We stayed for three nights at the Golden Tree Hotel in Bruges and truly enjoyed the charm of this historic property. The room had an old-world character that felt cozy and inviting. The bed and carpet were very comfortable, and the lamps added a lovely touch of homeliness.

Housekeeping did a great job throughout our stay, keeping everything clean and tidy. The only issues we noticed were that the bathtub tended to clog frequently, and it would have been nice to have a hanger near the mirror for towels, as well as a proper spot to place our luggage.

Breakfast was excellent — served in a dining room that looks like a small palace, with crystal chandeliers and elegant vintage furniture. The hotel is about a 13-minute walk from the Old Town Square, making it convenient yet peaceful.

A special mention to the night staff — she was amazing! Though we didn’t catch her name, she went out of her way to share local tips, restaurant recommendations, and even provided us with a city map. Unfortunately, our interaction with another male staff member was disappointing; he was quite rude to my spouse, who had only asked about the location of the steam room. His attitude really contrasted with the otherwise warm hospitality we experienced.

Overall, despite a few hiccups, the Golden Tree Hotel offered a charming and memorable stay in beautiful Bruges.

very small room, one side of the bed might as well be touching the wall but it was comfortable at least. not a lot of space for 2 people to spread out with suitcases. there was a walk-in shower but it was very tight. the location is good, maybe a few blocks from the edge of town and near a lot of restaurants. this is more of a boutique hotel.

They need to do a bit of work in the common areas - once past reception up the stairs I was fearing the worse given grim carpets, stained walls and exposed panels. Not a good first impression

Found the rooms to be rather drab. Not a picture on the wall! We were only furnished with one big towel in spite of us being 2 people. There was a lot of dust on the side table. Corridors were very dark and dingy and a terrible smell in the lobby area which probably came from the cleaner’s mop

Value for money and location.

Staff were friendly and helpful, we can converse well comfortably in English with them. Storage room is a bonus, we could leave the bully items after check out, so we can explore Bruges city center. Lift at the courtyard is very helpful. There are water dispenser and microwave at the common lounge for guests to use. About 20 minutes walk from Bruges train station and less than 10 minutes to reach the edge of the city center. Ample sitting space in the reception and common lounge.

Downside is tower heating rail in the bathroom was slightly rusty at the bottom. Another thing is only having decaf coffee in the room. Pretty sure the reception desk would kindly sort this out, in the end we weren't too fussed about it.

Overall this hotel was perfect for our stay! The room was cosy, location fantastic and service excellent. Our room had beautiful skylights which was a feature I really liked. The only negative was an unpleasant smell as you enter thr property. Thankfully though there was no such smell in the room.

Great location, approx 15ns walk to the centre. The room was great, clean and with excellent facilities. We had a double bed and two singles , big bathroom and a small fridge
We paid 25E for parking, which was worth it as hassle free and was very secure.
Highly recommend for a great value for money stay.

Superb location to explore the city. Staff were lovely and friendly. Breakfast was ok, standard buffet. Price was about the same as a breakfast you would buy in the city but you have better choices in the city.
Car parking, although expensive, was great, secure and within the grounds of the hotel.
Rooms were small but perfectly fine for a few nights. No wardrobe space, just some shelves. Beds were comfy.
Overall would definitely stay here again.

Its a lovely hotel in a good location, our room was a good size and very clean. There is an unpleasant smell in the reception are which assume is caused by drains under the building, this is a shame as everywhere in the hotel is very clean. The reception staff were very pleasant but we were surprised that there were no staff after 9pm in the hotel, fortunately this wasn't a problem for us but thought it was unusual. Overall we had a very good stay and can recommend this hotel.

Lovely welcome with excellent, polite, friendly and informative staff. The gentleman that checked us in gave us very useful tourist information. The room was modern and clean and the reception was lovely too. Only downside was being woken up at 9am to building renovation work which we were not informed about. Also the parking was more expensive than the multistory car park down the road which we decided to use instead. Overall would highly recommend this hotel and the location was great too.

