Staying at the Explorean was very relaxing loved the restaurant and bar area with option to use Fiesta Americana pools and restaurants. The staff at The Explorean & Fiesta Americana were all amazing. I would recommend staying here it was a wonderful experience. The included excursions were great. We went on 3. The excursion team Nestor and Daniel were fantastic. They made our day. Rooms were very clean housekeeping did a great job. The grounds were very pretty. We would return for another stay.

Our visit was incredible. The staff hospitality is unparalleled to any resort we've ever visited. Excursions are included daily, which is an amazing way to experience all the exciting things the island has to offer. From driving around the entire island in a buggy with strangers who are now friends, to snorkeling El Cielo and seeing all the marine life. We loved our servers and all dining options, and the resort offers a day bed and seating option directly over the water where you can jump in an snorkel immediately. We can't wait to come back

My problem started with Expedia. The ages of my children was processed wrong by Expedia and as a result I was charged an extra $975 for a second room which the hotel could not provide for me because they were fully booked. I figured no problem, Expedia will take care of me, I was wrong. So i paid almost $1000 for nothing!! I contacted Expedia for help but they told me too bad and it was not their problem. The resort also told me the same. Explorean is a nice place and Cozumel is wonderful but Expedia has absolutely awful customer support. Please be aware that if you encounter issues on your vacation you are on your own if you use Expedia. I will be using a local travel agent for future bookings. Thank you Expedia for NOTHING.

As first-time visitors from Canada to Cozumel and The Explorean, we spent 21 wonderful days there and truly cannot express how much we enjoyed our stay. Everything exceeded our expectations, and the staff, facilities, food, and impeccable cleanliness of the entire resort were all superb.

What truly sets this hotel apart is the inclusion of a guided activity each day, such as cycling, dune buggy adventures, snorkeling, kayaking, beach outings, and historical museum visits, which puts the resort head and shoulders above others.

The hardworking and courteous staff made an immediate and lasting impression. Gabriel and Edwin in the restaurant, Miguel at the pool, and Aaron at the beach provided exceptional service, while Ariel, Nestor, and Daniel, our knowledgeable and enthusiastic guides, made each activity especially memorable.

My wife and I will most definitely be returning.

Though our overall rating is good there were some things that almost prompted an ok rating. Our stay was during a cooler week. The air conditioning could not be turned off because it is sensor activated whenever an outside door would open so we couldn’t use the warmer outside air to heat the room. The room never was warmer than 68 degrees and usually at 62 degrees. The excursions that were part of the package used bicycles that were old and difficult to ride and could not be adjusted for height differences. After the first short excursion with the bikes we knew we couldn’t go on the coastal, much longer excursion. There are no towel bars or even pegs to hang wet towels. And there are no chairs or desk height table in the room. Having said the above, the food, staff, location and cleanliness were all good.

Staff was amazing! Food was amazing! Stunning views! But, the place is dangerous. Too many steps and different levels and booby traps. I don't drink and I got injured multiple times. Unsteady rails. My daughter grabbed a rail and fell into the jungle. We told the Management about our injuries and they said, I'm sorry and made no effort to fix any of the problems.

Best thing about the resort is the staff. They are friendly and courteous. Loved having the excursions included. Room was clean, comfortable and well maintained. Food experience was excellent. It is nice to have access to the adjacent resort as most restaurants are on that side, you access the beach by the other property, and the pool is bigger there. It would be nice if Explorean was adults-only. Still an enjoyable vacation overall.

Food and drinks are really good. Everyone is friendly. The excursions were the best part of the stay. Only problem was we didn't have hot/warm water in our room for 4 days. We had mentioned it several times, however it took finding a manager and physically bringing him to the room to prove how cold the water was. They finally fixed it. Nothing was offered for the inconvenience so that was a little disappointing.

We had an amazing time at this beautiful resort. We loved the atmosphere of the resort, it was so pretty, peaceful and quiet. The service and food was wonderful. The \"sales\" guy (timeshare) was a little annoying but when he realized we weren't interested he left us alone. That was the only downside was checking in and forced to talk to the \"sales' guy right away.

