The breakfast was great, lots of choice, a gluten free area and all food labelled well.
The room was clean. It's in a great location.
We didn't get the Queen bed we were expecting and the extractor fan in the bathroom didn't work. The shower was amazing though. Bed was comfy with decent pillows.
We did struggle with the air con, very dry and luckily we had a balcony so could leave the door slightly open which helped a lot.
The hotel staff were lovely, the hotel was absolutely fine.

Decent hotel for the price

Overnight stay with the Mrs on our way to lapland. First room had buzzing contactor, not a big problem since the nice reception desk changed our room.

The original room we had contained a pornographic playing card between the bible. Not a nice surprise and a sick joke. Kind of ruined our stay in this nice hotel, was in conversations well beyond our stay.

Good breakfast, very comfortable beds. Thanks for the night receptionist who understood the shock caused by the playing card.

Location, location, location

It is located in the centre of Oulu and just across the road from Stockmann department store.

Hotel staff e.g. front desk, restaurant, cleaning lady etc. are quite friendly and appears to be well trained.

I stayed three nights and it was comfortable, which I'd like to recommend to other visitors or business person.

Scandinavian hospitality at its best

Located in the heart of Oulu, this hotel is a pleasure to stay at every time. The front desk works with typical Finnish efficiency and politeness. The breakfast is incredible and the rooms large and comfortable. I highly recommend using the sauna during the stay.

Very good experience in Oulu!

The Scandic Hotel in Oulu was a great find. We enjoyed the proximity to downtown, the market square, etc. The hotel staff was helpful, the sauna 6-9 pm was nice, there is a basic (and nice) children's play area, breakfast was very good. Very pleased with the experience.

Good hotel in the heart of the city

We had a pleasent stay in Scandic hotel Oulu during March 2015. The rooms are spacious and modern. Beds were a little too soft for our taste. Staff was really helpfull and nice although once I complained about the room was not clean when we arrived the staff gave us a free glasses of sparcling wine to appologise the situation. There was no effort on giving another room or sending someone to clean the room. So, in those terms I can't give excellent rating for the hotel. Paying the full rate for a dirty room is not excellent service in my opinion.

I ate in the restaurant on the first evening and was ill that night.
When I advised that staff that I thought there was something not right with the meal, they simply said you had eaten therefore it must be alright. I had not eaten all of it, I stopped.

When I went in the next day and advised what happened I was offered a complimentary coffee for my digestive system, I was not amused.

When I spoke to the reception staff on checking out, they had no authority to amend the bill to discount the poor meal experience and my resulting bad night. However they would have the manager contact me that day.

It is now 2 days later, I have heard nothing, no email or voicemail as they had both my email and phone number.

If that is the level of courtesy shown to a customer, then I will in future not use their hotels.
Needless to say I went back for a 2nd night and it was fine, I ordered a very simple pizza, no point risking it twice.
Why a second time, I had never been to this area or hotel before and had no easy alternative.

Great hotel for business stay

The hotel was great for that one night's stay in Oulu. Clean, friendly service, decent restaurant and a comfortable room that's just at the right temperature. Only one complaint: pillows. This is something that all Scandic hotels have in common. The standard pillows are simply too hard and too small.

Erinomainen palvelu ja moottoripyörille löytyi pääoven vierestä ilmaiset paikat, parkkihallissa maksu olisi ollut 15€/pyörä. Ilmastointi huoneessa, monipuolinen aamupala, ystävällinen henkilökunta.

Siistimpikin voisi olla

Muruja yöpöydällä, pikkuisia kenkälankin tms mustia roiskeita pesualtaassa. Lattia ei ollut ihan vasta luututtu, näkyi jälkiä. Muuten ihan tavanomainen siisteys, eli ei kovin hyvä.

Yöpyminen sujui hyvin. Tupakkapaikalla voisi olla istuimia/penkkejä muutama, jotta ei tarvitse istua ikkunalaudalla tai kukkaruukkujen reunoilla. Samalla paikalla voisi istua ja odottaa myös taxia. Kiinteä penkki olisi paikallaan. Siinä voisi lukea, että ei saa sylkeä eikä majailla vaan on tarkoitettu hotellin asiakkaille/tupakoitsijoille.

Das Hotel liegt sehr gut in der Stadt im Zentrum und von dort aus ist man schnell in der Stadt. Die Einrichtung ist in die Jahre gekommen und das ein oder andere wackelt oder fehlt. Das Personal ist super freundlich. Die frühstücksauswahl ist riesig und schmeckt sehr gut. Mittag und Abendessen hatten wir leider nicht. Alles in allem würde ich es für eine Nacht empfehlen allerdings nicht länger
