Great heritage hotel !!! We do not get service like this in the USA!!!! From the time we arrived the staff was engaging, attentive and knowledgeable. So many little things made out stay memorable. Our room was like a suite, clean and welcoming. From the afternoon tea to the nightly entertainment. The front desk staff were very professional, friendly and outgoing. They started our stay out right by telling us about the property and all it had to offer . We did use the spa services and they were fantastic. The breakfast staff were excellent as well , they made us feel like royalty every time we ate in the restaurant. The restaurant staff were very diligent in making sure we understood all the different selections they had to offer , and it was great to have them explain what the different foods were and make suggestions on what they felt was good. Thank you for being very patient with us Americans. And finally the location of the property is great !!! It is close enough to everything, yet not in the ruckus of the hotel zone. Had a great courtyard and a very nice pool. We highly recommend this property to everyone traveling from the USA, reasonably priced with service that goes above and beyond.

Fantastic hotel, if you get the right room

Was a nice hotel, but the room wasn’t as described in hotels.com information. There was no furnished terrace, or deep soak bath in the deluxe room. The room we were given, 112, smelled very damp and disturbed my sleep. In addition, there was no double bed, just 2 singles pushed together and made up as a double. The bed was also too short for me, due to the footboard - I’m approx 5’8” tall.
On mentioning my concerns to the manager the next day though, we were upgraded to a luxury room, which did have the bathtub and the furnished terrace, and smelled better. The bed was bigger and thus more comfortable, thus I give good marks for service.
Breakfast was exceptionally good.

We spent two nights at this beautiful heritage hotel, I loved the old fashioned brass padlocks on the doors. Our room was spacious, beautiful and clean, but a little dark and the blinds could not be opened. As the room opened onto an open baloney road noise could be hear thought out the night.
I was told at check in that our room had been up-graded, however we booked and received a deluxe Room, so at the loss on that one.
Restaurant was overpriced and food unappealing. At breakfast waiting an age for 2 omelettes to be made, despite the restaurant being mostly empty. On our second night we were given the bill after ordering 1 after dinner drink which made us feel most unwelcome.
The hotel hosted a wedding during our stay, which detracted from the traditional Indian dance show by the pool on the first night and prevented us from using the pool or sleeping on the second night due to load music and fireworks. When we mentioned this to the staff on check out she just smiled at us.

Stayed at the Grand Imperial in August, the staff was very welcoming especially Mamta at the front desk who was very helpful. The rooms were clean and very specious with decor representing the time the building was built in the early 1900’s and distinctly maintains its charm. Staying here you feel like one is experiencing history, The front lawn is of a good size and feels intimate, the swimming pool is clean and a good to relax after wandering around the city. The hotel also hosts a puppet show by local artists and provides complimentary mehendi (henna) by a friendly lady named Sabiya.
The breakfast is great with a good selection of Indian and continental options but the restaurant though good is a little pricy. The hotel doesn’t have a gym and the roof is accessible and you can see the Taj Mahal. Me and my family greatly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this hotel.

The staff have been amazing on all my 5 days of my stay . But they have to change few things in their rooms. If you are allergyc then is not your hotel. rooms are very dry and moldy in bathroom. The room are frash painted and the rooms service is very focused to help you.

I highly recommend you stay at the Grand Imperial in Agra. I felt transported back in time with the architecture and beautiful garden. We got a deluxe room which was spacious and nicely decorated. At night, there was a puppet show, henna artist, and folk music. The dinner buffet featured live musicians (who were teaching guests how to play some of the instruments) and delicious North Indian dishes. They also had freshly made garlic naan brought to your table. If you're looking to treat yourself to a hotel with character, stay at the Grand Imperial. (Only thing is they say the entertainment at night is "complimentary," but the performers and artists may try to pressure you to buy their products or give money.)

It was a very frustrating experience because of the extremely loud music being played at a wedding that was being hosted in the hotel premises. Hotel was great, but they should not be renting out rooms while they are also hosting a wedding. We were so disappointed that the hotel service had simply no option to control the loud music.

Great hotel room but services could be better.