We had an amazing stay at The Explorean Cozumel! The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The resort is beautifully set in the jungle, offering a peaceful, natural vibe while still giving access to all the amenities at the adjacent Fiesta Americana.

Our room was quiet, clean, and comfortable, with thoughtful touches throughout. We loved the daily excursions and activities included with our stay—such a unique and fun way to explore the island! We chose this resort for the excursions and they did not disappoint. We travelled as a family of 4 with 16 and 18 year olds. The excursions were great for all of us. The boat snorkel tour was our favourite one, followed by the buggy tour but we enjoyed them all. They always brought a cooler full of drinks and a stack of towels. The food at the resort is good, nothing special. It’s a much smaller resort than those in the Riviera Maya and I’d say the food was a small step down. We all got a little sick near the end of the week. They had some really good empanadas at the coffee bar and I think we ate them just before they pulled them. The excursion definitely made it worth staying at the Explorean and if we had a redo on our vacation week, we’d book it again! We didn’t take in much of the nightly entertainment but we did the casino night which was really fun. Marshall was a fun dealer and made it a great night. The pools were nice but we didn’t spend much time in them. Most of our time was split between excursions and the ocean. Bring your snorkel gear! With the current in Cozumel flippers are nice. We left ours at home and I wish I packed them. My husband and I went to the spa for a massage which was wonderful. All the staff were great. We were asked 1x if we would be interested in checking out the time share. We said no and it wasn’t a big deal. To sum it up, we loved our week here!

This is a beautifully designed hotel that is surrounded by lush greenery. There’s a pool in a beautiful setting with lots of options for lounging if you don’t want to be in full sun. I loved that you also have the option to use the facilities at the Fiesta American if you want full sun and a DJ! The combination of the 2 facilities was great because you just have more options. But I always really liked the difference from being at the Fiesta American, beach and pool and then going back to the Explorean where it was more cool and quiet. Perfect for families with small children! Lots of indoor/outdoor restaurants with high ceilings and fresh healthy food. And other little things like a coffee, ice cream and pastry bar from 10 - 10 for caffeine and sugar addicts.
Staff was super nice and helpful and there was a different option each day for a field trip. The boat trip to go snorkeling got me back in the groove with snorkeling again after 25 years, and then I discovered that the snorkeling right off the beach at the hotel was just as great! (There are decks with ladders to easily get into the water as this is not a wide sandy beach.)

Welcoming and helpful staff. And they have done a lot of important maintenance work since the last time we came in 2023, when the place was hurting badly from weathering Covid.

Private, clean, and beautiful. The perfect Mexico getaway. The size of the resort makes it a more intimate experience allowing you to make bonds with both the staff and the other travelers. Iguanas can be seen meandering through the grounds. The location is a quick walk to the ocean. And scattered throughout the resort is a variety of restaurants. We loved our peaceful and relaxing stay at the Explorean. The property is quiet and serene—perfect for unwinding. If you're ever in the mood for more activity, the lively atmosphere at Fiesta Americana is just next door.

Be aware that they will try to pitch a timeshare presentation. You may have to firmly decline multiple times before they take no for an answer.

A special shoutout to Jared, our favorite server and bartender. He went above and beyond to take care of us and genuinely cared about making our stay enjoyable.

The food and drinks were decent, and the location is great—you’re not far from popular beach clubs. Plus, the property has its own pier, making it super convenient if you're planning any boat excursions.

Restaurants were very good. Not a bad choice amongst any of them. Buffet breakfast was diverse enough and the food was great. We honestly did not have one bad meal here. They had Asian, Mexican, Italian, a grill, ceviche bar and a few others and everything we had was amazing.
Drinks: 3/10
Very very very hard to get drunk. Mixed drinks taste generally all the same. Liquor must be watered down. Beer and wine seem untouched. Wife doesn’t really drink, has somewhere north of 8 drinks and didn’t have a buzz. You can start drinking at 11am which is pretty late imo, and all alcohol served is cutoff at 1045. Could be for safety but idk, maybe to make it a more family friendly environment. Our 6 days spent there, not a single drunk person was seen.
Nightlife: 5/10
Activities are the ONLY nightlife on the resort. They were fun, but nobody did them (or tailored to children in which case nobody showed up still) and they only lasted an hour. Afterwards, the place turns into a ghost town.
Service: 10/10
Everyone was extremely nice, helpful, spoke your language or at least tried to fluently converse. All inconveniences for the guest were essentially taken care of by the staff. The only thing to say here is that the service COULD be a bit faster but that’s a viewfrom an American take it as you will.
Room/Cleanliness: 9/10
The entire island is VERY conservative and caring for their environment, especially the reefs. The resort itself was super clean considering that it’s basical

