This place was absolutely stunning!! The staff was so amazing and helpful. Their driver took us down for dinner at The Hunted Hog in town and it was so delicious. Our room was beautiful and so spacious. A complimentary bottle of wine was waiting upon our arrival. Would book this again and again and again!!! Unfortunately it was raining so we didn’t get to explore the grounds but from what I could see, that was also spectacular.

Quick overnight stay while in the area

Castlemartyr is beautiful, the grounds, the hotel, the facilities, the rooms - it’s 5* all the way. Decided to come here last minute for a one night stay and it was well worth it. Had a couple of drinks in the canopy bar which was super relaxed, lovely dip in the pool and then dinner in the Hunted Hog pub - which was excellent and very good value. Breakfast was great, as expected. All round a great night away and would definitely go back.

Beautiful Grounds and Amazing Service/Food!

We love this property, it has beautiful grounds. The service is always amazing and food was excellent. Only knock is the hotel is starting to age, with seats in bar looking worn and bedding worn on edges. Little investment on the fine details can go along way, especially in a 5 star hotel.

The views on the property were amazing. The location was great. The food was great. The staff in the Canopy restaurant/bar were amazing. Beautiful rooms. We loved the property but were disappointed with our check in. Upon arrival, at check in time, we were told it would only be a few minutes. It took almost an hour. That’s not the end of the world but worth mentioning. My biggest concern was cleanliness. On multiple occasions we had to ask for clean silverware as the ones given to us were nasty and the teacups were never clean. It was disappointing that such a nice, high rated hotel had these issues.

Overall excellent, the place is dog friendly and we had a fabulous room with private garden. Food in bar could improve and dinner in canopy could be better and offering no sides with main meal expect mash potato needs improvement. Breakfast in canopy could improve, jambon wasn’t great and pancakes were poor. The pools jacuzzi wasn’t working which isn’t great when paying 5 star prices. They left lovely bed and treats for our dog how loved her stay.

Fantastic return visit.

Another wonderful stay at the Castlemartyr Resort ! It never seems possible as you leave, but each time you return the offering seems to improve. We received an upgrade to what are already some of the most comfortable and spacious hotel rooms in Ireland.
We also enjoyed a visit to Terre, their 2 Michelin Star restaurant. Based on that experience, I suspect they are well on their way to a third star soon.
The resort really is a place apart - recommended.

Our arrival was really disappointing. After traveling 12 hours, we arrived a couple of hours before check-in. I had emailed beforehand to inform them of our arrival time in the hopes that we would be able to check-in early. Our room wasn’t ready which we took well given that we were early. No problem we went off to get something to eat and explore a bit. We were gone for a little over an hour, the exhaustion coupled with the time change got us, especially our 5 year old. We went to sit in the lobby and watched as other guests arrived early and were able to check-in and go to their rooms. At this point, we really began to get upset. Why were these guests able to check-in? There was no offer of a more comfortable place to wait or vouchers for a drink or bite at ok of the restaurants, pretty standard procedure in a case like this. We continued to wait, past the designated check-in time. Close to 3 hours waiting. We were finally given our key cards and sent up, relieved to finally be able to rest only to arrive and find that the room wasn’t ready and someone was still there trying to finish cleaning/setting up. We felt so bad for the fellow, it was his first day he told us, clearly very nervous. So, we awkwardly stood at the door, as the poor man rushed to finish. Why had reception sent us up? No real acknowledgment of this situation, not acceptable at a “5 star” hotel, especially not acceptable when you book one of the nicer/expensive suites. Not 5 star hotel lack of attention

This is a FABULOUS property. Gorgeous grounds, rooms, gardens, trails, and public areas. Sculpture Garden and castle ruins were ethereal. Knight’s Bar was fab.

On the “other” side of the ledger—we were unable to get into any of the food outlets, and instead had to dine at the Wednesday BBQ. It was a bit tired, but food tasted alright. That was the ONLY thing that took away from the experience.

Lovely hotel valet service on arrival and a lovely welcome glass of processo ( nice touch). Deluxe room very nice and laid out on floor 3 of the new wing with nice balcony. A few scuff marks on furniture needs updating but overall lovely. Nice ballon and bar of chocolate left for my birthday (thank you).
Only downfall throw no fault of hotel there was a lot of families with kids and at 10.30 pm at night and from 7.30am they were running up and down the halls this should not be allowed so the hotel should have a policy on this. It’s not fair on other residents as we are all paying 5 star prices.
Food for dinner in canopy is excellent and we ate in the club house which was also nice. Breakfast was ok (our worst meal) it was abit scattered and busy and the cook to order omelette was poor but eggs benidict was nice. Also tray of jam had all the same this should be mixed! And more effort to self service table for variety of cooked meats and cheeses / bread.
Grounds are lovely for walk or cycle. And near the village.
I used the swimming pool and feel it’s needs cleaning you can see green on tiles and some chips and thermal areas needs updating slightly.
Overall lovely stay in cork just some minor changes needed to keep in line with other 5 star hotels we have stayed in Ireland such as adare manor, trump doonbeg and Europa Kerry.

