Famed for its connection with Sir Walter Raleigh, this hotel is spectacularly located on the sea front promenade in the famous heritage town of Youghal, County Cork. It is located just 5 minutes' walk from the town with its restaurants, bars, pubs, nightclubs, shops and historical sights and 45 minutes from Cork City, and is an ideal base from which to explore the beautiful East Cork area.

This hotel provides traditional Irish hospitality and sits comfortably with the heritage status of the town. This family-friendly, beach hotel comprises a total of 41 rooms including 1 junior suite, spread over 4 floors.

The facilities available in this air-conditioned establishment are ideal for both holidaymakers and business travellers alike: guests are welcomed in the lobby area with its 24-hour reception, hotel safe and lift access. All the staff were great, very friendly and exceptionally helpful. The room was cleaned to a high standard every day. There were several quiet corners to sit in but still feel part of the hotel. The food was excellent with a wide choice. The bar area was very comfortable and the staff exceptional. Access to the car park was simple with plenty of space.

Really enjoyed our stay at the Sir Walter Raleigh Hotel. It’s a gorgeous setting and our room looked right out over the water, such a view! Staff were lovely and breakfast was spot on. The room was on the smaller side, and the window could do with replacing as the bottom panel spoiled the view a little, plus we noticed some traffic noise in the mornings. But honestly, those are tiny things compared to how much we loved it here. Would definitely stay again.

This is the third year we have stayed at The Walter Raleigh Hotel. As always the staff were fantastically friendly and the food in the restaurant was superb. Great location, bright and comfortable!

We loved our stay at the Walter Raleigh, Jason and staff were very accommodating, especially with an early check in, and complimentary tea and scones while waiting! The rooms were bright and clean with wonderful views of Youghal harbor and bay! Brian greeted us back to the hotel on our second night, where we enjoyed a night cap in the gorgeous bar.

Good place to stay.

Comfortable hotel, with wonderful views of the sea from front facing rooms. Traffic can be noisy though. Staff seemed to be scarce - often no-one on reception, or in bar, but those who were on duty were very willing and helpful. We were a large family group, and they went out of their way to keep us together for breakfast and dining - service was good.

Booked via Expedia for 4 nights half board. On checking out was told half board meant 4 nights bed, breakfast and 2 evening meals so had to pay for extra 2 meals. The double room was tiny really only a single. Otherwise couldn't fault the staff

Friendly helpful staff

Had previous experience of the property and was impressed,looking forward to another similar stay.
Unfortunately left with a big disappointment.The breakfast was terrible in every aspect ( full Irish breakfast) :-
Ordered toast ,collected Irish breakfast which I found was already cold,twenty minutes and the toast still hadn't arrived.Staff didn't seem to know what was happening,I asked one staff member band it was obvious the toast hadn't been ordered .left breakfast area after approximately one hour just a terrible experience of disorganised staff, unacceptable meal and unacceptable
Length if time for a simple breakfast.I spoke with the receptionist stating our complaint but received no communication.

There were lots of staff and all were courteous and polite. The food was AMAZING and we wound up having two dinners as well as breakfast at the hotel. We highly recommend trying the fish pie and the shoulder pork roast!

We arrived just as it was getting dark (1030 ish) and parking gate was closing & all dinning and pub was also closed. We did not have breakfast there. Our deluxe ocean front room was more of a beach view & the room, though clean, with very comfortable beds, was not as pretty as those advertised. The staff, as with all the staff we encountered in Ireland, were very friendly.

Friendly and accommodating staff, and were a lifesaver when I misplaced my phone upon checking in.

Even had a cooling fan in the room I could use. Pillow case material was a little rough, but room condition was excellent and had a sound sleep soon enough.

Great Hotel!

The WR hotel was in a fabulous position in the town, staff were helpful and courteous and the hotel was really clean and fresh. I have one complaint however, that is the main restaurant was shut leaving us to eat in the bar for our evening meals. The food was excellent as per reviews but being no1 on the eateries list for the area should mean that you should be eating in nice surroundings rather than a bar with bar furniture

We had a beautiful stay at the Walter Raleigh Hotel in Youghal, the view of Green Park and the sea, from our room was stunning. The service was brilliant from the moment we arrived, a little early I might add. The food was outstanding.

Lovely hotel and staff - would recommend!

Room was lovely - great views. Bathroom was very nice. Overall it was extremely clean, we were left a welcome pack with face masks and wipes etc which was a nice touch.

Staff were great, particularly Tomasz (sorry if I’ve spelt it wrong!) the restaurant manager. He accommodated our dinner order over the phone as we were running a bit late due to traffic. We ate in the restaurant for dinner and the food was very nice. If you’re having breakfast, we’d recommend waiting for an outdoor table as the views are worth the wait!

Nice location, plenty parking and lovely staff. Hotel condition is only so so. Very poor water pressure in the shower. Rooms not very sound proofed so you can hear people in other rooms which is quite annoying. Breakfast is reasonable but not amazing.

Room with a view!

With beautiful views and a quiet little town near to the coast. This hotel is really top notch. Only down side is the comfort of the bed and the room temperature being to hot at points and no working WiFi in the room only in the lobby.

Hotel was very bright and comfortable, the room was small but very comfortable with a great view of the sea, breakfast was very tasty and the staff at breakfast were very friendly and helpful. The only downfall for us was that they had some really nice gins but they only had dreadful tonics so we didn't stay in the hotel bar which was disappointing, the person who purchases for the bar should listen to the complaints regarding getting proper tonics to go with the good gin.

Lovely Hotel and Town

What appears to be a fairly recently refurbished hotel, was very comfortable. We had a room at the front with a great view across the estuary, although road in front was fairly busy and a little noisy through the night. There is a beach not far from the hotel and it is only a short walk into the centre of town and to the main tourist attractions.

Loved everything about this 18th Century Georgian hotel; the story about the connection Sir Walter Raleigh had with Youghal, rooms were small but very nicely furnished, but fine for no more time we spent in them, the view from our rooms was great, the breakfasts were wonderful, staff very pleasant, easy parking on site, easy walking to see lighthouse, the garden area across the street from the hotel, and down into town. Highly recommend this hotel!

This information confirmed by Publican having a drink with me.
This shouldn't happen in a first class Hotel. Have to say the barman was going in and out to cool room working on it.

Lovely clean hotel. Music in bar and staff were lovely, however, went for breakfast in the morning and were ignored had to ask someone to set us a table. Had to ask for tea and toast and on waiting until our self helped breakfast was eaten had to ask for tea again, and then watch the staff help themselves to breakfast we were not impressed at all.

We did not have the most pleasant night of sleep since there was a lot of noise from people on street and band playing in hotel bar (even though our room was on the third floor and opposite side of hotel). We wish we could have closed our windows (especially because of all the cigarette smoke wafting up as well), but it was very warm so it was a tough trade off.
The staff was very nice and the manager tried to make-up for the poor night of sleep by providing lunch the next day, which was appreciated.

Lovely location, facing the sea. Staff all friendly and attentive. Rooms very comfortable. Very quiet at night. Good quality breakfast. The only negative for me, was that on our return from our first night out, there was no heating on, and I found the room really cold - this didn't happen again. There is no room thermostat, and I think, centrally, it was set too low.