Our stay was amazing! Tucked away in the rainforest, it was quiet and so peaceful. Our room was super clean and tidy. Everyday the came and made the bed, new towels and tidied up. Each morning they dropped off banana bread, orange juice and coffee. There was one pool, and one restaurant w an associated bar. Everything else was in the neighboring hotel. There were quite a few restaurant options, but honestly not a ton of vegetarian options. Other than that however, our stay was phenomenal and I would absolutely stay again!

The property needs a good clean and refurbishment. But because of the weather and being in the jungle I understand that maintainence is a continuous struggle. Staff is very good. The check in people are pushy to have you check out the RCI opportunities which comes with a lot of resorts. Food is fair to very good. The restaurant of the explorean is nice and serves great food. The breakfast basket delivered to each room every morning is a nice touch but only has enough coffee for two cups. Would go again because it is pretty good for the money.

My sister and i stayed at The Explorean. It was the other reviews that drew us in. Such an incredible surprise. It is a wonderful small quiet resort, but if you want some action you only have to walk a short distance the the Fiesta Americana, which you have full use of, for some fabuous shows at night. This resort offters excursions along with your stay and they were fabulous! Our main guide was Edgar. He and his co-works on each excursion took very very good care of us and made sure we ok enjoying ourselves and if you had a request or suggestion it was immediately considered. The Explorean has one restuarant with a full menu to chose from and everything we had was perfect, even the banana soup! Our waiter gave a bit to try and we were completely surprised at how good it was! I can not say enough about how GREAT. all the employees are. And our guide Edgar and his crews - fabulous ! We have already booked for next year!!!!! Thank you so much for make my dreams come true Explorean !

The pool was wonderful and the beach club was superb. I was able to find a free cabana pretty much every time I wanted one! The snorkeling right on the property was fantastic! In fact, it was even better than a few of the spots I visited on an independent tour (not with the Explorean) so bring your snorkel and some water shoes!

The room itself was clean and comfortable. It was a little damp, but I think that has more to do with the climate and building materials than it does on the hotel itself. There was a slight issue with the shower area flooding one night in my room. I called the front desk on the way to dinner and explained the situation. When I got back from dinner, there were several people in the room working on the issue! It didn't flood again after that. They were incredibly efficient!

Everyone was incredibly lovely and I would absolutely visit again!

We weren't sure what to expect with the excursions (they could been so-so since they were included) and we were very surprised. The excursions were wonderful. Guides Edgar and Jaciel were particularly excellent! So friendly and helpful! The food at both the Explorean and the adjacent Fiesta Americana was fantastic. We loved the jungle environment of the Explorean, and the snorkelling right in front of the Fiesta Americana was amazing!

Beautiful, quiet and peaceful boutique style property. The included excursions were so fun, the guides were friendly, enthusiastic, took very good care of the guests. About 20 steps from bigger hotel with access to more amenities, restaurants, beach. Very convenient to have options of the two very different hotels. Very happy we stayed at the Explorean, look forward to returning.

We traveled to the Explorean for 2 weeks January 16-30 2024. We had a wonderful experience.

