Not the best, not bad either

Way too expensive for what it is. For 2 people, the room, dinner, couple of drinks, and a spa treatment each, we spent over 800e for 1 Sunday night stay.

The view is incredible, rock pool is really nice, hotel staff were very nice, room was comfortable and quiet.

We ate at The Bar. The staff weren't great. Service was poor. The mains were nice but the sides and starters were bad. Dinner ended up costing 100e a head. Bottle of Bulmers was 9e. Poor value for below average food.

And a lot of small issues which arent really acceptable for such an expensive hotel. The menus in The Bar were dirty and covered in bits of food. Theres a shower by the rock pool but it doesn't work. The spa area is very basic, the sauna was cold when we went to use it. Half of the lockers in the spa changing room were broken. The shower in our room ran out of hot water. For some reason the phone in the room kept ringing through the night with no one on the other end, had to get up and unplug it.

Nice views, but not worth the money compared to other 5 star hotels which cost substantially less.

Only stayed for one night so we didn't have a chance to sample the many amenities provided - which all looked great. Location on coast of Ardmore Bay is idyllic with convenient walk to nearby town and strand. Rooms and interior of the facility are wonderfully done, staff bends over backwards to help with anything and the tasting menu dining experience was terrific - a little spendy, but worth it.

Once the restaurant got busy the service fell off the Cliff. This issue probably leant itself to this less than stellar review, considering the price you’re paying.

Our stay in the Cliff House was amazing. The staff couldn’t have been nicer from the moment we got out of the car to the time we were checking out. I must mention the restaurant staff in particular; hard working and well mannered young people who couldn’t have done enough for us both for our evening meal and our breakfast the following morning. The food was excellent for both meals.

The room was clean, spacious and had a marvellous view over the water. Not even the miserable weather could spoil the view.

The swimming pool was lovely and relaxing, with the outdoor jacuzzi being a special treat. We went twice during our one night stay.

Our trip was topped off with a stroll on the stunning Cliff Walk. We’ve done the walk many times before but finally made the jump to stay in the hotel.

All in all, a truly memorable trip. We will definitely be returning!

One of the best hotels in Ireland

Idyllic location, welcoming and helpful staff and amazing food. The spa facilities are top class with an amazing option to swim in the refreshing sea and hop into a hot tub or sauna afterwards. The Cliff walk is one of the nicest in Ireland and above all else the staff in this hotel were incredible and made me feel at home from the first moment. Nothing was too much trouble. I didnt want to leave.I highly recommend the Cliff House Hotel.

The hotel is beautiful and staff do everything they can to accommodate you during the stay. This is a very special place with wonderful views and a calm atmosphere. We really enjoyed using the spa too. The only downside was the meal at the Michelin starred restaurant. We did the tasting menu along with wine pairing. They rushed us through the full 8-courses. We wouldn't have minded if it was just the food we were enjoying but pretty soon I had five full glasses of wine in front of me - we didn't have much time to enjoy each course before the next was plonked in front of us. After complaining about the overwhelming speed three times they slowed down and then ignored our table for the remainder of the evening. We left the restaurant fit to burst, with pockets 500euro lighter :(

The view from all areas of hotel is spectacular. The hotel itself is sparkling clean. The staff are welcoming and friendly and waiter service in restaurant and bar are very attentive. Food is excellent. We didn’t have an opportunity to use pool /spa area but we went down to look at it and it looks really well kept and sparkling clean. Bedroom facilities are top notch for comfort and style. Extra touches for generous coffee pods and chocolate bars on the house. Highly recommend this hotel.

The staff in this hotel make it what it is. My husband and I have also stayed in the Cliff at Lyons which is great too - this hotel has a wonderful location with lots to do and see nearby. It also has an excellent spa and pool which the Lyons sadly lacks.

The food is just okay - breakfast good - the 'bar' food however, we found over priced and unimaginative. We didn't eat in the Michelin starred restaurant, having been broadly unimpressed in the bar and with an eye watering bill for what little we ordered. We went on our second evening to a restaurant in Dungarvan near by (20 minutes drive) and received a good quality meal for the same price with two more courses than that which we enjoyed in the Cliff.

The staff are the diamond in the crown of this hotel however - every single one of them friendly, helpful - they simply can't do enough for you. Customer experience is theirs to own and boy do they take their ownership seriously!! Really fantastic people working in this hotel - the guests are extremely well cared for.

The rooms are clean and well appointed - excellent little extras and lots of creative thinking into how to make the guest experience great. If a rethink happened about the pricing for the bar food there would be little to criticize this hotel for!

Best hotel in Ireland

Cliff House Hotel is simply the best hotel in Ireland that we have stayed in. The welcome and personal service from the staff is what makes it a truly special place. And it helps to have one of the best fine-dining restaurants in the country on site. The setting on the cliff overlooking the village of Ardmore is also a one-of-a-kind experience with the nearby cliff walk.

Hotel was relaxing, tranquil and luxurious. The breakfast was so delicious and the selection was great. Swimming pool and relaxing areas were also great.
We enjoyed dinner in the bar one night and although the food was out of this world, the bar lacked atmosphere.

Overall had an amazing time. I went with my husband for our 10th wedding anniversary and we did go to switch off and relax. I'd say 'Job accomplished'.

We had an amazing time in the Cliff House Hotel. Staff were all lovely, great service and plenty of them. The pool and spa area were gorgeous with beautiful views over the sea as with the view from our bedroom. We had a beautiful meal in the Bar restaurant and breakfast the following morning was just as good. My only negative comment is that the seats in the Bar are looking a bit tired and could do with recovering.

The stay was lovely, the bedrooms were the highlight, plus the welcome we got on check-in felt special 10/10. The bedrooms were fab, felt high quality, music sound system, shower and extra touches.
Breakfast selection and staff were fab. The restaurant was closed for dinner on the night we were there so we eat in the bar. The food was good but the service was all over the place - wine did not arrive until we had already started our starters, we got steaks (not advised they were served with no sides) and so had to order them after the steak arrived, steak was ofc already eaten by time they arrived. Generally, the bar/restaurant staff did not reflect the 5 star standard you expect after arriving. My dessert cocktail, did not arrive after my bf dessert was already gone, 25mins later, this was not charged on the bill. The hotel is lacking a lobby / bar.
Spa - I specifically asked fro a couples room, we were there to relax together. When we arrived, Keith was brought away first, and when i got to my room, the couples room, he was not there and had already started his treatment in another room, whilst I got mine in the large couples room alone. The therapist was lovely, but had no idea what treatments I had booked - she was about to leave the room when I had to ask about my facial.
Overall I don't like to say but i feel its overpriced and not sure I'd return or highly recommend it again. Unfortunately the area was also extremely quiet with everything closed at the time of year

The Cliff House brought the level of customer service upto almost unmatchable levels. Everything was superb from the get go. Every little detail catered for. Minor quibbles? I ordered seafood chowder for lunch on arrival and whilst absolutely delicious the quantity served up was meagre considering the €9.50 price. Ditto with my wife's fish for evening dinner in the Bar. However I would highhly highly recommend The Cliff House for a treat.