The surrounding area is beautiful including castle ruins but the hotel itself is awkwardly built. We stayed at the manor house and we walked what seemed like a mile to our room. There were rooms that appeared to be storage areas near us and the stairway adjacent appeared to be under construction. The room itself, while tastefully decorated, was not well maintained. The shower and faucet was dirty, the walls had stains on them, and it had the feel of neglect. It’s very isolated so we ate at the Canopy Restaurant for dinner and breakfast and while the service was fine, the food was terrible. No effort, no flavor, and no creativity. Overall, probably once was beautiful but get the feeling like it’s run down and will continue to be that way with continued neglect.

Ok so the rooms are very nice at A 5* standard , no netflix or YouTube on tv but its there but not working.

We orderd a stake sandwich the bred was hard and stale , i got fried chicken was like something out of KFC the salads that came with both melas was a handful of lambs lettuce and 1 chopped soggy cherry tomato with a squirt of mayonnaise.
The chips where exactly what would get in Mcdonald.

The restaurant was booked up on the 2 nights, beacuse the 2nd restaurant was under renovation and not mentioned during booking.

I had to make a complaint
The manager was helpful and understanding giving the circumstances.

I could go on and on..

In my view its a nice building with nice rooms but most definitely not a 5***** service.. and very over priced for the reason.

Hotel with museum vibes

We stayed for one night in a Deluxe double room overlooking the golf course and truly enjoyed our time there. The room was really spacious, with the bathroom having both a walk-in shower and a bathtub. Also of note were the wardrobe and coffee-making facilities in the room, evoking the style of the Orient Express.

Even though our room was located in a separate wing to the Manor House, the long and winding corridor to it was full of modern art which gave the overall impression of walking through a museum. During our stay however, this aspect was slightly disturbed by ongoing renovation work for a new reception area. Nevertheless, it wasn't too much of a bother.

Having arrived in the evening, we had time to use the spa area before dinner. The pool was long enough for laps. However, the only downside of going so late is missing out on the great views of the estate offered by the huge glass wall.

While dinner was as good as expected, we were even more fascinated by the bar area which is located in what seemed to be a ballroom.

For breakfast we had a table with a nice view overlooking the gardens and the food options were plentiful.

Furthermore, after breakfast we had a lovely walk around the property, which is truly amazing, especially the old castle ruins and the river walk.

Fantastic hotel, good facilities, all food and drinks were excellent. Staff are very friendly and professional. There is currently building work being carried out at the hotel which is a little unpleasant. This should be completed by Easter and after that I expect it will be fabulous. However when I booked I was informed that there were building works being carried out In the car park which is not true it is inside the hotel and you have to walk through building works to get to your room. Also one of the bar/restaurants is now closed due to works so food and drink options are limited at the moment. Breakfast and swimming pool needs to be reserved. Other than that we loved our stay. Bedrooms are large.

Most over rated hotel I've ever stayed at. Service was really poor. Food was honestly shocking. Ordered from the bar Asian salmon kebabs w warm aisan salad, sesame seeds pickled vegetables etc and got a bowl of noodles with some red peppers and salmon and nothing else. When table was finally cleared an hour later I complained and there was no interest by staff. We had dinner in the grill, couldn't book, arrived, queued asked to wait 25 mins in corridor. I said we'd go to bar. 5 later after just ordering drinks they called us saying table ready. Arrived back, queued again, finally got table, waited a other 20 mins for menu. What I wanted on menu wasn't available. Asked for manager. Forgot to say we had downgraded room as suite was not cosy or romantic at all, they were supposed to drop new keys while we were in the bar, they never did, nor did they move our luggage which they said they would. Once we got back to room it took another hour to get our luggage and they somehow have lost my wife's scarf!... Back to the meal. Manager arrived, we said we'd never stayed in a 5star hotel with such poor standards. Said he would come back when we had finished our meal. Meal arrived, food shocking again. Potatoes and fish cold, vegetables really poor. Manager arrived back during our meal! Told us he would go into kitchen and watch chef cook the food... What! Need drink after that, ordered a Teelings whiskey, that came but second one too nearly half an hour! They had run out. Avoid.