Facilities: 5*. Excellent restaurant available all day. Pool wonderful and warm. Lovely walking paths to listen to birds. Bar includes all top-shelf spirits. Little sweets display had some amazing desserts.
Rooms: 4*. Clean and comfortable. Need more storage though. Quiet. Lots of hot water. Wish they had screen doors on porch.
Staff: 5* plus another 100*. They really make this place. Julio, Jaciel, Armando and Nestor leading activities are gems of humans! We will return because of them. Gabriel and Fermin at restaurant were very attentive servers.
Activities: 5*. Although we prefer water activities, all were well-organized and, of course, included. What's not to love?
Location: 5*. Super close to airport. Tucked in behind Fiesta Americana (you get all their facilities, which are amazing). About a 5 minute walk to beautiful waterfront with prime snorkeling right there. Cevecheria, grill, and breakfast and lunch buffet are there as well and food was wonderful. Staff serve drinks to you wherever you sit. Lots of Bali beds and loungers.
Resort is for those who love nature, small resorts, and who have good mobility (some up and down areas). Safe and chill. Amazing value for price. Highly recommend! There aren't enough characters here for me to rave about the Explorean. Can't wait to return soon!

Came with my girlfriend and had an amazing stay. I’ve been to probably a dozen all inclusives and this was my favorite so far. If you are looking for a big beach with powdery white sand, this is not the spot, but the snorkeling was awesome. Pool was nice. The food was still resort food, but definitely better than most. Rooms were comfortable and very clean. The staff was amazing all around. The included excursions seemed like a good time but we didn’t have time to take advantage of them because we only had a quick three day stay. We go to the riviera maya once or twice a year and usually just go with whatever the best deal is when booking, but will definitely come back to Explorean next time. Can’t wait to come back.

We spent a week at the Explorean. The hotel and staff exceeded my expectations. The food was excellent, the pool and grounds were always clean and the room was roomy, comfortable and clean. They added a roll away bed for my 6yr old son, which was a nice addition to help make our stay comfortable.
The included excursions were what set this hotel apart from others. The excursion staff are great. On days where the weather didn't cooperate, they had alternative plans and we always had a fun time.
I have already recommended this hotel to friends and family.

Resort with smaller and more boutique like much better than a mega resort.
Never more than second in line for almost anything.
Drinks were high quality alcohol.
Southwest fresh definitely recommend making reservations at the restaurants the Mexican was our favorite.
Play classic example everyone was friendly welcoming and helpful from the front desk to the bartenders too The tour guides.
It's really nice to be in a Mexican resort where everyone genuinely likes working there.
Make sure you bring some small bills $1 or two tip really makes a big difference to them you don't have to tip every time but occasionally it's very helpful.
We would return again and found it an excellent value for the money

Our favorite Cozumel resort. The staff is helpful and friendly. Gabriel at Lo Kaan Restaurant never fails to make you feel special and you never do without something you need. The rooms are beautiful and clean. The jungle balconies are heaven every morning with the beautiful and friendly birds. Being able to use the entire Fiesta Americana property and still having an oasis with few people and a bar and pool almost to yourselves is wonderful. Eduardo is the first person who has greeted us both times when we first arrived and he makes you feel right at home. If you want to go anywhere the doorman at the FA are the best and never had more helpful person with taxi and finding a place. The location is great. Snorkling right out front and a pier in front of you have a boat excursion it picks you up right at resort. Can’t wait to go back!

We really liked the jungle feel of this resort. Such nice gestures with the coffee, juice and muffins delivered to our room every morning, Even though we didn't utilize them only because we slept in too late.. The employees were all very polite and nice. We didn't get much hassle about any sales pitch, but we made it clear we were not interested and all was good. Very quiet and relaxing atmosphere and we thoroughly enjoyed. We would stay here again. Food was great. Service was great. Loved accessing the Fiesta Americana as well.

The Explorian was nice and quiet. The explore trips that were provided were good and bad. The bicycles provided were old and tired. The entrance to the public beach at the end of the bike trip was terrible. It was a service road to a business. Garbage everywhere and no bathrooms available. The trip to the beach also had no bathrooms available. The staff for the excursions were great. The excursions are done on the cheap.

I was really impressed with this all inclusive. Our room was big and the bed was perfect. There were 4 restaurants for dinner plus 3 different types of snack bars. The food was really good. It was small portions, but you can order as much as you want. The staff were all kind and friendly and helpful. We were asked 3 times to listen to the talk but never again. We enjoyed the excursions that were included. I would definitely come back again.