Traveling around India we were in need of a bit rest and relaxation and something a little more luxurious so when a good deal popped up on Expedia for this hotel we took the opportunity and booked. Agra is a mishmash of a city so I couldn’t say that any hotel is particularly well located but this one isn’t too bad. The room was fantastic - very large with a separate sitting area. It was also very well sound proofed at the front which is a good thing as it is a very noisy area next to a main road. Fine in the room, irritating in the nice gardens. There was also a wedding at the hotel on night until early in the morning - check before you book if you value your sleep. The main negatives for us were that the spa and restaurant were very expensive - virtually Western prices - and the food wasn’t that great really. Breakfast was fine but nowhere near as good as some of our other hotels. Mostly the staff were nice but the day we checked out they were overbearing in their insistence for us to write a review - they were more intent on getting us online than they were dealing with a few issues that we had.

The hotel has all the makings of a 5 star place place but lacks any of the professionalism and refinements you’d expect.

We stayed over New Years Eve. NEVER DO THAT.

We were charged for a Mandatory (???) dinner on New Year’s Eve at $100/adult, which doubled the cost of the room, and were going to be charged for kids, but we got out of that. We were assured that, since the kids can’t stay up to midnight, we would not be bothered by the music. They were wrong. We did not sleep all night because LOUD music was blaring from both sides of the room, as if the bands were inside our bed.

I understand hotels need to make money, but this was a disgusting way to take advantage of people by making them pay for a dinner and take part in an event they did not want to pay for. I thought that, since this was an upscale establishment, I would not be taken advantage of, but I was.

Do not stay here on Christmas or New Year’s Eve, unless you really do want to party all night.

Dissatisfied.

What a great hotel. But the bed was extremely uncomfortable (two mattresses put together, a pain to sleep in the middle), and spa staff approach me constantly to sell their overpriced treatments. Breakfast was good, dinner was only ok.
Also, the view from my room was disastrous (see picture).
Location is also not optimal for Agra.

few issues with service, but rooms are really nice

The phone number in the confirmation email turbed iut to be from a different hotel. Hence, thr pick up from the train station brought us to the wrong place. Check in was nice, room very big and stylish. We had problems at early morning check out when the credit card machine did not work which they could not resolve. They only had a (really lovely) crib for small babies who can't turn which was a bit of a problem for our 13 months old.

Charming hotel close to Taj Mahal

Charming spacious room with high ceilings, fans and air-conditioning kept us cool and double wooden doors shut out the 42 degree heat. Back doors opened onto pool area. Restaurant offered buffet and a la carte. A sitar player entertained the evening crowd. An oasis 15 minutes drive from Taj Mahal. Would love to return. (Deep bath so this room is not for the mobility impaired.)

I cannot comment about the hotel or room condition, however I can state our experience with this hotel is very poor and would not recommend. We booked this hotel over 6 months ago, the day of our arrival we where told a wedding was taking place and said that it would be very noisy all night . They said that they sent an email to advise, but no one from our party received anything. They suggested another hotel that ended up being a nightmare !! they do not respect or care for their guests ...many good hotels in the area, save yourself from this experience and choose another one !!

Lots of lovely detail in decor, solid Indian wooden doors, terrace and garden, colourful tiles and Indian wooden post bed, (the best night's sleep all holiday).

It was one of the worst experience ever. Stay away from this hotel.
1)the room service person from hotel wanted to know if he could visit to one of our female and wanted to know if she is alone?

2) Someone from hotel stole money from the room of our female staff. Total $220. (4 x $50 and 1 x $20)

There is no safe box in the room. She had the money in a zippered purse. (4) $50.00 USD notes, Several ($20.00 USD notes) some $5 dollar notes. What went missing was all four $50.00 notes and one $20.00 note. They left behind the small notes.

3) Breakfast was terrible
The coffee was instant, the water was warm and not hot. The eggs were cooked by the cook and good. Juice was sugar water, Bread was rock hard. This was 2 star quality food. Selection was terrible.

WORST EXPERIENCE IN MY LIFE, WORST HOTEL EVER STAY

This has been the worst experience in my life, the hotel is horrible, dirty, the toillets water is black, the bathrooms are old, mosquitos, but the worst part was the service at the hotel I paid the room for a driver that was going with us and even I paid the room I handed the driver the keys they kick him our of the room he slept outside, I have NEVER experienced someone so RUDE and UPSETING, PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT STAY IN THIS HOTEL IT WAS A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE FOR THE 4 ROOMS WE BOOKED.

Comfortable hotel with old charm

I stayed here for 2 nights while visiting Agra, Taj Mahal, etc. and had an excellent experience for an excellent off season price of only Rs3,000 per night. The rooms and grounds are beautiful, with old charm and colonial Indian design throughout.

