, could even be dangerous. As comfortable as the apartment is - and it is lovely - I would never, ever stay here again on a trip to Longyearbyen.

We stayed here for two nights on our honeymoon. Everyone working at this hotel are lovely and very helpful. We got an upgrade with a bigger room and champagne since they knew we were on our honeymoon. The lobby with the fireplace and sofas is so cozy. The breakfast and afternoon soup buffet are delicious. I love that everyone walks around in socks (you must leave your dirty boots at the front door). The room was great and the bed was very comfortable. Would highly recommend.

Convenient location, central to most Longyearbyen facilities, and on the airport bus route. The hotel has a small but comfortable lounge area with a baggage storage room, useful for waiting before room becomes available or after checking out. The included buffet breakfast is good quality with a range to suit most tastes.

We stayed one night before a Svalbard expedition by boat. Nothing in Svalbard is inexpensive, but this was a good price for the area. Plus there was a wonderful breakfast included. Rooms are very nice as well. The staff at the desk is very firendly.

We are allocated the 3rd floor room. There is no lift so its a bit difficult for me to bring my big luggage up the stairs. There is washing machine, full kitchen utensils, oven & hot plate stove which are useful.

We enjoyed a very pleasant one night stay in this very well positioned, modern and well serviced hotel in Longyearbyen. Of all the six hotels we stayed in Norway (mainland and on Svalbard) we found this to be the best in terms of value, character and service. The staff at the front desk and in the dining room were very helpful and happy.