The hotel is located well for walking around Bruges. It has a very nice area around the reception and looks grand. The outside is also very nice, with an interior sitting area of garden type.
What is not so nice are the rooms. Ours was a rather small, with no wardrobe to speak of and with a very small working desk. Never mind. What was really not good is that the window in the bathroom could not be closed. In mid-October this means feeling cold by night, since there was no working heating either. Having asked at the reception on the mornings of both Friday and Saturday for the problem to be resolved, it was really disappointing to see that after three nights in the hotel absolutely nothing was done. It was also disappointing to find that the room-maid 'forgot' to replenish coffee, milk and sugar on each morning. Last but not least, the member of the staff to whom the complaint about the window was passed was unusually rude.

False advertising

False advertising saying that there is parking onsite (the reason we booked here) to then be told that parking is actually 1400m away and that we needed to reserve parking two weeks in advance (difficult when we only booked the hotel one day in advance!). This should be clearly listed. Breakfast was poor quality and there was no hot food left even 90 minutes before end of Breakfast. Room cleaners incredibly noisy at 0900 when check out is 1100. Hotel reception staff very smug and patronising towards foreign clients. Room across courtyard and quiet but really dated and reminds me of 1990. Really, don't stay here if you value sleep, food or good service. I'll report this to hotels.com to get my money back

Hotel OK, close to downtown Bruges...old style hotel. I was very disappointed to have the cleaning lady knock on my door 3 times from 11 to 11:20 am and the last time so hard that I had to go from telling her through the door to give me 10 more mins to opening the door for her to have her see for herself we were ready to leave but when I do I see that she was Incredibly mad we were overstaying these 20 mins...and very rude told me to get out...literally her words!!!...therefore I will not comeback and will definitely not recommend, far from that - I will tell them to stay away from this place.

A small stairway leading up to the escalator. Room were a bit small for 3 people. Booked a room for 3 single rooms but was told that additional charges were required as the room I booked for only had 1 double bed and a single bed (wasn't clear in the reservation).

Go Ghent instead of Bruges

Golden Tree Hotel is located ideally 800m from the best spots of Bruges and walking to train station. However our stay was mixed and I would recommend staying at Ghent than at Bruges. Bruges is a nice pretty town, the hotel rooms are fine, however there was construction in the hotel and plus some stairs to negotiate and rains through which to walk to room. Also on checkout the lady was insistent on charging 10€ per extra hour by the clock. Checkout time was 11am and at 11:10am she kept telling us ten mins more and we need to pay 10€ per room. No staff help you with luggage despite the few stairs to negotiate. The television was not working so we were given a bottle of wine complimentary. Considering the expensive price of this hotel and of Bruges overall, in service it was nowhere close to the service levels we received in Madrid and Paris. So I won’t blog about Bruges Stay tips as overall experience wasn’t as good. The bathrooms don’t have separators so when you bathe water will spill over to other side. The only good part of this hotel is Guillaume. He was helpful in replying all my mails queries promptly and did give us a smooth checkin process. We had a very pleasant stay. We called them to let them know of our late arrival and we were told how to get our key and find our room with very simple instructions. Breakfast was not included with our room price, but we ate there for a very reasonable price. The room was very nice and had everything we needed.

We had stayed once before for a few days, which we loved, but this stay was not as good, i had arranged extra facilities i.e. kettle and cups, for us by email which was promised to us, but was never provided on arrival or even though they said they would sort it for when we returned from are days outing, so i don't advised people to ask as they can't for fill there promise, when complaining in a email once we had returned home, nothing was offered in compensation or towards are next stay if we returned in the future, they said that their was facilities that we could of used but that wasn't explained to us on arrival, but we only had the room key, so we didn't even know if we could get into the main hotel late at night, plus who's going to walk across the car park in the middle of the night when it's windy and wet, and for about £130 plus city tax and parking charges for one night we was not impressed.