The rooms are very spacious and clean; bathrooms are modern; beds and linen are soft and comfortable, like sleeping on clouds compared with other mid-range hotels! The staff were very friendly and accommodating in my experience. The restaurant food is delicious, although a little overpriced.

Only two things I can fault: (1) wifi is free, fast and reliable, but is not available in the rooms, only in the restaurant; (2) the pool area and furniture could be improved (it is definitely not as pictured).

Overall, great value for money.

Extremely disappointed; seeking refund

Terrible experience..If I could rate it 0 stars, I would. Don't get fooled by the 4 star rating which we fell for. We booked 4 rooms for an important occasion, and regret the decision now.
-Let me start with the room - upon entering, we smelled strong presence of a bug spray, which should have been a clue that we'll be ingesting pesticide the whole night. And it didn't take us long to discover why - I personally stomped two cockroaches! Yikes...and when we complained, two staff members showed up with black can of HIT spray to spread more of the pesticides..without apologizing obviously.
-AC tripped multiple times, and we had to alert the staff to fix it. Their manager Vipul's response when reporting this issue was that "well, we handled it every time it was reported" and blamed it on the wedding party on premise which was drawing excess power from the rooms!
-Dirty Pool - My estimate is that pool is rarely sanitized, likely compounded due to a wedding reception that took place at the pool. So besides having had no access to pool after 7 PM due to wedding in 110 F, morning after swim resulted in dirty Styrofoam/plastic cups swimming with us! Pool was a huge factor in our decision, so clearly a bad choice.
-Above all, hotel CHARGED us for the "third" guest in rooms (yes, 6 yr child is extra guest), but failed to provide the additional bed. The "king" bed is actually 2 twin beds combined, so mattresses shift out at night..two families barely slept. Vipul promised us a refund!

Hidden behind a high hedge, this old fashioned yet substantial hotel offered real value for money. Excellent room size and clean bathroom, polite but not unctious staff, interesting food on the menu, well kept lawns, attractive swimming pool and not too far by tuck tuck or taxi from the Taj or the Fort.

Very disappointing. It was clean, however the advertised description and the reality of the facilities did not equate. (This is approximately the 20th hotel review that I have made, and is the first that has not been positive). Also, you can obtain free wifi if you purchase a meal in the restaurant. Otherwise you have to pay approx £4.10 per two hours.

Loved this hotel! Great ambiance in the whole place.
Only negative.....The bar was not stocked well, they could make only a few mixed drinks and the wine selection was limited. Had a very bad Indian wine, but I replaced it with a good Bloody Mary. Nothing available for an after dinner liqueur. The buffet was pretty good for both dinner and breakfast, with many choices. Had nice music in the dining room at night with a sitar and drum. Nice old world feeling in most of this hotel!

I won't suugest this hotel to people!

We were there for Christmas and the room was freezing cold. We requested a heater wjich was broken, so they brought a new one. It got warmer but not warm enough. The telephone also had a problem and it kept getting disconnected. The breakfast was nice. The staff don't speak English that well. The wifi is not complimentary which makes no sense. The rooms have no windows either.

What can I say we arrived and greeted with juice and flower necklace perfect after a drive to get here. Safe and secure with guards at gate. Receptionist very helpful young chap nothing too much trouble. Room spacious with tea coffe and water complimentary. 80 year old bath added to charm!! Location no issues but we had a driver/taxi - not far from Taj and other sites. Grounds are exceptional with big lawn to have afternoon tea, a swimming pool set back with wait or service from the awesome latesh, evening entertainment from amazing sitar player who was so eager to explain types of music- a real treat. Puppet show in the evening with 2 locals (one child on drum) very funny performance. Food nice and recommend the dal! Minor niggle pigeon poo around edges of seats but that is it. A true regency style and relaxing stay. Very good hotel strongly recommend. Thank you

the room was beautiful and comfortable and so are in general the hotel facilities (though I only used the breakfast room and only took a look at the pool); the staff however are hugely inefficient. It took 30 minutes to settle my bill (and I had been charged with someone else's meal); I was told that the spa (a massage) was free of charge (in spite of my sceptical repeated asking) and of course I was then told that the charge would be 10,000 INR when I asked at the spa. Everybody was very polite but nobody seemed to know much about the hotel's functioning.

Overall, this place badly needs renovating and a rethink by management on how the place operates.
